sending 11 people to the hospital. 128 passengers and 14 crew members were on board at the time. crews are working through the night to determine what went wrong. >> also breaking a maryland police officer gunned down in the line of duty in what investigators are calling an unprovoked attack. let's get to kelly wright who has been following the developments all morning. >> this shooting is under investigation. the unprovoked attack on them is devastating. 4:30 sunday afternoon is when it happened without any warning gunfire erupts outside of a community center of the prince george's police department in palmer park, maryland. a gunman opens fire shooting and killing officer jaki colson a four-year veteran and under cover narcotics officer. he was just 28 years old.

he would have celebrated his 29th birthday this week. fellow officers gathered outside of the hospital where he pronounced dead and prayed for their fellow cop and friend. >> jacai had an infectious smile. he lit up a room. he was a tremendous personality that made everybody smile and wanted to be everything to everybody. he was a police officer who was a real cop's cop. >> he was very well loved. the shooter by the way, was shot in an exchange of gunfire with police. a second suspect ran from the scene causing police to shut down roads and conduct an active shooter alert. they captured him a short time later in a nearby shopping area. >> the suspect is alive. he's in this facility. he's in stable condition and he's expected to survive. a second suspect was also

71 others are still being treated at the hospital. the car bomb went up in the city's main boulevard near a bus stop. turkish officials are blaming kurdish militants. this is the second bomb in the capital in a month. it comes after two-days after the u.s. em bats see warned of a potential terrorist plot in the city there. new overnight. a suspect is shot dead after shooting a police car and leading police through a wild chase the chase reaching nearly 100 miles per hour. they stopped the driver by ramming other police cars into hisser ka. they ended up firing and killing that suspect. it is unclear how he managed to take off in a cruiser in the first place. now to extreme weather, wreaking havoc clooast to coast blinding sun rain and rubber necking blamed for a serious pileup on a north carolina highway. 94 cars shut down a six-mile

yesterday across arkansas including reported tornadoes. under a tornado warning with a storm system rolling through bringing in more rain across areas hit hard by flooding last week as many areas picked up historic flooding out there across louisiana and mississippi. again looking at another unsettled day as the storm system goes eastward. the current temperatures in advance of the storm system you can see we are in the 50's and 60's right now from places like new york all of the way down into atlanta. much colder as you heard further north to new england where temperatures are in the teens this morning. take a look at the plains it will be very summer like out there in dallas 87 degrees the fauxorecast high temperatur. our storm system reaches eastward bringing in areas of rain. we could see one round of isolated severe weather across the atlantic and as we head into tomorrow into parts of the

20 point lead over senator marco rubio. there is a protest looking at some facebook groups today. there is a protest playing near a failed site. that would be the trump tower site in downtown tampa. there's a protest rally expected to begin now. this one is expected to be full. they cannot guarantee any one's safety inside. donald trump has canceled at least one event in florida but not because of protestors. he canceled a planned rally in florida because instead he's planning to go to youngstown ohio after the tampa stop. that's john kasich territory. many speculating he's not worried about marco rubio. the healthy 20 point margin in polls so far.

shocked and numb, frankly. this is the second time in about two weeks that a young officer has been shot and killed in the line of duty. you see still a very active crime scene here in palmer park. this shooting happened out in front of one of the local district stations which happens to be attached to police headquarters. last night, police chief hank stuwinski said it was an unprompt oaked attack, and the officer was able to return fire before he died. last night when officer colson was rushed to the hospital, fellow officers gathered and prayed in his honor after learning he would not survive his injuries. they joined hands and prayed as the night darkened. the 28-year-old had been on the force for four years. he was an undercover narcotics detective and not in uniform sunday. the ambush began around 4:30 in the afternoon. one suspect opened fire outside the station, and several officers including colson rushed to the gunfight.
