breaking news overseas, the paris terror attack was caught in brussels. salah abdeslam was captured. the paris attack investigation goes on. also today, terror developments at home. the fbi says a teenage suspect accused of stabbing four people at the university of california last year planned the attack and may have been inspired by isis and other jihad inspired groups. so kimberly, just when people started thinking paris, san bernardino, others, these

investigations had gone away. today you have a break in the case in paris. >> really fantastic they were able to chase him down like this and get some justice in such an important case. it really brought international communities together to be strong for paris and support what had happened there for the people, the victims, the families. and it goes to show you, if you stay on it in term of the intelligence community, you can have these kinds of successes in the fight against terror. and i want to stress this is why i felt it is very important to be able to give the intelligence community the tools that they need to be able to succeed, to track these people down so they didn't do something else. >> now he's hopefully providing more information. >> a wealth of information. i'm sure he is getting it handed to him right now. put it that way. >> be this means that somebody was complicit in hiding him.
2:02 pm
somebody also maybe tipped off the authorities. >> certainly. them they were close to getting him when this went down. there was some arcane law that said they couldn't have police raids at home after 9:00 p.m. and he slipped through. hopefully someone said, enough is enough. being diligent, not giving up. it was back in november. our news cycle is so rapid that it goes in one ear and out the other. >> we have news about the california tech. it made me wonder. whatever happened to the investigation in san bernardino? it is as if we hear nothing. >> we all knew they came from brussels. they caught him in brussels. europe has open borders. he could have gone anywhere almost freely. just get in a car and drive to wherever you want in europe for the most part. but decided to stay right where
2:03 pm
everyone thought he would be and they caught him. hey. listen. dumb terrorists. >> maybe he didn't even want to go to syria. >> you know what is also dumb, belgium. mozambique is the jihadi capital of europe. i think they've had 100 isis fighters from a village of about 80,000 people. they had this guy and they let him go. remember, europeans give us grief over gitmo. to your point in belgium they can't have raids between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. so you only raid in the daytime. terrorists are running errands in the daytime. they're not home in the daytime. this is the problem with europe. they fight terror from a civilized perspective. they're dealing with the uncivilized as if they're some rather rude individuals. that will be our down fall. we can't let this happen. we can't fight them with our

2:06 pm
>> it will be a fun election year when you can make ads like that. >> i'm worried about all the nominees and their response to terror. i think talking about the merits of technology to terror, what will happen? they took a box cutter and turned a jet into a missile. what they'll be doing now is taking any modern technology we have, the drones that you go buy at radio shack, combined with any substance you can get online. i don't think any of these nominees have thought about this. and this is something, it is all of our faults. we only think about terror until after it happens. it is just something, it floats away until it happens again. we need to have a leader who is thinking about this. this is an a apocalyptic threat. it only has to happen once to be devastating. >> i think when you're in the oval office, i think that realization does hit home. you get the briefing every

2:09 pm
blackberry president obama had. when they said no, she got frustrated and then we have e-mailgate. >> this is, here you have hillary who has bad foreign policy experience. and we have a presumptive nominee has none. that's an issue. this should be a real strong point for republicans to go after her. this is someone who basically treated national security issues as if they were e-mails from your aunts or uncles. >> anyone else? that's it. next, will this summer's convention end up a contested one? and next, it is facebook friday. pet moments are beautiful, unless you have allergies.

republicans could arrive at the national convention without a nominee. the speaker of the house thinks it is a strong possibility it will be contested. here's paul ryan. >> nothing has changed other than the perception that this is more likely to be an open convention than we thought before. we're getting our minds around the idea that this could be a reality. those of us involved need to respect that. >> i'm going to speak my mind. i'm going to defend ideas as the republican party. we're going to have to work with who have the nominee is. >> the former house speaker newt gingrich has a warning for those trying to stop trump. he thinks i think would result in a loss for the republicans. >> you're either for the republican nominee, whether trump or cruz, or you're for the election of hillary clinton. there is no middle ground here.
2:15 pm
functionally, anyone who doesn't vote for the republican nominee is helping elect hillary clinton and establishing a very radical supreme court. >> marco rubio homes there's still a chance to stop cruz. >> days of our politicians. what do you think? you have 17 pages of notes. >> i have a metaphor? why is the right mad at the right? the metaphor is that of a hacker. donald trump is a hacker. in the sense that all the substance already existed. the substance was talk radio and cable tv shows hike "the five." donald trump hacked us. he took what we had been talking about for years and i think it

>> here's why. i think first of all, 19 more in contests. there's still a way to go before the july convention. a more compelling, stronger argument. i'm on facebook and a lot of my friends are much more progressive and left leaning. i saw a democrat who was pro braern saying i am not a trump person. if the gop tries to take this thing from him i'm on his side about this. it is not dissimilar from the delegate thing on the left. it is not about trump. it is that the will of the people. >> do you realize there are hundreds of million to make the case? >> i'm a rules person. this is not 1976.
