storming through the primaries and racking up the delegates, and way ahead of cruz on the clear path to the nomination. the republicans are on the losing side and all i hear is running the third party ticket or stealing the nomination from trump. the if you want a big tent, why not listen to voters instead of muzzling them. they are claiming that trump is quote, unquote destroying the republican party, but a lot of people are wondering, hasn't the republican party destroyed itself? how can donald trump be destroying the republican party when he is bringing in so many new voters, independents and even democrats into the party? record-breaking republican turnout in the 2016 primary. then maybe donald trump is breathing life back into the republican party. so the question is, will will republicans unite behind trump or splinter and lose to hillary clinton? joining me now to discuss the co-host of "outnumber ed" the

andrea and president of high noon strategies elisa booth, and the host of red eye, tom shillue and strategist and talk show host richard fowler, and of cour course, and certainly not last but least democratic political strategist jessica parlov, and so andrea, it seems that there are republicans who are more concerned about saving the republican party than they care about saving the republic. >> a ha! it is not saving the republican party, but it to sea island and golf and the merlots and the steaks at the capital grill, and saving the power and the existence, and the establishment has made big money off of being professional campaign consultant, and jesse, this is a big business. you think of the thousands of lobbyist lobbyists that won't lobby to donald trump the way they could lobby an establishment candidate, and that is why they are fighting so hard for their own relevance, but they are the

ones who got us into the mess. when president obama said it is not me, is right, it is the republicans who got themselves into the mess. they nominated two losers with mccain and romney, and they didn't do what the american electorate wanted when they were elected in the midterms, and the voters have had enough, and they know that on both sides the establishment are just failed on both sides. >> and so, you right, they are looking after their pocketbooks instead of the pocketbooks of the american people. and you bring up a good point about romney and mccain. i remember when mccain was nominated, the guy was pro amnesty, and against waterboarding and voted against the bush tax cuts, but the people who didn't like john mccain were told to fall in line, and soldier up, because he is the nominee, and now when donald trump is looking to be the nominee, they are talk about a third party. can you make sense off that? >> well, i believed them. i believed it with mccain and i believed it with romney when they were hiding and going into the debates and romney was playing i cool and not going on

the attack, i was telling my friend, don't worry, he has a strategy, the american people don't like when the republicans are ing a graggressive and, you was wrong and they were all wrong, but they are is the sticking to the playbook. they want to the hide their way through the election, and they can't do it. >> and you see, lisa, any time you try to weaken donald trump, you are strengthening hillary clinton? >> well, i mean, you are strengthening him, because face it, he has more than $35 million in attack ads spent against him and a lot of the money was spent in florida and look at how well he did. he defeated a sitting u.s. senator, and did surprisingly well in ohio in a state where if you look at john kasich he has represent ed ted the state on af for 38 years now. i mean. >> and he has 80% favorability on top of it. and also re-elected two years ago. i mean, as much money as they throw at him, it is going to embolden him and mitt romney came out to attack him, it only
8:05 pm
emboldened him, because the people coming out are fed up with government, and the if you look at the exiting polling, the people believe that the government has betrayed them and mistrust in government and see the republican party as a failure. >> you are a democrat jessica, and you must be laughing yourself to sleep at night watching the chaos. >> well, it is great to sit around and hear the republicans bashing the republicans, because the work is easier on this side. >> we will get around and we haven't gotten to you guys, yet, but while i have a moment to say this, it is disconcerting and a major mistake that the establishment has made we besides the decades of mistakes is not endorsing and getting behind one candidate and mitt r romney's speech was effective if you lis to end language of it and said, i am backing rubio or john kasich and now they will try for the unity ticket with kasich and cruz, but it is too
