these people are out there walking on the streets every single day. that's it for tonight be sure to follow me on twitter and instagram and facebook. tell me what you think. thanks for watching. remember, i am watters and this is my world right here. >> oo welcome to "hannity." coming to you live from arizona. it is from 2016 for presidential candidate for texas senator ted cruz. we have a large audience watching tonight. it is put together by the super pac keep the promise. we have a lot to cover for the next 60 minutes. voters in the great state of arizona head to the polls on tuesday to pick who they want to be their party's nominee. you ready to get things started? all right. joining me now 2016 republican presidential candidate texas senator ted cruz.
6:01 pm
>> what a welcome, senator. >> i got too say, i love the great state of arizona. >> all right. i have been saying now for a while that this is a two-man race. donald trump agrees with you and me. why is john kasich still in the race and what are your thoughts about it? >> look, there's no good reason when you go 1 for 27. that's a problem. >> good point. >> at this point it is clearly the voters have decided it is a two-man race. it is between me and donald trump. we are the only two candidates with any plausible path to win the nomination, and at this point kasich's role is essentially as a spoiler, a vote
6:02 pm
for john kasich is a vose for dona -- vote for donald trump. >> i interviewed governor kasich and free fairness and openness, i have known him for 25 years. okay. i heard you. i have known him for 25 years, but he has no mathematical chance to get to 1,237 delegates. donald trump obviously does and you obviously do. the yes, he said to me, sean it has been exciting if you have a good chance. if it goes to the convention floor it is to either rob you or donald trump who will get the most boats and the most delegates am i right? >> as you mention the nutty fever dream of the washington establishment that they want to see a brokered convention and suddenly they parachute in some
6:03 pm
establishment choice you save the republicans from the pesky voters. if they tried it you will see an absolute revolt and quite rightly. >> i am going to be honest with you, if they try that i am walking out. are you all walking out with me? >> there are one of two scenarios that could happen number one we have a direct path to 1237 delegates to winning the delegation out right and that's what we are campaigning hard to do. if you want to beat donald trump, and listen, i agree with the 65 to 70 percent of republicans who say if donald trump is our nominee it's a disaster that trump loses to hillary and we lose the whole country. but if you want to beat donald
6:04 pm
trump, the way to do it is beat donald at the ballot box as we have done over and over and over again in nine states all over the country. >> so this is really important. let me go through the scenarios. if you go to cleveland and you have more votes and more delegates or donald goes and he has more votes and more delegates, and they try and steal it from either one of you, both of you united -- i know this is an odd question, but the two of you can stop any of the bologna. >> of course. there are two scenarios i think are likely. one that we win 1237 delegates before the convention and wrap it up. now there's a second scenario that is possible, which is going into the convention neither donald trump nor i have 1237 delegates. we both come in with a ton of delegates but short of 1237. in it that case you don't have a brokered convention you have a
6:05 pm
contested convention. what we saw 76 ford and reagan. they are the delegates tdecide and they decide between me and donald trump. that is actually democracy. it is the electorate delegates voting and following the rules. i am willing to live by those outcomes. by the way, the washington establishment folks that are hoping for kasich, part of their plan, the only way kasich is not eligible to have his name put in the nomination. you have to win about 8 states in order to be eligible. their plan is the week before the convention have the republican bigwigs change the rules we need to trust the voters, i trust the voters that's when i plan to beat trump at the ballot box. >> let me ask this question. i think it is important. at the end of the day i don't know if you read social media the way i do.
6:06 pm
you all read social media? it is really ugly right now. because at the end of the day the real battle is going to be for the white house. the real about the about a el is we want another term of obama which hillary promises. my question is, are you confident. i know it is testy and tight between you and trump. look, it is the nature of politics unfortunately, it's a blood sport. at the end of the day are you confident there will be one nominee and a united party that will stand together to defeat her? >> what we are working to do is unite and bring together republicans. some of the way you see it depends on how you campaign. if you campaign engaging in constant insults and attacks, if
6:07 pm
you just yell and curse and belittle others with personal attacks, that makes it hard, that makes it hard for the party to unite. it's the reason why on those debate stages when we have seen candidates yelling and insulting each other, i don't get into that mess. i don't get into that muck. i don't insult any one. i keep my focus. if they insult me i don't respond in kind. i keep my focus on substance and policy. i think that's one of the reasons why so many republicans are uniting behind our campaign. >> the math is really -- i am not sure if this is the best way to pick a candidate in the end. one rule in one state and another rule in another state. it so happens arizona is a winner take allstate. here are the numbers are we are. of you have 423 delegates. trump 678, john kasich fourth at 143 which we have been talking
6:08 pm
about. you need 78 percent of the remaining delegates. can you get that number out right. you are saying you can. how do you get it? >> let me walk through the math. if trump continues to get delegates at the same rate he has so far, he doesn't get to 1237. he needs 54 percent of the delegates to get the nomination. so far he has only won 47 percent of the delegates. so he has to do better than he has. the problem for donald, every time a candidate drops out he does worse because the supporters for those candidates, marco rubio dropped out this week. marco is a good, talented inspirational person. he has millions who he inspired. that's the real problem for donald was the overwhelming majority of the rubio supporters are come and they are supporting us. we keep getting stronger and stronger. for me to win 1,237 i have to we
6:09 pm
know 78 percent of the remaining delegates. that sounds like a high bar. you have to remember the delegate allocation rule. if we beat donald going ahead by a small margin if we consistently beat him in the overall vote we get north of 80 percent of the delegates. that's the path to winning is going and winning over and over again. for example. we have arizona and utah both voting on the 22nd. now, utah we have a big, big lead. we are going to have a very big night in utah. arizona is much tighter. donald did well in early voting in arizona. we are surging now, our numbers are going up and up and up. arizona is all going to come down to turnout if enough people come out on election day to
6:10 pm
counterbalances the early voting numbers, then we could do very, very well. two weeks later in the state of wisconsin we are poised to have a terrific night in the state of wisconsin. >> let me ask this. it is kind of knot amusing. i know lindsey graham gave you a half hearted endorsement. he said if anybody ever shot ted cruz on the senate floor they wouldn't be convicted and tried on the senafloor of the senate. john mccain called you a whacko bird. here's what i want to know. why haven't these people stood up and fulfilled the promises to repeal and replace obamacare. why didn't they fulfill the
6:11 pm
promise of 2014 that would stop executive action on immigration in whey do they not understand what's going onnen in the election cycle? they seem mystified. >> that's why i am here on the senate floor. people across this country are from u frustrat frustrated. they are frustrated and angry because politicians keep lying to us. both parties they make promises and they doe to washington and do the exact opposite of what they promise. i understand there are millions of us that have been betrayed. >> i think the reason why our campaign is seeing so much enthusiasm from the grass-roots,
6:12 pm
so much passion. if you are looking for someone to stand up to washington the natural first question is, okay, who has stood up to washington. the leaders of their own party, i would say listen, donald trump did a masterful job of tapping into that anger. i get it you are ticked off at washington. donald is an angry, screaming, yelling, cursing voice. that feels like a natural vessel for that anger. if you if you are upset at the corruption in washington you don't solve that by supporting donald trump who has been enmeshed in the washington corruption for 40 years. >> i tell you what i want to do, before you came out, senator, i had an opportunity to talk to the crowd. we have -- i love you, too. we have 95 million of citizens out of the labor force.
6:13 pm
57 million in poverty 56 million on food stamps. you see this little girl on her daddy's shoulder over there. we have a debt and she will be working to pay it for the rest of her life. i want to talk to you about your plan to solve the nation's problems. welcome back. we will continue. it is hannity, we are on the road in phoenix arizona ahead of tuesday's big primary. thank you for being with us. {off-lin {off-line} sales event is on. with extraordinary offers on the stylish, all-new rx... and the dynamic nx. ♪ this is the pursuit of perfection. try phillips' fiber good gummies plus energy support. it's a new fiber supplement that helps support regularity

arizona. we are joined by the campaign trail hannity on the road with senator ted cruz for the entire hour. senator, the state of arizona knows probably as well as any other -- i know, i heard you. probably knows more than any one else, as much as anybody else maybe california and texas. i have been to the border at least ten times all of the way from the rio grand to san diego do go. i have seen gang members arrested on horse back, helicopter all-terrain vehicles and boats. it is a bad problem. we are paying trillions on our educational system and trill justice system. all across our healthcare system. how do we stop this? what do we do with the 11 million people here illegally? >> our immigration system right now the federal government is doing a horrible job of securing
6:17 pm
the border. it is utterly failing. i have been to douglas, arizona on the border. i have to tell you the border fence, what little fence there is there is so dilapidated. it is so ineffectual. you have met my daughters caroline and katherine. my 5-year-old katherine could climb that fence in about 3 seconds flat. we were there with a bunch of reporters. they said the camera shot isn't good enough so the reporters from the fence from mexico to get a better camera shot. they literally crossed illegal any in mexico and jumped right on over it. it is an absolute travesty. i met with ranchers down on the border who describe -- one woman said apparently one of the drug coyotes had been monitoring her and watching her. he hid the key outside and she
6:18 pm
found the key. she three different times came home and he showered and made himself a meal and washed the dishes and locked the door and left. the ranchers don't lock their doors because they praek in every day they face a threat. every day they see coyotes and they see drug legalers coming along. they are not securing the border and we know how to solve this. if they can't say they can't solve this they are not telling the truth. they are missing the -- they support illegal immigration. >> you are 100 percent right. i think the democratic party looks at a new voting it makes
6:19 pm
for them. they want cheap labor. >> democrats there's a politically correct term for illegal aliens. they just view it as we want more votes let people in illegally. republicans far too many of them are in bed with wall street and the special interests and the lobbyists and big business, all of whom look at illegal immigration as cheap labor. th so you have both parties failing. >> how fast could you build the feds and totally secure the border. >> we will start on day one. the first day in office i will rescind every single illegal and unconstitutional executive action barack obama has done. that is day one. going forward from there.
6:20 pm
we are going to build a wall, triple the border patrol, we are going to increase four fold the rotor ry wing aircraft. we are going to end sanctuary cities and we are doigoing to d that by cutting off federal money. if you are a sanctuary city you no longer get any tax payer dollars. we are going to put in place a strong e verify so you cannot get a job without proving you are here legally. we will put in a strong bio metric exit entry system for visas and end welfare benefits for those here illegally. >> last question on the topic. big controversy about what do you do with the people that are here that didn't respect our laws in sovereignty, what do we do with them? >> you enforce the laws and what the laws provide if you are here illegally you are deported. if you or i crossed over into mexico they would deport us. they would send us back. that's what sovereign nation is.
6:21 pm
>> it is worse than that. somebody from el salvador, nicaragua they are put in jail and sent back illegally and mexico lectures the united states. >> every nation on earthen forces immigration laws and they expect america not to do that. we welcome legal immigrants those who wait in line and follow the law. but this is a national security crisis. it is a law enforcement crisis. let me mention, donald trump has made immigration central to his campaign. and yet donald trump for four years has been funding open border democrats. the gang of eight amnesty group. they funded the gang of 80 gave over 50,000 dollars to five members of the gang of eight. he talks about immigration a lot. any one who has funded open border democrats for 40 years doesn't get to suddenly say they are going to secure the borders. the amazing thing is it was
6:22 pm
publically reported just a couple of months ago donald trump met with the editorial board in the new york times. they said you know everything i said on immigration, i don't believe it. i am not going to build a wall. we are not going to deport people. there is a tape of that meeting. and donald trump refuses to release the tape. i got to say to the voters, if you are fed up of politicians lying to you, if you are tired of being betrayed. donald trump is telling us and telling the new york times he's lying to us. the difference is, as president i will secure the border and we will end tillegal immigration. >> we are with senator ted cruz in phoenix arizona. hannity on the road stay there a lot more to come and a few special surprise guests. straight ahead. look like this.

welcome back, as we continue with senator ted cruz. senator, i had a chance to talk to this great audience. and one of the things i said, it's so sad to me that so many americans out of work, in poverty, on food stamps, and we have doubled our debt. how quickly, if you became the president of the united states, can you fix these problems, get people to work, out of poverty, stop this record spending, and deficit spending, how do you do that? >> we can start solving that immediately. that is my number one priority is bringing back jobs in economic growth. we've seen for seven years the disaster of the obama-clinton economy. we have the lowest percentage of americans working of any year since 1977 and wages have stagnated. i'll tell you, the reason i'm
6:26 pm
campaigning, the people i'm fighting for are the single moms working two and three part-time jobs who have had their hours forcibly reduced to 28 hours a week because obamacare kicks in at 30 hours a week. i'm fighting for the truck drivers and the mechanics, the union members, the men and women with callouss on their hands who have seen their wages stagnate. >> median income >> the young people here, we are at a university, young people coming out of school with student loans up to their eyeballs and scared, am i going to get a job. what does the future hold for me? that's who i am fighting for. that's what the selection was all about. one of the reasons i am so optimist optimistic. the obama clinton economy is a disaster. it is easy to do what donald trump does which is to yell
6:27 pm
about it. you have to actually have solutions to fix it. i will give you an example if your car sitting in the driveway and won't run, you don't want to stand in the driveway and yell and curse at the automobile. you want someone to actually lift the hood and fix it. >> that's what i am asking. the corporate inversion trillions of dollars overseas, we have more natural gas, more energy than the entire middle east combined. we are so stupid we don't happen to the resource and get the energy like one of our economy. >> the heart of the economy was small business. if you want to have the economy take off you have to take the federal government off the back

of the necks of the small business. regulators. tax reforms, regulatory reform and sound money. >> and support of flat tax. >> if i am elected president we will repeal every single word of obamacare. it is the biggest job killer in america and it is hammering small business and instead pass common sense healthcare reform that will help those personal and affordable. >> reagan in 8 years created 21348 new jobs and doubled the re news to the federal government. the longest peace time and economic growth. >> many don't know we can do that. let's take african americans. under african americans median income and african american families under barack obama has dropped about 500 a year. do you know under ronald reagan what median income and african american families did?
6:29 pm
it rose over $5,000 a year. you want to talk about changing the lives of those who are struggling and you do it through regulatory reform, repealing obamacare, reigning in the epa, pulling back the federal regulators that are killing small businesses and then tax reform passing a simple flat tax, and abolishing the irs. >> we have got to take a break. we are in phoenix, arizona 2016 republican candidate ted cruz for the hour. when we come back we have a few surprise guests and much more on "hannity" live on the road. we are grad you are with us.
