10:00 pm
i'll see you back at noon eastern tomorrow on welcome to the great state of wisconsin for on the record one our town hall with presidential candidate donald trump. first a little political impressitrivia. as you all know wisconsin is state of political passion and the site of hot political warfare. even a senate walk out where state senators fled to illinois. all eyes are on this state. wisconsin's primary is tuesday. it's a big deal. it's a stand alone primary.
10:01 pm
it will not be another for two weeks. nice to see you. >> nice to see you. >> okay. the audience will ask you questions. i'm going to take the first couple. you want to get rid of obama care. >> i do. we will . we'll replace it with something less expensive. >> say a woman had cancer 20 years ago, two children, single. there's no more obama care. she's got breast cancer back again. under trump care, what will it look like? >> we'll take care of her. >> how? >> let me explain something. we have so many options.
10:02 pm
we'll have competition among all of these insurance companies that want to compete. they also like the monopoly. we have whether it's health care. it's probably nine different options. the worst option is obama care. 35, 45, 50% increase this year in premiums. the deduct blgs are so high, unless you're just about ready to go, you'll never with able to use it. we're going the take care of people. we're going to have great health care for much less money. >> because of competition? what drives down the cost? >> it's competition. what we want, you can tailor make it.
10:03 pm
you'll have a lot of options. the insurance companies like the way it is. they're making a fortune. i call them the boundary lines. i said it didn't happen. they totally control the politicians. i'm a self-funder. i'm self-funding. i'm going to do what's right for the people. i'm the only one. probably since ross perot. it's been many, many years. i'm self-funding. i'm going to do the right thing. >> will it be universal? >> whoever wants it will have it.
10:04 pm
>> i said nobody is dying on the street if i'm president. the republicans said that's terrible. every time i speak, i say that to a big audience, the republicans, mostly, we have a lot of democrats. we're going have a lot of crossovers from democrats. we have a very big election coming up here in wisconsin. every time i say we're not going to allow people who have no money die on the street, i get standing ovations from the republicans. the people that write the different letters where they make money, they say that's terrible. that's terrible. i'll tell you what, people don't want to see that. we'll have unbelievable health care. when people can't afford it, we're going to help them out. we're going to help them out. got to.
10:05 pm
>> today gop chairman reince preibus said tone and tenor matter in this election. is it going to change or do you have no objection to >> i mean, i agree with him 100%. tone does matter. i get criticized by jeb bush. i don't like his tone. in the meantime, he's gone. i get criticized, i said my tone will change as soon as i finish the victory. i have two left. we had 17. we have two left. i'm leading by a lot. i'm leading my billions of votes. ted cruz would be a terrible candidate. i'm leading by millions of votes that nobody ever talks about. tone to me matters. being presidential matters.
10:06 pm
>> what does that mean? >> my wife said be more presidential. in other words, don't be so aggressi aggressive. don't we sort of want that. my daughter said, ivanka just had a baby. that's sort of why i'm doing this. people say why you doing this? it's make america great again. ivanka said, on the final debate be very presidential. i've had one in the debate. i've won all the debates. every single one of them. be presidential. i said the somebody hits me, i have to hit them back. i'm not going to say i'm not going to hit you back. >> what does that mean in. >> maybe not so aggressive and personal. when people get personal with me, they say they don't like my hair. if i said i didn't like their hair, it's a headline.
10:07 pm
my hair is not that bad, and it is my hair. they hit me, and i hit back harder. they disappear. that's what we want to lead the country. i promise you, let me finish it off. i'll be so presidential. you'll be so proud of me. >> you going to stop tweeting? >> i don't think so. it's like owning my own newspaper. i have 7.5 million people. picking up hundreds of thousands of people in a sort period of time. facebook, i have close to seven million people. instagram we have like two
10:08 pm
million. it's like the new york times without the losses. why should i give it up? >> as president? >> i would take it differently. as president, i think i would be very much different. obama does it a little bit. not that i want to use him as an example, but as president, i would probably not be doing it. maybe not doing it at all. millions and millions of people rely on it and love it. i'm the front-runner. i was going to say let's do that introduction again. i think some of it is because of social media. >> abortion. 1999, you were very pro-choice.
10:09 pm
>> that's very important. they never say that. >> i said it. i read it. >> if they go like ten seconds before, i was pained when i said it. i was like, like i really don't like it. i am pro-life. >> 2015, you made the announcement that you're pro-life. we have been all over the map. >> wasn't all over the map. >> tell me what you're thinking. >> i'm pro-life. ronald reagan was pro-life with the exceptions. life of the mother, rape, incest. with the three exceptions. that was ronald reagan. that's been he. it's been me for quite a period of time. if you did this and did that,
10:10 pm
interestingly the question was asked of me. i've had so many, you talk about twitter, so many people on twitter. he was saying what an answer. that was a good answer. so many people say good answer. nobody's going to do for more women than me. nobody respects women more than me. wem go through a lot. they go through a tremendous punishment of themselves. i didn't like, because i wasn't sure people would understand it. it clarified it. it was a clarification. i think it was accept accepted. >> a question from the audience. we have a question from amy. >> thank you for taking my question. my husband and i are hard working middle class folks. every year it's tax season i'm shocked to see how much we pay into taxes every year.
10:11 pm
i know people who have no jobs and no income who are getting 4,000 to $5,000 tax returns. how can this happen and what are you going to do to create a tax system that is fair and balanced for everyone? >> such a great question. we're giving the biggest tax rates of any decrease. any candidate running. or has run. it's not even close. the one criticism would be it's too much. our middle class has been run out of town. they have been run out of country. our jobs have been taken. everything is taken. our people are paying more taxes. in terms of taxes, no country in the world has higher taxes that the united states.
10:12 pm
i think you'll love it. you're not going to have to go out and hire these firms. very simple. very few brackets. one of the things we're doing for business, which is important, we have companies that are leaving the country because they can't bring money into the country. there are trillions of dollars outside of the country. we're going to have all this money will come back in. we're going to keep our companies in the united states. so important. a big, big tax reduction.
10:13 pm
>> does everybody get a tax break, even the very rich? >> the very rich will be paying -- first of all, on the very rich. let me explain. we have things in the very rich that are so unfair to the public especially the hedge fund guys that are very complex. lot of people wouldn't understand. the ones that i'm really concerned about, i like the workers. i call them the workers of this country the best. i don't necessarily like the very rich even though i'm one of the very rich. the very rich are going to probably paying more. there's an intcentive for them o invest in the country. dpl let me ask you about washington. [ applause ] in order the change the tax code, you have to get washington to work. there's so much special interest
10:14 pm
built in. every single one of the 3300 exemptions is the special interest of somebody. how are you going to get this to happen? >> i'll get them to do it. >> how? >> i've been dealing with politicians all my life. if you can't deal with the politician there's something wrong with you. i filed all my papers. they are beautifully filed. they said at the federal elections off they've never seen it. it's like a feeding freeze zi. they were hoping it wouldn't be so good. it turned out it's not only good, much bigger than anyone thought, it's a phenomenal company. >> you think you can get washington to work? >> yeah. that's the kind of thinking our country needs. we have $19 trillion in debt. i deal with politicians. i was an accomplishment person nine months ago before i decided
10:15 pm
to run. it's not like they're bad people. they have reasons for not doing it. you have a president that has no control over his own party yet alone republicans. you're supposed to get them in a room and make good deals, not bad deals. that's what i can do. >> a question from the audience from jamie. >> what are your thoughts on minimum wage and the fight for 15 movement? >> minimum wage is a very, very complex situation. we're a non-competitive country. one of the big problems we have are wages. i'm going to make our country so competitive that people at minimum wage will escape it. they're going to go up and make a lot of money. they'll have companies and be involved with companies that are successful.
10:16 pm
we're going to bring jobs back from china and mexico. taking our money and our jobs. in wisconsin, you take a look. your manufacturing jobs in wisconsin are way, way down. i used to think wonderful things by wisconsin. i was given a plaque by governor walker because i supported him. >> he's not supporting you. >> he's not. because i knocked him out of presidency. it was a cover story. i've had many more than him. it was a story. it was one photograph toward the end.
10:17 pm
when i looked it it, i said it's true. when i get up an started hitting him with information about wisconsin, your jobs, your loss of trade, your loss of so much, all of a sudden he went from being the front-runner to saying bye bye, i'm getting out of race. >> we have another question. >> people don't know the facts. >> we have another question. are you supporting donald trump? >> i'm an independent voter. >> he will be. >> i've seen first hand the devastation the war has caused our servicemen and women. the va reports that 22 veterans commit suicide bper day. you have said you plan to repeal obama care. how would you address the mental health needs that our
10:18 pm
veterans -- mental health needs are better and clearly ignored. >> it's a huge question. i get the question all the time especially regarding mental health for the veterans. they have gone under trauma like nobody has seen trauma. here's what we're doing. the veterans have been treated horribly. i have endorsed by so many veterans. i'm sure most of your friends are endorsing me. the va is so badly run. it's corrupt. if you look at the phoenix, va, it's so corrupt and bad. it's all over the country. people waiting in line, you know five, six, seven days just to see a doctor. we have so many suicides in the veterans administration.
10:19 pm
a lot of them can't get to see their doctor. a person waiting online for a certain period of time, they have to right to go out to see a doctors that's in their community. some of the people have to travel for day to get to a veterans hospital. it's a horrible situation. i know it so well. they endorsed me in new hampshire. they have a tremendous veterans population in new hampshire. i learned so much about the veterans and the veterans problems from the people of new hampshire. we have to.

the polls. you talked about how important competition is. in a president trump administration, what would you do about the fact that alaska airlines is looking to purchase virgin america. >> you would end up with one big fat airline. you know some of them are not running well. we're going to have a lot of problems in the country. i see mergers and different things. what do i need certain injuries against me. you got to have competition to be great.
10:25 pm
they don't have the competition. they have all these gates but nobody can get in. i want to see competition at all levels. >> first of all, who are you voting for on tuesday? will you tell us? >> if he answers my question. >> fair. go ahead. >> i don't know how much you know about wisconsin. we have a lot to be proud of here, bear, cheese, packers. we're proud of our university system. we're incredibly blessed and amazed to have a public university. 10:26 pm
college tuition. several other candidates have come out for their plan. do you have plan, and if so, do you have way of paying for it. >> there's no such thing as free education. you know that ultimately somebody else will be paying for it. a something that's in politics, i'd love to say free education. all the people paying their rates will go up. if you took 100% of everybody think their taxes were, literally everything was paid in tax. it's just words. it's just words. i get that question more than any single question. the first question i get always
10:27 pm
is student debt and why is it so expensive. the students are here. the government gives them money you look at the way college courses are rising, they are letting them fo up. the problem is the students are getting crushed. we have to keep it down. i don't think they care what the costs are because they get so much money. we're going to do something for the students. it's unbelievable. i get this question so much. consta constantly, not even from students. i'm going to create jobs. people say what does that have
10:28 pm
to do with it? >> the biggest problem is you have student debt and you're a good student and went to a wonderful college and you can't get a job. we're going to bring jobs back to this country. all these countries, and i could name 40 of them. weaver going to bring the jobs back. we're fwing to keep our companies here. we're not going to let pfizer go. we're going to do something with extenses and lower interest rates. >> we have more questions for donald trump. we're going to take a short break. we'll be back with our on the record 2016 town hall.
