york, trump sweeps the field with more than 50% of likely republicans primary voters going his way, meaning he could potentially win all 95 of the state's delegates if that majority holds. and yesterday back out on the campaign trail, trump was reminding new york voters what the texas senator said earlier this race. >> you know, lying ted cruz came today, he couldn't draw 100 people. do you remember during the debate when he started lecturing me on new york values, like we're no good. >> but a lot of new yorkers did not need to be reminded of those comments and a couple showed up to ted cruz's campaign event in the bronx to let him know. >> we're at the forefront of change here. people are dying.

miles to get here because -- absolutely, thank goodness for the nassau county cop who was able to get me here. what is your mind set going into this lap, april, may and june? >> we want to keep it going the same. we're leading by so much. we want to keep it the same. i'm on friendly territory. it is new york. you see that. as soon as i'm finished, i'm going to listen to my daughter speak. we're in very friendly territory. i'm loving the feeling. i think we're going to do very well. >> i know you have a plan for the convention, get to the c conventi convention. do you have a plan? >> i do. i have a strong plan. i think i'm going to get it, but i have a strong plan. >> describe what is here tonight. >> a lot of people here obviously. a lot of supporters. i think there truly is a movement for people who want change. >> you already know who you're voting for? >> i believe i'm going to vote for him.

every candidate is not perfect. you got to get a perfect candidate in any one. you win some, you lose some. but you have to look at the bigger picture. the bigger picture is he has a lot of experience and he's done well with his life. and i believe that he will do well for the country. >> 67% of trump's followers say the controversial statements have had no impact on their decision to support him. that is according to a new monmouth university poll. >> bernie sanders overtaking hillary clinton in a new national poll following his win in wisconsin. sander has nearly half the votes while clinton is slightly behind, 47%. the candidates starting to feel the heat and now taking jabs at each other. >> she has been saying lately she thinks i am quote/unquote not qualified to be president. i don't think you are qualified if you get $15 million from wall street through your super pac.

disclosing this to apple, how do we think about who we can help with this and what are the rules with which we help them. >> legislation is expected today. sources telling us that it will reinforce a court's order for access to anything, whether it be a safe deposit box or mobile device. a ranger in texas killed in a minor accident because of an exploding that kae ining takata. shrapnel came flying out hitting the girl in the neck. she was driving a honda civic. honda sent several recall notices but repairs were never made on her car. exploding takata air bags are blamed for ten deaths in the u.s. a fast moving wildfire moving through two states. it started in arizona and jumped the colorado river into california. hundreds of acres are already scorched and two mobile home parks evacuated. dry conditions and high winds making it hard for firefighters to contain. and in oklahoma, the governor

declaring a state of emergency in ten counties. a wildfire there had burned nearly 60,000 acres. and pack your umbrella and grab your rain boots. it will be a cold wet one out there today. >> that cold weather needs to go away. maria is joining us now tracking the latest for us. good morning. >> unfortunately the storm system isn't going to bring rain across some areas where we really need it, like across parts of plains where we have red flag warnings in effect because of the dry conditions that are forecast to continue out there with low humidity and strong winds. but east of that, we have this massive storm system that is pushing eastward, across the great lakes and bringing in some areas of rainfall and even some snow on the back side of it, across parts of michigan. a lot of this moirb will continue pushing eastward and across parts of new england, you have a concern for flooding today as a storm will bring a lot of heavy rain out there with several inches possible. temperatures right now behind this storm system quite chilly, only in the 30s in minneapolis and chicago. meanwhile, ahead of it,

minneapolis for a gunman who shot a woman four times in a fit of road rage. here is how it happened. police say the victim honked her horn at a suspect car in rush hour traffic. that's when the driver cut her off, pulled alongside her and the passenger inside opened fire. incredibly she managed to drive herself less than a mile to a restaurant where workers there called 911. she is expected to be okay. fear and panic, university of texas. a body of a student is found in a creek on campus. the apparent victim of a murder. >> as a woman, it can be frightening. i hope her family is okay. >> this is not what you expect when you go to college at all. >> austin police admitting they have no concrete leads now. the victim's name or cause of death isn't being released. but the school did say she was a freshman dance student. the ut community now rallying around each other.

a teacher facing charges for carrying a concealed weapon into a school in newtown, connecticut, the same town where the deadliest school shooting happened in u.s. history. another teacher spotted the gun and turned jason adams in. he does have a gun permit, but it is illegal to bring a gun into schools in the state of connecticut. he faces up to five years in prison. walk your kids to school and you might be arrested. that is what one magnolia, texas, elementary school is telling parents. the principal says that the rule keeps kids safe, but parents say that safety has never been an issue. >> this policy implies a parent doesn't have the ability or capability to decide what is safest for their children and the school district does. i disagree. >> now, all kids no matter how close they live have to be driven or take the bus. the district is backing the principal. now a fox business alert for

welcome back to "fox & friends first." fox news alert for you. growing concern this morning over the safety of u.s. troops surrounded by isis on a base in sinai, egypt. while top administration officials say that it is not a question on if, but when and instead of taking the enemy out before it strikes. u.s. troops are sitting ducks, they say, not allowed to strike first. the pentagon says added artillery and centers mounted on blimps to help protect the force but have in plans to withdraw. one of the isis terrorists who detonated a bomb in brussels airport had a job inside the european parliament.

european union officials say nasheem worked as a janitor inside the parliament building between 2009 and 2010. belgium authorities are unsure how he managed to get past the vetting process, calling it a total mess. he is believed to have helped make the bombs that went off in paris last year, killing 130 people. it is time now to brew on this. and, hey, kids, how privileged are you? if that question makes you a little uncomfortable, well, buckle up, imagine how the parents of 13 and 14-year-old students felt when their kids were handed this privilege survey in their spanish class of all places, heather. >> that survey asked the 7th and 8th graders to circle all answers that applied to them about questions of race, gender, sexuality. the teacher says she was teaching them about inequality, but outraged parents say this lesson got lost in translation.

mcclatchy/marist poll. trump leads the field with 40%, slightly ahead of cruz at 35%. john kasich at 20%. in the empire state, though, it isn't even close. trump is dominating his home state in the latest monmouth university poll with more than half of likely republican voters saying he's their top pick to be the nominee. if that majority holds, it would mean that trump could potentially sweep all 95 of the state's delegates. back on the campaign trail yesterday, trump was also taking shots at his leading democratic rival and adopted new yorker hillary clinton. >> how bad is hillary? i will beat hillary so badly in the general election. had her and bill had a bad evening, believe me. believe me. that was a bad evening. but i haven't started. if it is hillary, i don't know it will be hillary. maybe. maybe. maybe something's going to

switching gears completely. the country music world mourning the loss of an icon. ♪ proud to be a hokey from miskogee ♪ >> merle haggard died on his birthday. his career spanned six decades including dozens of number one hits. tributes have been pouring in. charlie daniels tweeting this, country music suffered one of the greatest losses it will ever experience. rest in peace, merle haggard. dierks bentley said, literally just fell to the floor, can't believe we lost the hag. rip merle haggard. and willie nelson shared this picture of him and merle haggard laughing. it says, he was my brother, my friend, i will miss him. and we obviously don't have that. but he will be missed by all.
