>> good saturday to you. brand-new hour coming your way. nice to be with you at home. >> welcome to america's election headquarters in washington. >> hard to believe the famous escalator ride kicked off the campaign and now he is the last man standing in the majority being seasoned politicians. a reporter with bloomberg politics has been covering the campaign from the very beginning. he has been firsthand to witness how he went from a punch line to a presumptive nominee. he joins us from trump's rally in spokane, washington. thank you very much for joining us. >> thank you for having me. >> i want to ask you during the primary season, trump was not going to be accepting donations. would that be changing?

>> absolutely. in fact this week mr. trump will be hosting a fund-raiser for chris christie that comes after his top aides have said that the campaign is forming a finance committee and they will fund-raise for the campaign and also for the republican parties. they insist they want to get as many republicans elect said as possible so that is if trump were to become president, he would govern the republican-controlled congress. >> i want to pull up the polls and you are probably not able to see that because you are at a busy rally. i want to ask your observation as the campaign has gone on. before donald trump announces back in june, he was polling around 4%. you fast forward after he announced he was pulling 11%. that's a huge jump in a short period. he is the presumptive nominee. i want to ask from someone who

has been following closely, what is it like to watch this happen over the course of a couple of months. >> over the past couple of months, i have been all over the country and interviewed countless voters, including people in the candidacy and the many people for him. the people who support him are loyal to him. they believe they want a political outsider, someone who is not going to be beholden to machine and feel like the process and the system as a whole has not heard their voices and they see a fighter in donald trump and will get to washington and shake things up and candidly bring back the economy that for so many americans feel like hasn't really improved since the economic collapse. >> there has been reports that donald trump has been flying by the seat of his pants. he planned this campaign years ago. he had applied to the trademark

of make america great again six days after obama was reelected. the man, the myth. is it true that you feel like he is a calculated campaign he is running? >> i think it's a strategic campaign and he wouldn't be able to win if he didn't have the strategy. you are right. he always flirted with the idea of running for office as far back as 1990s when oprah asked him if he was going to run for president. he always has been asked those questions and of course in the past couple of years in 2012 as well, he rumored that he might be running for office. this is something i think that he is willing to do in 2016 because he feels this is his moment and his time. >> we only have about 30 seconds left, the reports that clinton

to hillary clinton and bernie sanders gets three. next contest is tuesday when west virginia holds their primary. >> we are waiting on a press conference from canadian authorities on a desperate situation in the province of alberta as a massive wildfire burns out of control. thousands of displaced residents are getting a sobering driveway by view as convoys continue out of the area. they fear the blaze could double in size by the end of today. the state of emergency has been declared. take a look at this view from space to put it out of nasa. this gives you an idea of how massive this fire is. it burned more than quarter of a million acres. 1600 homes and other buildings have already been destroyed. that's unbelievable. >> back to that and the news comes in.

north carolina remains defined in the face of a monday deadline in the bathroom bill. legislators won't meet that deadline and they won't host the bullies that require people to use the bathroom of their birth gender rather than the gender they identify with. in retaliation, the feds could stop billions of dollars or supposed to head to north carolina. the attorney general is here to offer perspective. appreciate you joining us, sir. if you look the at what the justice department is citing, if you read i am not a lawyer, but i see sex discrimination show up a lot and i don't see gender identity show up a lot. is this a stretch in applying the law from 40 years ago to now. >> it is a bit of an overreach. they determine on the basis of

sex. since title nine and other aspects were passed, everyone interpreted that to mean the basis of biological sex. gender identity has been interpreted by bureaucrats to mean gender identity. >> not by courts. >> no. a recent decision upheld the interpretations, but no court had the issue. that is an overreach and no one intended when the laws were passed. >> it wasn't an issue. if you think about the idea of gender identity and saying you can use whatever bathrooms and dealing with high school graduates and a lot of kids going to college, if this is upheld, couldn't some young man who identifies as a woman say gee, not only do i want to use the girl's bathroom, but go to sleep in the girls's dorm. >> it could if you identify as your nonbiological gender. the way the government interpreted it, that would be

the result for every university that accepts federal funds. this whole controversy is somewhat of a solution in search of a problem. i wouldn't see a great deal of controversy of people using the wrong bathroom or molestation. they are extending the civil rights act does seem to be a bit of a reach. >> it seems to open up a lot in terms of unintended consequences that we could look at going forward. how does this get decided. they say no, no, you have to let everyone use whatever bathroom they want. they say no you don't, we will pass whatever law we want and you not only have the issue of the basketball safety, but other things they are citing. where does this end? >> one of two ways. the vision could see and enforce their laws which is what they threatened to do or withhold

funding and the government could withhold funding from the university and schools of north carolina. >> elementary kids in raleigh, north carolina are paying the price. >> yes, i mean if process takes a long time. civil rights is in two ways. one is withholding federal funds and the threat could be made by the federal government and that would be resolved as to whether or not the interpretation of the act is correct. >> this is just the beginning not only of what is happening, but the debate is over gender identity and what bathrooms and dorms they can use. come on back as the fight continues. >> yes, sir. >> for the latest on this story, go to fox news sunday tomorrow. chris wallace has an exclusive with north carolina governor as the state bumped up against that monday deadline. they will be about 24 hours away. check your local listings for time and channels.

>> let's go live to canada in alberta at the operations center. they are giving an update on the massive wildfire sweeping across the region. let's listen in live. >> 12 pieces of heavy equipment and 14 air tankers at work on the wildfire. this is canada. canadians work together in the face of a disaster like this. yesterday i introduced you to the general coordinating the help we are-ing. recollect provinces and territories are stepping up to help. 82 wildfire fighters arrived and four air tankers from quebec as well. an air tanker is arriving from the northwest territory as well. about 40 wildfire fighters arrived on may 10th. 20 will arrive from new brunswick on may 11th. saskachewan will help with the coordinating work.

manitoba is providing 22 additional firefighting experts to augment the work being done. to the people of ontario, quebec, new brunswick and the northwest territories, let me extend sincerest thanks. i want to thank the premier and new bruns week senior brian gaulant and senior bob mcleod for this important help. they have been put under volunteer tear evacuation. residents have been moved and 450 people remain in the community. we are working with shell and the red cross to evacuate them in the event it becomes necessary. we are managing a number of other wildfires today. i will ask my colleague at the provincial center to update you on those fires in a moment.

obviously this fire is affecting energy operations in the region. yesterday they are a precautionary evacuation from the facilities and civilians from the lodge. the fire could burn the edges of this today. the facility should be emphasized is highly resilient to forest fires. as we have seen in the past when it has been threatened by very large fires. we are still none the lessng th efforts to protect the facility are under way and we will have more details on this in a few minutes. they decided to do a precautionary evacuation of the personnel from the facilities starting at 5:00 this morning. the government of alberta is working with the energy industry to do a careful assessment of the affect of this fire on the industry. i expect to have a more detailed report on monday on this particular issue. let me conclude by saying this. yesterday the mayor and i

visited the center in edmonton. i can't x press how impressed i was by the staff and the volunteers working there. in our nine other reception centers across alberta. i met families who picked up and evacuated on a few hours's notice who are understandably worried and anxious about what is going to happen next, about their children's school and belongings. i know that both the mayor and i left more tomorrowed than ever to do our very best. we are, wooing to get people safe. then to make the city safe and to work out a plan for return. then to ensure that that community functions at the same high level it always has. then to get that community rebuilt. >> you are listening live to officials there giving an update on that massive alberta wildfire. we heard really a huge combined effort there, a staggering number of firefighters to take

on that blaze. she also listed a number of evacuation orders for cities surrounding that fire which continues to grow. there has been a lot of question about the energy operations and whether or not they would be affected. she said there has been preliminary evacuations of nonessential personnel. she also said a lot of the energy operations are highly reil sillient to wildfires. we will bring you the latest and if anything else develops, we will bring that to you. >> this election was not without controversy. i am so proud that london has today chosen hope over fear and unity over division. i hope that we will never be offered such a stark choice again. fair does not make it safer and

southern california has a nasty weather system passing over that area. heavy rain and thunderstorms stranded drivers trying to make it through flooded roads. in ontario, california, a warehouse roof collapsed. employees were trying to sweep water out of the doors before they were forced to evacuate. flash flood warnings have been issued in several counties in california. >> when can we expect the rain to taper off? we have more on that and the rest of your forecast. >> hi, liz. we have a good news situation. they need the rainfall, but too much can lead to flooding issues. we are watching the system across the west and not only bringing rain, but more snow for the higher elevations.

this is the storm system that is going to move into southern and central u.s. today, tomorrow, also into monday. that could give us the risk for severe storms. as this low gets out of the rockies, it will bring hail and damaging winds and heavy rainfall and tornados. not only today, but through monday. there is the severe threat today and across the high plains and moving into the ohio river valleys. tomorrow we have more of a risk for mother's day across the areas where we see the potential for tornados across texas all the way up into nebraska with an emphasis here on oklahoma and kansas. that's where we could see the threat for not only hail and damaging winds, but tornados. we will keep a close listen to your local forecasters. then into monday, the system moves towards the mississippi river valley with an emphasis on texas, oklahoma and arkansas,

have specifics on how she would do that and they say she will take time. >> nevertheless, either one of the proposals talking about she wants to have every home in america powered by clean energy in the next four years. that ain't cheap. >> certainly not, but it is doable. in layman's terms, 33% energy in the country, right now we are around 15 at best. it's a huge change. it costs a lot of money, but it is achievable. >> $7 million, somewhere in there. as you look at both of these, have either learned from what you might call the failures of the obama clean energy policy? >> they are continuing the obama clean energy policy. frankly when you pull the base outside of these regions, the plan is popular. they know the democrats are not going to win in november. they are giving up on it.
