as a kid he actually wished he was an ons score meyer -- he was an oscar meyer wiener. i am getting a smile out of you. i hope we have that on tape. what do we think of this? should paul ryan be ashamed 1234. >> no. it is a more honorable job than congress. >> it is a workable job. >> and either way you are dealing with things that are bad for you. i i don't see what the problem is. >> this is the dash cash what do you call it? it is the tightrope you have to walk. >> trump and ryan are meeting on thursday. my guess is they will come out of there shaking hand and everything will be fine. right now it is like ryan is saying i'll step down if trump doesn't want me. i feel like he is like please ask me to step down. i don't want to do this. >> do we have the ad from
12:04 am
the -- paul ryan has released an attack ad. let's look at that. >> this bike was built in wisconsin. we build some of the baddest bikes on the planet. before paul ryan went to washington wisconsin was a manufacturing power house. i'm a businessman. >> he's a businessman. i don't know if he is pro-gun, but he is pro-guns. look. >> mr. speaker, you champion the trade deal. if you don't want to debate me maybe we can arm wrestle. >> did you know that was the same guy? that gun guy and the dorky guy was the same guy. >> you're kidding me. >> i'm serious. no wonder he wants to go sleeveless in the commercial.
12:05 am
>> this guy, paul nieland, he a little awkward. people are so into the anti-establishment that he can beat paul ryan. >> trump was not popular in wisconsin so do you think that's why he lost wisconsin and cruz by a big margin. do you think that's why he is keeping his distance because he is winning re-election? >> paul ryan is trying to win re-election, but even the people who voted for cruz were not into the establishment. i actually think it is trump trying to beat paul ryan. they would be off and he would be like, little rhino ryan, jump back in your mobile. >> he would go there, right? >> oh yeah he would and it would be epic. i think this guy can beat paul ryan because he is
12:06 am
anti-establishment. i am so confuse wetted -- confused with the names. >> it all confuses me. >> he wants to be the standard bear for the old republican party we knew, oh, just six months ago. and i don't think he is scared. he was a vice presidential nominee after all and incumbents have a high re-election rate. >> what is he doing stepping down? >> it is not his party. he is a kid in high school whose parents went away and all of the jocks are going over there. they want him buying the beer and he is fine with that. it will be the craziest republican convention we have ever seen. it will be like wrestle mania and he won't fit in. >> he doesn't wnt to deal with -- he doesn't want to deal with it. >> he is less of a chair and more of of a doormat. this is like the first time i have liked the guy. i think if there is anything americans can agree on it is we love wieners.
12:07 am
>> he is a good looking goi. you have seen him in the crossfit videos. >> paul ryan is attractive. this other guy looks like the only other guy i can beat at an arm wrestle. >> when he is on the bike he looks tough. >> he does not look tough. >> let's be frank. driving the wiener mobile. >> it takes balls. >> you know they will be a -- you have to be a confident guy because they will pick on you. >> i driefd the o -- i drove the orangina. is that your math homework or are you planning an act of terror? american airlines grounded a plane after a female passenger reported a suspicious dark-skinned, curly haired man with an exotic accept writing

cryptic messages. he appeared laser focused, perhaps too laser focused on the task at hand. the woman alerted a flight attendant and the regional plane sat on the tarmac delayed. fennelly the man -- finally the man was removed and interrogated. it was in fact calculus equations. the suspected it terrorist was none other than the ivy league economist. yes, that guedo. they say he was treated well, but then he noted that it is hard not to recognize the ethos of his voting base. of course only in trump's america. wait a minute. kristen, do you think it is unfair to pin this flight delay on donald trump? >> we are all told when we see something, say something. that's what she did. these are differential

equations. maybe this woman was some kind of genius and found out these differential equations were the key to nuclear fissions. we don't know. it is better safe than sorry. that's what we always say. >> how do we know what happens in the scribblings. >> that did does not apply to nerds doing math. >> to be fair she could not tell it was mathematics. i was not there. the woman was apparently wearing the official uniform of wal-mart, flip-flops and a red shirt or something like that. look, people are scared right now. the guy doesn't look exactly like her next door neighbor and she is on a plane. if you read the article she did ask him -- she tried to engage in a conversation. >> he was stuck in his notebook. >> and he didn't blame her so much. the system is not exactly working and let's not kid anybody. it doesn't. if she is not looking out for her own safety, who is?
12:10 am
>> she should have been kicked off the plane for trying to engage a stranger in conversation. just keep your damn mouth shut and leave me alone. what are you doing? >> i agree, but somebody doing math in their spare time could be trouble. >> how do you not recognize guedo. >> i know my math whizs, but not all of them. i don't know if i would recognize him. these math guys tend to be a little awkward and they are are weird. then when they are working on an equation they sometimes get excited, but they don't want to talk to people. he may seem nervous. i don't blame him. i had flights delayed over the littlest thing. people make a stink and then the flight is delayed. >> this is what the government has asked for as you pointed on out. this is what happens when an untrained person sees something. she didn't see anything. she saw a guy working on

okay. >> he has a special place in his heart for the ivy league. oakland ease police department issued a special cinco-de-mayo. it has become synonymous with fiesta siesta's. it often leads to drunk driving and there is no victory in that. they announced extra dui patrols and sensitive people complained including a latino group. oakland police is going to put out extra patrol. i wonder if they will be posting psa's for every culturally-based holiday. after the social media blow back the police no longer apologized, but they canceled the checkpoints. >> should they have been off fended.
12:13 am
>> >> it is ridiculous. >> you know what, there should have been extra dui patrols on cindo de mayo. you know what we do? we drink margaritas. there is nothing untrue about the statement the police put out there. this is the most hyper sensitive thing since leaving the reservation. someone should still explain to me why that is so offensive. >> i think andy will explain it to you. white people who party and drink margaritas. >> are you just nodding your head? >> i am half an sjw, you know that. >> i would say 80%. >> it never said drunk mexicans are a problem. it said present day celebrations lead to drunk driving. that's not even aimed at
12:14 am
mexicans. that's aimed at somebody who gets drunk on sin co cindo de mayo who is not just mexicans. white people will get drunk on cindo de mayo and the police need to put up checkpoint on holidays like that, fourth of july. >> you just have to put the dui checkpoint out there. >> that's true. >> what if they did that? imagine if they had extra police on st. patrick's day and how irish men would throw such a fit. >> i think they go out and -- >> they do. i don't notice anything extra that happens on st. patrick's day. >> the cops are all irish. >> i couldn't wrap my head around this story. i am still too hung over. >> look, people engage in drink. it is basically them saying -- they didn't say are you having a fiesta in jail? >> they have a spanish thing
12:15 am
on the main title. maybe use your own language because that offend people. >> the police apologized for being insensitive about a cultural holiday. i didn't even know sin co de my wroa was a cultural holiday. i thought it was an excuse to get as drunk as possible and throw up on your best friend. >> they wanted to get rid of the checkpoint because would you want to be the schmuck to check every person to see if they were drinking too much? >> it seems to me police enjoyed doing checkpoint. every one i go through the cops are having a good time. >> they love slowing down traffic. i am opposed to these checkpoints. what about you? i don't like having to stop. they should stop bad guys only and not good guy. >> it makes no sense for that to be coming out of your mouth. you are mr. read all of my e-mails. >> profile people.

live from america's news headquarters i'm kelly wright, good morning. terrifying and deadly weather in our nation's planes overnight. more than 40 million people were at risk and the threat isn't over yet. violent storms from texas to iowa are being blamed for at least two deaths. the destruction is widespread and communities report homes damaged and trucks overturned. some of the weather is so bad that forecaster at one point declared a tornado emergency in parts of oklahoma. the ohio and tennessee valleys might be next and another

large system is expected to sweep from texas to missouri by wednesday. in canada fire crews are feeling more optimistic as they battle a massive wildfire that has so far torched1600 homes and other buildings in alberta. with the cooler temperatures in the forecast over the neck few days, the firefighters are hoping to be able to put out the hotspots. a team has also been town -- been sent to the town of fort mcmurray to help the tens of thousands of evacuees there. "el chap o" will face justice in the u.s. the country's foreign minister though needs to sign off on it and the defense can also appeal. chapo faces a number of u.s. charges including kidnapping and murder. the identity of the nation's newest multimillionaire is still a mystery. a $400 million powerball

jackpot remains unclaimed. lottery officials are waiting for the sole winner of saturday's drawing to come forward and claim the prize. we do not know who it is, but we do know the winning ticket sold at a 7-eleven in trenton, new jersey. >> big win. more than 10 years i work here. what's trending on facebook? liberalism. facebook features trending topics in its news feed. here is how they describe it. trending shows have topics that are popular on facebook. the topics are based on a number of factors including engagement and your location. sound innocent enough. former employees who work as news aggregatorses said they were instructed to artificially suppress the conservative topics and inject the nontrending liberal topics
12:22 am
to the feed to make them trend. they revealed there was no company wide policy. the judgments were based on the subjective decisions on supervisors and fellow employees. making facebook no surprise just like almost every other mainstream website and like all other media skewed to the left. is it a conspiracy? not really. it is a fact of life. i don't like wining about media bias. it is not really bias. my left hand isn't bias. it is a left hand. i have to recognize it for what it is. the bad hand. >> andy, you understand what i am saying, right? >> as i sit here with my pen in my left hand i sit here listening to what you have said. i think you are partially right. the place where you are wrong is because social media like facebook and twitter are where the sites get a lot of referrals from. if this is true it affects the
12:23 am
bottom line of places that can't get their stuff out there like conservative websites. even if you set the bias aside the first is transparency. if you tell them something is being done by an algorithm there is an expectation it won't be a bias. when you say something is trending, when you use the word trending, there is an expectation that it is trending, ie being talked about and not that some employee has decided it is something you should be talking about. be honest. you have to tell people you are letting the human does this and stop calling it trending and call it stories we think you should care about. and then, fine, those problems go away and until you do that, it is dishonest. >> strangely, let me defend facebook here. stories were trending, but they weren't trending on facebook. if they saw something on twitter they don't want to be the uncool sight so they

goofed it a little bit. that was part of the inclination. >> i feel like if they can hide stories why am i seeing pictures every time my ex-boyfriend from high school gets remarried -- >> he does this a lot? >> quite a few times and i am tired of seeing it. i wish we can get a little more control. i looked today and justin bieber and simon cowell and julie -- julianne moore. >> so it is working? >> no, it is not working. >> you are not into simon cowell? >> no. >> i went on the drugs report and they acted like this is a scandal. but i am not surprised at all. >> the drugs report. >> i go to drug support because i like that news aggregator. he is a news aggregator that
12:25 am
has stories i like. facebook, i don't expect the kids of facebook to give me my news. >> it is not a news organization. you need to lower your expectation. if you are going to facebook for news, you are barking up the wrong tree. if you want to find out what 90s sitcom character you were, that's the perfect place to go. >> what about at keek.com. what do they do there? >> you have to be in the middle east. >> you are like the news aggregator. >> yes and i have bias to what i want to put on there. >> that's the way to do it. >> this is mark zuckerburg's website. interest didn't he just buy planned parenthood? again, who is going on facebook for actual news? >> i totally agree with andy here. it is not a problem. just be honest about it. i think we all kind of know
12:26 am
and have known for awhile that facebook is less leaning. i have never seen a news story trending. the trending stories are like global warming is getting worse by the minute and hillary bad and trump bad. hillary good and trump bad. it is all of the stuff that is liberal. i don't think this is a news story. >> they came out with the statement. you sent it to me and i didn't want to use it on my story. facebook denied this whole thing. they do deny it and they said it is not a company policy. it was being done -- so it is possible that facebook candy. it and -- can deny it and say this is what we do and they were doing it on their own. >> there is nothing to prevent it from happening. >> join me on facebook. >> coming up -- wait a minute. it is half time with tv's andy levy?

stand against sexual assault. we support survivors. this is the -- this is everyone's problem. now that doesn't seem that bad to me anyway. they appeared in april. some students found the messages to be in poor taste. they wrote an op-ed for their lack of self-awareness and called them nothing more than a cruel reminder that frats are male privilege and bad behavior. to display a banner saying we support survivors is something you have to earn by actually walking the walk. what is going on? this seems a little ridiculous. let the guys be sensitive guys, right? >> this is more proof you can never placate liberal. a lot of these sexual assault
12:32 am
claims are not true. look what happened at duke university for lacrosse players. i want to call for a national i was accused of sexual assault day. it is bad to accuse someone of sexual assault when they didn't do it. >> farrah, i want you to have that point of view. well, that's fine. okay. fraternity brothers are statistically 300% times more likely to rape than unaffiliated --
12:33 am
>> is that true? >> that's a fact. >> it seems suspicious to me. >> what they are asking for them to do is walk the walk and talk the talk. they have a problem with this that needs to be addressed. >> do you think they will put them outside with the message on them? were they being insincere? >> i don't think they were being insincere and i read the piece she wrote. i don't think it was a deep criticism on them of the i think she she was saying this is great and it is not enough and i don't think it is too much to ask them to do little more than hang a banner when there is a serious problem in the culture that needs to be addressed. >> i should have gone to you first. >> that's fine. >> she was too polite to say so, but the reason you lied is
12:34 am
the way you portrayed the story. you said they call them nothing more than a cruel reminder that frats are fashions of bad behavior. they said if the conversations didn't last past april. then it would be nothing more than a cruel that's what the op-ed said. you candice agree with that, but don't disagree on my watch. >> she is telling me -- she is already saying the frat guys are guilty for being frat guys. >> we want to bring more awareness to cases of sexual assault where it isn't true and there are so many types of sexual assault. >> they are accused of sexual
12:35 am
assault and nothing is ever done against the person who accuses someone falsely of sexual assault. >> people's lives have been ruined by the frat boys raping them and not facing consequences. it is statistically there. it is totally there and i agree with andy that the way the story is skewed, why are we pulling attention to these awful women who are calling out people. >> i am trying to do my part. >> you are trying to do your part. this will solve the future of college debt. why send your kids for a scholarship? >> if your son is going to be a frat bro, what are they
12:36 am
going to do? they are guilty before they go to school. >> i did not say that. i am also saying -- i am saying a frat house raising awareness about sexual assault is like burger king raising awareness about cholesterol. >> why is it bad? >> it is not bad. she is saying we want more action. >> before we go to break last week they said trump would likely get it from the intelligence briefing. trump doesn't have mop on twitter so we have trump tweets. i don't want to get into it, but it is part of a plot to kill kurt cobain. we asked you to come up with some of your own. >> if i want to know about alien technology it is my job

the number of soldiers on active duty is at its lowest since 1940. they say the army has 400 thousand on duty. they are cutting that number down by another 5,000 by the end of september. that's a look at news at this hour. now back to "red eye." >> welcome back. i am here with ago deer -- with actor ernie hudson. he will be in the coming "ghostbusterss 3". let's look at that. >> what are we doing here? >> what do you mean? you are thirsty and i am going to get you a back up drunk. >> i mean this, us, what are we doing? >> we are having a business dinner. >> wow. i thought it was a date.
