2:00 pm
>> no protesters here. >> john roberts there in redding, california. don't miss the cost of freedom live tomorrow morning, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. hemo, i'm kimberly guilfoyle, along with juan williams, eric bolling, melissa francis and greg gutfeld. it's 5:00 in new york city and this is "the five." an angry mob of anti-trump protesters square off in an ugly and chaotic scene outside his rally in san jose yesterday. >> [ bleep ] [ bleep ] [ bleep ] [ bleep ] [ bleep ]. >> out of control protesters burning an american flag. and battering trump supporters, throwing punches and eggs,
2:01 pm
leaving them bloody. in the wake of the violence, an editor at vox praised the demonstrators with this tweet, advice, if trump comes to your town, start a riot. moments ago trump slammed the unruly protesters for attacking his supporters. >> they walk out and they go get accosted by a bunch of thugs burning the american flag. burning the american flag. and you know what they are? they're thugs. >> all right. that was obviously an upsetting scene. a scene that's been replayed over and over again. violence and a woman surrounded, being pummeled with eggs. it was very upsetting, you think someone would jump in to try to help this woman, melissa. >> absolutely. someone goes out there with the intent to squander protein like that showing up with eggs, ready to pummel someone with them. in albuquerque, when they came with bottles of urine, trashing property, breaking windows. what has this country come to?
2:02 pm
i can't believe we're doing this at the same time trump gets blamed for a lot of this. by virtue of you coming to town, you're sort of drawing out these crowds, that's not fair. >> so eric the narrative is, this is the presidency of donald trump. what america will look like. because these people came out to protest and they're flying the mexican flag, burning the american flag. just complete chaos. >> do these fools think they're hurting donald trump by doing this? they're, waving the mexican flag, cold-cocking people. another hit by a bag of rocks. poster, this is america, you're allowed to be for people and against people but you're not allowed to violently be for and against people. it's more like anarchists. i'm pretty sure these aren't hillary supporters or bernie supporters. this feels like a third party coming in here. the wild liberal left that says let's stop trump at any cost. and pull these shenanigans.
2:03 pm
the mayor of san jose where all this took place, was outraged, not at the rioters, not at the protesters, outraged at donald trump for being the cause of the riots and protesters. and that's asanini, that mayor is a democrat. >> he might be out of a job depending on how people react to his nonsense. greg? >> i was at the gym as i usually am, at the gym this morning. i'm watching the headlines. every single headline is protesters assault trump supporters. this is the problem, where it begins is they're called protesters, they're actually not protesters at all. they are violent thugs and they shouldn't be allowed to be protected by the moniker of protest protester. if that's a protest, then arson is a campfire. they're there with one idea only, to violently hurt people. if you took this behavior out of this context, and you put it in a shopping center or a movie theater. people would react in horror to see this kind of thing
2:04 pm
happening. when you put it in this false narrative of a protest, it's suddenly acceptable. it's not going to go well for these aggressors. because sooner or later these peaceful people, they're going to respond. and they're going to come prepared to respond. and these, these young out of shape aggressors are not going to know what's going to hit them. it's called self-defense, it's not going to be pretty. >> or punch. >> there's another way they can respond, these peaceful anti-protesters -- no vote for trump because they hate that so much. >> they're already going to vote for trump. i think it helps trump with people who are trump supporters. because they see now that they feel victimized by this kind of behavior. i think american rights, american democracy, american politics is victimized when you have people behaving in a violent manner. but what i really disagree with, all of you about, is the idea that trump bears no responsibility. this is a guy who it seems to me
2:05 pm
has antagonized mexican-americans. we're talking about here, in san jose, we're talking about burlingame, a month ago when he had to jump the fence off the highway. we're talking about albuquerque in new mexico. i think this is the guy who says, mexico is sending its worst people and they're rapists and they're criminals and we need to build a wall and we need to keep out the muslims. nobody is advocating violence, nobody is wait, nobody -- wait, you're wrong on that. not at all. you no he what he does? >> how can you say he's advocating violence? he's saying keep the bad people out. >> no. what bad people? now wait a second, let me just say people who feel that they are being defamed by donald trump, called rapists and criminals are going to have a reaction, eric and remember he's the only candidate who has advocated violence. he's the only one who has, when a guy got sucker-punched, i'll pay the man's legal fee force
2:06 pm
sucker-punching. he said maybe these protesters should be roughed up. he said in the good old days, these protesters would be taken out of here in a stretcher. >> when a woman goes out at night without a bra on, does she deserve it if she's attacked. this woman got egged because she was wearing a trump shirt. she was wearing a trump shirt. there was an nbc sports reporter who said she might have egged it on. >> that's ridiculous. >> but it's the same logic, juan. language is different than deed. language and dress is different than deed. >> absolutely. taunting is also different than deed. so some people said she was taunting them. i don't care. the violence is wrong and podesta, john podesta, the chairman of hillary's campaign said no place in american politics. so nowhere but trump is it okay. >> all of these acts of violence that are occurring -- >> i said trump says things that antagonize and demean and defame
2:07 pm
americans. >> what is the suggestion. juan you're saying as the justification for their lawless conduct. >> no, i'm not. i'm making -- >> you said trump is the one who says this, look what happens in the aftermath of language. you're not accepting any personal responsibility on behalf of the people that are doing these actions that aren't all mexican-americans irritated by comments they heard had in the press. look in the crowd, look to see who's there. there's a variety of people there, they're burning the american flags, they're beating up this woman. she doesn't have safe passage to get out and it's donald trump's fault? >> you're legitimizing behavior by the protesters. what greg said, they are not people out legitimately protesting that they think their rights are being disenfranchised. this is an organized group going out to start trouble. >> trump said he thought a long time ago in chicago that these were -- >> so many communities where
2:08 pm
it's people out to start trump. >> okay. remember trump said in chicago -- >> vote democrat. i don't think they're going to vote at all. >> trump said back in chicago, he thought they were bernie sanders sporn supporters. i don't think they're bernie sanders supporters. i think they're mexican american who is feel they are being defamed by donald trump. >> a lot of people don't like the politics of other people, they don't go out and sucker-punch people. >> that's wrong. >> even more unusual, they did this in the presence of cops. imagine what they would do if there weren't any cops there. that wouldn't just have been egged. what would have happened to that woman surrounded by a group of young men? what would happen? let your mind think about that if there were no cops. >> the problem, juan, with what you're saying is -- the causal connection that the language begets the violence and therefore is justified and that i totally guess disagree with.
2:09 pm
they're like two separate discussions, how does that justify what you see? these are people using this as an excuse to commit lawless acts of violence, and commit assaultive attacks on women and they punch the other guy and his head is bleeding. it's ridiculous. >> let me make my point. allow me to respond. i think when you have someone who makes provocative, angry, violent statements and demeans other people, when the other people then have some violence occur and some of these people, all these candidates have some people who are violent, i don't who is violent and who is not. if these people -- right, you have some of these people and then you have trump saying these things about oh yeah, i'll defend people who act violently in my behalf, gee, why wouldn't someone think donald trump may be bears some responsibility. >> he walked it back after he said that he said no more violence at our -- >> he said -- >> look at what's happened.
2:10 pm
it went from blaming trump for his supporters being violent to the completely opposite going on now. trump supporters are the peaceful people walking around. and they're getting cold-cocked. >> i don't like the violence by anybody, but you know that trump has said, doesn't he wish he had the old days where some of these protesters could be carried out our i'll pay the legal billes if you hit one of these protesters. >> you know he walked that back. >> i think when you think about what happened, it was horrible, eggs, tomatoes, bottles. >> it's wrong. >> one particular woman surrounded by the men with the mexican flag? it is so outrageous to me. i can't even tell you. they should be arrested and put in jail. that is criminal conduct, there's no excuse for it. >> because it didn't seem like there were any consequences, think about cleveland, that's only about a month away. there's going to be a lot of people there. there will be a lot of people we
2:11 pm
know there, juan, and they're going to be vulnerable. they're going to be targets. if you don't condemn this now, if you don't stop this now, it's only going to get worse. i think it's going to get worse because you're going to see peaceful people defend themselves and i have a feeling a lot of supporters know how to defend themselves. >> i don't know what you're suggesting. i think we should condemn sanders people when they get involved with violence. >> he's not condoning violence. >> in this discussion there's a reluctance to say guess what there's a provocateur right in the middle of it every time. >> provocation speech, we're all about being creating debate, dialogue, getting information out. when you're being provocative. but -- >> provocateur i'm saying -- how often do we sit here and argue? >> every day. >> not me and you, but i'm say
2:12 pm
something what we see here if you're telling me that my parents are criminals and rapists, maybe i would have some harsh feelings. >> i don't think you would get violent. >> not me, i agree with you. >> i'm against violence, but i'm really pro self-defense. >> i'll do it for you. >> squirm around a little bit. directly ahead, donald trump fires back to hillary clinton after she attacked his credibility and foreign policy platform. is this a preview of the fireworks we can expect in the general election? and later -- it's facebook friday, go to facebook.com/thefivefnc and post a question for us, we just might answer it, live, back in a moment. innovative sonicare technology with up to 27% more brush movements versus oral b. get healthier gums in 2 weeks guaranteed. innovation and you. philips sonicare. save when you buy the most loved rechargeable toothbrush brand in america.

2:16 pm
hillary clinton railed against donald trump during her so-called foreign policy speech yesterday. here's a piece. >> donald trump's ideas aren't just different, they are dangerously incoherent. making donald trump our commander-in-chief would be an historic mistake. >> and then that went on and on. well hillary, be careful when you poke a bear, because he tends to fight back. here's trump a fewer hours later fighting back at clinton.
2:17 pm
>> i watched hillary today, it was pathetic. it was supposed to be a foreign policy speech, it was political. had nothing to do with foreign policy. anything obama wants, she's going forward with you know why? she doesn't want to go to jail. hillary clinton has to go to jail, okay? she has to go to jail. she's guilty as hell. crooked hillary said donald trump, his finger on the button. she's the one that stupidly raised her hand to go into iraq and destabilized the middle east. lying, crooked hillary. >> she's a liar. >> wow. kg this lying, lyin', crooked hillary. he took it. from cruz and now -- >> wouldn't you? pushing back. it was not a foreign policy speech. it was a let's bash trump speech. the problem is you must not have anything to talk about for yourself. you spent 45 minutes talking about the other guy.
2:18 pm
one it shows she's very concerned about him. she's trying to amp up supporters, because she's in a crisis in california, which she should have been winning handily. she's still struggling to deliver a knockout punch to a socialist. so things aren't going so great for her. she sees record numbers turn out for donald trump. because a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and she's battling a enthusiasm gap. >> bernie sanders is in a a deadlock with hillary clinton in california. even if he wins california, she loses, she'll still get the nomination, but is this the time she should have pivoted to donald trump that soon? or should she have waited until she got the nomination? >> no i think it was a good move it suggests to voters in california, hillary clinton is the best candidate to go you up against donald trump. she delivered a terrific speech. and she suggested to democratic voters the same thing that
2:19 pm
governor of california jerry brown did. we like bernie sanders, but we're concerned about donald trump. >> what about the fight back? was it effective? was donald trump effective? >> you know he did the normal thing he always does, i don't think that was any different than anything he did before. but on her speech, wanting to be a great speech on foreign policy, her entire foreign policy that he's a psycho. she was secretary of state, she should have been able to outline exact things she wanted to do. instead it goes back to the same thing, what would you say is her number one achievement as secretary of state? what's the thing she should be proudest of in foreign policy? >> i could list a bunch of things, but i don't get it. donald trump says we did we go to libya or why did we get involved in iraq? he backed both of these things. >> libya is supposed to be her strongest point. all she did was create a vacuum. yesterday in her speech she said we can't create vacuums, that's
2:20 pm
what she did in libya. >> can she take a victory lap for a foreign policy win over donald trump when she's got benghazi, she's got syria? >> no. this is why this battle, which has been so unusual. trump's record is having no track record in an arena where a track record matters. foreign policy, you're supposed to have experience. hillary clinton is so bad, people prefer people with no experience over someone who has had experience for years. it's a grim spectacle, when you have a candidate who is careless about security, versus a candidate who admires dictators. the unknown unknown of trump is more appealing than the known failure that is hillary. >> top former intelligence official who served in the obama administration is taking issue with hillary clinton's speech. saying she's in no position to criticize anyone. >> she talked about people who
2:21 pm
are dangerous. i mean a secretary of state who lies to the american public. a secretary of state who uses an unsecure email server, you look at some of the actions she was directly involved in, the rise of the islamic state. the failure of libya, the failure of the russian reset. the iranian nuclear deal which she was directly involved in. yemen, there's so many things that she touched that are utter failures. >> bring it this way, greg. he's an expert. >> melissa? >> yes. i mean he listed it right there instead those should be her accomplishments, she spent all the time as secretary of state. she should be able to stand up there in a foreign policy speech and say here with the five things that i did that were fantastic. she's trying to deflect from her own terrible record by saying look, no matter how bad i am he's a psycho. you better be careful, bad is
2:22 pm
better than psycho. >> experience yes, competency not so much. >> maybe we should tell bin laden? she's incompetent. she didn't support that. she didn't support going after and killing bin laden? no she didn't do that. how about those two awards the republicans got, she wasn't involved in getting us extricated from these terrible messes. >> getting us out of iraq is a good thing? getting out of iraq. getting us out of iraq. now we're having a conversation. a minute ago you guys couldn't think of anything she had done. i'll keep going. >> hillary voted for iraq. >> you want -- you want go ahead, kg. >> ridiculous. she voted for iraq so let me tell you something. put a big o of arab spring and her neck, because she built that. >> arab spring was a good thing. >> look what happened in the
2:23 pm
aftermath. >> the arab spring was a good thing. >> the obama administration did not support the iranians during the green revolution, they let it go. that was a mistake. >> juan, she doesn't have one foreign policy accomplishment or anything that has benefitted us as it relates to national security. >> you missed bin laden. you didn't hear that. hillary clinton is responsible for killing bin laden. >> she was secretary of state, she went after gadhafi. >> groundwork for killing bin laden. >> there we go. >> and too bad her husband missed the opportunity to take him out when he could have as well. how about that? >> sour grapes. >> under his presidency. today's jobs report tells a vastly different story. we'll break down the economic spin, when we return. feel secure in your dentures...
2:24 pm
feel free to be yourself all day. just switch from denture paste to sea-bond denture adhesive seals. holds stronger than the leading paste all day... without the ooze. feel secure. be yourself. with stronger, clean sea-bond. for crash survival, subaru has developed ours most revolutionary feature yet. a car that can see trouble and stop itself to avoid it. when the insurance institute for highway safety tested front crash prevention nobody beat subaru models with eyesight. not toyota. not ford or any other brand. subaru eyesight. an extra set of eyes, every time you drive.

2:28 pm
two days ago, president obama touted the economy during a speech in indiana. >> by almost every economic measure, america is better off than when i came here at the beginning of my presidency. that's the truth. over the past six years our businesses have created more than 14 million new jobs. that's the longest stretch of consecutive private-sector job growth in our history. we've seen the first sustained manufacturing growth since the 1990s. we cut unemployment in half. >> but new numbers out today for the month of may say the economy created the fewest number of jobs in more than five years. just 38,000 jobs were added last month. economists anticipated more than four times that number. we have a business expert with us today, melissa. >> economists don't know anything. we all know that. i mean they anticipated so many more.
2:29 pm
this was, it was a terrible report. there's no way to put lipstick on this pig. you look at it, only 25,000 jobs were created in the private sector. i feel like juan is going to mention that the unemployment number dropped. wait wait, the unemployment number dropped because half a million people dropped out of the workforce and gave up and stopped looking for jobs. >> you think maybe they're getting older? and we have a lot of people retiring? >> i'm so glad you brought thaup, i looked at the cbo data on that that accounts for 1.5%. >> okay. >> that's how many of the labor force's participation rate, 1.5% of that is because people -- >> what accounts for the longest recovery? it's the rapture? you know melissa, suggested the financial expert on the panel, gregory looked like i had pulled his pants down so go right ahead, gregory. >> we're talking about bolling. >> bolling was offended? >> i watch this show every saturday called cashin' in?
2:30 pm
>> he had a business panel show called follow the money? and wall street. >> i defer. >> robots. >> robots what? >> robots, none of this matters. the biggest change is going to be happening in about ten years, we're arguing over this stuff? this is nothing. and by the way colleges are churning out majors that have no practical application in the future. if you are majoring in gender studies right now and not robotics, you might as well major in how to create horse-drawn carriages, because that's about all it's worth these days. we're not preparing young people for this historical change. when automation is going to eliminate a lot of jobs. >> you mean it doesn't matter? you think we're in a bad position? >> things are changing. >> did you see the story about walmart flying drones over the warehouse, the drones go out and do in one day what it takes humans a month? >> there's going to be a robotic
2:31 pm
five. >> eric? >> it's already here. you were right, you were right. he's not an financial expert. i should have gone to you. >> you don't remember this, but maybe about a month ago, i said here's a liberal talking point that you can really use. this number of labor participation rate, 94 million people have left, are not in the labor force right now. a lot of it is because of automation, robotics, taking over, instead of putting your order into a human being, now you're putting it into a robot. that's some of it. but president obama saying that things are so great right now. yeah, they're great for wall street, he's right about that. but they're not great for the income inequality that the left wants to say that they're all b. it's widened under president obama. the rich are getting richer. the poor are getting poorer, relatively speaking. that's the fatal flaw in obama-nomics. >> i want to give kimberly a
2:32 pm
chance to be a financial expert. to knock one out of the park. here's my response from a liberal point of view. we've had the longest recovery. doesn't that deserve some credit? >> this is a huge problem. even though the hillary supporters are on television saying this is not good. she's tied directly to president obama. obama's economy, that dog don't hunt. here's the issue now, you have someone like donald trump. who is somebody who has proved himself. in the economy. as a job creator, had has been very successful. you couple that with the exit polls that show that the economy is the number one issue. >> number one. >> for people coming out to vote. and they're dissatisfied. people are very unhappy with the direction of the country. the direction of their pocketbooks and wallets. when you see that, you have to say who has the ability to create jobs and get us out of this economic slump. if you ask hillary, she said i'm going to bring bill back. she's saying she's not qualified, doesn't have the ideas to do it she's got got to
2:33 pm
rely on bill clinton. you've got the guy on the other side saying listen, i know how to create jobs. >> you're exactly right. number one issue, the economy and trump has the advantage on that issue. >> juan, juan. question. you were talking about this being the longest recovery. shouldn't recoveries, best kind of recovery be short? >> do you think a recovery is -- a recovery beats the alternative? >> not when it's the worst recovery in history. >> the longest, how does the longest get the worst? >> the st. louis fed, you should follow them on twitter, it's like porn for nerds. all kinds of data. they will tell you -- it is the worst recovery on record. that's the st. louis fed. in terms of gdp growth. the worst ever. >> eric is doing well in this recovery. ahead is the key to raising good, responsible kids as simple as giving them chores? that's what one mom is saying.
2:34 pm

burning, pins-and-needles of beforediabetic nerve pain, these feet played shortstop in high school, learned the horn from my dad and played gigs from new york to miami. but i couldn't bear my diabetic nerve pain any longer. so i talked to my doctor and he prescribed lyrica. nerve damage from diabetes causes diabetic nerve pain. lyrica is fda approved to treat this pain, from moderate to even severe diabetic nerve pain. lyrica may cause serious allergic reactions or suicidal thoughts or actions. tell your doctor right away if you have these, new or worsening depression, or unusual changes in mood or behavior. or swelling, trouble breathing, rash, hives, blisters, muscle pain with fever, tired feeling or blurry vision. common side effects are dizziness, sleepiness, weight gain and swelling of hands, legs, and feet. don't drink alcohol while taking lyrica. don't drive or use machinery until you know how lyrica affects you. those who have had a drug or alcohol problem may be more likely to misuse lyrica. now i have less diabetic nerve pain. and these feet would like to keep the beat going. ask your doctor about lyrica.
2:38 pm
as parents we sometimes wonder what we could do to make sure our children become productive and well-adjusted members of society. it turns out keat may be one of the things kids complain about the most -- doing chores. but their gripes may not be such a bad thing. in an essay titled "good parents give chores" a wisconsin mother points out a child whininess is a kind of validation that we're on the right track. i guess if i think of it that way i get quite a bit of reinforcement for what i'm doing as a mom. eric bolling, you have a fantastic son heading off for college, you're an incredibly hard-working individual, very disciplined, do you give your son chores? >> no. he works, he works he goes to school during the week and works
2:39 pm
weekends. think the most important piece of advice i can give is make sure there's a study time. the way schools are going now, they're not required to study after school. it's becoming easier. carve out a pattern where they know at the end of the day, they come home, whether it's 45 minutes, an hour, whatever your thing is so there's a set develop the pattern. think it will last forever. he's done extremely well, he was self-motivated with that. >> it's interesting you would say that, parents are making the choices between a science fair project coming up and they're like you have to work on the science fair and let the chores go to the wayside. felt like the chores were who important. eric disagrees with that. >> i never required him to do that i think i should have. i emphasized the other thing. >> i think this is a discussion for middle class parents because i know i see some so often poor kids or you know working-class kids, they want the money. so they'll get the part-time
2:40 pm
job. but then they're not doing the homework or the extracurricular stuff. they're bringing money into the house, i want them to achieve academically. it's not that i'm excusing them from having responsibilities, chores in the house, melissa. i don't think that you want them to somehow think that you know the job is more important than the investment in their long-term future. >> i think the point is they're supposed to be pulling their weight around the house that things don't get magically done. in addition to doing school and going to work, we all have to pull together in the house to get it done. kimber kimberly, did you do a lot of chores growing up? >> yeah. always, i didn't have to be told oregon paid. honestly, i liked doing dishes, i liked taking out the garbage. >> i can imagine you doing that. >> groceries. >> if i don't do it -- cooking with fox and friends, mommy makes oatmeal in her heels wirk.
2:41 pm
it's important to have a routine. ronan comes home, he knows he's got to do his homework. he plays a little, he has dinner, it's time for shower. he is responsible for himself. he sets his alarm. 6:30 a.m. to get up. and another reminder, one you know 7:30 and then 8:00 it's like let's go it's time to roll. >> greg you're a model citizen. your parents must have done something right along the way. did they drive you to do chores? >> yes, they had very creative chores for me. there's a lot of things a kid can do that doesn't bring attention to them. for example it's easier for me to steal a bone-in ribeye as a child in the supermarket. i was able to photograph sunbathers in the park for my father. it didn't cause any, arouse any attention. coy sell them depending on the angle. >> arouse, good choice of words. >> i'm glad -- by the way.
2:42 pm
