super delegates. bernie sanders is not giving up and saying the reason for that is simple. >> secretary clinton will not have the number of pledged delegates to win the democratic nomination. she will be dependent on super delegate and they vote july 25th. >> voters are in the polls in six states and we have live coverage coast to coast. we have molly line covering the primary there and starting off with johnathon hunt where they are voting right now. >> good morning, eric. we are three hours in a 13 hour voting day here in california. and election officials tell us it is far too early to characterize the turn out in any way. i can tell you in the polling place in culver city there wases
10:03 am
brisk business in the prework rush hour. and 10:00 a.m., the numbers of people coming through the doors have tailed off a little as you expect. we haven't seen any signs that the turn out is depressed in any way by the associated press calling the primary election and calling hillary clinton the presumptive democratic nominee. we spoke to voters outside today and there was mild annoyance on the part of bernie sanders that the call was made prior to california actually voting, but for most it was a mildannoyance and no sense at all that anybody had second thoughts about turning out here today. >> i think bernie sanders is committed to it winning the nomination and i felt it was important to come out and exercise my right and cast my vote. >> only six states with more than 20 million people voting
10:04 am
today. why call things and make us feel like we don't have a vote? >> this election seemed big to me and i wanted to cast my vote. >> now conspiracy theories a baud obviously in this election year. and you can make a case on both sides. bernie sanders benefitted by the large turn out. and he could be heard if hillary clinton is the presumptive nominee, and her supporters would be likely to stay at home and it would hurt her. mrs. clinton herself was reluctant to take on the mantel of the presumptive before the voting today. we may see a different one in rally in brooklyn when she will say she has broken the glass ceiling that she put so many cracks in eight years ago.
10:05 am
she would like to put a ribbon on it. just like bernie sanders would like a strong victory in california so he justifies taking his fight on to the convention. we'll get an idea after the polls close. 11:00 p.m. eastern time and we'll bring you the results. >> it could be a very late night. our team coverage in the east coast new jersey voters are are heading to the polls. even though donald trump secured his presumed nomination. some say that trump doesn't represent the party. and she wanted them to vote for ted cruz or john kasich. >> quite a statement.
10:06 am
is it impacting? the former new jersey governor is not at all unwilling to it share her thoughts of the republican nominee. i will be voting on tuesday and will let the republican leaders know that i do not believe that donald trump represents the best of the country or good for the country i love. she urged those to send a message and cast support to cruz or kasich who remain on the ballot. new jersey's current governor chris christie voted today and pushed back against trump's critics on accusations of bigotry. >> i know donald trump and i have known him 14 years and he is not a racist. that is contrary to every experience. and we are going to end it
10:07 am
there. >> reporter: chris christie is on the ballot, no not for governor again, but the delegates that is supporting donald trump. and governor whitman among the kasich delegates. the polls close ahead of california and new jersey. and so they will have their moment in the spotlight this evening. >> a lot going on. more new fallout with the comments that donald trump made about the judge in the trump university fraud case. more republicans are speaking out against him. the presumptive nominee said the judge was biassed and issued rulings against him in the case because of his mexican heritage. and democrats are pounce ping and the republican leaders and despite the continued fire storm, mr. trump told bill
10:08 am
o'rielly that he is worried. >> i do not care if he is mexican. i will provide jobs and we have been treated unfairly. >> paul ryan called the remarks unacceptable. >> i regret those comments and disavow them. claiming that a person can't do the job because of a race is a definition of a racist comment. so david, how does this comment last and what could be the lasting damage. >> i think it will last a long time if the the democrats have going to say. republicans that are supportive and newtal of trump coming out and saying he went too far. newt gingrich was one of his staunch defenders and senator bob corker from tennessee trying
10:09 am
to warm to him and he was almost there supporting him as a potential candidate for vice-president said trump went too far. trump is on an island by himself like. this he has remarks later on after the primaries come in tonight what his tone is. he will have to address it. >> how can he walk it back. >> i don't think you you -- >> even with the telephone with the surigates. he is attack, attack. it is the mainstream media attacking me. and what will he say? >> i don't think he will back away. and it is a question of emphasis and continue to say that the call out and calling out the judge by name and repeating the attack or back away from it. it will be a signal of whether he's able to adjust. we have no indication of trump
10:10 am
adjusting. he thinks he won this and he had's come out the victor and there is not much incentive. but the call and reporting of the call and told his own aides that they were wrong to disobey their orders and ignore questions and put out a blatant question and he wants to target the reporters. >> lindsay graham said it is unamerican. and supporters say he raised the issue of politizing the judiciary and that is legitimate. >> look, the thing is, this case has nothing to do with his political aspiration. this is trump university and the controversy surrounding that. there is, you can always make a case that a judge is biassed
10:11 am
and he point ped out and said he is mexicanine though he is a resident of indiana. and born in indiana, that was the line that he went over and many people thought was too far if. >> what do you predict on the democrat and republican side. >> i think the biggest race will be in california. i think hillary clinton will win it a little bit and tough for senator sanders to move on to the convention. >> going to be a late night. and we'll be here all night for the continuing coverage including california. and martha joins megan. and guess who will be here all night. myself. heather childers and i continue 1:00 to 4:00. that is only 1:00 p.m.
