12:00 pm
message, steve moore, thank you. so, big day politically, bernie sanders on the hill. obama endorsing hillary clinton. and the twitter feud between trump and clinton starts. have a great day. i'm gretchen carlson. >> there's a lot happening. a lot of breaking news in this hour. president obama endorsing hillary clinton. donald trump meeting his money team, and a federal court has delivered an enormous ruling. the ruling? you do not have the right to carry a concealed weapon in public. what's get to it. >> first from the news deck this this afternoon, president obama saying he does not think there has ever been somebody more qualified to hold his office than hillary clinton. a full-throated endorsement no doubt of presumptive democratic nominee that the campaign released an hour ago. >> she has the courage, the compassion, and the heart to get the job done.
12:01 pm
and i say that as somebody who had to debate her more than 20 times. even after our own hard-fought campaign, in a testament to her character, she agreed to serve our country as secretary of state. and from the decision we made in the situation room to get bin laden, to our pursuit of diplomacy in capitals around the world, i've seen her judgment, her toughness. i've seen her commitment to our values up close. >> secretary clinton's republican rival, donald trump, followed up on twitter with: obama just endorsed crooked hillary. he wants four more years of obama but does anybody else? -- should say that nobody else does. then clinton retweeted along with the message, delete your account. president obama had a private meeting with bernie sanders, and this walk along, sanders has
12:02 pm
been in intense pressure to drop out and clear the way for secretary clinton. senator sanders said he would stay in the race through the last primary, which is next week in d.c. so with the campaign all but over what does senator sanders want? well, today he hinted he is trying to push his positions into the democratic party's platform, issues including economic equality and ryneing in wall reed. >> these are issues many americans have supported during my campaign. these are the issues we'll take to the democratic national convention. >> but gone was any talk of trying to challenge hillary clinton at that convention. it could be another sign he is ready to wind down his campaign. he does have a rally scheduled tonight in washington. and on the run side, the presumptive nominee, donald trump, held his first big fundraising meeting with top g.o.p. donors.
12:03 pm
the meeting was for other republicans on the house in house and senate races and now we have team fox coverage of politics 2016. carl cameron with more on trump's meeting with donors and first mike emanuel in d.c. with the president's endorse endorsement. >> reporter: president obama is anxious to play a role in this campaign and helping hillary clinton win the white house. hours after the meeting with the president's meeting with bernie sanders we learned mr. obama will hit the campaign trail next week with clinton in wisconsin. clinton responded on twitter a short time ago, honored to have you with me, potus. i'm fired up and ready to go, and signed it h. sanders was asked about the -- and didn't answer the question. >> what else did sanders say? we heartbeat the hints for the platform. >> sanders says he looks forward to meeting with hillary clinton
12:04 pm
to see how they can work together to create a government that represents all americans and not just the one percent, and senator sanders talked about working with her to defeat donald trump. >> in my view the american people will not vote for or tolerate a candidate who insults mexicans and latinos, who insults muslims, who insults african-americans and women. needless to say, i am going to do everything in my power, and i will work as hard as i can, to make sure that donald trump does not become president of the united states. >> reporter: moments ago harry reid said he is not pushing sanders to get out. he says sanders needs time. >> there's a super pac priorities u.s.a. out with a new attack ad, and it uses some familiar faces in it. >> reporter: that's right.
12:05 pm
one has prominent republicans attacking donald trump for saying things about the mexican-american judge and there's another one, part of this $35 million digital ad campaign targeting latino voters, targeting swing state voters like colorado, nevada, and florida. here's a sample. >> they're bringing crime. they're rapists. >> we need to show humanity with respect to people who are working, contributing right now. >> we're going to have a deportation force and you're going to do it humanely. >> i'm fighting to give every one of our children the chance to fulfill their dreams in our country, nation of dreamers. i am fighting to -- >> these ads are going up on facebook, pandora and instagram and will be popping up on a computer near many of you. >> this is another one out. it's a lot stronger than that.
12:06 pm
this one has nice music. the other one is not nice and did a $36 million ad buy on it. we're working to put it together. not quite ready for tv. glen hall is the unable editor for "the wall street journal." it's the money that feels like to me right now. all these things happened. of course the president is going to endorse the first lady -- second of state, nor, everything she was. but the money. they said they wanted a billion dollars. they wanted a billion dollars and got together, and my understanding of things is, they realized, at least for now -- it other could change. sheldon adelson has a lot of money but they thick they can't get near that. >> an interesting twist. democrats thought they had the fun raising problem. but this isolate star, and they sheave been getting this going before now and there's complexity when the way donald
12:07 pm
trump has funded his campaign and going through the proper channel wisdom the regulatory hurdles they have to get through. a lot anyway have to figure out. >> and there's the matter of relying on super pacs but you can change your mind and maybe that was just a suggestion. >> yeah, well -- the super pacs operate independently so that gives some cover, and we have also seen in this campaign so far that super pacs can have a lot more influence than we thought given the regulatory structures. a lot more coordination has been found, ways around governing the pacs so there's a lot of money lining up. there's four or five of. the behind trump. >> there's this matter of unity. one thing the republican had going for them, there's been a nasty fight on the democratic site. very divisive. not what democrats wanted. the bernie or bust camp is not
12:08 pm
going away. doesn't look like at the moment. but now this unity is happening, and republicans are looking for some, too, and i wonder if they're concerned about what a unified democratic side is going to do to them. >> it's interesting how the tables are turning again in these campaigns. one gets an advantage and loses it, this is a case where the republicans had a unity forming, right? and it has now started to fall apart already. the democrats didn't have it at and all now they've got it coalescing. so the advantage the trump campaign and runs has had been lost so now they starting off with an even level playing field starting out with a unifying message, and republicans have to build that back up. >> looks like the democrats have been planning for this day. when the president would give this endorse: they line up this ad, and this goings to the heart of this trump university case no matter what you think about it, doesn't even matter.

12:09 pm
the democrats are clearly counting on it. watch this ad. >> because of his -- is that not the definition of racism? >> i don't think so at all. >> i think this comments were racist. >> johnny come lately is not going to give my lessons on republican values. >> that's not a racist statement. >> i couldn't disagree more. >> a person can't do their job because of their race is like the textbook definition of a racist comment. >> democrats seem to think this is a good issue for them. >> racism. what i said four or five times during the clip. a have you ever powerful word, very negative word, and going to be a big message to overcome. >> trump has said he won't speak of that anymore. which is a strategy that many in many walks of life have used in the past and it's worked many times. doesn't always work. you wonder if you have these millions and millions of dollars and people who -- i guess some
12:10 pm
people hasn't been paying attention. how damaging can this be. >> two campaigns sticking around. the other things that trump had gone that was blown over quickly, during the primary season, and the party was ready to forgive, but this is now the general season, and the hillary clinton camp is going to keep the pressure on. these things aren't going to disappear as easily as during the primary season. >> you wonder when bernie sanders will come. >> probably after the d.c. candidate. he has to take it all the way for his supporters. he thinks he owes it to them and then after he gets out of that one he will start turning it around and finding a way -- he said even yesterday he was looking forward to working with hillary clinton to defeat donald trump. so the first steps have been taken. >> slow and steady. more ahead on the money. it's a big issue and why donald trump's campaign team is setting sights lower when it comes to
