taking in the fireworks show outside of the grand floridian resort in a large lagoon that separates the magic kingdom from some of the hotels here. his father matt went into the water after him, after the gator and tried to fight the gator who grabbed the little boy while he was wading in a foot or so of water. on the beach there are no swimming signs but there are not any gator warning signs. in the end they found lane 10 or 15 yards from where the gator grabbed him. >> we wanted to hope for the best for his family and didn't want to have to recover a partial body or body parts, so they were able to have the entire body recovered. so at this point we are continuing our efforts to make certain that the alligators that were captured, we the right one.

>> the search lasted for about 15 hours. in the end they captured and killed five gators. now it is a pretty grim task of trying to match the forensics and bite marks to make sure they have captured the gator that did indeed grab lane. the sheriff said for the first time in 45 years something like this happened. they have a very good program to try to take care of gators on the property. the ceo of walt disney called the lane family and offered his condolences and sympathies there. 6:30 in the morning is sunrise about an hour and a half from now. the sun comes up and the guests will not see any searchers out there. the beaches remain closed. we have to see when they reopen if there will be gator warning signs in addition to the no swimming signs. >> a terrible ending to this story. leland vittert, thank you.

mateen made 16 calls during his shooting spree including to a tv station and a 911 call as well. police are refusing to release those calls. his widow is believed to be cooperating with the fbi as the grand jury decides whether or not to charge her with more than 100 counts connected to the massacre. >> we will leave no stone unturned. with respect to the wife i can tell you that is only one of many interviews we have done and will continue to do in the investigation. >> we are asking for any information there may be on the mateen's final moments. joe biden will be in orlando to meet with victims. heather in>> horrifying. jackie ibanez, thank you.

first". i am abby hunts man. >> i am heather childers. it is half past the top of the hour. we begin with a news alert. a 2-year-old attacked by an alligator as his parents watch in horror is found dead. >> leland vittert joins us live in orlando with the growing outrage. this is so awful. >> good morning ladies. i don't think any one would argue with how horrific this is. you might say a parent's worst nightmare. everybody who tells the story to has almost a physical reaction when they hear what happened to lane grave. he was set to watch a fire work's show at 9:30 at night when he was wading in 1 or 2 feet of water that's when a gator grabbed on to him. his dad tried to fight off the gator his father was hurt in the process. he was unable to get him back
