questioning neveaux when he shot him. neveaux was found hiding in a nearby backyard. well, the coast guard making a grim discovery in the search for the family lost at sea. this is just a heart breaking story. crews recovering a body after a father and his three teenagers set sail from sarasota to ft. meyers. the coast guard is still trying to stay optimistic. >> we're continuing to hit it hard with everything we've got. this is a tragic event, but we're still -- we're still hopeful for the three other people that are out there. >> the coast guard also finding an emergency flare, a propane tank and the family's kayak. an immigration official blamed for hindering the arrest of the man who gave the weapons

>> reporter: steve, brian, ainsley, good morning. it was a long night on capitol hill and nearly 21 hours later, it's still going on. but it really reached its point, its tipping point last night when nearly 200 democrats flooded the floor of the house and refused to leave until house speaker paul ryan would agree to schedule a vote on several gun control measures. that didn't happen. but those 200 democrats were yelling, chanting and singing in protest all while republicans were trying to carry on with business as usual. you can tell from the video, you can barely hear paul ryan. that was not easy. >> pursuant to to the order of the house, the unfinished business is the veto message of the budget on house joint resolution 88. >> reporter: in the wake of the orlando shooting democrats are aggressively pushing the issue of gun control. and particularly with it being an election year, they see this as a winning issue for them.

paul ryan has said there will be no vote on the measures but democrats are still claiming victory with the protest and vowing to continue to push the issue. >> we will not be happy. we will not be satisfied. we will not be pleased until we do something in a major way. make a major down payment on ending gun violence in america. >> reporter: the politics surrounding these protests are hard to ignore. in fact, democrats are actually now fund-raising off of the all night takeover. paul ryan alluded to that yesterday afternoon. >> this is nothing more than a publicity stunt that's point number one. point number two is this bill was already defeated in the united states senate. this is not a way to try and bring up legislation. >> reporter: democrats say they're not taking no for an answer now and after 21 hours a

embarrassing and the very reason that trump has to get in. he'll separate the children from the adults. you know what? i think this could mobilize the right, because of people on the political right are probably going to say, you know, do we really want people like that in charge and then on the political left, it's going to mobilize them because they're going to say, look, the only way we can get anything done is if we take back the house and the senate. >> i think the country realizes guns are here. but i also think when senator john cornyn offers up something to work with and susan collins and others in the senate, they see a problem with mateen getting a gun and knowing that he was interviewed three times by the fbi and they were not alerted that he was buying this arsenal. >> i mean, the republicans are all about due process. the people deserve and the constitution guarantees due process. >> but not for omar mateen. >> brian, something happened. the fbi dropped the ball in some measure. but then again they did a thorough investigation at that point and he was not a terrorist. >> but steve, he was not on the

terror watch list but even if he was he could get a gun. >> you didn't deny an american the due process. how many people -- how many innocent people are on the terror watch list? you can get on that list by posting a joke on facebook and suddenly you're on the watch list and you can't buy a gun. >> we shouldn't have to be talking about the constitution because the fbi should have done their job. period. >> well, the fbi interviewed him three times but even in 2013, 2014, when he was on the list, he could still walk into that gun shop and get that gun and the fbi wouldn't have been notified. that's the problem. >> you used the operative phrase, interviewed him three times. enough is enough. >> they didn't arrest him, but he was on the watch list. 64,000 on the watch list over 8 -- over 400,000 on the no fly list. if you want to get something done, say hey, six months we're going to thin out this list that started in 2003 after the 9/11

attacks. then we'll find a way to stop the nix -- next terrorist like his dad who seems to have a dicey background and him and whoever he was talking to on the phone, as catherine herridge said he might have been talking to somebody else and find out way he won't get a gun. better yet, keep the watch list going, if you want to keep the investigation going, that gun store owner who has to be an upstanding american citizen, first one that rejected him, calls the fbi and the fbi says, we're going to question that guy. before we give him the gun, we're question that guy. >> they have to figure out a system where you are -- you know, you get your due process. >> right. >> because you have to protect yourself. and, you know, how long are people on watch lists? sometimes for years for no good reason. they have to speed it up. just figure it out. and that's the problem right now. that's why -- and keep in mind, the four senate bills considered earlier in the week, not a single one of them would have stopped what happened in orlando

stamp fraud charges. and in north carolina, a durham council woman called police officers and soldiers the most dangerous people with guns. she is walking it back after a firestorm of criticism. jillian johnson said i believe that state sanctioned violence is more dangerous than nonstate sanctioned violence. there you go. ainsley and brian? >> now i feel better about that story. well, there's a new report and it finds that the housing market hasn't bounced back. the reason, lower incomes are to blame and more are choosing to rentd instead of buy. >> they're waiting for ainsley to jump into the market. what do the home ownership hurdles mean for the market? bob massi is joining us with the housing forecast. are things getting better? >> parts of the country they are, brian. different price ranges they are. i understand that the prices in san francisco, new york are crazy. but if you take vegas for example, homes from $250,000 to

$500,000 are appreciating well. they're good buys. higher end homes a again if we compare that to san francisco and to new york, it's like -- you're not getting much unfortunately. but yes, in some areas, in some locations, certain price ranges things are getting better. >> more than a third of the folks out there are renting. 36%. >> yeah. yeah. the problem is, ainsley, a lot of the people renting are still recovering from their credit problems. they went through foreclosures and short sales, loan modificati modifications. lenders are getting tougher, although i have some concerns with the lending practices going on also. so part of that is, not that they don't want to own, they can't own. one of the things that concerns me that was in that article they touched on is we still have to talk about these foreclosures that haven't happened. one of the big things of concern for me is if we remember back,

brian, a couple of years ago we talked about the loan modifications and how much they go for, now, loan modifications usually was a five-year plan where the first year you paid a point and a half, 2 and a half. what's happening is they're maturing. so this year, for example, those loan mods that are five years out, now those monthly payments could double and what that could mean is that we're facing more foreclosures and short sales again. >> you also talk about too, the next generation as their incomes are done between the ages of 18 and 34 and 18% down between 335 and 44. the next generation can't get into the housing market and they're choosing to rent. >> you know, brian, we did the third season of the show in scottsdale about two months ago. it will air in the fall. we went to arizona state university and i interviewed so many of the kids on the campus

and i asked them, do you want to rent or buy, do -- one kid said i never want to have a 40-year obligation anywhere. another kid said i can't buy because i can't afford -- my student loans. so these young kids are faced with the student loans issue as we know. and the fact that some of these kids don't ever want to buy, you know, because of the 40-year obligation. i said, talk to me in ten years when you have a wife and kids, you'll want to buy. >> you have to put down 25%. some of the renters wrote in. carol said, my condo association refuses to pay for a remodel of a drywall after a flood from a 3-year-old water heater. should they have to repair that drywall? >> you have to look at the covenants and restrictions as sort of the road map. you have to look at those closely. see what in fact the association owns, what part of that wall do they own. and if they do own part of that wall, then they could be obligated to pay. you have to get somebody, a lawyer, competent lawyer to read those and look at them and tell

train for the olympics and we know that 18-year-old lauren sites was rafting here earlier this month. she died this past sunday. right now her death is being linked to an infection caused by an amoeba that thrives in warm, fresh water in the summer. so you can only get infected if the water is forced up your nose. the cdc does have some tips to protect yourself. they're saying you can wear nose plugs, keep your head above the water. still a lot of people wondering if the water is safe. currently, the health department, the charlotte mecklenberg health department and the cdc said the water is safe here but said this was an extremely unfortunate case. this is a rare infection that happened since 1962, only been about 138 people to catch this disease. however, there's no cure for it. only three people have survived it. and they're getting less than ten reported cases a year. so this is a very -- very rare
