history of the t party, let's p somebody else in there, let's put somebody in there that didn't win a state. >> you say it's not going to happen. >> it can't happen. the alternative's hillary clinton. super liberal judges. our country becomes venezuela. >> let me ask you some big picture questions. what do you think the gop will look like in five years after thehe first term of what you sa will be a trump administration? >> well, it's going to be changing. you look at the platform right now. the platform is largely a trump platform. strong on trade. you look at the wall andtr you look at the borders and you look at all things. i mean, a few people have said it's like a donald trump speech. >> but on these other issues that you have talked about that you've said there is some kind of middle ground, are you concerned about social conservatives and making sureg they are -- >> i am. >> -- in the tent. >> i am a representative of the party. we're doing something for the evangelicals which is incredible. they keep getting threatened that we're going to take away your tax-exempt status.

and we're going to do something to help the evangelicals, the christians. we're going to give them their voice back. so i think what's happening with the platform is very good.. do i agree with everything? nobody ever has. >> what is the story you're going to try to tell at the convention? >> i'm going to telldy a law an order story. i'm going to tell a ael lot of stories at the convention. >> and in the wake of the latest attack in france, one of trump's stories will be about the need toto confront terror. >> we have to knock isis out. we have an obligation to the world to knock them out.n >> finally, there was one thing i had to know. >> make america great again is the slogan that -- >> again. >> -- people identify with. i wonder whenpl in your mind wa america great? >> you know, at the turn of the century if you look at what we did with the great factories and the greatgr -- with the steel a with all of what was happening. that was an amazing time. now, every time has weaknesses. because it wasn't inclusionary.

it was, you know, lots of different things. i thought ronald reagan -- i disagreed with him on trade, very much disagreed with him on trade. but i thought he's a cheerleader in a very elegant way. i thought that was in many ways a great time. >> reagan's last term. >> i would say that ronald reagan was special. he was special. that was a time i felt we felt good about ourselves. >>or as shakespeare writes, whas past is prologue. everything we've seen up to this point no, matter how extraordinary, no matter how ed unparalleled, has simply set the stage for what's to come. but we can guess based on what we've seen so far that donald trump will continue to surprise. that may mean he'll keep on being his quite singular self. or it may mean he'll really shock us and become a more conventional candidate. where mr. trump goes next and where his party goes next are
