about whether trump really understands. he showed a strong understanding of conservative values and conservative policy, but he married that with a tradeoff with every day americans with lines like elevator used to be middle class and now it's not. and he made it representable and that's what republicans haven't done effectively in the past and he did a fantastic job last night. >> i can see donald trump jr. maybe running for office himself one day. and also the sense of family unity when it comes to the trump family. if you're the hillary clinton camp watching it play out last night, what would concern you most? >> i would agree that probably donald trump jr.'s speech. i thought he really did an extraordinary job. i thought it was one of the most effective arguments i've heard on behalf of the trump presidential campaign from anyone over the span of several months.

i really thought it was that good. and part of the reason was he spoke about donald trump his father in sort of an endearing personal way, but he also talked about some of the ways in which they were raised as children and then did make that pivot that i was not expecting. i was expecting almost exclusively a personal speech, but he did get into policy and politics and he made a conservative republican speech on behalf of his father. and i think for that reason the delegates in that room had wrapped attention which they did not have for most speeches frankly and they can alive during his speech. >> and interestingly in a way that was humble and relatable. >> he did get pretty strong talking about some of the policies. he good say they, meaning the democrats, gave us the worst immigration system in the world, imports inability, one that drives down employment, wages, for hispanics, african-americans, as well. and so cathy, i also want to

talk about chris christie and speaking of going on the attack. boy, did he. >> he sure did. he was the enforcer of the night for sure. and this is actually not atypical of a vice presidential speech in some respects. chris christie has been kind of the loyal enforcer to donald trump throughout this campaign. last night was no different. and what he did was clever. hillary clinton in defeating her has been a unifier for the republican party and he capitalized on that just like any great prosecutor would, point by point, dismantling ever argument she's tried to make and the crowd ate it up. >> well, someone wanting the job of attorney general. >> right. and i think there are two things that struck me about christie's speech. overall i thought it was definitely effective and got folks in the hall riled up. no question.

i'm not sure how much the lock her up champ is helpful back at home for up decided voters. and i think conflating bad foreign policy along with crimes is not particularly productive. but when it came down to the e-mail scandal, he boiled it down to the one sentence that i think crystallized it which was hillary clinton was more interested in protecting her own secrets than america's secrets and i think that is true and that is a damning indictment and he made that crystal clear and hit the nail on the head. >> we'll have to leave it there. cathy lynn taylor and guy, thanks for being with us. we'll check back with you. and we of course want to hear from everyone at home, as well. who do you think gave the best speech last night? spend us your comments on facebook, twitter. >> and things are ramping up for

donald trump can bring to the american economy is to bring certainty back. so what does that mean? that means knowing that regulations are not going to burden ceos and mom and pop shop owners. people feel like that they can't invest, they don't know what will happen to obamacare and they don't know what will happen with the regulatory atmosphere that is just so he restrictive to business. when you look at the testimony party, you look at elizabeth warren and people like her and bernie sanders, one would almost think that they want to make it illegal to make a profit. and i think that is the main difference and contrast that we hear in the republican party are promoting business and promoting an economic environment that is conducive for people to live and thrive and work. >> and for the specific goals of his tax plan. i know people at home and we as well were able to look at his web side and specifically there were four different elements. tax relief for middle class

americans, simplify the tax code and grow the u.s. economy and don't add to the debt and defic deficit. >> a lot of people still want to hear specifically from fr donald trump on his tax plan. how much of that will he get into his speech on thursday night do you expect? >> well, i guess we'll see, but i think that you have hit the nail on the head and i hope that he does address his tax plan thursday night because there have been a lot of economists who have praised it. when you look of course, we've talked about it plenty of times on fox news, about how the corporate tax rate really is one of the highest in the world and affects our businesses. when everyone goes to file their taxes every april, you know how burdensome it is, that you have to have a specialized experts to be able to do something that should be relatively simple. so if you want to free up american businesses, if you want to free american workers, make a tax plan that is simple, effective and easy for the average worker to understand. you shouldn't have to have a master's agree to be able to do something as civil as pay your

people want to listen to her. the other way it was a good night for donald trump is the fact that mitch mcconnell and chris christie and others had the message to say now is the time to get behind donald trump. and if donald trump starts getting 90% of the republican vote, he will be leading in the polls before the democrats have their convention finished next friday. >> but he has to get there. the reality is, capri, he still doesn't have everyone in the republican party including the bushes, governor john kasich who is governor of ohio has not been at the convention. ted cruz is not officially endorsing donald trump yet. >> but ted cruz is speaking, is he not? >> he's speaking. but not endorsed. how much of an impact has trump's family had as people are trying to make up their minds, trying to introduce donald trump to the country in a more personal way? >> i think that his children are probably his best assets. no question about that. and i saw a statistic last night

that i believe it was in a focus group that i think 11 out of the 17 people in that focus group actually were impacted by donald jr.'s speech and they changed their mind in regards to how they feel about donald trump. tiffany trump i agree did an excellent job providing a more intimate portrait of her father. and so i think when you look to what a man is about, their children is a great and i think that one of the ways he can endear himself to the swing voters if there are any out there frankly at this point, independent votes, i think his family is going to really help. >> and millennials, as well. we actually spoke earlier this evening or last night, whatever you want to call it, to the president of the young republicans organization. and she said that when you deal with donald trump's children, that it's also enabling him to access those millennial voters,

as well, a little bit more. david. >> exactly right. donald trump has a message it that should be and is attractive to millennials. he wants to get the economy going. he wants to make sure there are jobs so as they graduate high school and graduate college there is a job for them to go to and the opportunity that maybe one day they can create something that will change the world. giving workers freedom. and not only millennials, though, we heard about it a lot from dan sullivan and shelly capato, donald trump will be a president that doesn't want to kill jobs which is exactly what hillary clinton is campaigning to do in states like west virginia and ohio. capri's home state here. and why he has a chance to win ohio. >> yeah, a state that is actually doing better in terms of the economy is of course a state that governor pence is
