"outnumbered" starts right now. sandra: here is fox news alert for you. tonight is the big night. we're now hours away from donald trump's acceptance speech at the republican national convention. this as the drama from last night still reverberating this is "outnumbered." i'm sandra smith. with us at the rnc, outside on this lovely afternoon, there she is, harris faulkner. radio talk show host meghan mccain is here. fnc contributor and author of, what the bleep just happened. monica crowley with us today. today's #oneluckyguy, we're so glad to have with us, the former governor of the great state of arkansas, and former presidential candidate governor mike huckabee is here and he is

we will unite the party. we will unite the country by standing together. i appreciate the enthusiasm of the new york delegation. sandra: afterwards gop leaders ripping into the texas senator, including some of his one-time supporters like former texas governor rick perry. >> this is contest. i understand contests. i'm a competitor but the at end of the day if you don't make it to the finals, then you know, pull for your team. i think you start looking like an individual who cares only about yourself. >> we can wish all we like. the point is there is election. votes matter. i completely concur with the governor. we have to root on and support our team. not just because we're supposed to. because it matters. sandra: at a breakfast this morning with the texas delegation, cruz doubling down, not only refusing to endorse trim but coy whether he will even vote for his former rival. listen to this.

[cheering] what does it say, when you stand up and say, vote your conscience, rabid supporters of our nominee begin screaming, saying what a horrible thing to say! sandra: that was this morning, governor, but last night i know we were on the edge of our seats, waiting, waiting as cruz made his way through that speech, wondering if he was finally going to make that endorsement. it never came. >> he was circling runway. we all thought he would land the plane and absolutely crashed it. it was dishonorable moment. he shouldn't have been invited
9:04 am
to stage and he was invited and took the invitation, this is the key, should keep the pledge he made in the very arena a year ago when he said he would support the nominee of the party. we all signed it. we said it on national television. he earned his moniker last night had attributed to him, "lyin' ted." there is new broadway play, "lion king" ii, opening on broadway. dishonored himself and convention. i am absolutely disgusted. sandra: donald trump is reacting as he normally does in the format of twitter and he has been saying this. this is a couple tweets reacting to ted cruz's non-endorsement. other than a small group of people who suffered and massive embarrassing losses, the party is very united. great love in the a rena. wow, ted cruz got booed off the stage. didn't honor the pledge. i saw his speech two hours early but let him speak anyway. no big deal. monica.
9:05 am
>> so last night ted cruz did the impossible. turned donald trump the victim. graciousness costs nothing. in world of politics can give you enormous rewards. you start gathering chris, if like ted cruz you want to run again particularly for president. what ted cruz did last night, i was astonished. i'm extremely disappointed with him. i agree with the governor it was dishonorable. the trump campaign got ahold of the speech two hours before and let him go on anyway. if they didn't, that would be story, they were trying to censor him. they gave him enough rope to hang himself and he followed through on that. this morning he is trying to spin it in certain ways, trying to do damage control. this has hurt him profoundly. this is done lasting damage. i think he was trying to position himself as ronald reagan in 1976, but reagan was asked to speak literally in the convention hall when you had an incumbent
9:06 am
president, gerald ford. reagan did not endorse gerry ford but made it clear the republican party was unhappy family and ted cruz didn't do that last night. sandra: trump said, i saw the speech. the campaign looked at it, meghan. what do you make of the move to put him up there anyway? >> my understanding was they knew he wasn't going to endorse before they saw the speech. you worked for the campaign, is that true? >> i don't work for campaign. meghan: i'm sorry. >> i'm not an employee. meghan: you endorsed him. >> i endorsed him because i said i would. i kept my way. none of us like getting beat but all of us have obligation to the party. all of us understand how bad hillary would be for the country. meghan: do you know if it true that he would not endorse? >> i don't know that. meghan: my understanding. >> trump campaign mistake if
9:07 am
they knew that and let him. i was speaking at conventions since '92. no one ever got near the stage if they weren't supporting nominee. harris: we got embargoed remarks. we were watching on the edge of our seat to see if he goes there. we see embargoed speeches. i give the campaign the benefit of the doubt, a man who said he would speak for ten minutes, isn't going to speak for 23. wait for the candidate to come up on stage and start playing wrap music for you and me. sandra: harris we assumed he was going to endorse. he promised he would. on a roll, it at this fox news debate they all would support the nominee, they took the pledge. watch. >> senator cruz, yes or no, you will support donald trump if he is the nominee? >> yes. because i gave my word that i would. and what i have endeavored to do every day in the senate is do what i said i would do.
9:08 am
harris: there you have it. >> one of the things i think we got to remember he said because of his hurt feelings. things were sad about his family. look, this is big boy game. you get into the process you will get hurt. you will see your own blood. i tell people all the time if you can't stand the sight of your own blood don't run for anything. meghan, if anybody i know would have a reason to be unhappy and not endorse it would have been your father back in 2000 when the bush campaign said terrible things put out about your family. that was horrible and unconscionable. you know what your dad did? he stood up as a statesman and supported party, support the ticket. that is how it is done. he taught us how it is done. not the way ted cruz played it last night. sandra: go ahead. meghan: i will say, election is incredibly personal and dirty. i don't know what woo have happened donald trump said about your wife or daughter or your father. ted cruz is setting himself up for 2020.
9:09 am
i think it is evident by his speech last night. i think he is doubling down on being the resistant conservative candidate. 60% of the republicans right now say they would like another candidate. just reflection of what is going on out in the world as well. i responded to to it. but i understand trump supporters and people outside the convention. i mean you could hear it audibly you there the television set. harris: i want to ask you about your response. i follow you on twitter. last night you said mic drop. meghan: awkward for me. harris: i just want to ask you -- meghan: feel like i represent a demographic not represented all the time. harris: tell me about the demographic. meghan: 31-year-old millenial woman, my father aside, just analyst i haven't liked tone of donald trump's campaign. you're a man of faith. that is probably thing america knows most about you. are you confident he would elect pro-life people on supreme court given he has a record of being pro-choice so long? that is questions still remain for people like me?
9:10 am
>> i think i'm very confident he would and i'm confident hillary would not. that is my choice. i have trump and hillary. that is an easy one. mic drop, i think he dropped his pants. meghan: i assume you become close with him, have a relationship with him. how hard would have been for donald trump to apologize. things happen during the campaigns. primaries are rough. i made a mistake. shouldn't have said that about heidi cruz or said that about your dad. sandra: maybe he will. he has a big moment. meghan: can i expect for him to apologize? harris: i don't know what he will do but tell you ted cruz didn't keep his bored. meghan: it would go a long way. donald trump is nominee and it would go a long way if he did. harris: all eyes on donald trump tonight. as he heard he will accept the republican nomination for president. the speech likely most important he ever made. michael godwin or good win of the "new york post" is explaining, more than a majority of voters simply can't imagine trump as president.
