schultz announcing her resignation amid leaked dnc e-mails plotting against bernie sanders. and of course, no shortage of drama and we have fox news team coverage on every angle of this story. >> the trump campaign slamming a quote, rigged system, but we begin with doug life for us in philly. >> reporter: good morning. these nominating conventions really serve two fundamental purposes. it is for both parties, pure propaganda, but that skeek ki clean image has been sullied by this e-mail scandal. the last thing they wanted to see was the course of boos, but democrats have succeeded thus far in keeping their candidate's name out of this e-mail muck.

>> i don't know anything about -- about these e-mails. i haven't followed it. but i'm very proud of the campaign that i ran. i can't speak to what people who were not working for me, who were saying whatever they were saying, i can't speak to that. i can only speak to my campaign.
2:02 am
>> it was a larger gathering than anything we saw in cleveland. peaceful from what we've seen. keep in mind that this is even before the convention got underway. also keep in mind the conditions. it was oppressively hot and humid yesterday, yet they still managed to come out in droves. those protests by the way, were far away from the convention center site where we now stand. they will be migrating up this way to fdr park which is just about a block away for further protests. as many as 30,000 people are forecast to attend one of those rallies. another potential problem for them is the weather. i don't know if you can hear it but there is a tremendous rainfall coming down here right now and a big red blob on the radar screen heading this way. could put another dark cloud over the democratic convention. >> you can hear that rain. >> all right. thank you.

needs to be changed. bernie sanders is suffering that plague. we think there are supporters of bernie sanders who are voting for sanders because they were against wall street influence and politics and hillary clinton is the wall street candidate. they were against the rigged political system. they should look at us now. >> reince priebus says they are starting off an uphill climb in losing their party chairwoman. >> you don't say stupid things on e-mail either and send it around among staffers. you use your head a little bit. they were not just tipping the scales but they were dumb enough to do things like that which is not smart. >> the clinton campaign claims russia hacked into the dnc e-mails to embarrass clinton and help donald trump. the truvenl trump campaign vigorously denies the claim.
2:05 am
>> the convention has not started due debbie wasserman schultz causing chaos in the streets of philadelphia. >> managing editor of the washington free beacon, aaron mclean. thank you for joining us this morning. >> let's begin with the statements from clinton. this is what she had to say about joining her campaign. i am grateful to debbie for getting the democratic party this year's convention. i am glad she served as honorary chair from the 50 state program to elect democrats in every part of the country. szoka reason, she may be sett g stepping down but she has another job with clinton.
2:06 am
>> this part i didn't know. it is not kay lotic but it is a distraction on the eve of the convention here. but look, democrats one thing they are good at is unifying their base which they are going to do. bernie sanders is speaking tonight. he already endorsed hillary clinton. she is going to lean in like she did and going to unify his voters, his delegates. it will be a stark difference than what we saw last week with ted cruz saying voters need to vote in their conscience. >> the reality though is this is all anybody is talking about, the official day of the dnc kicking off. hillary clinton wanted it to be about her about her message, her campaign. >> it is terrible timing for the dnc. it wouldn't be possibly worse.
2:07 am
using schultz the sacrificial lamb to nullifying sanders and aftermath of e-mail leaks will probably work as far as bernie himself is concerned. i think we expect he will not withdrawal his endorsement of clinton but that requires all of the supporters the left wing of the party to fall in line. i think that is perfectly acceptable for us to expect more blow back this week in philadelphia. >> so with all of the talk of the gop disarray, what party do you think is more divided democrats or republicans? is i c i can guess what you havo say. >> earlier this past friday you had the gop nominee stating i am going to fund this putting $20 million in my own money going after my rivals one of

elizabeth warren. i think that's going to help in unifying the party. we have a progressive platform that both hillary and the bernie said came together and made that happen. i am not going to give rhetoric and say it's not a distraction. it is definitely a distraction. it is unfortunate, but we are going to unify behind hillary clinton. we are good at that. we know how to do that. we did it in 2008 when it was a lot more contentious. we will see that by the end of the week on thursday. >> thank you for being with us this morning. >> thanks, guys. it is about 10 minutes after the hour. democrats in total disarray were talking about that before the convention kicked off. rigged system against bernie sanders now the dnc chair stepping down. how is the mainstream media looking at the drama? our next guest takes a look at
