of the american-muslim father of a fallen soldier who spoke at the convention was not allowed to speak because she is muslim but she did defend retired marine general who spoke at the democratic convention. >> he lashes out and loses his cool at the slightest provocation. just yesterday he went off rethe retired general who commanded our troops in afghanistan. general allen is a distinguished marine. donald trump called him a failed general. why? because he does not believe donald trump should be commander in chief. >> on this bus tour hillary clinton is trying to appeal to republicans. in 2012 mitt romney won this county with 58% of the vote. it's 94% white.

pennsylvania hasn't voted republican since 1988, but there are concerns donald trump's message could be resonating here. pennsylvania has lost 271,000 manufacturing jobs in the past 20 years. hillary clinton says that she will charge an exit tax to any company who tries to move their business -- their business overseas and to avoid taxes. she also talk about other plans to bring manufacturing jobs back to this area. tim kaine had this to say about donald trump. >> once i was on the ticket donald trump had decided how he was going to make fun of me and so he -- he -- he basically decided at a press conference a couple of days ago, really hurt my feelings, by saying what a lousy governor of new jersey i had been. i was feeling bad about it but i thought wait a minute i was never governor of new jersey, i was governor of virginia so then

i started to feel better. >> so we are now on the move as you can see. we are leaving this area of johnstown. when we arrived here there were dozens of pro-trump protesters were who shouting at her bus when she arrived. the republican party of pennsylvania put out a statement once she started speaking here saying that 81,000 democrats have registered as republicans since the beginning of the year. one other point of clarification eric, you mentioned the hack on the dnc as well as her campaign. the campaign has told us that none of her personal e-mails, none of the campaigns personal e-mails were hacked. it was a sever separate from that sever where they have their communications about the campaign and campaign strategy. >> all right. we're ahead of you. you're on the way as you can see as you go by the countryside of pennsylvania.

hillary clinton and the democratic party of rigging the debate schedule, that despite the schedule being set last september by a non-partisan panel. brian is live outside trump tower in new york city with more on this story. hi, brian. >> reporter: hi. we are 100 days until election days but trump is looking at those three big presidential debates which are expected to break ratings records. the first debate is set for september 26th here in new york and trump this morning tweeting that he believes that the democratic party has already rigged those debates saying as usual hillary and the demes are trying to rig the debate so two are up against major nfl games same as last time with bernie. unacceptable. trump is appealing to bernie sanders supporters, remember back in the primaries bernie sanders' camp accused the

democratic national convention of setting p debates on obscure dates so voters couldn't listen to sanders' message helping hillary clinton. secondedly he's establishing himself against an anti-establishment guy against a system that he says is rigged against him. the problem with what he tweeted is these debates are not set up by the democratic party, they're set up by a non-partisan commission that sets debates. they make sure that debates are done and two that they're done fairly and on saturday the commission reportedly responded saying they did not consult with any political parties or campaigns and the debates were scheduled about a year ago in september of 2015. it is true though based on trump's tweet that the first debate is actually scheduled when a big monday night game is happen thinking and the second

on fox news channel. more on that tragedy this morning in texas. folks taking a joyous early saturday morning hot air balloon ride were killed in a horrible accident. federal officials saying 16 people were on board that balloon when it caught fire and crashed in a pasture near lockhart, texas. the ntsb is working to identify the victims of that crash. we're told the balloon basket may have hit some power lines. will carr is live in los angeles with the latest. >> reporter: to put this in perspective for you before today the most tragic accident in the united states history was back in 1993 when six people were killed in colorado when their hot air balloon hit a power line. today 16 people killed in this crash. that makes it the deadliest hot

air balloon crash in the united states. we're told it happened around 7:45 this morning. when authorities arrived at the scene the basket of the balloon was on fire. this took place in a rural area but it took place next to some large power lines. investigators now trying to figure out if the balloon did indeed crash into those lines. listen to one witness as she describes what she saw and heard in the seconds after the crash. >> it sounded like a gun going off and then i looked off over there and the next thing there was a big fireball go up and it was just -- it was just praying whoever was there got away from the thing in time. >> the weather in the area at the time of the crash was relatively calm. they were having wind gusts up to about ten miles an hour but not enough to really have a big impact on a hot air balloon. you have to keep in mind that balloons like that, the direction they move in, are

really dictated by the winds. most fatal crashes with hot air balloons happens when this crash into trees or buildings or power lines. the ntsb and faa are on the scene. they are looking into the pilot. he was supposed to have a license. they'll look at the last time the balloon was inspected to try to determine the cause of the crash. >> to the families we offer our thoughts and prayers to all of them for the loss and this will be a difficult site for us to work through. >> reporter: in recent years the ntsb has expressed concerns about some of the things that go into the hot air balloon industry, especially and recently many balloons can carry up to 20 passengers. that is quite a bit more than you typically have special lie at a balloon fee arresta. the ntsb expressing concern over some regulations that go into it

before the first debate. vince, for the democrats, they say the republicans were twisted and dark but they got help, but republicans say there's was reality versus a fantasy land. two distinct different type of platforms when you contrast both conventions. >> right. i was in the room for both of these conventions and the feeling among these people is two very different visions of where america is. think about what donald trump and the republicans had to do. this is what the opposition has to do which is paint a picture that things are not great, things are not going well and things could be a lot better and that's the task that donald trump was called to. yes, there was some doom and gloom, but that was i think an assessment that donald trump and his -- all the speakers who spoke at that convention made which is that the obama administration has not led us down a great road and it could can be great. meanwhile hillary clinton likes

the status quo. she definitely wants barack obama's legacy to be a part of her electoral rational so she is going to come out and say the obama years have been fast tastic and i'm going to make them better. >> they're saying she was the change maker but tim kaine said that the trump convention is you're fired while to him the democrats is you're hired. so they're trying to exploit this and play on this do you think this will resonate like ronald reagan's optimism did in 1980. >> reporter: the competing messages are jockeying for the undecided voter that could go either way and my sense of this was kind of amazing to watch last week. we heard speakers like elizabeth warren come out on stage and say things like racial division in this country and how donald trump is perpetrating it, it's being caused by people like donald trump and racial divisions are used to actually

keep the powerful in power, but look at what we have. we have an obama administration that has been in power for two terms and race relations are at their lowest in a long time and the democratic party has relied on identity politics that is pitting races against each other. it was an ironic thing to hear from the democratic convention where they were preaching unity and donald trump is separating people. >> you've had all the protests and concerns and tensions and the shootings. two sound bites, one of donald trump and hillary clinton. it kind of sumz it up from both sides of what they say. >> nobody knows the system better than me, which is why i alone can fix it. >> americans don't say i alone

can fix it. we say we'll fix it together. >> which do you think works better, i or me or us? >> reporter: i think ultimately when you compare blindly i think people do like the idea, this is america, we did it together, and i think this is is a powerful message. the one thing i want to say about trump, trump has often -- we've heard that trump is for the silent majority, that he represents the silent majority. in fact during that convention he used perhaps the best of his campaign platform yet which is i am your voice. i thought that was perfect because it represented i think millions of silent americans who look at donald trump as somebody who does represent their views and is speaking on their behalf. right now i think donald trump supporters are looking for a vehicle for their support rather than just saying we're all in this together. they want somebody who speaks for them. >> hillary clinton is talking about fear and of course saying he was exploiting fear. let me read something to you from hillary clinton's speech about fear exactly. she said i was talking to a

woman who said that she wouldn't want to be me for anything in the world. she wouldn't want to live today and look ahead to what it is she sees because she's afraid. fear is always with us but we just don't have time for it, not now. you now what's remarkable about that, that was from 47 years ago when hillary clinton gave her graduation speech in 1969. she was talking about this issue almost 50 years ago. >> reporter: right. i think fear is a big driver, certainly in politics. this is why it's never political opportunityism to show up and to suddenly be talking about an attack that happened. politics has very real world implications to things we fear. i think that's why people have turned to donald trump and hillary clinton a lot of out of emotional attachment. i'm fearful of what's going to come or what's already happening and that's why people are going in either direction. >> people on both sides are saying i'm fearful for either

targeted the democratic party again, this time going after hillary clinton's campaign. the feds are now investigating this latest incidents, the hacking of a computer network used by the clinton campaign. they say there's no evidence the internal system was compromised. security experts think russia was to blame. >> reporter: what we're talking about a data program that's maintained by the dnc and used by the clinton campaign to conduct voter analysis. these hackers had access to things like names, addresses, e-mails but not social security numbers or credit card information or at least that's what the clinton campaign is claiming. the press secretary confirms this breach did happen and it was accessed as part of the hack

on debbie wasserman schultz. our campaign system has been reviewed by outsider security experts and they have found no evidence that the system has been compromised. the hack appears to come from russia's intelligence services. earlier this week the clinton campaign suggested russia was trying to sway the outcome of this election in trump's favor. the fbi is investigating. the director declined to point fingers though he did say this. >> i'm not going to comment on an ongoing investigation irrespective of what some anonymous officials may say who is responsible for this and when it's determined who is responsible for this there will be discussions led by the results of the investigation

foreign policy analyst. good to see you sir. let's start where governor huckabee left off saying that something must be wrong with the democratic party's ability or lack thereof to keep their records secure. is there something behind that? >> i think there's two parts to that answer. one is the security teafeatures themselves and this is an abyss mill performance but they'll fit right in the federal government because the federal government has atrocious standards. i think the second part is more important is not so much in the stealing information emplabout donors but the kind of things in the e-mails. never put anything in an e-mail you don't want to see on the front page of the new york times and the notion they don't understand. if you put something in electronic medium somebody is probably going to steal it and folks that don't get that tells me that maybe they don't

understand how you do security in the on modern age. >> so you're saying it doesn't matter the party affiliation, it could happen to anybody is what i think you just said. >> i wouldn't be real proud of saying they're hacking them and they're not hacking me because you can get hacked tomorrow. this is a big problem. it does reflect the behavior of officials. the stuff they're putting in these things is that they don't recognize that their systems could be compromise at any time. if you want security, security today is on the medium you're transmitting on. if we're talking in a classified room that conversation is not going anywhere but if you put something in electronic medium then the potential for that to get out is high. >> can everyone be certain that russia is behind this. >> people need to understand the for enices of how do you this. what this is based on is these are codes, malicious software that have been linked to the

russians before in other hacks, including government systems, but what you have to remember is once a malitia's code is out there other people could steal it or take it or download it and use it for themselves. >> so it's easy for those other malitia actors to get those type of codes. >> right. oftentimes once a code is exposed the white house will put it out there so people can look at it and figure out how to works and everything else. so the forensics of how this works is there may be other things the government does including spying on somebody who says we did that to the dnc. that's what really matters. that's where you get real serio serious at serious. sometimes they won't tell us how they know something because they tend to not want to share all the sources and methods because

bad guys would know how to get the information. >> if it's not russia will they admit it or keep quiet. i think the question most people want to know is can russia influence or manipulate a presidential campaign here in the u.s. >> right. the short answer is probably no but from the russian perspective this is totally awesome because the russians are being blamed for it and they can deny it and even if they're not behind it they're getting street credit for it. this is an enormous embarrassment to the united states and the american people and to president obama. this is the russian way of like putting up the finger right in your face and even if they didn't do anything they get the credit for it. if they did do it it's not to drive the elections. maybe the russians are stupid the best political people in this country can't predict what's happening. i think the russians are smart enough to know they can't. the purpose isn't to get one party or the other elected.

>> the first thing is a lot of latinos do not know who tim kaine is. the vast majority of them are learning about tim kaine for the first time. i think for a lot of latinos it's nice he speaks spanish but the research center came out with a poll that said that you don't have to speak spanish to be a latino. i think what's interesting is you're saying this backlash among latino groups who are saying tim kaine is not latino, he's white, so it's sort of undercutting this notion that a lot of democrats had if i put somebody who speaks spanish we're going to get the latino vote. i don't think it's that simple. >> does it matter that tim kaine learned spanish arressisting th in honduras where you learned a bit about the heritage?

i don't know if that counts or not and if it does count where else is kaine rating high and what areas is he maybe not quite making the grade. >> i think it certainly helps identify with the latino community. he's using every opportunity to use the spanish on the stump. i think where it's going to be effective is reaching out to hispanics on hispanic language television because you can do interviews that hillary clinton cannot. the big thing to remember is for a lot of hispanics the biggest issue they don't have a job or they haven't seen a pay increase in some time. that's where i think tim kaine and hillary clinton are vulnerable because the economy has not grown for latino voters. >> it's about issues is what you're saying? it may be a touch that some of the spanish speaking networks and some local stations would have access -- better access for some to tim kaine but you're saying bottom line it's about issues. so could the choice of tim kaine

maybe inadd verntly send some undecided latino voters into the trump camp or would it be about policy issues that would send some of the latino voters to the trump camp? >> i tang ithink it's going to combination of both. hillary clinton walks into the election with a lead in the latino votes. it will be which latino voters which are eligible to vote show up to vote in november. four years ago about half of the eligible latino voters sat out. if the donald trump goes in there and says we're going to create jobs and do what barack obama has not done donald trump has a shot to win latino voters in november. >> you believe if donald trump says i can create jobs they would believe mr. trump over secretary clinton if she said the same thing? >> i think so. obviously the democrats and the

democrats, we are the party of working people. but we haven't done a good enough job showing we get what you're going through and we're going to do something to help. >> that of course was hillary clinton during her convention acceptance speech on thursday night. making her pitch to donald trump's biggest voting bloc, working class voters. mrs. clinton and her running mate are continuing that pitch today, day two of their bus tour through pennsylvania. a state where donald trump thinks he can win over those voters. you think mrs. clinton can peel off some of the trump base and why has it been so successful for mr. trump? joining us is one of the co-chairs of the trump campaign in new york, he's also a republican new york city councilman who represents the great borough of staten island.

>> happy to be here. >> donald trump and pennsylvania, about half of the voters in the keystone state are white working class voters. why do you think they potentially will go for mr. trump this time? >> i think it's a broader issue for the democratic party they're starting to lose the white working class. the problem for hillary is first and foremost her image. she's someone who has a hard time bonding with people who are even appearing somewhat blue collar. successful democrats in the past, joe biden. >> scranton joe. >> right, scranton joe. bill clinton, he's a regular guy, he has that image. hillary lived in a bubble for the past 30 years and it really has allowed her reputation to sort of evolve into something that people just could never see her being someone they'd bump into in a diner. >> she talked about her mother being abandoned, her mother having to go to work, being a house cleaner and this sort of thing. do you think the clinton

foundation and all the money and that comment of hers saying when she left the white house they were broke, which basically they were, millions of dollars in legal fees, do you think all that -- >> her fundamental problem is trustworthiness. and you see her taking some time in her speech and bill taking time in his speech to try to humanize her. i actually sympathize with her in a way. she has 40 years of scandals. i don't think -- the speech she needed to give to sort of take that back and take these scandals away, i don't think she could have even given if she tried hard. >> appealing to the voters that she's doing right now, this afternoon, we're going to show you live some of her appearance at this manufacturing event. but in the obama years, the last quarter, our gross national product, the growth is like 1.2% in the last quarter. here's what donald trump said about that in november. >> long-term unemployment is the worst it's been since the 1940s.
