baltimore this time. 126 passengers forced to evacuate as the nose gear collapsed. the aircraft is tilting forward on the tarmac right there. no one was hurt. the passengers were then put on another flight to atlanta. no word yet what caused that landing gear to collapse. what was once a home is now just a pile of broken wood and glass after a massive explosion tears that home apart. drone video showing just how much damage was done. this is here in connecticut. seven people, including four children, had to be pulled from the rubble of that house. this morning a 7-year-old is in serious condition. that blast was so powerful it blew the front door off. it was at a house across the street. it's not clear what caused that explosion but a natural gas leak is a possibility and we are hoping for the best for that 7-year-old child. look at this video stumping the internet.

moines, iowa. good morning, peter. >> good morning, anna. those republicans who had been begging donald trump to get back on message got their wish yesterday because their nominee rattled off a bunch of reasons he thinks hillary clinton should be locked out of the classified intel briefings that nominees normally get when they're this close to the white house. >> hillary clinton, furthermore, can never be trusted with national security. supposed to be briefed in the not too distant future. you can't brief her. she lost 33,000 e-mails. what happened? 33,000, okay? so what happened? how is it possible? >> trump also continues to complain the election is rigged and that is a point the president decided to needle him on during a conference at the pentagon that was supposed to be all about what's happening.

arizona, is phoenix police spokesperson sergeant jonathan howard with the very latest on the investigation. good morning, sergeant. >> good morning. thanks for having me. >> okay. so what do we know about this guy? >> you know, he started this crime spree back in march. unfortunately he killed three people one night in june. that's when our investigators were able to link together four additional or four primary incidents when we recognized we had a series. >> i've been following this. it seems that the frustrating part is the randomness. there doesn't seem to be any motive. it doesn't seem to have had any contact before the shooting starts, right? >> absolutely. that's what's making this so challenging is that we initially had four victims seemingly innocent people. no pre-incident contact with our suspect. we expanded our search. we found four more incidents through the same circumstance. people inside residential neighborhoods in and around their vehicle being shot for no apparent reason. >> in many cases they're just standing in front of their house and they are shot by this guy

driving by. what's frustrating as well is the fact that you had descriptions of a lot of different cars which says what to you? >> he's got access to cars. he changes the vehicles. it's hard for us to focus in on one particular vehicle so every part of this randomness adds to the challenge of the investigations. >> and what description do you have of this? >> well, we have them described as a thin male, noticeably lanky. most of them have described him as an hispanic male. >> you just don't know. you have a message to the family members and the friends of this person, don't you? >> i do. you know, we've been reaching out to our community asking for tips. they've been doing that, but i want to get specific because i know this man has friends. i know he has family. he's a co-worker of somebody. they need to distance themselves. he shot at a 4-year-old boy last month. he's killed a 12-year-old girl. if he's going to kill children,

contributor jillian turner. what was your take on the president's definition of the 400 million in franks that was delivered. >> so my concern with this payment and with the settlement in general is broader. i'm really concerned not so much that this is a ransom payment but that this was money used to sweeten the broader nuclear deal pot. it was another concession the united states that really showed our weak hand in the negotiation. >> when the president got behind the microphone on january 19th i think it was, he could say, we were going to be sending the first payment of 400 million in swiss franks, it will be arriving. the balance will come at such and such a date. that would have wiped out any problem. it's going to be coming at night if there was no nefarious acts. >> right. >> however, one of the hostages sat on the tarmac for 20 minutes but it was for hours waiting for this other plane with our money to arrive. listen to sayed abideen. >> they told us, you're going to be there for 25 minutes but it

the top of the hour. maria molina joins us. maria, we had a tornado in new orleans last night. >> yeah, we had some severe weather along parts of the gulf coast and they could be seeing more rain. i want to mention out west we've been dealing with those monsoon like storms and that is continuing today and also into this weekend. we're anticipating several more inches of rainfall, as much as two to three into an area that doesn't pick up a lot of rain throughout the year. flash flooding is very possible out there especially in parts of new mexico where we're expecting again several inches of rain. because of this threat we have lots of flash flood watches in effect across new mexico, colorado, also extending into utah. farther west into nevada. most of the rain out there is pretty much over with. meanwhile, across portions of arkansas, also in mississippi, across parts of the south you are looking at more extreme heat. we have a number of heat advisories and excessive heat warnings in effect out here. i show you those forecast temperatures. they're expected to reach the

hey, everybody. good morning. 46 minutes after the hour. just call him the feminist in chief. president obama is focusing on the strides women have made in a personal essay for "glamor" magazine. the president writes, quote, the past eight years has made life significantly better for my daughters. and i say that not just as a president but also as a feminist. we've gone from a job market that basically confined women to a handful of often poorly paid positions to a place where women are leading in every sector. here we have capri cafaro. >> thank you so much. happy to be here. >> why is the president calling himself a feminist? >> well, i think that anyone that has two daughters, he obviously wants to set a strong example. i think most 21st century men see themselves as advocates for women, and i think that's the kind of narrative that president obama is trying to present.

and he's shown that in some of the things that he's done in his administration. one of the first acts that he did -- >> lily ledbetter. you say there are systemic problems he has caused. >> by nature, something that is systemic is something that has been around for a long time. issues of income and equality, ability to access affordable child care, things where it is necessary to be able to access. affordable child care is one that is incredibly important. if women don't have a safe and affordable place to leave their children, they're not going to be able to attain higher income because they're going to be concerned. when you can't pass legislation that helps, for example, provide subsidized child care at a sliding scale that is means tested to enable women to move up further into the work force, you're going to have these long-term issues. obama is not necessarily to blame i don't believe of the lead in that this segment set up. >> well, here's what some of the numbers are that are dug up for

us. 2 million women have slipped into poverty on his watch. the average female income has dropped and also the labor force participation rate for women is the lowest in 25 years. what do you say to those numbers? >> well, i think what we need to remember is women, again, when you are looking at women that are leaving the work force, for example, because they don't have paid family leave. women that may be my mother's age that are trying to take care of an aging parent. women that are our age that may, you know, not be able to get, you know, time off that is paid if they have a child. and millennial women coming into the work force that are new to the work force but are, you know, being paid at a lower rate. you know, when you also look at some of the poverty numbers, they are actually very similar to men. you look at west virginia, for example, which is i think 49th out of 50 when it comes to poverty for women. 45th for men. it's not just isolated to women. that's not to say we have not

all right. we have news of the stole and the leaked e-mails from the democratic national committee might be the start. experts say the election day could be rigged by hackers. >> mr. trump has been talking about whether or not it could be rigged, so kurt the cyberguy joins us. could it be? >> you know, he's talking about rigging the election, i'm talking about hacking the election. because it is entirely possible and this isn't anything new except that a report coming out, a warning is new. that indeed we're a lot more vulnerable to a hacker coming in

and altering the election. >> because of so many electronics? >> because the electronic vulnerabilities along the way. how would a hacker do it? you would target some states that don't use a paper trail. so a lot of states that don't keep a paper trail, they have no backup to it. how would you count the vote if it's close? you can't. five states right now that do that, georgia, delaware, new jersey, louisiana and south carolina. so there's no way to authenticate a vote at that point. another way is target the wireless voting systems. a lot of the voting places go wirelessly from one another to collect all the ballots during the election. any hacker can get into it. in fact, it happened in one case where in virginia, an encrypted technology was being used, it was great, except that the human side error of the side went bad. and the password was guess what, abcde. thank you. that was so easy to get into and

you can tamper with the results. you can do ballot transport. 31 states including the district of columbia communicate ballot results electronically. they could be tampered with on the internet and the moment any part of that process hits the internet, all of those results become a lot weaker. then we have finally the way that you can tamper -- call it tampering terrorism, threatening that there's an attacker, threatening it's not authentic, it can cause us not to trust that. when would that come in play? if the results are neck and neck, the results are super close, we don't have any longer have the ability to really count the votes. we can't really put out the piece of paper votes and count them one by one anymore. >> all it would take in a razor close election would be

well, it's all 5th, but time to look back at july. the jobs report is now out and maria bartiromo with the fox business network joins us right now with a quick look what's happening to get her instant analysis. >> why haven't they moved so long. we have our friends on fox news channel also looking at the jobs numbers. >> good morning. >> hello. >> we're doing a simulcast. fox news channel, fox business channel over there. maria, what's so important about this number is it's the number of jobs the economy added and it can't be any worse than the may number which i think was what, 11,000? >> 11,000 in may. it was a lot weaker than anybody expected. this is important because we know the number one issue as far as voters are concerned is the economy and jobs. right before a presidential election. so every month matters in terms of, you know, what that is going

to do to the voters around how they're going to vote based on what they see as the ability to change their situation from either hillary clinton or donald trump. we're getting the numbers in seconds, guys. let's go to blake berman at the labor department now. >> 255,000 jobs created in july, maria. 255,000 jobs. that beat the expectations of 180,000 jobs and with it, may and june were revised upwards. may revised upwards 13,000 still to the paltry 24,000 numbers and june revised upwards 5,000 to 292,000 jobs. that brings the average over the last three months to 190,000 jobs created. as far as the unemployment rate goes, that stayed the same at 4.9%. though the estimate there, slightly above it, 4.8% estimate. we always look at the labor force participation rate. that ticked upwards to 62.8%.

that's a 0.1% gain from last month. the last time it was 62.1% it was in april. though to put this in context it's still barely above the 62.4% low from september of 2015 at that point. that was a 38-year low. hourly earnings we were just talking about them, they were up 0.3% to $25.69 over the last year. it is up 2.6%. businesses are areas that gained. professional and business services added 70,000 jobs. the health care industry added 43,000 jobs. as far as what moved in the opposite direction, those who are unemployed, plus marginally attached workers and those part-time for economic reasons, that ticked upwards 0.1% to 9.7%. then mining again the energy sector a loss of 6,000 jobs there. but the headline here, 255,000

jobs created. the unemployment rate staying at 4.9%. back to you. >> thank you so much. steve, brian and anna, much better than expected. >> yeah. >> we were expecting 180,000, we've got 255,000, wages went up a little. obviously not much. 0.3%, but you want to see it's in the right movement. the markets immediately trading up right on the heels of this number. basically trading on the idea that the economy has begun to really improve. based on the july numbers. now look we could see a revision. we swhau happened with -- saw what happened with the may number. this is definitely a strong number and it probably does indicate that at some point, maybe at the end of this year, the federal reserve starts to lift interest rates. >> i was going to ask you that, because if the economy is humming, that's a great number, the fed wants to tighten things to make things work the old way. >> up until now we're sitting on zero rates for so long.

it's been great news for people wanting to take out a mortgage. it's been great news for lending. not been good news for savers because obviously you're not get anything return if you have your money in a savings account. >> and it's bad if you're living on a fixed income because the interest rate is close to zero. >> exactly. so people want to see rates move higher so it feels it's realistic where rates should be. and also to give you some competition. that's why the stock market has gone so well, gone up, because there's no return anywhere else. just pushing money into equities. >> 100,000 jobs is what is needed per month to keep up with population growth. do you think we'll hit that next month? is this a trend we're seeing, now they were low and now they have gotten a lot higher? >> i don't want to say one month is a trend, but definitely feels like things are getting better. one of the panelists earlier, joannie corny running a placement firm, said that most of the job creation since 2009 has been in services.

endorsement. but he sent a warning shot saying it's not a blank check and the message to trump was, after the last two weeks get your act together. >> okay. now, karl, the democratic convention ended just a week ago. we knew that hillary clinton would wind up with a bounce, she wound up with a bounce. a lot of things have been picked up by the media and they have been pummelling mr. trump with it. where do we stand right now on this friday? >> well, we stand where the polls suggest we stand, about seven points behind. i think it will probably grow a little bit in the next couple of days because some of the polls that -- about ten days ago, just before the democratic convention began, trump was ahead. as those polls move out of the running average of the real clear politics this margin is likely to grow a little bit. so he's behind, he's had a rough two weeks. he does need to get back on track. and to get back on track means going on the offense. he ought to seize on this jobs number. while he's happy, delighted that

the 255,000 peoples have gotten jobs, looking at over the last quarter, the rate of job creation in the united states, about 190,000, that's less than the year before. and last year it was less than the year before that. i want's slowing down. and -- it's slowing down. and the question is who has the best ideas to get this economy growing again and he ought to contrast himself specifically with hillary clinton's proposals. >> well, you know, hillary clinton though is going to say, hey, these numbers are big. they're a lot bigger than expected. 180,000 expected. 255,000 was the actual number. so when she saying, hey, things are looking up, what does he say to that? what's his answer? >> well, his answer is that's not how the american people are perceiving it. there are people who never got a pay raise in this recovery. the number of people who are working part-time for economic reasons because they can't find a full-time job that grew by a larger number. if you like the way things are going, vote for her.
