work. maybe couldn't get an appointment at the genius bar, the woman said she didn't mind losing it because she has a new porpos in life, get it? she'll get a new one, right? have a great day. it's noon on the west coast, 3:00 in virginia where donald trump is scheduled to speak one day after his controversial comments about how second amendment supporters may be who were able to stop hillary clinton's supreme court pick. so what's he going to say today? and hillary clinton with an event of her own this hour, as her team launches a new push to win over republicans. hillary clinton's also sending off criticism about newly leaked e-mails between the state departme department. think she'll have anything to say about that, also, the wikileaks founder, making some strange hints about a murdered dnc staffer. was this democratic national

movement, the second amendment. hillary clinton wants to take your guns away and leave you unprotected in your home. the nra endorsed me, they're terrific people, wayne, and kris, and they tweeted out they agree 100% with what i said and there can be no other interpretation. >> there actually can, because that is not what he said yesterday. still even some of trump's supporters had a different interpretati interpretation. look at the crowd, laughing at the remark. one guy seem to sort of go slack-jawed on the right hand sort of the screen there. paul ryan said it appeared to be a joke gone bad, and the editor of the nra linked "bearing arms.com" tweeted that was a threat of violence. as a real supporter of the second amendment, it's appalling to me. within two hours that tweet was deleted and people are taking trump out of contact, they say. hillary clinton's camp fueled
12:03 pm
the controversy and sent e-mails to supporters citing trump's remarks to ask for donations. we'll see if hillary clinton weighs in. today our campaign announced another series of endorsements from republicans ditching trump. among them, a former republican congressman from condition conditi connecticut, and john negroponte. the campaign is working to weigh down the release of more e-mails as her secretary of state. the group claims they show an inappropriate relationship between the state department and the clinton family's fin an droppy foundation, and the foundation's attorney asked a wealthy donor of state department officials. an attorney for the clinton foundation asked hillary clinton's staffers to find a job for the colleague. the clinton campaign states they don't show anything unusual at all and didn't work for the foundation at the time.

donald trump's campaign released a statement showing clinton is corrupt and quote she's used public office as nothing more than public enrichment. and as weird as it is, carl cameron live sunrise, florida, where trump is scheduled tonight. it senatcertainly appears to bee day controversy. >> reporter: this is not one there is going to go away, principally because trump's adversaries will bang the drum whether in new conferences or tv ad commercials. you count on all of this. so we're in sunrise, florida, where the thunder and lightning is rapidly bearing down on us and storm clouds for the trump campaign are nothing new and they're going to have to deal with this some more, even though some of the republican critics of donald trump have taken his side as you talked about paul ryan said it was a bad joke gone bad. susan collins, the republican senator from maine who became

the sixth u.s. senator to actual low dump trump and stated she'll support someone else and not him. she said he didn't hear it as a type of insightment of violence as democrats have suggested mr. trump did yesterday and there's been a whole lot of talk whether the secret service is investigating this or not and as we said yesterday, by mission and by law, when there is a verbal threat to a protectee, in this case, it would be ms. clinton as the would-be president of the united states, the secret service has to look into it. they have to do because of taking sides on what trump said or meant or didn't say or didn't mean, but because the secret service has an obligati obligation there are some uncertain people there, and interpret it if it was was illintended. and while trump has been trying to blame the media, the truth of the matter is the secret service has a job to do and no one

interpret interpres what he sai misstateme misstatement. he's tied with hillary clinton. in virginia where he is now, he's trailing in the polls and one of the reason yes he keeps playing up coal. he was talking with coal miners and coal and mining executives earlier today s because he does have a pretty clear case saying that he's going to protect coal and all forms of fossil fuel and american energy whereas hillary clinton has said that over time, the mining industry, particularly coal, is going to go away to find new technologies and new ways to create energy and the left has been saying that such things as quote clean coal are a myth and has to go away because of the environment. >> carl cameron, sunrise, florida, where donald trump will hold a rally tonight, or that's the plan. and he's going to make some comments in a few minutes. you saw that live from abington,

virginia. james holm joins us now, national correspondent to the "washington post." is he trying to lose? >> it's funny, shep. there's a lot of republicans here. >> that was a serious question. >> i know, and there's a lot of republicans -- donald trump wasn't their first choice. there are people here who regularly speculate trump's trying to throw this thing, he some kind of made sure, but now there are a lot of republicans on his team and they want him to win and these are campaign professionals and they're just kind of krirccringing. he's surrounded himself with some experienced campaign veterans and can't stick with it. he can't stick with the message that's winning. it wasn't just the second amendment comment yesterday, which as carl said, from florida, is not just going to go away. dem

demes are going to keep pushing this. >> dems aren't the only ones. over on msnbc, he was a congressman from the first district of florida, the republican and conservative as anybody gets, they're blowing gas gets. republicans are flipping out now. you just wonder what is there to rescue this? i mean, he could stick to the prompter, i suppose, but that's hard for many of us. >> i think the biggest story of august, ultimately, shep is going to be how many republicans ditch trump. the people who are doing it are media elites, dc elites, past administrations, the bush family. more than 80% of self-identified republicans still support him. if people -- if republicans -- the rank and file grassroots start to leave donald trump in droves then you would see republican leaders e effe, elec

officials, and i think you'd see republicans promising to a check and balance on hillary clinton, sort of operating on the assumption that she's more likely than not to become president next year. >> part of his deal is he's a winner, right? >> right, totally. >> you can see a world where all the sudden in a world where he's down ten or 12 points or something in the polls, it's a given that he's going to lose? he's going to lose florida, pennsylvania. if that's the case, how -- he doesn't go through an election as a loser, does he if? if he knows he's going to lose, would he even participate? >> this is one of the things that scares, you know, folks listened to the rnc, for example. they're very worried he's going to stop raising money. if trump decides this is a race he can't win or it's rigged against him and sort of talks himself out of it, he stops raising money, he stops trying, he scales back campaign appearances, and that has consequences for republicans' ability to hold the senate in the house. a lot of these guys carefully
12:10 pm
distances themselves in these purple swing states, they can still win if trump loses ohio by four or five points but if trump loses ohio by ten points, then rob portman loses and he's the senator there. there's a lot of people who don't love trump but they need him to keep it together and that's why they get so freaked out about the second amendment comment, regardless of to what extent he was joking and how hard he's trying to walk it back. they get very worried that he just can't stay on a message. and by the way, all the polls that keep coming up, show hillary clinton is unpopular. she's not like in these swing states, her favorability is very, very low and there are messages that resinate with voters and trump's not driving those messages that could, i think, consolidate some of his support. >> they pointed to a number of areas, the trump campaign along the rust belt and specifically talked about pennsylvania, the non-urban areas, more rural areas of western pennsylvania where they thought he could get
12:11 pm
some transaction and he's down ten or 11 points, depending on what poll you believe. ten or 11 points in pennsylvania, that's rough. >> it's really rough. he has to pass 270 electoral votes and even those close to him will acknowledge colorado, nevada, some of these states are going to be really tough because of the large latino population. ohio and florida are pretty close right now. >> yeah. >> he has to get some other state into his column and for a while they've been thinking pennsylvania, maybe michigan were gettable. when you look at the fundamentals, the pennsylvania electorate isn't just western pennsylvania coal miners, it's the suburbs of philadelphia and the urban areas of philadelphia and trump is just getting demolished there. >> yep, he is. from the daily 202, great toy see you, james, thanks. >> thank you, shep.

12:15 pm
years. so we'll listen to abington, virginia. >> since 2014, 200,000 jobs. and the senator brought up a fact and a couple folks brought this up and it's a fact nobody's heard, but enduring times of national problems where we're talking about the defense of our country, having those minds and having that potential energy source available to usa an awfully important thing. it's an awfully important thing and nobody thinks in terms of that. they don't think in terms of that, and i fully understand that. but it's been an honor. we just met with some of the folks. senator representatives from every aspect of the business, right? and it was amazing. it was really amazing.
12:16 pm
these are great people. they're great americans. they love this country and if i get in, i mean, you know, it's -- if i get in, this is what it is. okay? [ cheers and applause ] and other forms of energy. all forms of energy. but what they've done to the miners is incredible and the obama administration, and you remember, and i think you might have just seen it. you know what they've done and nobody knows clean coal, nobody knows why. look at what's happening with china, the amount of energy they're producing and what they're using coal for. tremendous amounts of -- just tremendous. it's like incredible. and they're not cleaning it. believe me, they're not cleaning it. we have a small -- a very, very small planet compared to the universe, right? and that stuff is going up and they're not cleaning it and here
12:17 pm
we produce great stuff and we're not allowed to use it and it's getting worse and worse. so they're going to be out of business soon, hillary clinton will be worse than obama. you know it. she'll be worse. don't forget when she made the statement, going to put the mines and miners essentially out of business, and i guess she forgot about west virginia, right? she was going to west virginia. she forgot about virginia, too, in all fairness. [ cheers and applause ] she should west virginia right after -- a short time after that, and do you remember when she went into west virginia, she met with that wonderful family, and the man, the miner for many years, and he was trying to explain to her, and she was trying to say, well, you know, i really want to keep -- she was grabbling. she didn't know what to say. i don't think he was going to be easily convinced, do we agree?
12:18 pm
because she said it. just like she said it was a mistake, that she's going to raise taxes in the middle class. you saw that one? nah, maybe she misspoke. we have to give them a break, but it did come out awfully loud and clear. i don't know. hey, look, hopefully it won't matter. hopefully it's not going to matter. [ applause ] . but what i told the folks before we were over in peterbilt, the plant -- incredible -- but what i told the folks before is that you have to get out and vote. because you know, the miners to a certain extent, they're so down and they've been treated so badly, that they haven't been voting. they haven't been going out and voting like they can, and that includes members of their family that have left the mining business, members of the family -- they've left coal.
12:19 pm
they've left everything and they've gone into something else and that's fine, that's great, but they live in virginia, and they vote and their parents are still in the coal world where they want to be, and that's where they want to be. but everybody has to get out and vote. if you get out and vote, we're pretty close in virginia, and she's spending a fortune on ads. a friend of mine can't see television without anti-trump ads and my friend said they're not true. i could go over those ads one by one and show you the -- it's fraudule fraudulent, actually. she's spending wall street money on ads and it's just one, after another, and this guy kidding three said, i just want to see one ivory soap ad, one, just a break-in and we haven't spent anything yet. we will be, because we're doing well. but we haven't spent anything yet. we're holding it. but it's really -- it's really a shame that they can say whatever
12:20 pm
they want to say. they try and demean and defame and then you look at what she's doing with her e-mails. 33,000 missing e-mails. [ crowd chanting "lock her up" ] it's very sad and yesterday i guess 1,000 came out or something, some fairly vast number. i want to see the ones -- what i really would like to see, we have to see the 33,000. you can imagine? remember she said, i think it was for her wedding, the wedding of chelsea, and it was the yoga classes, 33,000 e-mails. that's a lot of yoga. that's a lot of yoga. but a couple of very bad ones came out and it's called pay for
12:21 pm
play, and some of these were really, really bad and illegal, if it's true. you're paying and you're getting things. i watched yesterday, because of the apprentice, blagojevich, 14 years in jail. look at what she's done. she's running for president, but it came out that her people, pay for play and very big stories today, the problem is, it will be big stories for about two minutes and they're going to drop it because the media is so totally dishonest. [ cheers and applause ] if that were me -- if that were me, the story that just came out this morning -- and really, hidden from some of the major
12:22 pm
newspapers, hidden -- if that were me, that would be the biggest story in the history of the papers. they'd go quadruple spacing, but with her, it's just terrible. some of them covered it big league, but some of them are just refusing to really report the facts and i think it's going to get worse and worse though because i assume more stuff will come out. but this was big stuff. pay for play. it's illegal. i mean, it's illegal, and we'll see what happens with it, folks. we'll see what happens. but it's very serious stuff. it's very, very serious. i don't know that it can be any more serious than deleting or getting rid of 33,000 e-mails on all of the things, the server, which you're not allowed to have, the information gotten off that server by who knows who. probably many people. many countries potentially, secretary of state, to put us all in that position.
12:23 pm
so i think it's a very sad thing and they give her a pass on everything. give her a pass. it's so sad when i watch that, and it was point, after point, after point, and everybody was saying, wow, they're really going to do it. and then they go, however, as soon as i heard -- when you hear the word "however," but it's just -- it's so incredible that a thing like that can what happened. so let's see what happens. in the meantime, we're doing very well. you saw the polls have really tightened up a lot. i think we're going to have a great victory. i really feel it. [ cheers and applause ] one of the things i suggested is your ballots, you go and sign, do it early so you don't have to -- because on november 8th, we have our big day and if you
12:24 pm
go sign -- we have some people in the room that i met before that are going to be pushing hard, but put in your ballots. they have certain requirements and you live by those requirements perfectly. make sure they don't lose your ballot, make sure they don't lose your vote, which i'm sure eye ju -- i just left a great place, north carolina. they lost voter id. you mean you don't have to show identification, you don't have to show, that, hey -- and then i've been talking about the rigged system and i get hammered for talking about -- i can't believe he'd be talking about the rigged system and in the meantime, voter id you don't have to do and i'm sure none of those folks would be voting ten times a day. i'm sure. and really a big part of the rigged system is the press itself. because they can take a little story, that isn't a story and make it into a big deal, happen so much.
12:25 pm
it happens so much. and speaking of that, remember this we have so many things that we have to protect in this country. we have to protect our second amendment, which is under siege. [ applause ] >> remember that. it's under siege. thank you. thank you. we have to -- you know, i see -- and by the way, we have a lot of unof unity in the republican party, but nobody talks about it. one senator said we're not voting for trump. some people have been beaten so badly they just can't get -- and i understand that. i can see how that could happen. they've won throughout their lives politically, and they lose an a election by a lot to a guy that never ran before, okay?
12:26 pm
i never ran before, never thought i'd be doing it this time, but i watch what's going on, and i say, it's time. it's time. boy, is it time, right? you know, you look at the iran deal. how about the $400 million in cash? how about that? how about that? the 400 million. do you know what that is? does anybody know what that would look like? 400 million. did you see iran? actually finally did do what i thought they were going to do, they released pictures because they want to embarrass the united states, just like they took the ten sailors and they made us look so bad. they made us look so bad. it was a humiliation of our country, okay? this is horrible. and then we keep going and going and you saw what their so-called leader, somebody would say the
12:27 pm
supreme leader. i refuse to use that term. president obama would say "the supreme leader." what is going on, folks? what is going on with our leaders, and with our leader in particular? he's grossly incompetent, okay? [ cheers and applause ] grossly incompetent. so, $400 million in cash going, it happened to be the same day as the hostages were released. the hostages were in the airport for massive amounts of time. i mean, just one of them said they wouldn't let us go because they were waiting for a certain plane to come in, and i just can't imagine what was on that plane, right? we can't imagine. sure it had nothing to do with the $400 million. but isn't that unbelievable and then he'll stand up and he'll say, that one thing had nothing to do with the other. and they're practically eye
12:28 pm
gue -- i guess you could say there's 1% or 2% chance he was right. they're saying -- they're waiting for something else on a plane to come in and they were at the airport forever. and they say president obama said, no, this had nothing to do with the hostages. and you know if you remember with obamacare, he said you can keep your plan, you can keep your doctor, he said it how many times, 28 or something? many democrats approved that. we're going to repeal it and replace it. but many, many democrats, membership, many democrats would not have -- won by almost nothing, the margin was almost nothing and the democrats approved it. with the doctor and the plan and
12:29 pm
over and over again a lot of pressure put on and it's out of control. premiums are going up, at a rate that nobody has ever seen before. you know, in texas, through blue cross blue shield, they just had almost a 50% increase. and they -- the big increase is now going to come on november 1st and they're trying to delay it until after the election. because it is catastrophic. it is going to be an increase like never before. i'm hearing numbers that i don't even want to say because the press will say, that's terrible, he exaggerated. it's going to be election-changing and we can't let those numbers be released on another date sometime after the election because it will show what a total disaster obamacare is, so important. so i just say to all of the politicians and you great congressman -- where is he, by
12:30 pm
the way? congressman, stand up. stand up. [ cheers and applause ] vote for him. he's our guy. senator, stand up, senator, come on, senator. [ cheers and applause ] we have great people here. so right now, they're swimming up hill, but with trump we'll be just sliding beautifully down. it will be a whole different field. it will be a whole different field and it can happen quickly. we discussed that. we had a big meeting and it doesn't need to go through congress and doesn't need to go through lots of different things. epas, very important what they've done. and we want -- everybody agrees, we want clean air and clean water. do we agree? i want it. so, i very much appreciate the meeting. i just want to say that virginia
12:31 pm
has lost one in three manufacturing jobs since nafta, signed by bill clinton. nafta is a disaster. it's been a disaster not only for virginia, but for every -- virtually every state. upstate new york, it looks like a war zone. that's why i won so much. and i got the upstate vote in numbers that nobody's seen before. upstate new york, you go to new england, you see the factories, these beautiful old factories that you see were once thriving, thousands and thousands of people working and those people now are doing part-time jobs. they're working two jobs, making less money than they made 18 years ago. i don't know if you saw that statistic where people -- and people in this room, too, people are making less money now in real wages than they made 18 years ago and even longer and they've gotten older and they're
12:32 pm
working harder. not supposed to be that way, but i've gotten older and i'm working harder, too, to be honest. i didn't need this. i could have enjoyed myself a lot. we're all getting older and we're working hard. it's supposed to be the other way, right? we're getting older and starting to relax. i don't know if i like that. i love what i'm doing. i have been all over this country. we have the greatest people, anywhere in the world, the greatest people. and i have the greatest, most loyal supporters, and the smartest. they always like to demean everything. they try and demean supporters, they're always trying to put little shots, boom, boom, boom. we've got the smartest, the hardest working, the best people. they like to demean, but we have
12:33 pm
amazing people. i've seen this all over the country. and we can start making apple computers in our country, okay, foxe folks? we can do it. we go to china and think of the shipping cost. how many of a difference. we can -- you've been to all the different states and you'll get the good deal from somebody. just keep it in our country. when they close plants and move to mexico, and then a company builds in mexico, whatever product they're making and they think they're going to sell the product back into the united states, all of their people have been fired, every single one of them and they're using people from another nation to make the same product and you know what, they think they're going to sell it across our border, which will become a very powerful, strong border. it's no longer going to be a piece of swiss cheese. and they think -- they think they're going to sell it across the border, no tax, no nothing,
12:34 pm
sell it to wherever it came from, let the people that got laid off buy it and now maybe they're unemployed and maybe working two making less. it's not going to happen, folks. i guess you could say it's stupid. they're controlled by special interes interests. when you see companies moving over to mexico and other places, they're controlled by special interests. they're controlled by lobbyists, they're controlled by their donors who have big chunks or own the whole company. these aren't stupid people, our politicians. for, but we have a genius right over here, that's all i care about. some are because a lot of them are controlled because that's the way the system works. a friend asked me, how did a deal like this get approved,
12:35 pm
it's impossible. he said how is it possible? and he's a little naive and i said it's possible because that company has total control over the politicians that have to approve. now, i spent like over $50 million, substantially over $50 million in the primaries, my own money. i spent a lot of money now in the general election and i'm spending a lot of money for myself. we're getting a lot of money. don't waiforget, i have to give. we have a lot of small donors. $61, i think average, who raised millions of dollars. in june, we raised $51 million of which, like, $27 million was small donors. $27 million. [ cheers and applause ] and last month we raised $82 million of which much of it was small. i love the small donations to me the best, and so i'm spending a
12:36 pm
lot of money for myself, raising a lot of money for the republican party, but the beautiful thing is the people that are giving those small dollar donations, $61 average because those people are invested in a campaign they want to get out and vote 100%. they get out there and they vote and it's so important. then a republican generally -- do you know who had it? bernie sanders had it. he raised a lot of money with that. and we have a different side of the ledger. we have the same thing. people are shocked. newspapers that hate me, that hate me, they were very nice about it. the month before, we didn't raise mnothing. once we started, we started in june and i think we did 51 million and then 82 million and very good numbers coming in again. so we're equipped. we have to get the people out to
12:37 pm
vote, but we're going to do a job for you and you're going to be really happy in virginia, okay? and i'm not only talking, by the way. i'm not only talking about the miners. i'm talking about the whole state because virginia's lost one in three manufacturing jobs, right, since nafta signed by bill clinton. didn't hurt him, it hurt every other president, where the country emptied out without an agreement to sign the existing u.s. trade deficit with tpp, transspecifi trans pacific partnerpartnershi. nafta is the worst economic deal ever signed by any other country in the world, that's how bad it is. and as part of my platform, i made a speech that said we're going to renegotiate nafta. they said suppose we don't
12:38 pm
renegotiate and i said that's okay, we're out of it. it's such a perfect story. i could hire a consulting firm, pay them millions, and they'll tell me what's going on with her and mexico and the different places, but i have a friend who builds plants. i said how you doing, he said unbelievable. i said great, it's going well in the united states. he's a u.s. guy. he love this is country. he said, no, it's going unbelievable in mexico. he said we're building some of the greatest plants in the world. he called it the eighth wonder of the world. he said mexico is the eighth wonder of the world. i said how about here? he said not so good. he's an american guy. he wants to build here. but i think he's the biggest in the world at plants or just one of them. but he builds plants and can't
12:39 pm
believe what's going on in mexico. >> so donald trump's messaging continues there and hillary clinton is autopsy speaking. she's holding a rally in des moines, iowa, and is expected to discuss some of the recent controversies, let listen in. 100,000 jobs on my plan and lose more than 33,000 jobs on donald trump's plan. i have to tell you what i believe, which is that if we want to get the economy working for everybody, then we need a campaign that lays out the agenda so people can vote for it so that when i'm elected i can tell the congress this is what the people of america voted for us to do. [ cheers and applause ] so i get pretty excited and pretty carried away, pretty enthusiastic about what we can do because we've done it before.

i couldn't believe all of that pessimistic talk coming out of the republican convention. i didn't know what country they were talking about. of course we have challenges. yes. we have problems, of course we do. but there is nothing america can't do if we decide to set some goals and pursue them because you know what, we are stronger together. and let me say something about what i think is a critical difference between my opponent and myself. words matter, my friends. and if you are running to be president or you are president of the united states, words can have tremendous consequences. yesterday, we witnessed the
12:41 pm
latest in a long line of casual comments from donald trump that crossed the line. his casual cruelty to a gold-star family, his casual suggestion countries should have nuclear weapons and his casual insighting of violence. every single one of these incidents shows us what donald trump simply does not have the temperament to be president and commander in chief of the united states. [ cheers and applause ] so the stakes have never been higher. i'm humbled and moved by the republicans who are welling to stand up and say that donald trump doesn't represent their values.
12:42 pm
not only as republicans, but as americans. i have to tell you, i feel that same sense of responsibility. we may not agree on everything, but this is not a normal election. and i will work hard for the next three months to earn the support of anyone willing to put our country first. [ cheers and applause ] as a young man said to me in florida the other day, friends don't let friends vote for trump. i also think trump's belief that he alone can fix america's problems is so contrary to who we are as a nation. our founders set up our country
12:43 pm
so that we had three branches of government that had to work together, we had the federal government, state, and local governments that had to work together and that's what we've done so successfully. and a lolong comes trump and sa basically i can do this alone. what about the troops on the front lines who rely on each and other support each other? what about our law enforcement officers what rely on each and other support each other? what about our teachers and our educators who rely on each other and support each other? what about our doctors and our nurses who rely on each other and support each other? we know that we're stronger together because we've seen what happens when we work together. and that is exactly what we're going to do to build on the progress that we've made, to set those goals and go after them
12:44 pm
together, but i can't do this without your help. i hope you will join this campaign, please. join us by texting join j-o-i-n to 47246, or hillary clinton.com. we are organizing across iowa. we're going to be helping people vote early so that they can make sure their vote will count. we're going to be reaching into every part of this state. and we're going to be talking and listening as we did way back in april, to learn what's on the minds of iowans and to figure out what you need from the next president. i know that any election is
12:45 pm
hard. it's filled with unpredictable twists and turns, but i want you to imagine what you will feel like the day after that election if we have not come together. >> dueling rallies? one of a sort of statement really from donald trump and hillary clinton in des moines, iowa. and our national political reporter, who writes the widely read, 202. his vaeadvisors telling him you need to be talking about jobs and the economy and he did it. >> he did it. he was more subdued, wasn't reading from a teleprompter, but at times sounded like it. he's in a part of virginia, coal country, as you were saying, the unemployment rate is high. people are scared about their

jobs and scare body what hillary clinton said about putting miners out of work. he didn't go on a tangent about the secret service talking about his campaign or the second amendment. and hillary clinton going on the attack, causing about the casualty cruelty was one of the sound bytes that emerged from there, putting what hillary clinton said into a larger pattern, trying to make the case he doesn't have the temperament. so hillary clearly as carl cameron was saying a little bit ago, seeing this as a winning issue for her. she's going to keep swinging on it tomorrow in iowa and michigan. >> think if he can stay on message as his advisors can message, he can tighten this thing up? it's not like she's so wildly popular? >> i really think he can. i think he has much higher floor than people give him credit for. he's the underdog, but you know, we spend a lot of time talking about these republican deflections but the bottom line,
12:47 pm
85% of republican rank-and-file grassroots are supporting donald trump. he's winning among independents. the polls in the past 24 hours, the two most important swing states are within the margin of error. the fact he's in this position after a series of gasts, after struggling to stay on message, drive a message layout a case that could really win this election, so we have about 90 days left until the campaign comes to an end. there's no doubt that if you ran a serious credible campaign, this would be a tight race and i'll tell you why. the clinton campaign, when you talk to them, they're very worried about their supporters becoming -- taking it for granted, thinking if they put this away -- because they know that hillary's not that popular with a lot of americans and so i think republicans are throwing in the towel more than democrats are spiking the football.

>> james holman thank you very much. >> thank you. the agency known for leaking top-secret documents, wikileaks, caused uproar when it released tens of thousands of e-mails ahead of the democratic convention. now that site's founder is implying the source was a dnc staffer murdered before the info came out. that's coming up. at ally bank, no branches equals great rates. it's a fact. kind of like bill splitting equals nitpicking. but i only had a salad. it was a buffalo chicken salad. salad. i am totally blind. i lost my sight in afghanistan. if you're totally blind, you may also be struggling with non-24. calling 844-844-2424. or visit my24info.com.

about a month ago, somebody shot him in the back near his home in d.c. a month later we don't know of any suspects and no motives. cops say it doesn't seem to have been a robbery now because the killer or killers did not take his stuff. when you rob someone, you have to take their things. but they also say rich's death, there's no evidence that had anything to do with his job. the killing happened a couple weeks before the democratic convention and days before the convention started in philly, wi wikileaks put out a number of e-mails, saying hillary clinton was favored over bernie sanders, and stepping down, and its founder, julian as anne give an

interview. >> a worker for the dnc, shot in the back two weeks ago as he was walking down the street in washington. >> that was a robbery, wasn't it? >> there's no finding. >> what are you suggesting? >> i'm suggesting that our sources take risks and they become concerned to see things occurring like that. >> he's cryptically saying that man was murdered because of it and was a source. julian assange wouldn't answer if jeff rich was in fact one of the sources of the e-mails but it is what it is. let's bring in glen hall, news editor for "the wall street journal." >> he's always very circumspect.

he wanted to make sure it had a chilling foundation on wick i leaks and explains the $20,000 award wikileaks put up as an effort to help solve this case and bring the murderer to justice. >> his suggestion is somebody took a hit out of this guy for the leak as if $20,000 is going to solve that. it sounds like it's above that pay grade. is it possible he's looking for some publicity here? i don't know. >> i think there's a lot of different stakes that play here. we've seen before wikileaks started to use crowd funding to raise money as an effort to sort of be able to pay informants so you get a sense they haven't been getting the leaks they hope to keep the site going. this dnc leak was probably a big opportunity for them as a business if you will and he's got a vested interest in making sure informants do not feel threatened and afraid to provide information for fear of death or something like this. so casting it in that light, putting a reward out there is a

symbol and all of these things need to be taken in the context of the type of operation, organization and business, that julian assange is running. >> you would think he would need to go to authorities with it if someone is murdered. there's no seemingly reason for that murder. they first said it may have been robbery, ybut didn't realize he steal anything. he didn't even have his wallet on him at the time. they didn't take that. so i did guess people can be randomly murdered, but if he had information, authorities ought to speak on this. >> yes and i've seen reports where the d.c. police that are investigating have not heard from him. they don't have any corroboration of any conspir easiacy theories. it's a tricky situation. he hasn't provided any information to the dutch television station about how or why this took place. this is all insig sinuation.
12:56 pm
>> he has a very weird dripping graphic behind him. >> that's the wick i leak, i think, happening in the background. >> it's very weird and creepy. >> the whole story is kind of weird and creepy in a lot of ways. >> we'll stay on this dc murder and see if there's any attachment, thank you. we'll be back with a look at the opening of one of the famous museums in all the world and it happened on this day in history. ooh... >>psst. hey... where you going? we've got that thing! you know...diarrhea? abdominal pain? but we said we'd be there... woap, who makes the decisions around here? it's me. don't think i'll make it. stomach again...send! if you're living with frequent, unpredictable diarrhea and abdominal pain, you may have irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea or ibs-d - a condition that can be really frustrating. talk to your doctor about viberzi. a different way to treat ibs-d. viberzi is a prescription medication you take every day that helps proactively manage both diarrhea and abdominal pain at the same time. so you stay ahead of your symptoms.
12:57 pm
viberzi can cause new or worsening abdominal pain. do not take viberzi if you have or may have had pancreas or severe liver problems, problems with alcohol abuse, long-lasting or severe constipation, or a blockage of your bowel or gallbladder. if you are taking viberzi, you should not take medicines that cause constipation. the most common side effects of viberzi include constipation, nausea, and abdominal pain. stay ahead of ibs-d... with viberzi.
