and developing a very powerful speech and delivered it it very well. he showed leadership in north carolina, in going to louisiana at a ti when you have barack obama golfing and not able to get off of a vacation. hillary clinton tired and taking a day or two off to rest. so you saw real leadership. in his speech today, there is a clear statement that he wants to be a vehicle to change their lives. so offer them a chance to have safety in police stations like milwaukee, chicago, and baltimore. he wants to represent all americans. all americans in their appeal, that means i think that is the best week so far.

. >> we have 81 days to go now. if we're looking for the secret sauce, i think it is about winning days. but objectively speaking, from my perspective, him staying focused on hillary and obama's failures, talking about real issues, and how bad things have gotten, and how bad things can be, there seems to be a special sauce there. that is maybe working versus getting distracted. >> i think it is tremendously important and he is wiping with it. he is very smart and he will do what works. and the fact that he is the one that insisted in milwaukee they use a teleprompt ter because what he was saying was so come belling and so potentially dangerous you had to say it with

great clarity and discipline, and that is exactly what he pulled off. i think adding to the caliber of steve bannon and kelly conway, it will be remarkable in helping him to fashion -- he clearly wants to win. >> what about poll leading? >> i don't know how the details work. i thought paul did a great job of getting a national, professional campaign. i'm guessing that he was being generous in recognizing that the news media would not let up about what happened in ukraine. nobody is going to under estimate how much he did to help

the campaign get to where it is right now. >> very interesting, he mentioned the speech in michigan earlier today pip think it was similar to his reach out just outside of milwaukee to the black community. we have a 58% increase. so obama has been president, 20% increase. black community, out of the labor force. and what was interesting is monday when he talked about isis, he talked about the persecution of women's, gays, christians, and jews that give hillary clinton money. then he talked about the black community, and then he said this in north carolina. i think we would be negligent if we dent play this. >> sometimes in the heat of

competition, you say the wrong things. i have done that and believe it or not, i regret it. and do i regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain. too much to be at stake for us to be consumed with these occasions. one thing i can promise you this. i will always tell you the truth. >> i thought that was in a important moment. >> the number of people who told me they thought it was a huge moment, look, donald trump a

remarkable person. he is extraordinarily smart. remarkably successful and a great competitor. it was a contest between his stubbornness and his iq. his iq knew he had to move to a new level and become a real presidential alternative. stubbornness said wait, i have else been this guy. why am i having to change. i think what you have seen this week, i don't know if he will like the term or not. more mature, and in a way more humble donald trump. they are seeking to lead the most complicated country in the world. it is a real burden. you have to think through in a special way how to lead the american people. this is how we saw over and over that we are bringing people

together in a way that is very, very important. it hillary and trump had their conventions. do you see this -- let me ask you this straight up, do you think he wins this? >> yeah, for two reasons. first of all, i was privileged to sit through a briefing learning all of the things they know about hillary clinton and bill clinton. it is staggering. we only know 10% of what we know. he have drown under everything they have found. a former chairman saying they need to close the foundation. the boston globe, a liberal

foundati source, saying close the foundation. >> they will not close it unless she wins. here is the real problem. whatever they say now about what they will say, they admitting there is at least an appearance of corruption. they are case after case. she is going to lose. now when she loses, donald trump will win, but my second point donald trump is on the verge of creating a generally historic movement that springs together people of all backgrounds. potentially a bigger coalition than reagan had, and this is where he appeals, and in this meeting tomorrow with latino leaders in new york, you will see more and more effort, i think, for them to bring all

indefensible. you have the big unions, they don't care if the students fail to learn as long as the teacher's union gets what they want, which is money. going down the list, you have the big donors who want globalization at the expense of the american people. when you go through all of that, you realize you can't tell the truth about what they're doing. if obama told the truth about obama care, you're not keeping your doctor, your insurance, your premium and deductible are going up, they would have been slaughtered. so they continue to choose lying. >> and the american people have suffered. and i give out the numbers all of the time about the participation, the lowest home rate, one in five american families, nope in the family

vetted you to make sure you were not a communist. or we would not let you in. what trump has done is raised the core question about what is at it's heart and i am not for someone that wants to come and destroy the constitution. we have every right to defend ourselves and defend our institutions of freedom. >> what do you think of the idea for a commission. >> it depends on who you appoint. if you pick someone from the muslim brotherhood, it could be disruptive. i think they picked good people.

here. i think we have the reality of seeing a donald trump that is a businessman that wants to fik the problem, but also the compassionate side. something that ivanka trump has mentioned several times. the man with the big heart that wants to help people. i think that is incredibly effective, especially when you want to gain ground with women. sue -- suburban moms. >> i think it was pretty powerful when he said he regretted it. >> this is him in michigan talking about the president golfing. while hundreds of people are losing their homes in louisiana. >> the spirit of the people is incredible. and obama ought to get off of the golf course and get down

live from america's news headquarters, storm victims who lost their homes from the massive flooding in louisiana will soon have a place to stay. state governor says short-term housing and food is on the way. fema will be providing hotel rooms to those affected. nearly 4,000 people are still living in shelters, following the storm. republican presidential nominee donald trump toured the damage friday. president obama will visit next week. and another monster wild fire tearing through southern california at this hour. this one, 60 miles east of los angeles in san bernardino county. estimates suggest the flames have destroyed more than 100 homes along are some 200 other buildings. crews are making significant progress but the fire has

of 2016. the problem that the clinton camp has is they're taking for granted, as the democrats have, for many, many years prior, they're taking for granted the african-american vote. they make all of the right statements, they make all of the right promises, but they deliver on nothing. and it almost takes these communities not just for granted, but it doesn't take into consideration that they know what they need. they know what they want, and they're ready for it. >> let me ask you this. i think that donald trump has the best week since the convention. let's examine why. number one i feel he was on teleprompter. i think he is going to be more prone to, not even -- i won't say gaffes, but saying things that the media can bend, that totally distract and distort for four days.

if he does that, i think it will resonate because who doesn't want to live in safe neighborhoods, sean, and who doesn't want to get paid? >> i agree. but don't you think he went a long way? monday he talked about gays and lesbians being killed by countries that are giving a m e fortune, millions and millions of dollars to hillary clinton, they bought her silence. tuesday he's talking about black americans and how they've suffered under the failed policies of democrats, the failed management of big cities in america, and now he's going to get more jobs and more opportunity. a powerful message. >> it was a very powerful message. what i'm saying is, if he sticks to that message, if he's disciplined and continues to hammer that message home, he will find success. all he needs to do is look in obama's backyard of chicago. since he's been president, actually over the last 20 years, you've seen the murder rate

explode. 71% of those murders were complicated committed by blacks. 61% of the kids born in that community are to single parent families. when you talk about whether there's been success in these democrat-owned cities, and these democrat-run communities, the answer is a resounding no. they keep doing the same thing over and over and over again and expect a different result. that is the definition of insanity. so you would think that at this point in time, americans of african-american descent would be willing to ditch democrat policies. >> willing to ditch, absolutely. but they've got to do it in favor of something that makes sense to them. this is donald trump's opportunity to talk about rahm emanuel, public schools were not open, they were shot and killed. these are glaring examples that
