>> no. i'm a northerner so i don't have as much with cracker barrel. >> it's amazing. >> pete hegseth setting in this morning for tucker. sandra, nice to see you this morning. >> clayton. we were just talking the summer is going back way too fast. >> back-to-school gadgets coming up but first we have. this my kids going back to school monday. anyway, the state department coming to hillary clinton's rescue once again. now claiming it won't court ordered scheduled email release until after election day. garrett tenney is in washington, d.c. with more on this unseemly timely development. >> pete, sandra, and clayton, this could be great news for the clinton campaign. just this week we learned when the a.p. annualized the first half of hillary clinton's minute-by-minute term of hillary clinton's secretary of state which has

already been released, more than half of the people she met or spoke with outside the government had given money to the clinton foundation for a total of $155 million. as things currently stand, we won't know if that holds true for the second half of her term at the state department until after the election. and just weeks before the next president is inaugurated. back in january after the a.p. filed a lawsuit against the state department, a u.s. district judge ordered the state department to begin releasing batches from detailed schedules from her time as secretary of state. at the time the order was for the state department to release 600 pages a month because the state department said they didn't know how many pages were left. yesterday they told them there were about 2700 pages left. meaning, under the current schedule we can expect to see those around december 30th. it is possible that the judge could order state to speed things up which is something the a.p.'s lawyers have formally requested. they are asking for

everything to be released by october 15th. as of now, there are no indications that that will happen. >> thank you. >> why this is so important, obviously, is because of what the a.p. was already able to uncover because of some of the calendars they had access. who was able to buy access. who was able to meet with clinton while she was secretary of state who also had donated money to the clinton foundation. >> that a.p. report revealing that more than half the people outside the government who met or spoke with her by telephone while she was secretary of state had given money either personally or through companies or groups to the clinton foundation. that's why if the rest isn't going to be released before the election how big of an impact. >> the judge has mentioned there is mounting frustration that this -- there could be dragging of feet on this. ultimately you want to know what's happening minute by minute. especially whether it's benghazi or the pay to play scandal. who is she talking to? as you said half of the people she is meeting with outside of official channels

are someone who donated to the foundation. >> why december 30th? everyone is out drinking new year's eve time. release the documents at that time instead of before the election? come on. we are getting a look inside the clinton foundation. if you have listened to the slate political gab fest. it's a podcast. it's good. davidson was a contributing writer for the new yorker. he was insider. he worked with the clinton foundation. he was there. he saw what happened at the clinton global initiative, big event where all those rich people come and rub elbows. the big economic forum. he said it's creepy. listen to how he describes the clinton global initiative. listen. >> i have spent a decent amount of time at the clinton global initiative. i fell into this thing which what i'm about to say is going to mean i will fall out of this thing. there is a real creepy vibe to me personally at the clinton initiative. it seems, to me, that it is all about buying access.

there is this kind of creepy theater that happens where you have the ceo of coca cola or ibm or whatever or ge up there with president clinton they are bathing each other in love how generous and loving they are. it feels like the worst version of an elite selling access to the aspirational creating this theater of doing good but it's all about something else. it really feels gross. >> the best part about this. listen to the whole clip it feels gross, creepy, and he goes on to say but i can't wait for vote for hillary clinton and i wish i could move to ohio so that my vote mattered more. >> the alternative to him is donald trump, of course. you know what? yeah, this is a little creepy. what stood out to me is the charity work they have talked about. it's not been effective. what are you donating money for. where is all this money for. he highlights haiti one area they did some good work. it's such a small narrow

focus there that it could have a little bit of a broad impact but even haiti didn't have much of an impact. >> for him to go on to say it seems to me that it is all about buying access and to your point to go out and say that he is still going to vote for hillary clinton. it's unbelievable revelation. >> have angelina jolie and other celebrities parade around the room to impact with voters very little impact towards the causes they were supporting supposedly. >> much has been made about the health of the candidates. hillary clinton's health and donald trump. >> how are you feeling, clayton? >> i have let myself go so i wouldn't be president of anything. nbc has spent almost zero time covering hillary clinton's health. of course. >> almost zero or literally zero. >> literally zero. look at this. this is hillary clinton's time monday on nbc, zero all the way through the week. zero minutes of coverage for hillary clinton's health coverage. >> wow. >> theres with a lot of conversation about that, some speculation. you could at least cover the

speculation that, hey, what is her health and how is it going? but donald trump's doctor, remember back in december he released this kind of funny letter, had a bunch of typos and grammar questions and saying that donald trump, there he is doctor the gas astro enter rolling gist is he going to be the specimen like superman. is he going to be the healthiest human being to ever sit in the white house. >> they have launched an investigation. visa versa, donald trump has gone after hillary clinton and her health. said that she is lacking stamina to be the president. >> now this letter has come back into the fray over the past week that he wrote and released back in december. >> so nbc is now covering this letter, which he wrote quickly in order to cover donald trump's health and they are covering the fact that a limousine came to pick up the letter and deliver it. >> donald trump waited outside his office and nbc is treating this as like breaking news. >> this is breaking news in light of the fact that we do have new revelations or new speculation about hillary clinton's health. >> they get this sitdown, exclusive with donald trump's doctor.

joining me now director of polling at the cato institute. good morning? >> we are seeing him soften, as he said. >> that was his word, yes.

>> on illegal immigration by saying he no longer supports the mass deportation of illegal immigrants in this country which he said last year and got him a lot of support, many of his core supporters including ann coulter, for instance, right now. i think this is a big risk that he is taking because, statistical models of public opinion polling data show that immigration attitudes by far are the strongest driver of his core supporters. is he taking a big risk. >> naturally, i'm wondering why. why did he make this move this week so close to the election? >> so i have been thinking a lot about this. i have been looking through the polling data. i actually think this strategy might be brilliant. >> you just said he took this huge risk but go ahead. >> let me explain. here's why. if you look at his core set of supporters. it's true, they care more about mass deportation of immigrants than regular republicans that didn't vote for trump in the primaries let alone regular american voters who largely favor

legal status for illegal immigrants. what do they really care about? it's not just mass deportation. they care a lot about the wall. the wall along the border with mexico. i think we -- >> and we have the poll for that building a wall along the border among trump supporters, 79% favor building that wall, just 18% oppose it. >> yes. you know, one trump supporter even put it like this. she said, look, as long as we build the wall, that's the most important thing. >> and every time he talks about his stance on deportations he reiterates we're building that wall. >> big, beautiful wall. >> so let's talk about where he stands and where all the candidates stand as far as latino voter preference. right now you are looking at clinton with 59% of the preference. trump just 17%. so close to the election, trump looks like he still has a lot of work to do. can he turn these numbers around? >> do you notice how third party candidate gary johnson has almost the same amount

of support among hispanic voters. pretty amazing is he a third party candidate rather than a major party candidate. donald trump is doing very poorly among hispanics. his favorability ratings are abysmal and declining. latest poll had him at 15% favorable. this latest move to soften on immigration, is he not really going to pick up many hispanic investigators. that's not even his goal. i think his goal is really to try to pick up those suburban, white, college educated voters who largely favor legal status. and he has been having a lot of trouble really securing their support. >> hillary clinton and the democrats really seem to be seizing on his softening stance and making it look more like a flip flop. thank you for clearing up exactly what that was this morning. emily ekins, thank you for joining us. good to have you. >> thank you. >> black lives matter not really known as a peaceful movement, is that movement just misunderstood? it depends on how ask. the debate is next. hillary clinton celebrates national dog day by tweeting

different conversation. >> frustrating many of them are being told who to vote for. donald trump still struggles to get their vote, what could he do to win them over, especially those still undecided? >> you touched on a completely true point with young people with leadership and students on campuses talking to young people. they are always saying we don't like the man telling us who to support forcing their opinions on us. i think that's what's happening here. if donald trump wants to gain the support of young people he needs to do what he did this week talk about policies. a lot of time spent talking to donald trump on his policy. >> most of them bernie supporters, right? bernie had the young vote. and are they just saying, look, i'm just not going to voted for hillary at all or trump, i'm going to sleep in that morning in my dorm room. >> they may feel god for them to say that right now i'm not going to vote at all. when it comes down to it nice banter, entertaining to see all that back and forth. when it comes down to it

people clinton met or spoke with outside the government had given money to the clinton foundation. a total of $156 million. clinton has since said the a.p.'s analysis is flawed and that she met with people regardless of whether they gave money to her family's charity. as of right now though, we won't know the details of the second half of clinton's term at the state department until after the election. in january, after the a.p. filed a lawsuit against the state department, a u.s. district judge ordered the state department to begin releasing batches of clinton's detailed daily schedules from her time as secretary of state. and at the time the order was for the state department to release 600 pages a month, simply because the department said it didn't know how many pages were left. yesterday, the state department's attorneys told the associated press there are about 2700 pages left. meaning under the current schedule, we can expect to see those around december 30th. the a.p. has formally requested that process to be sped up so that voters can

have the information prior to the election. previously, u.s. district judge richard leon has expressed his own frustration over the state department seeming to try to run out the clock on releasing documents related to hillary clinton. at this point though, it's unclear if he will step in with a court order. pete, clayton, and son dra you got it? >> not garrett it's gar-ray. >> this september 30th wait to get access to these calendars. why are these calendars so important? as the a.p. has already shown us, the associated press already to this point after half of the calendars released showed they were able to g access to the state department to gain moaning money half of the calendar released half of those on the clinton calendar were donors to the clinton foundation which weigh learned through a.p. reports. get it out before the election. not impossible thing to do. >> believe it or not, people

period, actually black children. there are a lot of failing black schools. that's just the reality. the school choice program would open up more options to parents everywhere to give their kids an actual shot at achieving the american dream. and if democrats truly believe in that they would support school choice policy. >> we will put up statistics, a poll from education next that shows that african-americans would prefer whenever possible to have school vouchers by overwhelming numbers. 58 support having cool vouchers, 44% oppose. so if a black community wants the ability to send their kids to the best possible schools, which anyone would want, regardless of race, why do those politicians block? there is the poll right there 58% want school vouchers, the ability to go to a different school if your school is failing you. why is it that liberal politicians, like hillary clinton are so fixated on

what do you think she was trying to hide with these emails? >> well, it's what we're being told by the state department we had a benghazi email lawsuit for clinton emails about benghazi. we were told by the government they did a search of these undeleted emails by the fbi. the emails that the fbi recovered that mrs. clinton didn't want anyone to see. they did a search using these benghazi-related search terms and they came one hits. they said they they want to give them to us december -- september 30th. we asked how many talk about. set a hearing just to find out this basic information on tuesday. >> tom, i mean, judicial watch, you guys have been doing yeomen's work really digging to get the truth on these things. of the 33,000 deleted emails we are hearing that 15,000 are recovered. what, i mean you said benghazi has come up as a search term. how many would you expect -- is there any sense of how

deep this could go or how wide it could go. how many of these could be work related and how quickly will they be released? >> that's the question. they are going to begin to be released next month for sure go courts have ordered the release of records in september if they are responsive to two separate judicial watch lawsuits. one on behalf of someone else in florida who has a benghazi lawsuit and then we have a lawsuit huma abedin where she was working for the government and clinton foundation at the same time. an interesting job. but, also, the government has to come in and tell us on september 23rd when they're going to release all of these new clinton emails. and the courts have made it clear, they don't want stalling unnecessarily here. so the materials are going to begin to be released as soon as september 13th, if not soon displer tom, speaking of timing of all of this, we now know that this federal judge that ordered the state department to

release the batches of her schedules, who she met with while she was secretary of state, the associated press now saying it won't finish the job. the government told the associated press that they will not be releasing the last of her schedules before election day. what do you make of that? >> well, it's just more of the same from the state department. they have been slow rolling documents for mrs. clinton since the get-go. they let her take all these documents out. once they got them back, they didn't want to give them to anybody quickly. they had to be forced by the courts to do. so i know in one of our cases this big huma abedin case about the clinton foundation we will be getting documents from the state department through april of 2017. i will tell you, if the government wanted these documents to be released, they could have been released years ago. if we put people on the moon, we can release more than a few hundred pages a month out of one federal agency. it's obviously a political

elementary school by two men targeting someone else. so far no suspects in custody. the baby in the stroller was not hurt. wade tweeting out my cousin was killed today in chicago. another act of senseless gun violence. four kids lost their mom for no reason, unreal. #enough is enough. also new overnight, kansas city under water. a flash flood emergency declared as water levels went above car doors. it's the first flash flood emergency ever in the area. up to six inches of rain falling in just two hours in parts of the city. stranding cars. there were also at least 10 water rescues in just one county. and a roller coaster nearly toppling over as six terrified children are still trapped inside more than a dozen fair goers rushed to the scene to hold up the ride. a track malfunction is being blamed for the ride nearly falling over at the bartoe county fair in georgia. the ride has been torn down

and three others have been closed for repairs. thankfully, no one was hurt. those are your headlines this saturday morning. >> thank you, sandra. hillary clinton lucking out again thanks to the state department. it's just announcing that it won't complete the court ordered release of her personal calendar schedule until after election day, december 30th. >> interesting. a little late. garrett tenney has all the details from washington, d.c. good morning, garrett. >> pete, clayton, and sandra, good morning. the timing of this could not be better for the clinton campaign. it was just this week when we learned that the a.p. annualized the first half of hillary clinton's minute-by-minute schedule of her term as secretary of state has been released. more than half of the people she spoke with outside of the government were given money to the clinton foundation for a total of $156 million. that brought a whole new round of criticism for the clinton foundation and the appearance of a pay-to-play culture within the clinton

state department. clinton has argued the a.p.'s analysis is flawed and that she met with people regardless of whether or not they donated money to her family's charity. but, as things currently stand, we won't know until after the election if the second half of her daily minute-by-minute schedule either supports that idea or goes along with a lot of these criticisms. we have already seen. now, this whole saga over her schedules began back in 2010 and 2013 when the a.p. asked state to release them. that didn't happen until the a.p. filed a lawsuit with the state department in federal court. when that happened, the judge ordered them to start releasing the emails or the schedules rather in batches showing who she met with and spoke to during her tenure. yesterday, the state department attorneys told the associated press though, there were about 2700 pages left, meaning under the current schedule, we can expect to see those around december 30th, after the election has been wrapped up. now, the a.p. has formally

requested that that process be sped up so that voters have the information prior to the election. previously judge richard leon has expressed his own frustration over the state department seemingly to try to run out the clock on releasing documents related to hillary clinton. at this point it is unclear if he will step in with a court order requesting the state department or forcing them, rather to speed up this process and get them out before the election. >> convenient. garrett, great to see you this morning, thank you so much. >> thank you, garrett. >> we want to wring in national security staff under president obama and george w. bush julian turner. first, reaction to what we are hearing from garrett here not releasing these potential calendars until the end of the year after the election. normal protocol? >> i don't know. but it's unfortunate for the american voters. you want to have candidates running for president that are transparent and you know what you are getting when you sign up here. you are going to have to kind buy and question the purchase later if you are voting for secretary

clinton. >> should hillary clinton call for calendars to be released. >> that's an interesting idea. it would probably behoove her from optics perspective if nothing else. if there is nothing to hide, let's show folks what there is and be honest and open i would. >> overnight secretary of state john kerry claiming the u.s. has achieved clarity with russia. on our roles in the middle east. so, we are asking you why does this so very unclear. >> particularly, interesting choice. from my perspective, from lots of folks in the foreign policy community's perspective, because it's kind of th antithesis. noble effort to try to bring a semblance of order and peace to the sir i don't know people after five years of this horrendous civil war. so, what's happening though is that the united states and russia are looking to set up the security framework. they want to set up a joint command center in jordan with some shared

intelligence operations to try and coordinate the efforts in syria. the big problem as everybody knows is they can't agree on what the security targets are that's the first problem. the second problem is that the russians are not to be trusted as far as you can throw a stick in this country. >> bombing and supporting different targets. >> exactly. >> vladimir putin is trying to suspect plant america as the chief actor in the middle east. >> of course. there is a lot of that going on. there is a struggle for, here, a kind of, i guess, a post assad syria in the future. post assad syria in the future and what it looks like. who is going to have a hand in shaping that new nation? and russia, obviously, wants to be the guy on the ground. >> one of our big questions is the strategy. donald trump has been hitting the obama administration on strategy in that region for a long time. what is the strategy? what is the plan for stability in that region? do we know what it is? >> well, certainly, with this administration, what they are trying to do is come to what they are going to call a political diplomatic solution. so, you know, rather than send in tanks and guys with

guns, this are going to try to negotiate all of this. >> so isis is cool. >> kind of the first stage in that process. that's what they're hoping to do. >> julian, we had a chance to talk about this yesterday morning but this week we saw that the iranian confrontation with the u.s. destroyer and now this, that iran confrontations with u.s. navy ships are up 50% this year alone. what does it say about our relations with iran right now and the way that iran views america? >> it's not the first provocation by the iranians in the persian gulf this year. we are going to probably see more. in my opinion it's because there is no incentives. we provide them to not behave in that way. from my perspective, it goes back to the nuclear deal and the fact that there were no preconditions. we took the nuclear issue and decided to negotiate with them on it. out of the framework of everything else. we allowed them to continue their egregious human rights

the strategy group company is rex this morning. nice to see you this morning, rex. welcome to the show. >> thank you, clayton. it's good to be with you. >> so you are talking about a real shift, i think, in the way that we have seen political ads over the years. talking about character instead of judgment. is that the new normal for a campaign ads. >> i don't know if it's the new normal for campaign ads. appears to be the new normal for presidential campaign ads for the clinton campaign. you know, clearly, messages that take words and things out of context, you can see. i believe for an ad to be long lasting and beneficial, it needs to be the truth. it need to be believable and it needs to be credible. i'm not sure the ad you just saw passes that test. >> i have new ad, trump ad on clinton's super predator comments from 2004. i want to get your reaction on. this they are often the kind of kids that are called super predators no, conscience, no empathy. we can talk about why they ended up that way but first

strategies and do you think that hillary clinton's strategy of going after the character is actually going to work if we look at historical context here, how will that play out? first of all, people hearing these ads they are at the point they have heard enough. until donald trump is on the air at reasonable parody are we going to see the difference between the two messages in contrast with one another. so, at this point, you know, i think if we continue down this road, you may have a very low turnout because people are having to choose, i guess, between what they're seeing the lesser of two evils, that's really not what we want. it's, you know, somebody who is going to be positive in the future and future-oriented and as donald trump has called out and spoken for the people who feel like they haven't had a spokesman in washington. and they're angry at the political ruling class and we certainly know that

after the election. should she call for those calendars to be released before the election? >> first of all, clayton, i have been very frustrated for the last year or more by the inability of the republican party to focus on the real issues concerning hillary clinton. instead of being obsessed with the benghazi bologna and everything that circulated around it. >> it's not bologna. >> once the united states military said they could not intervene to save those people the rest was marginal at best. i'm telling you for them to obsess about that instead of investigating the clinton foundation, the clinton foundation was always as is obvious now, right for investigation. it is a -- this -- i mean i've been to some of those clinton foundation seminars at the hotels near our fox news world headquarters. the lavishness of the spending. the whole vibe that you get there is not one of doing good,

but rather, it's look at us. i thought that really it was the kind of thing where the inappropriate conduct could be found and i think they have found it in the -- i won't say quid pro quos but the associated press did a magnificent job in getting ahold of her public calendar and showing about 50% or more of her meetings were held with people who either individually or as corporation or as national agencies -- gave money to the foundation. >> [ inaudible ] the right hillary clinton scandal. that sounds like what you're saying. let's hear from somebody who was inside of the foundation right here. >> i feel fairly confident it is not in the top tier -- if you talk to development professionals it is not in the top tier. i have seen their work in haiti up close in person. there's some very good people who work there. but they are -- haiti is one of their singular focuses, a small

country. they have not had a major impact on haiti. more the performance of very public charity not the actual intervention. >> but it's not good. >> adam davidson contributing to the new yorker, attended the functions you talked about. not even is the money used to pay to play but not effective where it's being applied. >> we don't know if it's used quid pro quo, pay to play yet, that hasn't been established, but the appearance is there that you give money you can have a meeting with the secretary of state. i absolutely agree with everything he said. i mean, to me it did not seem -- i've seen charities working gritty. i was actually with secretary clinton in haiti after the earthquake there and i said to her, you know, this is a country where the government yap per rat tus is ripe with corruption how are you going to straighten this out, throw good money after bad, no, we have safe glguards in

place and all the rest of it. she was trying to duck me when grabbing her for that interview on the tarmac and i think the clinton foundation is a very, very vulnerable area for the clintons. to your question about whether they are intentionally dragging their feet. in their defense, there are thousands of freedom of information requests for this data, her calendar and so forth. the state department is doing democracy, certainly not the republican party, any favors in the pace, this ga lay shall pace, redacting names, checking for secrets in the -- of, you know, the scheduling and so forth. so i think that they will succeed in delaying the release of further calendar data until past the election. >> to tim kaine for a second. the internet is in an uproar about this. tim kaine acting as the attack dog, going after donald trump for these unsolicited

anti-hillary but would they make the switch to donald trump. almost every person i talked to, said no, they would not. so what about donald trump made you make that leap? >> the economy, jobs. we really need to rebuild the infrastructure and economy in this country and i'll give you an example of the difference between hillary and donald trump. west virginia, when she went through coal country she offered up -- apologized to the folks there and said she was going to come up with a plan to sort of send, you know, checks to them or something or give them some sort of handout and the people in coal country don't want a government check. they want their dignity back. they want jobs. and donald trump has pledged very clearly to rebuild the economy and infrastructure in this country. and that's priority number one. and that's why i'm supporting him. >> well, as we get you out of here on this, you think a lot

what happened that changed your view on the world? >> you know, i came to america in 1982 and i was a doctor in india. when i came here, i got into the american dream. my american dream became fancy cars, bigger house -- >> materialism. >> materialism. competing with my friends who has the biggest house, like i had a house, 10, 11, on a golf course and lake. so large we had to use iphones to talk to each other. >> you were living a version of the american dream and got sick. what happened? >> and i was having [ inaudible ]. what happened was i was diagnosed with prostate cancer in august of 2008. surgery went fine. and my prostate cancer was gone. but it left me with one complication which is

incontinence. after 2 1/2 years at ucla los angeles, a professor implanted a special device and unfortunately, that device got infected. i developed redness, swelling. >> emergency surgery. what happened while in surgery. we don't have a lot of time. >> emergency surgery, my consciousness left my body. about 20 minutes, i seen the clock in the operating room, i saw myself near the ceiling of the -- >> watching the surgery. >> i could smell the infected fluid and the nurse was applying oil to the masks so they don't smell. >> you traveled and saw heaven and hell and how do you know you experienced these things? >> i went and met my dead father. i know this because i experienced it. and my main thing is my life changed after that.

before this incident and the one who woke up were two different beings. >> you said you had an out of body almost experience in the eternal realm heaven and hell transformed to reject the material world and live a more selfless life. >> more selfless life, exactly. >> you said -- what proof do you know that you were able to identify clothing your grandmother was wearing? >> my mother and my sister, i saw them in india and about two or three days later, why are you talking like this. the main thing i remember, the joke, that they told in the operating room. >> folks who might have skepticism can read the book and judge themselves but the message of the book is anyone can transform their life. >> my main message is, you do not need to have a near-death experience to transform. transform, forgiveness love and healing. >> working for something higher or greater than yourself. >> that's the biggest.

plaguing the minority community is education. parents need the right to choose the schools their children can go to. >> some critics say he hasn't put forward the details on education policy. did he say anything further in that meeting that raised your confidence level that he knows what to do with the education system in this country? >> again, there's so many children and under performing schools in the country. some children based off where they're born where they live, already do fail the moment they enter the school system. and so no matter what takes place after that, they have a large perceiling. donald trump understands that. those of us in the african-american or minority communities understand that. we have to give power back into the hands of the parents so that their children can receive the best possible education they can in this country. right now, that's not taking
