delayed, that's why no one was hurt. a pipe bomb did go off in a plastic garbage can and they did recover several other devices. let's start in new york city where bryan has the very latest. hi, bryan. >> reporter: good afternoon, that is a big, big development you just reported, our rick leventhal hearing that the devices that went off in seaedside part yesterday morning is connected to the explosive devices put here, the one that went off last night on 23rd between 6th and 7th and the device that was found four blocks north on 27th between 6th and 7th. what we have to understand, we know they are looking at one of the devices that the suspicious device that found, that pressure cooker device at the artillery range, they are looking into that. to what extent are all three devices alike? were they all three pressure cooker type devices?
1:04 pm
we don't know. we were initially told the initial device in seaside park was a pipe bomb and also by the ocean county prosecutor's office that that device was connected to two other devices in the garbage can that could have gone off and made the blast larger than it was. we're talking about two active crime scenes here in manhattan and chelsea neighborhood connected to a third crime scene from yesterday's blast in seaside park new jersey at 9:30 a.m. that blast went off at 9:35 about, that race was delayed in its start because of long registration lines and it was a 5k charity race for marines, u.s. marines, thousands of them who traveled from all over the country and taking part in that charity run and the reason why they were not running past that garbage can was because that race started late because of those registration lines. here in new york city, the crime scene is active and they are continuing to look for surveillance video to gather evidence from the residences here.
1:05 pm
we're told that should last a couple more hours today. while the second device is being looked at in the bronx. mayor bill de blasio calling this an intentional act, not yet jumping to conclusions about motivations, listen to what andrew cuomo said earlier today about the potential of this being an attack. >> it depends on your definition of terrorism. a bomb exploding in new york is obviously an act of terrorism. but it's not linked to international terrorism. in other words, we find no isis connection, et cetera. >> reporter: governor andrew cuomo says new yorker should go about their daily lives but security like we've never seen before. more than 1,000 additional officers and guards out as a precaution. >> bryan, very, very fortunate that in both incidents, no one was killed of course. thanks so much. >> indeed, eric.

alleged radical islamic terrorist spree in minnesota. what are the similarities and what are investigators focused on? ted williams, fox news contributor joins us now. ted, let me start with the bombings in new york and new jersey, they believe they are from the same person. does that now give us a really potential motive considering the fact that the bombs in the morning at 9:30 in the morning targeted a charity run benefitting our marines and marines family? you may start with an anti-u.s. military motive that somehow was transposed later on in the evening to new york city? >> absolutely, it's a motive here. that is that there are individuals out there that want to harm and kill us. when you look at the new jersey bombing, i think what tied the new jersey bombing to the new york bombing is the black powder that they found in the pipe bomb or in the pipe bomb in new
