president. now this program note. tune to fox news all day tomorrow for special coverage of the first presidential debate, the battle at hofstra. that's it for today. have a great week, see you next fox news sunday. erything that h all your favorite guests tomorrow night. see you at 9:00. ♪ welcome to hannity. less than 24 hours away from what might be the deciding factor of 2016, the first presidential debate. we are broadcasting from hofstra university. we will be joined by newt gingrich, laura ingram, sheriff david clark. i have debate thoughts to share with you. over the course of his campaign donald trump has given many significant foreign and domestic policy speeches.
12:01 am
based on campaign hillary clinton is running it is clear she cannot run on the obama economy. she can't run on libya, egypt, iran, afghanistan, syria. she can't really run on the russian reset with vladimir putin, china or north korea. hillary clinton also cannot run on honesty and trust worthiness. that means the clinton campaign can only resort to pushing one thing. they are going to try to advance the narrative that donald trump does not have the temperament to be president as if she does. late last week it was reported hillary clinton invited mark cube toon attend tomorrow night debate. as many news outlets reported in 2014 mark cuban made this shocking remark when asked about controversial racial comments made by donald spurling. >> we are all prejudice in one way or the other. if i see a black kid in a hoodie
12:02 am
and it is late at night i'm walking to the other side of the street. if on that side of the street there a guy that has tattoos all over his face, white guy, bald head, tattoos everywhere, i'm walking back to the other side of the street and the list goes on of stereotypes that we all live up to and are fearful of. >> cuban later apologized to trayvon martin's family for those remarks but also stood by those comments. hillary clint clintons have called the late senator hillary herself. she said robert burg was her mentor and was former member of the kkk. the clinton campaign is trying to get the media to do all of her dirty work let's take a walk
12:03 am
down memory lane. >> the laws and regulations in effect when i was secretary of state allowed me to use my e-mail for work. that is undisputed. it clearly wasn't the best choice and i take responsibility for that decision. i thought it would be easier to carry just one device for my work and for my personal e-mails instead of two. >> iphone or android? >> iphone. >> in full disclosure, blackberry. >> i have an ipad mini iphone and blackberry. >> i believe i have met all of my responsibilities and the server will remain private in order to be as cooperative as
12:04 am
possible. we have turned over the server. they can do whatever they want to with the server to figure out what is there and what is not there. >> there is a lot more. remember during the benghazi terrorist attack that left four americans dead in 2012 clinton e-mailed her daughter hours after the attack and wrote two officers were killed by an al qaeda-like group, ambassador whom i hand picked and a young communications officer. very hard day and i fear more of the same. clinton knew the truth but she told you the american people this lie. >> this has been a difficult week for the state department and for our country. we have seen the heavy assault on our post in benghazi that took the lives of those brave men. we have seen rage and violence directed at american embassies
12:05 am
over an awful internet video that we had nothing to do with. it is hard for the american people to make sense of that because it is senseless. >> she told her daughter one thing. the libyan president one thing, the egyptian prime minister the same thing, but you, the american people, something very different. tomorrow night clinton is going to try to do her very best she can do to aggravate, agitate, irritate, upset, get under donald trump's skin. my advice to donald trump, don't take the bait and maybe you can say hillary there you go again. joining us now is fox news contributor newt gingrich. good to see you. >> you have quite a crowd there. >> we do. i went to scol right down the block from here. this is family for me.
12:06 am
let me start -- that is hofstra university. let me start with mark cuban. i think this is really interesting. mark cuban saying i know i'm prejudice, i know i'm bigoted. if i see a black kid in a hoodie on my side of the street i will move to the other side of the street. he also said i stand by my words and substance after saying that. hillary, according to cuban invited him to be in the front row. should hillary -- should she disinvite him? imagine if donald trump invited him. >> imagine the "new york times" if donald trump had invited somebody who said those exact same words. the shake, the anguish, the embarrassment, the demand.
12:07 am
if mark cuban is there you will have as perfect an example of the double standard liberal media. the comments he made in the current context should be totally unacceptable. and yet my guess is that not a single liberal publication will notice them. >> you know, that is interesting. if donald trump invited someone with that track record who said my mentor was a former clansman who invited a guy who admits he is a bigot and will walk on the other side of the street if an african-american kid in a hoodie was walking on that side. do you think the trump campaign should demand he be disinvited? >> i think they should certainly highlight the clear hypocrisy of hillary clinton and the media who are so delicate as long as
12:08 am
it is a conservative but who can ignore anything if it is a liberal. i think people ought to ask cuban does he really still stand boy what he said or will he concede that it was really wrong and sent the wrong signal? >> he definitely doubled down on it. hillary and her campaign are looking for support from lester holt tomorrow and want they lester holt to do hillary clinton's job in terms of debating for her, donald trump. what is your reaction to that? they seemed a little desperate. >> i have never seen a campaign so publically indicate that they don't have faith in their own candidate. they don't think hillary can stand up to trump. they don't think she can correct him if she is wrong. they want lester to be their partner. they are desperate to create a two-on-one situation where lester and hillary are on one side and donald is on the other. i don't think holt is dumb
12:09 am
enough to do it. i think that it just tells you that the clinton people are very anxiety ridden. they watch the polls go down week after week. they are now frankly fighting to survive. this is her first big test. and in the past she hasn't done very well with big tests. i am like you in that i'm really looking forward to this debate as one of the things that the rest of your life -- >> you may have 100 million people watching this. let me ask if you agree with this thing. she said she is going to advance obama's economy. she can't run on foreign policy. she can't run on honesty and trust worthiness. do you agree that she is going to spend a lot of time tomorrow night trying to aggravate donald
12:10 am
trump? is that the strategy they have adopted? >> certainly everything said publically would indicate that that is going to be their desire. i think that is a big mistake on their part. i have watched trump very closely. and trump's actual strength is of counter puncher. if she went in there and handled him very delicately and was very respectful and we got a very boring debate that he would go along. he is going to modulate and operate at the level she sets. but if she really wants a bar room brawl with donald trump this would be an insane misjudgment. >> i agree. trump has been very clear about it. >> let me ask this. hillary and her campaign i think they were trying to work the
12:11 am
rest. she is like the number one lying politician in the history of washington, d.c. i'll give an example here but i guess the longer question out of tray goudy questioning james comby about lies is how is donald trump delicately say to the former secretary of state she is a liar? watch this. >> secretary clinton said there was nothing marked classified on her e-mails sent or received. >> there were a small number of portion markings on three documents. >> secretary clinton said i did not e-mail classified material to anybody on e-mail. was that true? >> there was classified material e-mailed. >> she said she used just one device. was that true? >> she used multiple devices during the four years of her term as secretary of state. >> secretary clinton said all work related e-mails were returned to the state department. was that true?
12:12 am
>> no. we found work-related e-mails, thousands that were not returned. >> secretary clinton said her lawyers read everyone of the e-mails and were overly inclusive. did her lawyers read the e-mail content individually? >> no. >> so my question, hillary has made honesty and lying an issue now going into this debate. if you are donald trump how do you point out she lied about benghazi, lied about her e-mail server and a lot of other issues? >> i think his greatest strategy would be to be respectful and slightly lower key than people expect. so i think, for example, if he says, you know, that is simply not true as opposed to you are a liar. if he says how can you possibly say that given what the director of the fbi has already said? i think he wants to be pulling her out rather than attacking
12:13 am
her and where possible he wants to be making fun of her. just to say for example nothing the director of the fbi has said agrees with what you just said. how do you explain that? i think that kind of keeping her on defense. >> you are a lot nicer than me. i think i would be more blunt. >> i want to be effective. i think you don't want trump to be the issue. you want hillary to be the issue because she is a liar. >> well said. look, you went after people in debates. that is mickey mouse what you are asking me. stay right there. we will have more w newt gingrich after this break. coming up next tonight -- >> it's unfair to ask for hillary votes to play traffic cop with trump and make sure his lies are corrected. >> he is a respected brilliant
12:14 am
news man. he will do a good job tomorrow night. >> i think hillary's lies should be called out. both campaigns weigh in. newt gingrich will be back with reaction. we will check in with laura ingram. that and more as we continue from hofstra university in long island new york. tired of re-dosing antacids? try duo fusion!

it's two in one heartburn relief. the antacid goes to work in seconds... and the acid reducer lasts up to 12 hours in one chewable tablet. try duo fusion. from the makers of zantac.
12:16 am
12:17 am
welcome back. so with the first presidential debate less than 24 hours away the trump and clinton campaign hit the morning shows to preview the main event. let's take a look. >> it is unfair to ask for hillary to play traffic cop with trump and make sure his lies are corrected and to present her vision. >> isn't that what debaters are supposed to do? >> i think donald trump is special. we haven't seen anything like this. >> i don't appreciate campaigns thinking it is the job of the media to go and be the virtual fact checkers and the debate moderators should do their
12:18 am
bidding. they picked on matt laur. lester holt is a respected, brilliant news man. he will do a good job tomorrow night. >> as we continue former speaker of the house newt gingrich. let me quote jim lair who said i don't think the fact checking is the function of the moderator. he did the first presidential debate for the general election campaign all the way from 1988 to 2012. is it like whining before the debate begins? >> did you ever think you would end up with clips where it is the democrats begging for the news media to protect their candidate and it is the republicans going we trust lester holt. it's going to be fine. this is the opposite. it is because hillary is so weak and so incapable of moving at
12:19 am
donald trump speed that they are just desperate. their campaign tonight must be very anxiety ridden whereas i suspect donald trump is very comfortable. he knows what he is going to do and how to do it. >> whining that she wanted a step stool at one point. there coughing break. last week she did this interview where to me it was really bizarre, the tone, the pitch, the cadence was so off that one has to wonder if the health issues are far more severe than they are telling us. i want you to watch and listen to this. >> let's do everything we can to make sure we've got quality affordable health care for everybody. we are going to improve the
12:20 am
affordable care act. we are going to do what we can to make it work better and that includes calling on congress to repeal the cadillac tax and to ring in prescription drug costs. i will defend every worker's right to organize and bargain collectively. and i will fight back against so-called right to work. right to work is wrong for workers and wrong for america. having said all of this, why aren't i 50 points ahead you might ask? well, the choice for working families has never been clearer. >> now, as you answer that, do you see what i see? and it was this other incident where she is twitching uncontrollably. why are you looking at me like that? this seems to be -- what? >> john, you want to go -- this
12:21 am
is a person who is nuts. how could you stand there as a presidential candidate and go why aren't i 50 points ahead? well, someone in the audience could yell because you are a liar. because you are corrupt. because you look like you are angry all the time. i have had two different interpretations. >> watch this twitching that she does, one, four, five six and does it again. boom, boom, boom. if you listen to her voice, doesn't it sound beizarre to yo? add that to her collapse and other health issues she has had. what do you think is going on here? >> i don't know. think if i had a different kind of voice that you would be worried about me a whole lot. i am asking because it does strike me that sometimes she seems very harsh.
12:22 am
i just want to put that out there. just a way of thinking about it. what i'm struck with -- somebody wrote me a note that i thought was very interesting that said she is joyless. if you watch her, there is no sense of happiness. there is no sense of enthusiasm. there is no sense of liking life. she is going through the motions. she is doing whatever she learned to be the valedictorian. it ain't fun. what you know of donald trump is he is having fun. >> would she be relieved if she lost? is that what you are saying? >> i think she might be relieved if she got an invitation to go on a trip up the amazon. i think this has got to be very, very painful for her. she can't get out of it. she spent her whole life getting to here. she put up with bill clinton for over 20 years to get to here.
12:23 am
she paid her dues. we owe it. we owe it to her to make her president. and we are not responding appropriately. and she doesn't know what to do. >> donald trump is up in iowa. he is up now in colorado. he is up in nevada. he is up in florida. he is up in ohio and within two points in pennsylvania, three points michigan and wisconsin. that is not good for her coming into this debate tomorrow. good to see you. >> i'm really looking forward to tomorrow night and to being with you afterwards. >> i can't wait to get your analysis tomorrow night. thanks, mr. speaker. we'll see you tomorrow night. coming up next tonight right here. >> i'm running to be the voice of the forgotten men and women of this country. >> and donald trump continued to pound the campaign trail this weekend ahead of tomorrow night's big debatism laura
12:24 am
ingram will join us and later tonight sheriff david clarke and much more as we continue from hofstra university. we will continue.
12:25 am
12:26 am
i'm running to be the voice of the forgotten men and women of this country. my opponent likes to say that for decades she has been fighting for women, that she has been fighting for children. why, then, are 70 million american women and children living in poverty or in the brink of poverty in our country? why has she provided no relief for the millions of americans in search of affordable, reliable quality child care? for years she has been doing
12:27 am
this and she has done nothing. you know the old saying, watch what i do, not what i say. >> donald trump yesterday going after hillary clinton's record. joining us now fox news contributor laura ingram. let's get your general thoughts about tomorrow night's debate and whining and crying and please lester help save us. >> i think this is a moment for trump to reassure the public, those in the middle who are still not quite sure about him, not sure if he is trust worthy to have his finger on the button and just allay the concerns of women who want to vote republican but are not quite there and also more independent. for hillary it's her time to stand and look like she has some type of new way forward, new from obama, different from what
12:28 am
we saw in the last eight years which obviously had not worked. it's a harder road for her. conventional wisdom is that it is harder for trump. i think it is harder for hillary. we know hillary. we have been witness to what hillary has done. i think trump is right. she doesn't have a lot to show for it. trump has to reassure people and come prepared and ready to reassure america. >> i agree with that. i think she is going to try to aggravate and agitate him. donald trump is smart. he is not going to dissolve like alkaseltzer and water. she has a higher bar. she says she will continue obama's policies. we have 12 million more americans on food stamps. 8 million more in poverty. we have the lowest labor participation rate. the lowest homeownership rate. obama has accumulated more debt than any other president before
12:29 am
him. how do you defend that? how do you defend libya, benghazi, afghanistan? >> i think you hit the nail on the head. she is not trying to defend him. her entire campaign is based on the following. her campaign is based on donald trump is untrust worthy and crazy. he has a temperament not suited to the presidency. you just can't pull the lever for him. that is her whole campaign. she is not really trying to defend her record. she says i sat in the situation room and travelled all over the world and i know these people. she might be able to beat him on the pop quiz tomorrow night. she might be able to beat him on that. he says i might not know the pop quiz but i'm going to know what to do when push comes to shove. when we needed her in the situation room the night of benghazi she wasn't there. if he speaks in those terms. >> she was there.
12:30 am
that night she was asking a very important question. she had our military men and women change their uniforms four times but she never sent them in to help those americans under fire. she was there. she made the wrong decision. >> was she in the situation room? i don't think she was that night. >> she was highest ranking official in the meeting. >> we all know that night ended really badly and she lied about it and allowed a lie to go forward to cover up what was u.s. government lack of effort and lack of action. in the end if trump comes across as reassuring and calm and pragmatic and smart then he wins this. he doesn't have to know who the defense secretary of albania is. that doesn't matter. if he comes across as someone saying you can trust me, i'm going to pair back this government. it is way too big and out of
12:31 am
control. i will chart a new path forward. i'm on your side. >> that is great advice. >> let me add one other thing to that. this is as big a choice election as we have seen in our lifetime. i would not hesitate if i was trump to point out do you want a president that can identify our enemy? do you want a president that will vet refugees and protect our borders? do you want a president that will put originalests on the supreme court? do you want a president that will repeal obama care and make us energy independent and give education back to the states? those are big, big distinctions. >> you are hitting it. the issue of safety and the issue of home. home and safety, happiness. those are great words and they are great sentiments especially for women. i can say this as a woman voter. safety, home and happiness. we fight all the time in washington. we have arguments. we fight. people want to hav
12:32 am
time to have happiness. life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. we also want to have a sense that we are safe at home. america as she is going to be a country that is protected and with a president to put our interests first. if trump hits those things home, safety, happiness which encompasses prosperity i think those are big for women voters regardless of what you think about a lot of social issues. those are important things for women voters i think. >> i think you hit every note. i hope he is watching tonight. good to see you. coming up next tonight we continue with this. donald trump continues to reach out to african-american voters on the campaign trail. when we come back sheriff david clarke joins us with reaction. we will be live with a special

african-americans have given so much to our nation and sacrificed so much for this nation, many african-americans are succeeding so greatly and i will make sure their success is protected and supported. at the same time too many african-americans have been left behind and trapped in poverty. i will fight to make sure every single african-american child in this country is fully included in the american dream. >> donald trump on the campaign trail yesterday continuing his
12:39 am
outreach to african-american voters. here with reaction we have milwaukee county sheriff david clarke and larry elder. appreciate you being here. say hi to david clarke. [ applause ] he has made outreach to the black community a top priority. it seems to be showing dividends in the polls. >> cornerstone of his campaign. he appealed to the black community like no other gop candidate in the last 50 years. i'm tired of black people living life at the bottom. schools have gotten worse. the unemployment numbers have gotten higher. the crime has gotten worse all under democrat control. i'm encouraging blacks. you have two choices. i'm encouraging their vote. vote donald trump, give him a chance or stay home.
12:40 am
if that happens this race is over. >> she does not seem to motivate people. she has no charisma like barack obama. i think our minds work the same way. 58% increase. black americans since obama has been president. out of the labor force blacks disproportionately negatively impacted by his policies that she wants to continue. why would you vote for more of that? >> that's a great question. you are absolutely right. in order for hillary to win this debate she has to get under donald trump's skin and characterize him as some sort of lunatic she is going to drop the allegation that he is sexist and he mocked a handicapped reporter and that he is racist. ten ways to respond. he ought to respond and talk
12:41 am
about the economy. under this president net worth is down. black homeownership is down. black poverty is up. so-called wealth gap hasn't been this wide in 25 years. he will talk about how laws like minimum wage has damaged prospects for teenaged black people. vice president joe biden's economist says $15 minimum wage is too high. there is a movie called "car wash" where all people working at a car wash were all black. those jobs are taken by illegal aliens. talk about school choice. the democratic party will not let a black parent take their child out of a bad under performing school and send them to a better school. >> these statistics are real people, real lives, needless suffering, failed government.
12:42 am
sheriff clarke. it seems the democratic party takes black americans for granted. they want the vote. show me where the results are. >> after the election they tell them to get back into the basement until mid term elections. exploitation of black people has got to stop. they have been lied to for 50 or 60 years since the war on poverty nothing has gotten better for black communities. i think it is high time. i think what a unique opportunity that donald trump stepped in. who would have guessed it. i think it has been effective. black people in the community are listening. if they are listening there is a chance. >> polls show it again. >> there is a marvelous youtube
12:43 am
video with malcolm x chastising black people for voting 80% for the democratic party and not getting a civil rights bill. what would he say about black people voting 95% for a man when number one reason blacks voted for him was because they thought he would improve the economy? he has failed and called black people political trump for doing the same thing again. the primary reason obama was put there by black people was because of the economy. he has not delivered. don't bow a political chump. >> good to see you both. thank you. coming up, donald trump, hillary clinton getting ready to square off tomorrow night in the first presidential debate right here hofstra university as new polls show donald trump is beginning to serve. with us as we continue from long island.

presidential debate tomorrow night new polls show the race is extremely close and the latest national poll trump and clinton are virtually tied. among registered voters the race is tied at 41-41. here with reaction, fox news senior correspondent geraldo rivera. it is worse than that in this sense, trump up in iowa, trump up in north carolina, winning florida. he is winning ohio. >> you have forgotten pennsylvania. >> two-point raise. wisconsin and michigan three points. this is not good when you look state by state. >> i have always given you no spin, the truth. this is bad. this is a tight race. >> this is good for the country. >> bad for hillary. the movement in the swing states all to donald trump. the national polls to donald. if he is able to be presidential

and not take the bait tomorrow night he will at the very least get a slight bump. >> just doing that. just not taking her right. secretary clinton has got huge, huge challenge, sean of taking him out and taking him down wo the kind of attacks that larry elder was talking about. will it work? i don't think so. but that's the game. >> geraldo? >> i think that donald trump, who i've known forever, my sister irene taught here, he's got to be a movie star. he can't lose that, that charismatic confidence that got him here. if he goes all wonky. >> he's not going to go wonky. >> but he can't be boring. he can't give us that monotone that he sometimes -- >> he couldn't be boring in his sleep, geraldo. let's be honest here. >> she's going to be cutting, going after him, provoking him.
12:51 am
>> but she's going to come across as mean and nonsub stantsive. >> i don't think she's going to be mean, she's going to say things that are very provocative. >> he's a counterpuncher. >> he'll hit back. >> tomorrow is a huge opportunity for donald trump because you look at over 100 million people that are estimated to be watching. hillary clinton has been killing him on tv in battleground states. this is the massive opportunity for donald trump to reach voters who maybe haven't heard from him as much. >> those ads aren't working, are they? >> this is a good opportunity for him to reach those voters. donald trump is the one controlling the narrative. i know we'll see that tomorrow night if he stays on message, being able to control the narrative and put hillary clinton on the defense. you look at the country right now, cbs news had a poll of the battleground states and 50% of the voters want big change. you look at polls from quinnipiac. >> he's the candidate of change.
12:52 am
>> he's the change candidate. >> he has to come back from change and corruption in the same way that hillary needs a vision, an agenda and some idea where she's going to take the country. >> while with that is all true, there are vulnerabilities in both candidates. if she goes after him, his business acumen and she says, what about these bankruptcies, what about these people who allege that you cheated them out of this or that, he's got to respond confidently, factually and then put her on defense with the crooked hillary, but he will have his hands full as bernie sanders did. people were shocked that the charismatic socialist was really battled to a draw by hillary. >> i thought he did much better in the debates against her. you keep looking at these videos, and she does not look well. in my opinion. there's something wrong with her tone, her pitch, her cadence. >> it's important for donald trump to not pretend he's a

politician. that's what people like about him. they like that he's the outsider candidate. yes, he should have some understanding of the issues, but he shouldn't try to be her. he shouldn't try to be the politician. >> he shouldn't go out of his way to be somebody he's not. he doesn't have to be wonkish as geraldo said. >> if she does try to do some sort of pop quiz scenario with him, all he has to say is i'm not a politician. >> like you. >> i'm a builder and i change things. that's what i'm here to do. >> she asks him what nato stands for, the nuclear triad, who is the prime minister of iran. >> that's tough for her because it makes her look like she's an inside washington politician. >> i agree with you. >> if i were her, stay even, talk about her issues and themes and make -- >> i have a question. if she has a coughing fit, does donald trump walk over and say, would you like some water? >> no, same thing he does.
12:54 am
>> rick lazio tried that. >> i know. >> even he's -- [ coughing ] >> she's got to be human also. she can't be just -- >> geraldo, listen to what you just said. she's got to be human. geraldo. >> also, i can say i worked for a male candidate and running for female candidates. there's a double standard that he needs to hit her hard but be careful in the way he does it.
