>> absolutely long. >> so, capri, i will start with you. did you hear enough specifics? >> well, as a self-proclaimed policy wonk you never hear enough specifics. i think neither of the candidates in my opinion had a breakout performance. what we saw was essentially 90 minutes of each candidate presenting what they've been presenting at their individual rallies, but on the same stage. so, you know, as i said yesterday, i think that one of the things that we really did need to see from mr. trump was, you know, putting some meat on the bone to his policy proposals. we did -- certainly did not see that from mr. trump. but, you know, on the flip side i don't think that secretary clinton provided, you know, a lot of -- a deep dive when it came to the specificity for her policies, certainly in comparison to what mr. trump provided it obviously was much more extensive, but, you know, the american public needs to get

as much information as possible. yes, it is only 90 minutes and a lot of this is theater and show, but ultimately we have to make a decision, at least in my humble opinion, based upon the policies that these two individuals would implement along with congress should they be elected. >> all right. so, david, what do you think? enough specifics from hillary clinton versus donald trump or either one? >> both were specific in what they talked about and showed a command on the issues with ultimately trump be the winner of that. the most critical point of any debate, particularly last night, was the first 30 minutes when people are really tune willed in. those were donald trump's best minutes. those were when he made a very forceful case for his economic policies, whereas, hillary clinton certainly kept her base fired up with many of her attacks on donald trump but they've spent $200 million attacking donald trump with those messages and what has happened? trump has actually consolidated

president obama. who made the best case? >> joining us against, morgan or tag yas, thank you for joining us. >> thanks for having us. >> which did the better job of differentiating themselves? >> i think they both lacked specifics on what they would do against isis in the middle east. however, i think trump clearly conveyed a different tone and temperament from what we've seen from president obama over the past eight years. as i said yesterday, this is a different job for hillary clinton because she can't run te helped create. i think some of trump's toughest lines against her were the ones in which he talked about some of her failed policies in iraq, syria and libya. these are lines that are quite damning against her and the administration. i think overall what we need to hear in the next two debates are more specifics from both of them on what their plan is for isis. we know from hillary clinton she has said in previous debates no new troops on the ground in iraq, afghanistan or syria, and

trump said he has a plan he is not sharing because he doesn't want to give it to the enemy. i understand the logic there. i think at a minimum the american people need to know are you going to send my sons and daughters to the middle east again, and if so what's the strategy to defeat isis. the problem is when you say you're not going to send troops to iraq and syria, when hillary clinton says this, it begs the question what are you doing different than president obama is doing now and i didn't hear an answer. >> did she defend herself -- she knew donald trump was going to come after her on these points, that you were a member of the obama administration. was she able to defend herself well enough? >> that is the toughest response for her to come back to. i think that was part of the night that i felt was strongest for trump, when he talked about the $6 trillion we spent in the middle east. it is hard to come back because it is her record, because these failed foreign policy actions in syria, iraq and libya with withdrawing the troops, that's her record. if she is going to deflect the

hard punch she has to say how her plans are different from what she pursued with her first four years with the obama administration. >> she also spent time on the iran nuclear deal which was discusses add well. >> i pushed for sanctions against iran and getting middle eastern governments to work with us on that. i think as we saw we have seen iran not abide by the plan. again, i thought it was a good moment for donald trump to go after her on helping -- begin the negotiations on that agreement. however, i think in the next two debates he needs to be more specific about how he would implement the agreement. she actually kind of shied away from the plan last night. i think she knows it is not a winner with a lot of the american people. they're very doubtful about iran getting away from this. she shied away from taking credit for the iran plan. >> 4:46 in the morning. did you get any sleep? >> a little sleep. >> highly articulate for 4:46 in
