she was substantive, comfortable, she laughed a few times which is not something you always see her do. we felt it was a good performance for her. on the tax issue, i was surprised how donald trump handled it. he said my lawyers said don't release my tax returns. it sounded like he has something to hide and he has gotten in trouble. i thought it was a huge mistake in the debate last night, and i think he was a little bit of a rookie last night, we'll see how it goes in the next two debates. okay, talking about money, who laid out the better plan for taxes and jobs? we'll break it down with charles payne. >> i call it trumped up trickle down. that's now how we grow the economy.

so, who won last night's presidential debate? we want to break down some of the numbers from one of the most unusual political show downs in u.s. history. trace is checking into all of it for us. >> when it comes to who won or lost, opinions are subjective, but it is fascinating to look at the social media trend that gives you a realtime barometer. donald trump had 62% of the conversation compared to hillary clinton's 38%. the top three tweeted moments is saying he has a good temperament, stop and frisk, and trump versus clinton on twitter.

wake of the experience that matt lauer had with donald trump, they would not continue to talk about the iraqi war position without drilling down on the subject. the fact checking seemed to only go in one direction. hillary clinton said the reason we had a financial crisis is because we had tax cuts for the wealthy, but lester holt wasn't there saying do you really believe it's because we cut taxes on the wealthy and that caused the financial crisis? >> so there are endless analysis. there are some polls that will give us an indication of how the debate did or didn't impact how voters feel out there. there was missed opportunities? ways to do things differently? >> absolutely. i think that for when you're analyzing who wins and loses

debates, in this case i would say this is a debate that donald trump lost more than hillary won. she played it very safe. she was very careful in her approach, and she was going through a born litany of policy proposals. i think he could have taken many opportunities to slam hillary clinton. i think particularly on cyber security question where he could have gone after her for a number of questions she. and i think the lesson he needs to take from it is the one he seems to be taking from today. he ought to be more aggressive and hit her harder in the future. >> we shall, great to see you always, thank you for being with us. >> donald trump giving hillary clinton a c plus for last night's performance saying she wasn't the toughest person he has faced in a debate. >> i think ted cruz was tough. i think that marco was actually

a vermont man who spent a week lost at sea is back on dry land. 22-year-old nathan carmen was rescued from a life raft by a passing fralter. he and his mother set off on a fishing trip nine days ago and their boat sank. his mother has not been found. for now she's presumed dead. we're learning new information about a man accused of carrying out a shooting spree that injured nine people yesterday. law enforcement sources say the suspect was wearing a nazi uniform when he was killed during a confrontation with police. more nazi paraphernalia was reportedly found in his home.

three of the nine victims of the shooting have been released from the hospital. one is still in critical condition. protesters in charlotte, north carolina, demanding the mayor and the police chief resign over the shooting death of keith lamont scott. more than 100 protesters jammed into city council chambers demonstrate frustrations with police. both the mayor and police chief have faced criticism. police say scott was armed when he was shot. his family is disputing the claim. a deadly explosion caused the death of a firefighter. the blast shook the whole neighborhood injuring six people. police say the home was under investigation as a possible drug factory. fire battalion chief michael
