11:00 am
we're back tomorrow, "america's election headquarters" starts now. hillary clinton campaigning in florida, a battleground state that she and trump need to win. hello, everyone, i'm melissa francis. she is set to appear at miami-dade college at 3:00 p.m. eastern and she will be joined by a familiar name. a throw back to the bill clinton era. al gore making his first campaign appearance. today's stop for clinton comes as she tries to build on recent
11:01 am
momentum in the swing state. we're going to have more on that coming up later in the show. we have fox team coverage, carl cameron is standing by, let's first go to jennifer griffin. >> it certainly is a throw back. hillary clinton will introduce al gore, and he will speak about climate change which is so important to mill len yams. that is why they're having it here at miami. gore is a virtual rock star on college campuses because of his 2005 documentary on global warming, an inconvenient truth. he will also make the point that have vote for a third party candidate could lead to an unintended consequence as it did
11:02 am
in the 2000 election. many of these students don't know who ralph nader, but al gore blamed him for costing him the presidency. gore lost the election. back in 2000, so they choose this for all of the reasons and how they can affect the election. >> al gore and the clintons have a history of frosty relations overtime. >> remember that al gore refused to endorse hillary in the primary against bernie sanders and he was a no show at the democratic convention. he was a very late endorser of
11:03 am
hillary clinton. that all indicates the level of frosty relations. her campaign chairman, john podesta arranged this one event. hillary clinton called into a radio show before leaving new york and here is what she said. >> florida is the key. if we win florida, there is no way my opponent can win. despite all of the terrible things he has said and done he is still trying to win this election and we cannot be complacent, we cannot rest. >> today is the 41st anniversary of bill and hillary clinton's wedding. bill clinton is campaigning elsewhere in florida. >> there is a lot in that, thank
11:04 am
you for that. donald trump fundraciising. trump tweeting "despite winning the second debate in a land pslide [ eveit is hard when people like paul ryan will not give you support. >> some factions of it sure are. not just the gores, the clintons, are campaigning here. it is the last day to register to vote. trump mentioned it by retweeting his son today for the first time. if folks want to weigh in, today
11:05 am
is the time to go get that done. in terms of organization, that is incredibly important part of what the campaigns want to do. you mentioned that donald had a tweet torrent this morning. he has many attacks on hillary clinton and paul ryan. and one of his tweets was particularly interesting and spoke to that point. he basically said she glad to have his shackles off so now he can campaign the way he wants to. generally speaking, people have taken that to mean he can be completely as wild and as aggressive as he wants to be and doesn't have to worry about being politically correct, correct, or political. he can say whatever he wants to. it takes on hillary clinton that says she was a failed secretary of state. in the add you see a whole series of international hot
11:06 am
spots and then from that ad, it says that hillary clinton doesn't have the fortitude. what you see is pictures of her when she had her concussion in 2015 with the black glasses, and wobbly with her recent doubt of pneumonia. to trump is putting on an add that essentially attacks her health. a blast from the past today, former vice president al gore will join hillary in florida in less than an hour. many of the people they are speaking to are too young to hem hit time in office. he was in the u.s. congress, a senator, he ran in 1988, and then in 1992 bill clinton chose
11:07 am
him as a running mate. and then he was eight years as vice president, and in 2000, we very narrowly lost. he has won prices for his work on global warming since then. we have larry o connor, but simon, i will start with you. florida is bitter ground for al gore. we mention he lost here by just 537 votes. the recount took five weeks. there was litigation, and he blamed it on ralph nader.
11:08 am
yeah, i think is good that the clinton campaign is doing this for many, many reasons. you covered many of them and this is a complicated story. they're going to tell two stories today, throwing away your vote for a third candidate, we went through this as a country in 2000 and as a democratic party. many of the things he worked on, the digital economy, climate change, those are things happening now and he was very involved in helping construct and build the modern world. and how when he was in office, we had robust economic growth, i think they will be making the economic case as well for the democratic ticket. >> larry, the challenge with that is that if they're looking at going after the millennials, the problem with hillary clinton and the millennials is that she
11:09 am
doesn't seem genuine. so how does al gore adecreadrest hold establishment and retread all of that. >> enabling the digital economy, is that inventing the internet? that is the first time i have heard that one. to me this shows they not partying in hillary headquarters at way we saw on "saturday night live." if they're concerned about millennials going third party they think it will be a close election and that florida will be close. i find it just a little distasteful that it is just a few days after a hurricane hit florida. superintendent a little
11:10 am
politically gross to be going down there and making that case right after the hurricane hits a state? i don't like it and i don't think floridans will like it. >> there are people throughout that believe in that theory, right. a lot of them believe the beaches are disappearing -- >> i'm talking specifically about hurricanes -- >> i don't know that we're going to solve this debate on this show right now, but certainly i think that if you -- i spent time in south florida, i worked in political campaigns down there. it is one of the most important issues. larry is often correct and smart and right, but not on this one. you have. >> let's go to the other side of the ballot. john mccain says not only is he not endorsing donald trump, he
11:11 am
is not voting for either major candidate. listen to this. >> when mr. trump attacks women and demeans the women in our nation and our society, that is a point where i just have to part company. it is not pleasant for me to renounce the nominee of my party, he won the nomination fair and square, but i have daughters, i have friends. i have so many wonderful people on my staff. they cannot be degraded and demeaned in that fashion. >> the other side of this argument would say neither of the human beings are particularly decent. we have seen a lot of bad stuff about the candidates on the ballot. i'm sort of ashamed of both of them. at the end of the day maybe you have to look to your issues and make a choice on that if you care about the economy and growth, maybe that is one candidate. if you're focused on the
11:12 am
environment, maybe that's another candidate, what do you make of that argument? >> i think a lot of american people are at. as a long suffering republican i'm used to this behavior by john mccain. in the primary before he ran to the right of donald trump. he promised to build a wall and then six months later he was standing next to charles schumer. he won his primary, now he is looking for an excuse to not support him. >> damning new details in the latest batch of wikileaks e-mails showing a then cnn contributor and future interim dnc chair giving team hillary advance notice on a question to
11:13 am
be asked at a town hall. plus, who heard this in the debate? >> one of the women who is a wonderful woman at 12 years old was raped at 12. her client, she represented, got him off and she is seen laughing on two separate occasions laughing at the girl who was rained. >> we dug into that 1975 case. trace gallagher separated fact from fiction about cathy shelton. from albany to utica, creative business incentives, infrastructure investment, university partnerships, and the lowest taxes in decades are creating a stronger economy and the right environment in new york state for business to thrive. let us help grow your company's tomorrow- today

bomb shell e-mail release number three from wikileaks
11:17 am
today showing donna brazile leaked a question to the clinton campaign before the debate in march. she was an employee at cnn and a vice chair at the dnc. chief intelligence correspondent is joining us live. >> maung, melissa, there is a transcript of one of hillary clinton's speeches in 2013 when she talks about the bin laden incident and trump just issued a statement that reads in part that clinton has such a disregard for classified information that one has to wonder if she would even be able to receive a security clearance should she be elected president. the transcripts show hillary clinton did give a speech to a grow on business leaders, and
11:18 am
she gave out debates about the raid that killed osama bin laden. she also talked about an intercepted phone call. dents like this make it hard for the u.s. to lead by example. i feel almost disingenuojen yuse turns at me and laughs and says what about the united states? >> after they cleared, a mission is discussed in public, the cia office offered no comment on the incident. >> what about the dnc leaks? >> earlier leaks revealed that these preferred reporter lists
11:19 am
where the clinton campaign felt comfortable plants positive stories about their candidate. and donna brazil may have shared a question in advance. and the campaign manager, and it was focused on the issue of the death penalty. in the e-mail it is not framed as a question, but brazile hints it might be an issue that could come up and a transcript shows it did come up in the town hall. a cnn spokesman says to be clear they have never given a question in advance which is technically true based on the e-mail, but the e-mail shows it was hinted very strongly she should be ready for the question. >> likt trying to shore up

hillary clinton campaigning today in florida and she is bringing a back up. former vice president al gore appearing with her today in miami, gore famously lost there by just a few hundred votes.
11:24 am
a brand new score card shows that state now is leaning democratic. it's not just florida, clinton has seen big movement in another battleground state as well, right? >> yes, and there is a reason, trump going back for more stops. we're seeing the sunshine state turn against trump now as is nevada. both weres to toss up states, they're moving to the lean democratic column. we have clinton closing in on locking up 307, trump at 187, 44 still up for grabs. but clinton only needs 270 electoral votes to win. if the election was today, the good news for trump is that it's
11:25 am
not being held today and he has a little more time. >> that's right. as we have seen in the last 29 days, but you have new information suggesting that trump has another problem brewing in florida? >> the cumulative impact of his comments on minorities will also have an impact. the clinton camp at put our customers new numbers. requests from democrats, the g.o.p. has traditionally done better, most telling is one in every three new ballot requests coming from hispanic and african. we're seeing the clinton camp register more new voters in florida. and perhaps could have extended it even more.
11:26 am
so signing up more now voters in the sunshine state. >> this is that famous ground game we have been hearing about since the beginning and now we're seeing it in action. >> at least the early stages of it. >> donald trump dug it up in the debate, a '70s legal case involving hillary clinton who defended rapists in court. we're the fact from the fiction. one writer says no matter who claims victory in the election, the real win sere bill clinton either way. >> this is not complicated. we're in a position to do it together and to recapture the american dream. it all depends on you.
11:27 am
11:28 am
11:29 am
11:30 am
donald trump going after hillary clinton. but one of the women that trump invited to the debate says hillary clinton mistreated her when she was just 12 years old. case gallagher is here to explace the case. >> sure, back in 1975, cathy shelton accused a 41-year-old
11:31 am
man of rapeing her. clinton says she was appointed by a judge to defend the accused rapist. part of her defense was filed an avid saying i have been informed that the complain ant is emotional untable. and seen here in a daily mail dotcom photo says she made false accusations before. when the affidavit was shown to her, she says she never fantasized about older men or ever accused anyone. she thought clinton was likely just doing her job. but then in 2014, audio of clinton discussing the case and laughing went public.
11:32 am
watch. clinton claims she was not laughing about the case, but the absurdity of the system. and now cathy says that clinton put her through hell requesting everything polygraph tests and w sexually explicit questions. shelton disputes that and it is true that some evidence was mishandled and the accused rapist struck a plea deal to
11:33 am
lesser charges and spent less than a year in jail. >> thank you, trace gallagher. now to a very interesting take on the latest twists and turns, the race for the white house, my next guest saying donald trump is the new bill clinton and if he pulls off a win in november it will be in good part because of a culture that hillary clinton did much to create. a main street columnist for the wall street journal, a speech write who are joins me now. it is very interesting. you start with the idea that a lot of people have thought about or chuckled about, that bill clinton will return to the white house with all of the perks and none of the responsibilities. in the end, if trump wins, it will be because of the clintons,
11:34 am
hillary clinton, made the behavior acceptable for politicians many years ago, is that your point? >> absolutely, starting with jennifer flowers who bill clinton lied about. he either lied and said i didn't have sex with this woman, or when that became impossible to do, he said this is just lying about sex and the other stuff doesn't matter. before likt if you said if a president is caught having sexual relations with an intern, no one would have thought they could survive that t. the decent thing to do would be to resign, but the clintons don't do that, they challenge it. >> yeah, people are looking at
11:35 am
that as an analogy. it was for sure he would have to resign, but how did he get past that? >> i think a lot of the conventions are about doing the right thing and not being forced to by the law, they realize they're just not going to do it. the main way they did it is they just didn't leave and they went on the attack against all of the accusers and so fartheorth. and a man's sexual liaisons don't matter to his job, you know? this is private, purgy dent even matter. now our guy is living above the standard. >> but they were able took tend
11:36 am
that to the majority, it could field like that. if you look at his approval rating, the way he is thought about now, even though you have that in the back of your head, he is still a popular figure a and how does that apply to donald trump? today is feels like the poll is sliding away -- >> the one thing we learned is that any of these standards it's okay for a liberal democrat to do but if a conservative republican does it -- >> is that the difference? republican versus democrat? >> i think it is a big difference. donald trump -- this tape is just an extra level of crudity. what he boosted about is affairs. there is no surprise. no one is surprised, but we have
11:37 am
been told by the clintons it doesn't matter. maybe it is because there is audio for this one. the death toll for hurricane matthew stands at 27 after authorities found the body of a man swept away by rising float waters. ri rising waters are still a concern. steve is live in lumerton, north carolina where hundreds have been forced to evacuate, steve? >> despite the fact that hurricane matthew is long gone and we had two beautiful sunny days in north carolina, things are still getting worse and the water is still rising. we're having live rescues as we have all through the morning. those are first responders from pennsylvania, they're heading out there in the raft with a motor and paddles as well and
11:38 am
they're going to save people that have been trapped in their houses or apartments. we have been seems people come out. for two days they said they did not have electricity or water, some of them visibly shaken. because of the rain, the heavy flow from key rivers, it's going to get worse. we have 300,000 people without power. melissa, back to you. >> wow, quite a story, thank you for reporting it. >> a sudden shake up at the virginia camp over this. >> the rnc slithered into the
11:39 am
trump campaign. >> fired for encouraging protests against the rnc for their lackluster support. he joins us live to tell us what he thinks about that coming up next. plus, an despiexciting announce from president obama that is out of this world, red planet, here we come.
11:40 am
11:41 am
.... i'm my team's #1 fan. yay. sports.
11:42 am
i've never been #1 in anything until i put these babies on. now we're on a winning streak and i'm never taking them off. do i know where i'm going? absolutely. we're going to the playoff. allstate guarantees your rates won't go up just because of an accident. starting the day you sign up. so get accident forgiveness from allstate. and be better protected from mayhem, like me. a historic day, donald trump has declared war on the g.o.p. he slammed speaker paul ryan in a twitter tirade. now he says the shackles are now removed and i can fight as i want. if they release any more tapes on me i will unload on hillary and bill clinton. we'll have comprehensive
11:43 am
analys analysis. plus, hillary clinton set to reunite with al gore in the swing state that lost him the 2000 election. clinton and gore in florida and we'll have it live. a very big hour ahead. well have it on "shepherd smith reporting." >> donald trump's campaign is firing their virginia campaign co-chairman after he sported a rally against the republican national committee, listen. >> just a few moments ago, because those rnc establishment pukes, who have walked away into the trump campaign, just moments ago threatened me. and they said if we continue in this rally, they will terminate me. >> and they did, corey stewart taking part in the protest that
11:44 am
was meant to warn the gop against trump. and he joins us now from washington. you know the campaign, you're an early supporter, you have been out on the trail. they fired you, but you're not against trump now, how come? >> because the reason i did this was out of loyalty to mr. trump. what i saw from the rnc, the effect and pressure from paul ryan and others, trying to deny the trump campaign of resource we need to win in the important swing states like virginia. i saw it on the ground and it was confirmed a few days ago that the rnc was diverting resources away from the campaign and towards some of the congressional races.
11:45 am
>> let me read you some of the responses. the republican party of virginia, the republican national committee, and the trump campaign are part of one team while the turn of events it disappointing, i support the decision to remove the virginia chairman with less than a month until election day, we can't afford any distractions. the point in all of that is we're all supposed to be on one team. that is -- ironically what you were saying as well. we're all supposed to be on one team. do you regreat protesting and the way you did it calling them puk pukes? >> no, not at all. they told me they would terminate me if i proceeded with it. so i knew what the risk was and i knew it would happen. this campaign is -- if things don't change, we will lose ae
11:46 am
krcritical state. there is a real difference between the trump campaign, the rnc, and the republican establishment. they're trying to undermine the campaign. i have tried and became frustrated in trying to get the resources back on the trump campaign. >> here is what i wonder. we only have 29 days to go until the election. here you are with passion, resources, and people following you. why not protest hillary clinton rather than the rnc, wouldn't that have been more helpful to mr. trump? >> it was a pro trump rally, honestly, and only a portion of it was look, let's try to get the resources back on the trump campaign, but it had to be said. you cannot win the white house without winning virginia. and you cannot win virginia with the lack of resources currently there. there is no ad campaign financing the rnc in virginia
11:47 am
and we will lose the commonwealth of virginia and if we do we will lose the presidency. everyone has to put on a happy face. but i could not do that as part of the campaign and nar very reason i chose to get fired. in order for us to win. >> maybe this is the criticism for everyone in the republican party rather than saying you don't have to put on a happy face, just aim your anger at hillary clinton, stop firing at republicans of any name or place. go fire it at her. what about that? >> i wish they would. you know -- >> how about you? why didn't you do it? >> i'm simply trying to win in virginia, but it's very, very difficult when not only do we not have resources, but people like paul ryan, ed gillespie and others who are condemning mr.
11:48 am
trump, and very hard to win when you have all of the establishments coming after mr. trump. >> now you have 29 days to go, what is next for you? >> i have been traveling to the commonwealth every day. i will continue to do that and speak at rallies, the first and most important thing. i am running next year, but that is second most important when going back to the white house in 2016. >> new trouble for samsung. replacement phones for the exploding galaxy note 7 are not any better.
11:49 am
that uses technology once only in doctors' offices. for deep penetrating relief at the source. new aleve direct therapy. why do people count on sunsweet amazin prune juice to stay fit on the inside? it's made only from prunes, nothing else. it's a natural source of fiber and five essential vitamins. amazin prune juice and amazin prune light. from sunsweet, the feel good fruit.

11:52 am
the united states is going to mars. president obama announcing a new partnership between the government and private companies to send humans safely to mars by the 2030s and ultimately have them stay there for extended periods. oh, no. no word on how much the ambitious plan will cost or how it will be paid for. but come on, we never worry about those details. samsung ending production of the samsung galaxy note 7 around the world because of concerns for consumers' safety. they originally recalled the device because the devices were catching fire. that's not good. now replacement phones are doing the exact same thing. we're live from evanston, illinois, with more. jeff, yikes, what are you hearing out there? >> reporter: yeah, this is one
11:53 am
of the stores where they are bringing the phones back. people are making fun more than anger. somebody said it looks like the galaxy note is to samsung as donald trump is to the republican party. comments like that as opposed to just flat out anger. people are bringing their phones back and they will get their money back and a gift card of $25 if they turn it in for a cheaper samsung phone, they will get the difference back as well as a new phone. samsung is trying to do its part but it's a huge hit. >> wow. i mean, what does it mean for the rivals? it's obviously good news for apple. samsung had been taking market share. this phone when it came out, it could go under water, people were really dazzled. what does it mean? >> exactly. they were thinking they were going to sell 19 million of these, which would have been $17 billion in revenue and now that
11:54 am
potentially goes to the likes of apple and google. that stock is up as well because they have this new pixel phone coming out. this is one that the critics and those that know about these things have given high marks to. this could be good timing as well as very bad timing for the folks at samsung. jeff flock, thank you for that. here's what america is clicking on today. creepy clown sightings in the u.s. apparently inspiring copycat incidents. in australia, new zealand and the uk, police are warning not to use threatening weapons to scare people. you have to actually warn people about that. a stunning fireworks display to celebrate a popular hindu festival which symbolizes the victory of good over evil. hmm. appropriate right now, i hope. airports are working with
11:55 am
airlines to limit what kind of animals you can bring on board. emotional support animals, from dogs to cats to, you guess it, pigs and even monkeys. i've seen a pig myself. amazing. all right. so who won the debate, hillary clinton or donald trump or was it the guy in the mr. rogers sweater. >> while reminding environmentally friendly and minimizing job loss for fossil power plant workers?
11:56 am
11:57 am
11:58 am
so by unanimous social media decision, neither hillary clinton nor donald trump won the presidential debate. did you hear? the real winner was the guy in
11:59 am
the sweater, kenneth bone. he captured the hearts of americans in that bright, red sweater while asking his question on energy policy. turns out he was wearing that sweater because he had a wardrobe malfunction. >> i bought it in kohl's, wisconsin. the sweater was plan b. i had this really nice suit that my grandfather liked before he passed away. i thought i'm going to be on tv and i'll wear it. i've gotten a little more fat than i used to be and when i got in my car, i tore the pants open and they are destroyed. i ripped the seat right out of the pants and had to switch to emergency plan b. >> thank goodness for emergency plan b. all right. that made him an internet plan b. before the debate, he had seven twitter followers. at last check, a few minutes ago, he had 110,000.
12:00 pm
what a great guy. he's not a politician. he tells you all about the pants. thanks for joining us. i'm melissa francis. coming up next, shepard smith. it's noon on the west coast and 3:00 in miami. donald trump has just declared war on the leadership of the republican party. he has unleashed a tweet storm blasting the house speaker paul ryan, declaring he no longer has to wear shackles and can fight for our nation the way he wants. and breaking news now, the fox news decision team has moved the sunshine state into the democratic column. devastating news for donald trump. so what can he do to win it back? both campaigns focusing today on florida. and for democrats, time for an election blast from the past. al gore
