the final financial presidential debate will be anchored by a fox news anchor, our own chris wallace, on october 19th. here's shep. it's noon on the west coast. donald trump is fighting accusations from at least five different women that he groped or kissed them against their will. he says they are outright lies, that they never happened, and now donald trump is threatening a lawsuit. we'll hear from both sides and how the clinton campaign is looking to capitalize. plus, the swing states are getting more and more important. we'll check on the state of the race in ohio, pennsylvania and florida because they matter. and the trump team's denial that it's pulling out of virginia. the leak of apparent clinton e-mails is now growing into more of a flood. another couple of thousand documents out today. we'll see what they show. let's get to it.

and here we go again. donald trump is denying a firestorm of independent accusations from women who say he either kissed them or groped them without consent. in just the past 24 hours, reports have emerged from at least five different accusers who say they have come forward in response to the latest presidential debate when donald trump denied that he ever assaulted women. he said that while he was addressing a leaked video in which he claims he can grope women whenever he wants and sexually assault them because he's a celebrity. again, he said that. trump called it locker room talk. but these accusers say it was much more than that. here are some of their stories. one woman tells "people" magazine that the billionaire essentially attacked her while she was on assignment for his editors back in 2005 for a story on donald and melania trump's first wedding anniversary.

the story goes like this. he says she was interviewing th when melania trump went upstairs to change clothes. trump started giving her a tour and then wanted to show her what he calls a tremendous room. trump shut the door behind us, i turned around and within seconds he was pushing me against the wall and forcing his tongue down my throat. she also writes, "i was grateful when trump's longtime butler burst into the room a minute later as i tried to unpin myself." another woman said that donald trump groped her at the resort back in 2003. she was then 23 years old and helping a friend photograph a concert when trump grabbed her. two other accusers have come forward to "the new york times." one of them is now 74 years old.

she says she was sitting in first class next to trump on a flight more than three decades ago when he started groping her. >> he was like an octopus. it was like he had six arms. he was all over the pace. if he had stuck with the upper part of the body, i might not have gotten -- i might not have gotten that upset. it's when he started putting his hand up my skirt and that was it. >> the gop candidate for president. the woman says that she quickly moved to a different seat in the back of the plane. she also says she didn't complain because when it came to unwanted advances on women at the time, we were told it was our fault. another accuser told "the new york times" she was fresh out of college and working as a receptionist at trump tower back in 2005 when she introduced herself to trump outside of an elevator. the woman says he started kissing her on the cheek and

then kissed her directly on the mouth. she told "the times," it was so inappropriate, i was so upset that he thought i was so insignificant that he could do that. the woman's boyfriend at the time tells the newspaper, what was more upsetting than him kissing her was that she felt like she couldn't do anything to him because of his position. yet another accuser is a former miss usa pageant contestant who represented the state of utah in 1997. she tells nbc news that donald trump kissed her on the lips the first time she met him and continued kissing her on the lips in later encounters. the woman remembers being shocked and feeling, as she put it, super awkward. she also says she didn't come forward because donald trump was the pageant's owner. the accusations in total have triggered an angry response from trump. he wrote this morning on twitter, "the phony story in "the new york times" is a total

fabrication, written by the same people as last discredited story on women. watch." why didn't the writer of the 12-year-old article in "people" magazine mention the incident in her story? because it did not happen. and then donald trump blamed all of the accusations on hillary clinton and a media conspiracy. listen. >> now we address the slander and libel that was just last night thrown at me by the clinton machine and "the new york times" and other media outlets as part of a concerted, coordinated and vicious attack. it's not coincidence that these attacks come at the exact same moment and altogether at the same time as wikileaks exposes

the massive, international corruption of the clinton machine, including 2,000 more e-mails just this morning. >> we are not aware of any collusion between media organizations and he has not presented us with any evidence to that effect. donald trump has threatened to sue "the new york times" and demanded to retract the story. now "the new york times" has responded. lawyers for that newspaper have responded to trump's request or i should say retraction request saying that they, quote, welcome the opportunity to have a court set him straight. they further write, "mr. trump has bragged about his nonconsensual sexual touching of women and has bragged about intruding on beauty pageant contestants and trump's unwanted advances, nothing in our article has had the slight effect on the reputation that mr. trump

through his own words and actions hazard created for himself. now new polls show donald trump is losing support to hillary clinton and the two candidates are set to face off again next wednesday in their third and final scheduled presidential debate in las vegas to be moderated by fox host chris wallace. as if that was not enough, we have mike emanuel following the clinton campaign in los angeles, first, john roberts live in cincinnati where donald trump is set to hold a rally tonight. john? >> reporter: shep, good afternoon. howard sterns told him he was a sexual predator and donald trump said, i am. add that one to the pile as well. this could be nothing less than the survival of the donald trump campaign at stake here, shep. so he's fighting fire with fire in west balm peach a short time ago, winding up his supporters telling him that the media is in bed with the clinton campaign, the aim to destroy the movement

that he has created, insisting that these allegations of groping and inappropriate touching of women are untrue. nothing more than a smear campaign to keep the establishment in power. here's what trump said a short time ago. >> these vicious claims about me of inappropriate conduct with women are totally and absolutely false. [cheers and applause ] and the clintons know it and they know it very well. these claims are all fabricated. they are pure fiction and they are outright lies. these events never, ever happened. >> reporter: those events never, ever happened, according to donald trump, and he says he has evidence to back tit up. evidence that he says he will release at the appropriate time.

anybody would agree that now would be the appropriate time. >> trump says this is all taking a great toll on him? >> personally. don't forget this is a candidate who went through the primary campaign with slash and burn tactics, insulting all of the people who were against him to the point where, you'll remember ted cruz famously called him absolutely immoral and now getting a taste of what it's like to be on the other side. listen to how trump put it in palm beach a short time ago. >> these false attacks are absolutely hurtful. to be lied about, to be slandered, smeared so publicly and before your family that you love is very painful. it's not about me. it's about all of you and it's about our country. >> one of the big questions here, shep, can he survive all of this to live all the way through until the election? and can he even make a decent showing in the election with all of this swirling around? don't forget, similar allegations brought down herman

cain's candidacy in the 2012 election cycle. one candidate said this is war and clearly donald trump is fighting it that way. shep? >> john roberts live, thank you. now to hillary clinton, her campaign is, as you might imagine, slamming donald trump over allegations that he sexually harassed them. major party nominee is firing back. she will be coming to beverly hills later today and arguably clinton's most powerful and effective surrogate blasted trump. >> this wasn't just a lewd conversation. this wasn't just locker room banter. this was a powerful individual speaking freely and openly about sexually predatory behavior. and actually bragging about kissing and groping women, using language so obscene that many of us are worried about our children hearing it when we turn on the tv. >> so that was really a two-part speech from the first lady. one part reacting to the allegations against donald trump. the second part reminding women they have the power to play a huge role in this election. shep? >> some new polls out today, mike, from some of the key battleground states, mainly,

pennsylvania and michigan. >> that's right. two polls looking very good for the clinton campaign. let's look at the numbers in pennsylvania. the bloomberg poll has hillary clinton up nine over donald trump. 48% to 49%. when you consider the third-party candidates polling in single digits. in michigan, the detroit poll has clinton up over trump and gary johnson at 7% and jill stein at 4%. senior clinton campaign aides say they are not getting overconfident, noting that it's been a very volatile campaign so far. shep? >> mike emanuel, thank you. more politics ahead, including the stakes that could really swing one way or the other this election. and what's going on in virginia? the trump campaign insists it is still looking for a win there. but there are reports now that trump's abandoning that effort, that they are shifting their resources elsewhere. swing states, suburbs of philly

virginia among them. there's word that trump's campaign is throwing in the towel in virginia. the campaign denies it but nbc reports the decision came from trump headquarters here in manhattan. officials are shifting their focus and resources to florida and ohio. but the campaign committee is reportedly spending no money on television ads anywhere, nothing. the polls now, the real clear politics polling average shows clinton is up by seven points in virginia. trump cam pay officials blasted this report saying they are committed to that state and it's clear to them that virginia is, as they put it, out of play for donald trump's campaign. a national politic's reporter is joining us. virginia is done?

what do you know about this? >> look, the trump campaign and trump supporters in virginia say this is a temporary break in their operation. they are shifting resources. but this is n-- the clinton campaign pulled ads since early august. she's had a lead for months. it doesn't look like friendly terrain for donald trump. that's a problem because it's another pathway that's closed off the 270 electoral votes. >> lisa, prior to the second debate, members within his campaign and high-place republican officials told all of us what we believe he needs to do is win over women in the suburbs around pittsburgh and philadelphia and other places like that and here's what we believe he needs to do to get them. he needs to get these educated women by giving them a list of

things, none of which he's mentioned this. it's as if the campaign said here's how you get them and he's done something else. do you have any idea why? >> that is the question of the day, isn't it? i mean, clearly this is a campaign that really is controlled by one man, and that's donald trump and donald trump obviously does not see that as a pressing need. in fact, he's been losing those college-educated white women in droves. republicans have won white women for generations. and donald trump is likely to lose them. it makes it hard for them to win the white house and those voters are, as you point out, important swing voters and the suburbs of philadelphia, for example, of denver and columbus. and she's been targeting them

and making very clear, very explicit in her messaging that she's the first elected female president. that argument didn't seem to convince people in the primaries. but with all of these allegations of how he's treated women over the years, it's been a powerful motivator for these voters to switch sides. >> it does appear that way. >> when what you're doing isn't working, you usually change what you are doing. and when that sort of common thing isn't present, it's worth further exploration. you know why i ask you, because if he's not trying to win those women, that means is he not trying to win the white house and if that's not what he's trying to do, what is he doing? is he going for something else? >> that's a really good question. it's certainly one that a lot of people have been asking these

days. i mean, i think that's one explanation, right, that maybe he does have some other goal in mind. he says he wants to be president. he said it today at his rally. i think another explanation is that a lot of times you see with presidential campaigns, particularly in the end stages, that the people listening to the advice becomes an echo chamber. he's hearing from his supporters and aides who say it's working and not necessarily hearing from people outside that say, you know, that it's not. the polling indicates that it's not. in order for him to win florida, ohio, pennsylvania, he doesn't have a pathway to 270. clinton has many more ways to get there and that's really the goal of the presidential campaign, is to maximize your path to 70. he just isn't doing that at this point. >> national politics reporter for associated press, lisa, thank you. >> thanks. much more politics coming

hurricane nicole hit bermuda. it was a powerful cat 3 as it hit the island and knocked out power. here's a look at hurricane nicole before the eye of the storm hit that island. the house on the right -- i should say the house is right on the beach and you can see the trees bending in the wind there, if you look closely. meteorologists say this is the strongest hurricane to hit bermuda in 13 years.

it looks like it went right over. >> bermuda is a needle in the haystack. it really is. it's a tiny little island. this one, a direct hit right over the island and the power lines are buried under the ground. they build the homes really well to be able to withstrand a category 3 storm is legit. there's no other little needles. it's gone. it's moving away. >> the big news really in the continental united states is way west. >> pacific northwest. this starts to be the rainy season in the pacific northwest where you start to get a few storms going on out there. this series of storms, first one moving on today, bringing winds maybe 80 miles an hour. >> the earth is moving, clearly. there's a series of storms

that's going to bring winds 80 miles an hour to a lot of places and we'll see gusts along the coast. mariners have got to get out of the water. the warnings are quite dire. this is the first storm and oregon is the bulls eye and we'll probably see some spots, shep, that maybe see the 25-inch rainfall total and a lot of places that are in the 15 to 20 inches and after behind this storm, another one behind it, the higher elevations is snow. it's a lot. so eventually, even down here towards southern california and sierra nevada which would be the best news ever if we can get some of the moisture going on down there. there's going to be a lot of flooding. >> pacific northwest to watch in the next week. >> yes. about a seven-day series of storms. >> all right. get a rain coat. wikileaks releasing another batch of clinton campaign

events. he's not voting for mr. trump. the former senator also not voting for mr. trump. politicians, even if they say they support him, they are staying away. >> adam shapiro, thank you. after we learned about hillary clinton's private server, one of her staffers releasing all of her e-mails from when she was secretary of state. according to wikileaks, clinton adviser philipe rains brought back in march of last year, and i quote, "should just tweet. no need for this. happy for you to have what i gave state. if they can't, i will. bring a dolly." obviously that never happened. wikileaks claims to have obtained 50,000 and campaign

officers and staffers said that they are bracing. in one e-mail, ed, alleged to have call for people in the obama administration to be fired. >> well, it's back and forth with the liberal think tank center for american progress. she's pretty fired up about that whole healthcare.gov problem, saying in an e-mail to john podesta, one thing i forgot to mention, i've been meaning to discuss, it was a strategic error not to fire anyone in health care and it's definitely fueling anger in the caucuses. hillary clinton just barely survived, of course, but had a lot of political trouble heading into that. what the clinton camp is saying right now about these e-mails is not a lot. they don't want to be mired in answering every single one of

these thousands of e-mails and they are also pointing directly at the russians for this hack. watch. >> i don't recognize that e-mail that we saw. we're not going to fact check e-mails that were stolen, hacked by russians in an effort to her campaign. >> that doesn't prove anything, though. you've heard the clinton camp and obama administration saying they believe the russians are behind this hack but so far there has been no evidence either way. you heard jennifer palmieri, she's not disputing the substance. they are just pointing their fingers at the russians. >> and clinton officials also tried to move around a primary date? >> yes. this is illinois. the primary was in march or earlier this year. they wanted to move it back to april or may.

robby mook, the campaign manager, even though they were not directing the democratic national committee and the calendar, he said the pot could be sweetened for illinois by giving them a bonus of 10% extra delegates if they move to april and 20% more delegates if they move to may. he added that if illinois party officials, they don't care about being helpful until forgotten and neglected by president obama. the key point is that this is a clinton ask, not an obama ask. interesting how things work behind the scenes. shep. >> ed henry, thank you. let's bring in washingtcolleen nelson, "wall street journal" white house correspondent. >> this is just one trickle

after another, wikileaks has indicated that they are going to continue to release e-mails day after day. and so every day we're going to see a few thousand more e-mails and every batch produces some uncomfortable moments for the clinton campaign and, as ed said, they don't want to parse every line and don't want to and don't need to defend every e-mail and they are going to continue to face questions about this, whether they answer them or not. >> you mentioned that close ties between a party standard bearer and the democratic national committee is not really an unusual thing. >> right. one thing that emerged from the batch of e-mails and the clinton campaign long before she wrapped up the nomination and at that point dnc officials obviously were supposed to not pick sides

and you hear donna brazile, the dnc vice chair at one point told john podesta, once the nomination is wrapped up, i will be your biggest surrogate. bernie sanders supporters have long complained that the deck was stacked against him, that the dnc favored clinton and these e-mails provide more ammunition to that effect. >> have you seen any indication that these e-mails have turned anybody who was undecided away from her? >> well, it's hard to determine that just yet but as far as bernie sanders supporters, they have work to do to motivate them to get to the polls. if he wi if we continue to see the bernie

sanders supporters go to the polls and vote for her. >> the clinton campaign insists that bernie sanders is all in for her and campaigning for her and whatever problems they had before are gone, that that's the nature of primaries and now we've moved on to the general and things have sort of fallen into place like they always do. i say almost always because that certainly hasn't happened on the republican side. >> right. well, the good news for hillary clinton is that bernie sanders has been an emphatic advocate for her on the trail. he has urged his supporters to back mrs. clinton and polls show that hillary clinton has done more to consolidate democratic support than donald trump has done to con sosolidate republic support and we've seen him have a lot of problems with his own party just in the last few days. so hillary clinton is still pretty well positioned as far as that goes but this is just a reminder that she does have some

death. here people cry after getting word of the king's death and chanting "long live the king." one woman passed out. the government announced a 100-day period of warning. well-wishers have been pouring in from around the world including here in the united states and the king's son and crowned prince will take over that nation's -- under that nation's constitution, the new king. consider this. 78% of muslim-americans voted republican in the 2000 presidential election. 78%. today, 6% of muslim-americans say they support the gop. that's according to a poll from a council of american islamic relations. 67% support the democratic party and 18% say they are not affiliated with either. blake has more. blake? >> they suggest that muslims are

expected to vote overwhelmingly for hillary clinton next month. the survey released earlier this morning shows she currently received support from 72% of muslims nationwide compared to a paultry 4% for donald trump. 85% believe islamaphobia has increased in just the last year. last year, as you know, trump called for a, quote, complete and total shutdown of muslims entering the country and just a couple days ago both candidates were asked about islamaphobia and says that muslims need to say something when they see something and they need to be our eyes and ears on the front line. a study from last year estimates
