keep this contest close even having basically the worst kind of week that a candidate can have. he's trailing now by just four points among likely voters in the "washington post" abc news poll. and everybody may have some room for improvement because the numbers of people who definitely say they're going to support trump or clinton are only in the high 80s. in new hampshire yesterday trump offered up something we have not heard before to take a drug test. he threw it out there that hillary clinton takes time off the trail for some pharmaceutical assistance. >> i think we should take a drug test prior to the debate. i do. i think we should -- why don't we do that? we should take a drug test because i don't know what's going on with her. but at the beginning of her last

debate, she was all pumped up at the beginning and at the end it was like, oh, take me down. >> no word yet on whether or not anyone is interested in taking a drug test before the debate and trump is making it clear that women coming forward abut his behavior from more than a decade ago think they're trying to help hillary clinton throw the election. totally made up nonsense to seal the election, nobody has more respect for women than me. trump does not have any public events now three days ahead of the debate. he did say yesterday while talking about preparation, if you don't know the issues by sunday, you're not going to know them by wednesday. >> i think a drug test it out the window but maybe a lie

detector test. both have to be hooked up to a lie detector test. >> can we talk about this poll. this was after this unbelievable week. >> maybe two weeks. going back, you know too, the first debate. it's been a land slide of coverage just saying main stream media, donald trump is done. this race is over. you see the numbers right there. four point this is not some random internet poll where donald trump supporters say, it gets close. >> does this say more about donald trump's campaign and his rezillance or hillary clinton not being a good candidate. >> a firing squad for donald trump. she has not come out talking much about these controversies other than the debate. >> pretty silent on it. >> maybe she should have been more vocal on it. >> they were hammering donald trump. shows his resiliency and i think

sandra asked the right question. it suggests more than a year of campaigning and hillary clinton still has not sold herself to the american people. they're still like -- look at this extra portion of the poll here. whether or not this trump video makes any difference to most voters won't make a difference. 64% more likely to vote for him. more likely to vote for him. >> after i heard that tape -- even trump supporters nod that is a self-inflicted wound. when you look at that number, you're right. it's not going to make a difference and we're seeing it in this "washington post" poll. >> seven out of the ten respondents in that poll they do believe that trump made unwanted sexual advances. most say an apology about it was insincere. still, look how close this race was. >> maybe we got past it with the bill clinton era. we don't care about that. >> despite all the coverage

about trump and these issues, what about wikileaks and all of is a sudden new batch of e-mails and includes a speech transcript where hillary clinton goes on and on hundreds of thousands of dollars she got for speeches to goldmine sacks and look at some of the things she said. this one is interesting. whoever runs for president next time has to have a clear idea of where he or she wants to take the country and has to run on those ideas because the election could not be about personality, partisan sniping all of the irrelevant stuff and you wake up and say, okay, what do i need to do? it needs to be an election about the future. the first debate was let me deliver this huge punch miss universe and donald trump has made his mistakes, as well. he's been resilient and she behind closed doors was saying something completely different about the campaign she would run. >> everyone was wondering if

we'd see more than a blurb here and there. three different full transcripts that came out of john podesta's e-mail. hillary clinton paid goldman sachs speeches and as you go through them pretty interesting. it was a q and a session, basically. she sat there and really answered questions from these goldman sachs guys and how she would work in this economy. >> and it's proof as many were suspecting she talks out of both sides of her mouth. going back to the goldman tr transcripts -- >> something you cover so closely with business. listen to this one, "you know, i would like tasee more successful business people run for office. i really would like tasee that because i do think, you know, you don't have to have to have $30 billion but a certain level of freedom."

a bias against the rich, "part of the problem with the political situation, too, such a bias against people who have led successful and/or complicated lives. the sale of stock. it just. comes very ownerous and unnecessary. that's almost like republican talking points about taxes and here she is rally after rally and donald trump has all these tax problems and business problems. >> however, republicans looking for a bombshell this morning are going to be disappointed. in some of these q and as the goldman sachs she's basically saying, look, what you guys did is a disaster and the credit default swaps everyone was involved in, no one knew what it was. we need more transparency. if you look into the ums, you can tell she's -- we need more transparency and we got into a

the house overnight committee. tells fox news the alleged quid pro quo involved the state departments under secretary for management patrick kennedy who was pushing an fbi official to change the classification of at least one of hillary clinton's e-mails to a lower, less classified level. in that same conversation, the fbi official brought up a previous request from the bureau that the state department create additional slot for the fbi and oversea missions. in a statement to less to their own devices, the fbi would never have provided these records to congress and waited until the last minute. this is the third batch because the fbi didn't think they were relevant. he has not read the documents himself, which include classi classified documents, but he said some conflict in the record based on briefings from staffers. he said there are grounds for at least four congressional hearings over these allegations

when congress comes back. now, the fbi responded last night with a lengthy statement explaining just the two conversations regarding the classifications of clinton's e-mail and the additional slot for the fbi overseas were separate issues and maintained everything "the classification of the e-mail remains changed and there was never a quid pro quo. these allegations were nonetheless to the appropriate officials for review." we'll get more on this in the next week and these transcripts are expected to be released on monday to congress. >> troubling, too too, think that the fbi would become a political organization. we like to think the justice department is separate from the political process of this country. >> james comey we had to listen to him say it over and over that policy does not play a part. >> still going back to his news conference where he laid out how troubling all of this was for hillary clinton and said, but, no charges. then patrick kennedy, as well,

didn't go down. i didn't go down. he has been hit with everything and still standing. >> well, partisanship trumps all is part of it. if you look at the poll numbers you're referring to, half of republicans say they do believe that trump has made unwanted sexual advances against women but two thirds don't think this is a legitimate campaign issue. >> it won't affect their vote? >> it won't affect their vote. there are more republicans that say bill clinton's treatment of women is a relevant campaign issue. >> john, as you look deeper in the poll to be fair to hillary clinton, it's saying trump is keeping it tight in closing the gap by the partisanship that katherine mentioned, that republicans are coming home, we've got to get behind him. but that the strong enthusiasm, the fierce enthusiasm of the turnout for donald trump might be waining a little bit.

>> if it was waning, the polls wouldn't tighten. so if that said, i think that he's still growing strong. some voters are look at it as this happened ten years ago. it happened last week, sometime within the election cycle the last couple of years -- >> i would argue it's not just the headline poll numbers that matter, it's who actually shows up on november 8th. that's what's important. that's the real wild card here, there are reasons to think the polls i don't overstate hillary's lead -- >> explain that. >> overstating her lead, there's this idea of a bradley effect that people are reluctant to tell pollsters they support a candidate like donald trump. >> hit with all of these allegations. >> that they are reluctant to tell polsteres it's what the true beliefs are because they will be judged for it. that would understate -- overstate hillary's lead. he has a much better ground game than trump has.

>> well, she's been in politics forever and has a well oiled machine, get out the vote machine. trump is still sort of building that. >> she definitely spends a lot of money, that doesn't mean it will translate into votes. >> what do you make of that in terms of is that the so-called trump card, the idea that these polls even that show it's tight are actually undershowing donald trump's support and more people will turn out on election day? >> i think that's not too far from the truth. if i was to advise trump, i would say look, it is not a reality tv show, however, it's a realty for voters. he needs to talk about jobs and the economy and the supreme court justice in this next debate. if not, this will be a one season campaign that's canceled at the end with no four-year extension. >> john, always has those equips and brings them and that was one of them. i wonder, what do you think about the idea that, you know, wikileaks, we keep talking about

it, drip, drip, drip. is it baked into the cake in the sense people have been hearing about hillary clinton's e-mail troubles forever, barring some major bombshell, does it really matter? >> i don't think it does. what we've seen in the wikileaks messages so far, it's not a bombshell. it's sort of confirms things that were already suspected going on. >> not honest and trust worthy. >> that her comments towards wall street audience members for example, maybe she was too friendly in her remarks. you know, things about how she was managing her image, that kind of stuff, you know, voters have been thinking about that forever, maybe it confirms suspicion but i'm not sure it changes. >> i actually agree with that. i think it will confirm it but the thing is, she has a challenge with exciting bernie supporters and this brings them -- like a debbie downer in a sense. she can spend a lot of money on
