we are waiting for donald trump who is about to speak at a rally in colorado springs today. this is the first time since he was said to be whining about possibly rigged elections. hillary clinton also leaving today, they're both in their last 24 hours of prep. john roberts is here with us. tell us what is going on today? >> donald trump continues to say there was collusion to deny him the white house if 96% of them donated to hillary clinton and

4% gave to donald trump. and research from the state that shows that dead people have voted in the past and research from the washington post that suggest noncitizens have voted as well. president obama said basically what donald trump is talking about is just a bunch of hooie. >> you could not rig america's elections in part because they're so decentralized and the numbers of votes involved. so i would advise mr. trump to stop whining and go make his case to get votes. >> when trump takes the stage in colorado springs, he is coming out with a new line of attack on

voters. she is at 55% to his -- number and then they were tied, sorry i'm looking at my numbers here, they were tied at 41 to 40, what happened to these younger voters who have them tied and now it's 28 to 55. >> i think the issues that younger voters are looking at, the millennials, the message is getting back and forth, we're trying to switch the numbers but we think they're closer in our polling. >> i guess you better hope so, that is your job as the republican chair. let's listen to what melania trump had to say when she decided to speak out after all of these allegations forming for the last couple weeks.

her that says this -- clinton refused to do so. instead being accompanied in a limousine by huma abdean saying her protective detail was so contemptuous that many of them sought to be reassigned somewhere else. so instead of having them ride along with her, or the ambassador she was spending time with ride along with her, she booted them from the vehicle and wanted huma abden to be there. >> she did treat secret service agents poorly. why would i say this and other agents like gary burn say it? because martha, this was a

back on the big day before the big day with this alert as we await for donald trump to make an appearance in colorado springs. we're going to hear from him just moments away. that's mike flynn who's at the podium as he gets ready to introduce him. a little while ago the president spoke about donald trump, said he wasn't going to make any comments about the election, but then he couldn't resist i guess and thought that donald trump was whining about the rigged election issue. so look for some reaction to that in a few minutes from

colorado springs. in the meantime, a man in body armor stormed into a starbucks with a loaded rifle, pointed it at police officers in an apparent ambush. what we're learning now about the possible motive in this case, very disturbing stuff. trace gallagher joins us live with more on that. hi, trace. >> reporter: hey, martha, this is in vallejo. two police officers were sitting in star bucks on a break having coffee. adam powell appeared wearing full body armor, carrying a modified military assault weapon. he pointed the weapon at police and allegedly tried to fire but the gun jammed and the suspect fled. that's when the officers pulled out their guns and gave chase, opening fire on powell at a nearby intersection. powell was struck three times and is hospitalized with life threatening injuries. investigators are now looking at the surveillance videos trying to piece together exactly what

happen happened. the vallejo police chief says it appears to him the suspect was, in fact, targeting police. watch. >> at this point, we know the suspect drove by starbucks approximately six minutes before this confrontation, so we presume that this was a pretated ambush. >> reporter: the motive remains unclear but just a before powell allegedly tried to shot those police officers, authorities were called to his home because powell's two-year-old son suffered a gunshot wound. police say the child's shooting appears to have been accidental or self-inflicted, but all possibilities are being investigated because just before police arrived at the scene of the child's shooting, adam powell left his home and was not seen again until he showed up at starbucks later that evening. the two-year-old, we should note, remains in critical condition. >> awful. what a terrible story. trace, thank you very much.
