interview his election win on tuesday on tonight's "60 minutes." among the tiptopics, the president-elect got specific about his deportation plan. >> we're going to get the people who are criminal and criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, we have a lot of these people. we're getting them out of our k country or going to incarcerate. after the border is secured and after everything gets normalized, we'll make a determination on the people that you're talking about. who are terrific people, they're terrific but we're going to make a determination at that. before we make that, it's very important, we want to secure or border. >> so much to talk about tonight. back with me now is communications direct tor for t trump transition team, jason

miller. weren't you in washington last night? >> i was. good to see you again. >> let's start with the two appointments when we speculated about reince priebus and chief of staff. it's really the gate keeper. reince is someone who gets along with president-elect trump and someone who also gets along with paul ryan, a big plus, i assume. >> absolutely. here is what the beauty of this pairing of steve bannon come ng as the chief strategist and counselor to the president as well as reince priebus as the chief of staff. we have someone who knows what mr. trump wanted to do, has a good vision for how to get there. we have someone in chief of staff priebus who has the relationships to go and make that happen who knows how to run government and knows how to put all this together. really this pairing of the two

will put the president-elect in the best possible position to be able to do it. that's the important part. >> all right. now in this first interview with "60 minutes," the president talking about one of the most important things and themes in the campaign, deportation of illegal, criminal aliens. he talks about those individual who is are drug dealers, gang members. talking about building a wall.s people who are terrific and will make a determination once the wall is built, once we get word of the drug dealers, gang member, we'll talk about keeping some of others. >> this is the exact same thing that president-elect trump has been saying during the entire campaign. he said we have to secure the border and deport the criminal illegals and address what we do with those who are still here. over this course of time, the immigration rules that need to be enforced and whoever is put in homeland security will make

sure we're doing that. this is what the president-elect has been saying during the campaign. it's consistent with what he's said. >> what's important about reince priebus is you have mccarthy and ryon who want to secure the border before they deport anybody, but i don't know whooi you can't do both. knowing president-elect trump, i'm sure he will do both. let's talk about something that was rather surprising in the "60 minutes" interview. it has to do with the question is to whether or not james comey, the head of the fbi will be asked to leave by the president-elect. >> fbi director james comey, are you going to ask for his resignation? >> i think that i would rather now comment on that yet. i haven't made up my mind. i respect him a lot. i respect the fbi a lot. i think -- >> even though they leaked so much? >> there's been a lot of

leaking, there's no question about that. i would like to talk to him and see him. it's a tough time for him. i would like to talk to him before i answer a question like that. >> your reaction? >> very measured response. here is what i've been impressed about with the president-elect. he knows exactly what he wants to do. with 60 minutes you have the attempt to bait him the try to go in a different direction. when i spoke with him last night, he made very clear, i'm going to go in, get our economy back on track. i'm going to get the jobs coming back. we're going to secure our border and repeal and replace obamacare. he's very focused with what he wants to do coming out. that's what you'll see when he takes over. >> that question would have been a real woman. the donald trump that people saup saw in the campaign trail is a little different than the more measured president-elect trump. the head of the fbi is a ten-year term. the whole concept is he will be beyond just one term or two terms of a president. at the same time, he can be

asked to give his resignation. you know what else is interesting about this is that when leslie asked president-elect trump if he's going to ask for a special prosecutor, in line what you were saying to investigate hillary clinton about the e-mai e-mails, he immediately started talking about jobs and getting the economy going. he's acting the presidential way he said he would. >> for anyone who has been a supporter of mr. trump and anyone who voted for him to become our next president, this is exactly what they've wanted to see. absolute crystal clear focus on what's important once he becomes president. our government has been so politi politicized. we saw it with all these different levels. we need to have much less political activity out of our official government than what we've been seeing. i think people will like what they see with mr. trump and should be excited.

>> well, we'll see what happens. got a long way to go just so you understand. that has a long, long way to go. >> all right, your reaction. >> well, let me say as a pro-life person for whom this is a non-negotiableable . i'm so proud of him for being clear. i don't see how people can call themselves civilized when they can take the position by his opponent who supported late term partial birth abortion. i thought the way he handled that issue in the debate and tonight, showed he has convictions about this. these are not political conveniences. that's refreshing to those of us in the pro-life world. this is an issue of whether we're a civilized people and the fact is he's not going to get to solve this all by himself. i don't think he thinks he is. he made it very clear that when he looks at people who will

judge things and particularly supreme court justices, he wants people who have a clarity about issues like life. let's face it, most of us go back to roe v wade, they had to manufacture a basis. there's nothing in the constitution about abortion. it was a political decision by the court, not a legal or judicial one. >> the interesting part of this is that the whole concept of interviewing judges or seeking judges and assessing their qualifications, for the most part we don't ask them to prejudge a particular issue. as a former judge myself i know this. it seems to be accepted these days. the democrats say we want someone who is pro-choice and the republicans and conservatives say we want someone who is pro-life. would you agree with me that that is something that isn't generally considered necessarily

necessary when we decide that we want to put a judge on the court. >> i think what we really need to ask is do you believe the judicial branch is one of three equal or do you believe in judicial supremacy. do you believe the judicial branch can legislate and make up law because it's politically expedient or maybe you're acting on behalf of a congress that doesn't want to touch the issue. i think that's the biggest issue. with need judges who understand the limitations of their branch of the government. since the 1940s, they haven't had that limitation. they have acted as if they are legislatures. that's totally against what the constitution says their role can be. >> activists. right now it's a 4-4 split with a conservative appointment in the place of judge antonin scal scalia. there's no case that i'm aware of right now that is bubbling up

the pipeline for the judges to even consider roe v wade. as you know any, if it were to ever be overturned, it would go back to the states. it's an individual call by the states. >> some states there would be no abortions. states like my state of arkansas. there are other states that probably would have more abortions just because they are so liberal about it. i think the bigger question is this is ultimately not going to be decided judicially. it will be decided by a culture that decides that every human life has worth and value and there's no such thing as a human being that is worthless. if the child with down syndrome is just as valuable as the c captain of the football team and there's no time that we would deem something unworthy of respect and dignity of life. that's where we really will ultimately win this battle. i think donald trump has

good evening. here's what's happening. a sheriff in central california said the killing of his deputy on sunday was an execution. now a suspect is in custody for shooting deputy dennis wallace in the head. the suspect was arrested about two and a half hours south of where wallace was killed for trying to steal a woman's purse.
