think he should be loyal to who was loyal to him. newt gingrich will be on the show later. >> he would prefer rudy. nonethele nonetheless, it comes down to donald trump, he's a businessman. he's trying to put together an all-star team. kellyanne conway was on last night. she said mr. t. is looking for somebody who can do the job. >> in terms of governor romney, i think the secretary of state position is such that and all the cabinet position, you have to be qualified and capable, number one. number two, you have to be loyal to what president-elect trump said his agenda is for the first 100 days. >> i'm a huge mitt romney fan. he's one of the nicest people, the most well-rounded people, unbelievable dad and husband. >> however, if you're looking for a secretary of state that is a lot like what donald trump is,

you're better off with rudy or ambassador bolton. that's the toughness out there. they are -- they're like-minded with the donald trump we saw campaigning as opposed to mitt romney. but mitt romney has the international experience, international business acumen, a lot of the international contacts and he's certainly got a lot of international respect that would give the world a sense that maybe donald trump -- as they suspect. >> to benefit -- i don't know how i feel about him being in that position. he's a multimillionaire. he could help the country in that regard. he's very, what's the word when you're just -- >> moderate? >> he is moderate. but he's not as bombastic. he's even-tempered. he might bring the jeb bushes into the white house or those that come around and support donald trump.

they wanted when they threw a temper tantrum. i'm outraged as a college student and as an american. >> the school's response was get rid of the american flag and all flags altogether? what are your thoughts? >> i think it's completely disrespectful. especially that this happened on the eve of veterans day. this is disrespectful to veterans. the school even acknowledged in their e-mail that it's upsetting for veterans to have the flag at half-staff without it being permitted by anyone else. instead of putting the flag back up, they remove it. this is like a mother taking away a toy from two bickering children and instead of -- instead of being a toy, this is a symbol showing the freedom of our nation. >> we know you're a correspondent for campus reform and your university is part of a consortium with this particular university. i want you to listen to one of the students who supports removing the flag. this guy actually goes to

hampshire college. >> do you yearn for more diversity on your campus or are you happy in a world where everyone thinks like you? >> i think diversity is a different word when you're applying it to political -- different aspects. the point of hampshire college isn't to create a model of our country and simulate political debate and what not. it's to figure out what is most liberally collect. what is the most social justice academia. >> as you listen to him speak, does it seem like he's trying to make a political statement or he's simply a sore loser? >> i think it's a little bit of both. i think that the student thinks that -- in the interview he said that to hear conservative viewpoints, he goes to the other colleges. that's insane. i'm a student in in college consortium and the other colleges don't have a lot of

preferred rick rinell just because he's been a loyal, outspoken supporter of donald trump. he's got great experience in the diplomatic world. but it's donald trump's decision to make, if in fact, it's confirmed. i think the surprise is nikki hae haley was anything but supportive and complimentary of donald trump. personnel is policy. who you appoint to positions, whether your policy or not, that's going to be their policy at some point coming through. you either have somebody who learns to get loyal quickly or somebody who is going to be a distraction. in many cases, somebody who will be a problem because they don't bring to the table that sense of loyalty and compatibility. >> interesting. i guess that leads me to my next question, if it is true that donald trump wants mitt romney to be secretary of state and the family and others areback again. they'd rather have rudy or bolton.

i guess you side with anybody but mitt. >> it's not that i don't care for mitt personally, but i'm still very unhappy that mitt did everything he could to derail donald trump. he didn't just go after him from a standpoint of saying i disagree with his policy on immigration. he attacked him on a personal level about his character, integrity, his honor. when you do that, there's only one way that i think mitt romney could even be considered for a post like that. that is that he goes to a microphone in a very public place and repudiates everything he said in that famous salt lake city speech. and everything he said after that where he said donald trump wasn't fit, that he lacked character, on and on. that's beyond just the normal political infighting that we all experience. political infighting is part of the game. but when you go after a person who is the nominee of your party, who has been dually nominated by the voters, you're

savaging the voters, not just donald trump. so it would be a real insult to all those donald trump voters who worked really hard. he has to stop and consider. >> and if he gets it over rudy, rudy is the most loyal guy outside you that he had. if he wants that job and you give it to the most disloyal, that's a bad message. >> governor, did he offer you a position? if so, what would you want? or what did he offer you, if he did? >> well, i'm not talking about what it was. i was offered a cabinet slot. i didn't think it was a great fit for me. you know, i didn't do anything i did for donald trump because i was elbowing for a government job. i'm not. a lot of people really want it. i'm at a point in my life where i'm quite satisfied with not being in a government job. you know, if he tabbed me for something and really convinced me he wanted to turn me loose and do some reforms, you know, you got to consider that. but as far as, you know, i'm sitting around waiting by the phone because i'm hoping i'm going to be invited to washington, look, i don't even like that town. i take shots every time i go.

>> 15 days ago, right at the election, everybody was talking doom and gloom. that market was going to tank. >> it did. >> no, it did not. >> it came back. >> it tanked in the futures market and came right back. for the last 15 days, we've all enjoyed the trump rally. we closed above 19,000. that's the best level we've ever seen for stocks. >> what's driving? >> growth. schi simple as that. it's growth. wait a second. donald trump has a plan to cut taxes for individuals and for corporations and to spend big on infrastructure. that means a chunk of money flowing into the economy by the spring of next year. a lot of money. that's called stimulus. that means probably a good shot at 4% growth relatively quickly. the market loves that. that's what investors want to hear. >> can black friday make it go even higher? >> no, black friday has nothing

trucks. bomb-sniffing dogs will also be on patrol. an isis magazine recently published a picture of the thanksgiving parade, urging followers to attack crowds with trucks. president-elect donald trump adopted several catch phrases on his campaign trail, but this one really seemed to stick. >> drain the swamp. >> well, that phrase was intended to mean eliminating corruption from washington, but now a writer from the southern poverty law center says that phrase is racist. >> among the people that were spreading the drain the swamp hashtag were vowed racists, white supremacists who exist on twitter to harass and demean various ethnic groups. >> okay. well, that writer also suggested donald trump isn't doing enough to stop spreading violence. one university's answer to people who call the american flag offensive, take it down. hampton college in massachusetts

banning the flag after students lowered it to half staff, protesting the results of the election. it was then found burned on veterans' day. earlier, we spoke to an outraged student. listen. >> instead of putting the flag back up where it should be, they completely removed it altogether. this is like a mother taking away a toy from two bickering children. instead of giving one child the toy, they're just completely removing it. >> wow. the college says they hope this move will help them focus on addressing what they call racist behavior. interesting. in the days following the 9/11 terror attacks, i spent time at that school, and they blamed america for the terror attacks. >> blamed america. >> all right. thank you, heather. let's get responses from you, the viewer. here's what you're saying. the responses are off the charts. >> roger says, if a u.s. college cannot proudly and fully display the symbol of the very nation that guarantees their freedoms, all federal funding should be cut off.

that jukebox. in the jukebox era, you had popular, popular culture. now we have niche popular culture. if you have these boutique stars -- there's as many people who dislike them as like them. more people know lena dunham, for example, for her political views than ever watched the television show she's in. so in a sense, they're no longer in show business. they're no longer in entertainment. they've actually decided to prioritize their politics over their comedy careers. and it's not working out for their comedy because john oliver, that's deadsville when you're reduced to just shouting the "f" word because you're totally bewildered by what's happened in the country you're supposed to be reporting on. it does nothing for you politics. it does nothing for your comedy. a two-way loser. you should always be able to see, as you well know, steve, you should always be able to see the comedy in your own side.

showman. i saw that from the very beginning. that was a way of attracting attention. a lot of the things he says are true. i mean, we cannot have all these illegal -- netanyahu gave a great speech saying how he didn't understand how in this big country of the u.s. we didn't know who was what, where they were, nothing, that we needed to give them i.d.s, driver's license, pay taxes. >> reporter: i want to get to you two. you voted for different folks but came together saying we need a change in this country. >> so true. jim and i both agree on a lot of things. i felt like the choice came between two not very great candidates. my choice was for a potentially crooked politician versus a 3-year-old. donald trump comes across as being awfully vulgar. i worry about him being our

it'll be indoors at a different location. joining us now is newt gingrich. welcome back. >> we got you a cheese burger, mr. speaker. >> it's never too early for a cheese burger, right? >> breaking news. fox news has confirmed the president-elect has chosen nikki haley as u.n. ambassador. what do you think of that pick? >> well, i think she's a very, very successful governor. she's a very smart woman. i think she'll be very effective at the united nations, as effective as any american can be in an organization which has an enormous hostility to our values and to our interests. but i think nikki haley will do a very good job. i think it's part of president-elect trump's very patient process of building out a team. >> governor huckabee was a little upset, said she wasn't loyal to him, wasn't loyal to donald trump in the process, said some bad things about him. how do you feel about that? >> look, president-elect trump has made very clear he wants to

be the president of the whole country. he wants to bring people together. that's got to start in the republican party. i suspect that's part of why he met with mitt romney over the weekend. certainly governor haley was not in the general election anything but supportive. i think, you know, there were 16 people running. so a lot of folks are going to support somebody else. you don't want to narrow your base only to people who were loyal from day one. i think you'll see other people who weren't necessarily for him at the beginning also getting significant jobs. >> yeah, like mitt romney. we wanted to talk to you about that. we were reading this morning that you said there were 20 other people that you could put in front of mitt romney to get secretary of state. >> well, i just think the challenge with governor romney is not just what he said about trump. he was trump's most vicious and explicit opponent all through the campaign on the republican side. you have to list out all the things he said and think, is this guy really going to be loyal? but he wanted to be president, not secretary of state.

you have to ask the question, when he goes overseas, is he going to be the secretary of state for president trump, or is he going to be mitt romney's own secretary of state? i would hope that -- and again, i will support whoever president-elect trump picks because he has the right, i think, as the new president to build the team he wants to build. but i would suggest there are a lot of other people who are more qualified than romney on foreign policy and who are also -- have not been as actively hostile as he's been. >> sure, absolutely. that's an understatement. i know when you were on our program earlier a couple days ago, you said you would like to assist the president-elect as a strategic planner, not an official white house job with cards printed up and stuff like that. but as a strategic planner right now, make the case for why mitt romney would actually help the president-elect. >> well, look, if president-elect trump picks

romney, he can make the case that this proves he's going to unify. if he also gets one or two democrats to join the cabinet, the steps towards making him a national unity president, which is what he wants to do, i think that's the tone of his interview yesterday at "the new york times." so you can make that case. but i can also tell you that when we met at trump tower, we had a very good meeting with the president-elect on monday afternoon. i walked him through why with 4100 state legislators and governors as well as the house, senate, and 4,000 political appointees in the executive branch, i think we have an opportunity, if we think strategically, to really put together a republican government in a way that rivals what franklin roosevelt did in the 1930s. >> wow. so on top of that, some other people have said they put their names in the fray, including david petraeus. david petraeus says, if i'm asked, i'll do it. we also know mattis seems to be everybody's pick for secretary of defense. you want to weigh in?

>> well, look, i've known general mattis for a very long time. he's one of the most talented, most practical senior commanders in the american military in our lifetime. he would be brilliant at anything he did. he's also a total patriot, so i'm confident if president-elect trump asks him to, that he would serve as secretary of defense and do so executing the president's desires. jim mattis understands the way the american system works. there's a reason george washington wanted the president called commander in chief. washington had been a commander in chief. he thought that for the war to be prosecuted effectively, the guy at the top had to be in charge. i think general mattis thoroughly understands that. i think he'd be a great secretary of defense. >> petraeus? >> look, i think general petraeus has a tremendous record. there are a lot of things he could do well. certainly if somebody asked him to be the director of national intelligence, he would have an extraordinary range of skills to bring to bear. he understands as a war fighter

what we need from the intelligence community. he understands as a former head of the cia a large part of this intelligence community from the inside. he's a very talented, very smart guy. >> what did you think of president-elect trump saying he's not going to pursue charges against hillary clinton, especially after just a few weeks ago he was saying he's going to lock her up, put her in jail, and a lot of the trump supporters were screaming and chanting "lock her up"? what's your response? >> i think it depends on exactly what he meant. i heard reince priebus explaining it last night on bill o'reilly. i think it would be as wrong for a president of the united states to say we're not going to enforce the law against somebody as it would be for the president of the united states to say i'm going to direct the justice department or the irs to go after somebody. so i hope what president-elect trump was saying is that he is not personally going to interfere with or in any way suggest to the fbi and the irs

what they should be doing. he is not going to pursue a political vendetta, but i also hope he's not going to -- and i can't imagine that the new attorney general jeff sessions would tolerate sending signals to the fbi or the irs that they should not look at law breaking. if laws are broken in a serious way, whether by secretary clinton or her staff or her husband, then the system has an ab obligation to enforce the law. but the president should not follow up on a vendetta that's political. >> it's interesting, newt. while a lot of people are steamed that donald trump said that yesterday, "the new york post" on the op-ed page today say they like donald trump's about face on sending hillary to jail, where he says, you know, essentially, i want to move forward. they write, the nation's business needs doing, let's move on. so symbolically, you know, move on past that. >> but let me draw a really sharp distinction here.

the president of the united states, the new president-elect, should not have a personal vendetta. >> we understand that. >> but he also does not have the authority to step in and say we're going to cover up all the crimes committed by the foundation, we're going to cover up all the crimes committed by her staff, we're going to ignore the facts. that would, in fact, be fully as much a violation of the rule of law as what obama did. so i think it's very important for president-elect trump to be very careful in this area. he can express i had personal view that he doesn't want to have a vendetta, he's going forward, but i think for him to interfere and say to the fbi or ris or justice department, you should not pay attention to law breaking. that would be a tremendous blow to the rule of law. >> he hasn't done that yet. >> the clinton foundation being investigated by the fbi right now anyway, unless he's going to stop it. criminal. all right. i want to talk about what he said to "the new york times" yesterday. in a way, he's backing off his view on pulling out of the paris treaty. he's also saying i'm not sure

about enhanced interrogation. are you concerned at all about some reversal about some things he said on the stump so quickly with an interview with "the new york times"? >> my impression -- and this is all just newspaper reporting. my impression is that general mattis, when they met, said he didn't believe in enhanced interrogation. given how tough general mattis has been as a marine general, the job he's done in the middle east, i suspect that probably slowed president-elect trump down a little bit. you've got to say this is the guy i want to have as secretary of defense and he doesn't believe in it, maybe i better caution and temper what i said earlier. clearly, though, he's always going to say, when in doubt, push the envelope, go after the terrorists, do what you have to, to make america safe. on the paris treaty, i'm not sure exactly what all that means. the fact is if we're going to issue the kind of reversals that president-elect trump campaigned on in terms of saving coal as an

industry, helping small towns in kentucky, west virginia, pennsylvania, ohio, et cetera, that puts a real strain on the implementation of the paris accords. and i suspect he will have scientists around him who are much more skeptical than the climate fanatics that barack obama relied on. >> that's a good point. mr. speaker, one of the other nuggets from "the new york times" interview yesterday was perhaps his son-in-law jared kushner could head up events to broker peace in the middle east. what do you think about that notion? >> well, look, jared kushner is one of the smartest people i've ever worked with. he was an absolute key to how the amazing trump victory occurred. he feels very passionately about trying to find a path to security and safety for the state of israel. whether or not that -- and he's obviously extraordinarily close to the president-elect. that would be interesting.

a person of interest, deangelo davis, was arrested around 10:00 p.m. last night. that ended a three-hour manhunt. >> look at the environment, not just here, but across this country. we had four officers ambushed over the weekend. this needs to stop. i really believe that a lot of what's fueling these attacks on police officers is some of the anti-police rhetoric. >> well, right now officer rose is out of surgery and is in critical but stable condition. a school bus driver allegedly screamed "are you ready to die" to the children on board before he crashed that bus and killed five children on board. that's according to the mother of three children who were on that chattanooga bus. police confirming the driver was going well above the 30-mile-per-hour speed limit when that bus wrapped around a tree. >> my babies came home and said

that this bus driver is cussing on the bus, cussing at them, drinking, speeding. >> police say that the driver, johnthony walker, was involved in another collision just two months ago. he had gotten his bus license back in april. 12 children remain hospitalized this morning. well, even more criminals ready to walk the streets because of president obama. 79 additional prison sentences now cut short as the outgoing president continues his clemency crusade. the total number of commute ed sentences so far under the obama administration now reaching 123. that's more than the last 11 presidents combined, and it's not over yet. president obama expected to add to this number during his final weeks in office. and he could be a future member of president-elect donald trump's cabinet, but last night he took a quick break from politics. check it out.

forward. trying to perhaps block that. and look what's happening to nancy pelosi. challenged by congressman ryan there in ohio. and when you mention president obama, last night charles was pointing out just how much wreckage there has been for the democratic party on the president's watch. >> what obama leaves behind after eight years is a loss of ten senators, 14 governors, the loss of 31 state houses, and of 63 house seats. the democrats are at the lowest they've been in the house since the 1920s. if you look at a map of the u.s., there are about 5,000 counties of which hillary clinton won 300. >> so who picks up the pieces? i noted vice president joe biden saying he doesn't want to be chairman of the dnc. keith ellison, the muslim-american congressman from minnesota, got in early, has the support of key democrats like senator chuck schumer. but there's trepidation at the
