and i guess what i would observe is that if he is successful in doing that 804 times he will meet the record of manufacturing jobs that were created in the united states while president obama was in office. there were 805,000 jobs that weren't just protected or saved but actually created while president obama was in office. so president obama has set a high standard. and president-elect trump can meet that standard if this carrier deal is completed. >> it's good to see he's happy for him. >> right, who wouldn't be happy to save jobs? that's great if president obama saved 805,000 jobs. remember how he did that. he did that with the bailout. ford, carrier, these companies were moving to mexico under his watch. trump wasn't even president yet.

flags. >> why don't we have flags that don't burn. >> i think president-elect trump's going to start giving those out. >> when you talk to these soldiers, they would say, we fight for their right to do that. we don't agree with it. what about when you can't even fly an american flag? >> that is also a suppressing speech, because just as you have the right to burn one, you have the right to display one. and the university -- >> so you're saying they're breaking the law? >> no. if it's private property they can do it. it's condemnable, but it's lawful. >> what has to happen for this to go to the supreme court again to take a look with a fully-staffed supreme skocourt? >> i don't know how it could happen. it would take a legislature to enact the statute and somebody to burn the flag and be prosecuted and make its way again. but the supreme court doesn't

this is to blame is the parents, obviously, because they didn't impart how to do certain things along the way, so when -- ultimately when they go to these classes and then they learn what they have been missing, do they say, hey, what took me so long to figure that out? >> now we have social media, now there's a platform to talk about what's hard, and people are kind of giving their moment-by-moment of their lives, so we're seeing it. so maybe things that were always hard and now we're just hearing the experience of it, but, yeah, some of them are kind of saying, wow, i can do this. i think it's more of a -- i think millennials can get a bad rap.

reluctantly joined because they were going to do it anyway but even that looks bogus now too, doesn't it? >> listen, she has either a legal obligation to do this, which she does not. she has perhaps a moral obligation she might feel which she does not. so this is a political decision. she has every right to do this. it's not a question of whether or not she can do this or she's the right to do it. it's the question does chef the people behind her, you know, supporting her to do this, out she do this, should she do this and as a democrat that's what this boils down to and i think the answer is ultimately no. >> ultimately, all parties say it's not going to change the result, which brings in the motivation and it looks like the motivation from all the parties involved is simply to make donald trump the president look illlegitimate. >> i've heard that argument.

we've been following this story. new details and a fox news alert, an eight-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl have just been rescued from the washington state home where a police officer was shot and killed last night. that suspect barricading himself and holding those children hostage for nearly 13 hours. the police officer who was killed, a 17-year veteran of the tacoma police force. he was responding to a domestic disturbance call when he was shot multiple times with a rifle. that suspect then turned the gun on the officer's partner. listen to this. >> i think my partner is down inside the residence. >> copy, partner down inside the residence. >> four to five shots in the house. >> copy, 4 to 5 shots in the house. able to return fire but i don't know if i hit him. >> the officer has not been identified yet. nearly 100 people you can see right here coming to honor him as his body left the hospital.

we're praying for that family this morning. extreme weather right now, alabama under a state of emergency as a powerful storm rips across the south. this morning, a powerful image showing a little girl pulling her doll from the rubble where her house used to stand. three people in her town east of huntsville, alabama, were killed in that violent tornado. it lasted just two minutes. win speeds hitting more than 110 miles per hour. then in tennessee, a tornado claims the life of a volunteer firefighter and his wife. storms also down in power lines and leaving entire neighborhoods in ruins. in less than three hours, wisconsin kicking off the election recount spearheaded by jill stein. she's on a roll. filed another recount in mitch. the clinton campaign is begging volunteers to oversee the recount. it is still going on. didn't think we would hear battleground state for a while

but now we're saying that again in a sense. >> well, it's battling. they are still battling. president-elect donald trump back to the battleground state today kicking off his thank you, america, tour. he's starting in indiana. >> that's right. it's a two-fold victory lap as he and vice president-elect mike pence celebrate a major win for 1,000 american workers. >> peter doocy is live outside trump tower with details. so much happening yesterday, a lot of people didn't really focus on this job save. >> well, there's got to be a lot of talk about it today, especially once the president-elect and the vice president-elect show up at this plant in carrier to explain the deal that they made with the plant to save these 1,000 jobs at the factory in indiana. we do expect to hear from the president-elect about what a victory this is for him, but he's saying he thinks it's a good deal for carrier as well. he tweeted last night this. look forward to going to indiana tomorrow in order to be with the great workers of carrier.

they will sell many air conditioners. late last night, carrier lifted the curtain themselves on some of the negotiations that the transition team had with them over the last several weeks since the election and they say in part that the announcement that's going to be made today is possible because the incoming trump-pence administration has emphasized to it us its support the business community and create an improved more competitive u.s. business climate. the incentives offered by the state was an important consideration as well. they have seem to have won the incoming president and his administration some fans among people whether or not before this happened. >> i was not a huge trump supporter, you know, i didn't really know how to take mr. trump, but i'm glad that he actually lived up to a promise and stuck with it, and i'll gladly throw some support to him

answer his questions on teleprompter? >> no more than you are, brian. >> you met with vice president-elect yesterday. you are going to meet with donald trump tomorrow. what happened in the meeting with mike pence? >> nice try. you know, i am old school on this subject. i think really it's, obviously a matter for the president-elect to decide what he's going to reveal about his decision-making process. he can choose to reveal it. but i don't think it's really up to me or anybody else, frankly, to divulge the circumstances. >> sure. >> this is not an issue just in the transition. i think this is you see how the doctrine of executive privilege fits in here. that a president has to have confidentiality to make important decisions. >> absolutely. we understand you are not going to reveal anything about what you want to talk to him about and you are not going to bad mouth the other candidates. however, you know, --

>> you are narrowing the scope here pretty well. >> for the most part, over the last week or so, ambassador, we heard it's the final four, and your name was not on that list. so did your name get added to the list after the chat? >> well, here's a thought, steve, you know, sometimes the press gets things wrong. it has happened, i know, occasionally. >> what! >> i don't know. i'm not familiar with decision-making process, even if i were going to talk about it, which i'm not. >> gotcha. >> i got something for you. you were kind enough to come on my radio show. lindsey graham said this. he said i'm a big john bolton fan. i'm in charge of the state department's budget. i get five people working for me. i don't have enough people to go in there and turn the state department upside down. john bolton knows where the bodies are buried. we need to fire people and

bolton sees it for what it is and i'm a big john bottle ton -- bolton fan. if you get this job, would you do what lindsay graham wants you to do? >> i talk at length at what department.d to be made at the it's not a question of management restructuring. it needs a cultural revolution for a lot of reasons and i think that's important going forward because of the damage that's done to american interests by not having a department, which is what we need to be, effective advocating american interests. >> ambassador, would you explain for the folks at home who don't understand the swamp that is washington and the swamp that is the state department, how it operates? i mean, every couple of years you get a new secretary of state in, but approximate for the most part, a lot of people stay there. they are career bureaucrats. explain the culture at the state department that you would like to change. >> just to give a perspective,

there are almost 70,000 employees of the state department worldwide, so it's a pretty big bureaucracy and over the years, it's gotten the attitude that they are not there necessarily to follow what the president wants to do in foreign policy, that they are there to run foreign policy themselves. very similar to the attitude of foreign ministries in major european countries. i think as secretary of state has to follow what jim bakker said back in the george h.w. bush administration. he said it publicly even before he went over. he said i will be the president's envoy to the state department and not the other way around. >> and that's what you want -- >> what are the duties of the secretary of state? >> well, primarily to advise the president on national security issues, to come up with suggestions for grand strategy for the united states to maintain america's place in the world that is critical to safeguarding our way of life here at home, and then to carry

he joins us from our nation's capital. good morning to you. >> good morning. >> let's go back. nine months ago, you've known pl pl -- mitt romney pretty well. nine months ago, when he was trying to blow up donald trump, nobody could figure out why he was trying to do that. that guy is a lot different than the one who exited the dinner two nights ago. >> i think there's a long history in america of presidents appointing their chief critics, and you don't have to look any further than ronald reagan for that. he had a difficult primary with george bush and he named him as vice president and barack obama brought on hillary clinton as secretary of state. you can go back to abe bray ham -- abraham lincoln for examples of bringing in your cabinet your rivals. >> there's a saying in business, it's nothing personal, it's just

business. so if they put their personal former animosity aside for the betterment of the country, that's terrific. meanwhile, what do you think, brian, is going on behind the scenes? what do you think happened at that dinner the other night over at midtown manhattan? >> by accounts by both sides, it was a very good and productive dinner. they were much more extensive after his first meeting. i think that's a real good sign of a deepening relationship. they are both businessmen and donald trump has a lot of respect for what i think mitt romney accomplished at bane capital and i think when he's considering the qualities that he wants in a secretary of state, they match up very well with mitt romney. >> a lot of people think mitt romney, he ran the olympics, he was the governor of the commonwealth of massachusetts, but he doesn't have much international experience, but then again when you think about

what he did in 2012, when he was running for president, he was right about just about everything that would happen in the future. >> well, that's exactly right. he made a lot of foreign policy calls in 2011 that has all been vindicat vindicated. he was right on iraq, and syria, and russia as a geopolitical threat and west africa and mali. he's shown consistently good judgment. >> we thank you very much for givi giving us your point of view. real estate is our next president's specialty, so what can he do to help the struggling housing market? bob massi, the property guy coming up next. sorry, kids. no santa in the classroom. a school who says the jolly old elf is offensive. ♪

we're back with some headlines now. a georgia state representative following the president-elect's leave pushing for a bill to block state funding for sanctuary schools. he says it's in response to atlanta's em morery -- emery universi university. santa claus and other decorations now banned by an oregon school district.

the controversial decision comes from administrators say the decorations are getting out of hand. we have a good idea of what president trump plans to do when it comes to keeping and creating good-paying jobs for our country. what about the housing america? how can he make housing great again? bob massi is here. he's the host of "the property man" as you know. where does the president-elect need to start, in your opinion? >> three areas. number one, loan modifications are going to mature again next year. it's going to cause a problem. two, what we call zombie titles. those properties that are still for years in home owner's name and they can't move on and three the mortgage debt relief act expires this year and we have to get it extended. those three areas, you got to get a committee to put together to stabilize this housing market. >> that means if your house is

foreclosed on, you don't have to pay taxes. is that a good thing? >> a lot of republicans were against this, but what it basically means exactly what you have -- said. if you had a primary residence and that debt was forgiven because upside down. if we don't extend that with a lot of properties out there that have not been foreclosed on, and then there's fore closures, people are going to be income tax liability. that needs to be extended until we get this stabilized. >> you mentioned zombie homes. what are those? >> i actually have clients, ainsley, that have been out of their home and still living in their home for seven years. and they haven't made a payment and they begged the servicers, the people to accept the payment every month to take their home back, please, i want to move on with my life. and it's like in a black hole

somewhere where they have no idea where the notes are, they have nothing. so these people still owe the money on the home, want to move on with their life, but when you pull their credit report, it shows the debt owed and it's still titled in their name. they can't get anybody to listen to them. it's still a problem in our country. we need to wake them up, say lenders, servicers, please, these people want to move on. take the homes back. do what we call deeds in lieu of fore closure. >> tes putting a lot of emphasis on infrastructure. are you feeling positive about donald trump helping the housing market in the future? >> could not have anybody better along with his incredible children to understand the housing market and the last thing, ainsley, is this loan modification issue which ties into what you are saying. loan modifications are going to mature next year. here's what that means real quick. a lot of people are paying like

the message from voters that the status quo is not going to cut it. >> he's quoted as saying, this is becoming a coastal party, a regional party. he's concerned about losing a lot of these blue collar voters. are you? >> i am. and the irony here is that a lot of our economic policies are great for working class families, they expand the middle class. a lot of trump's tax cuts that will dramatically increase our deficit just go to the wealthy few, and so we actually have some great policies and yet our message is failing to resonate with middle america, so we've got a lot of work to do and we've got to question whether we have the right message and whether we have the right messagers. >> after the last eight years, hite house has done, made it tough for hillary clinton to win, in the big picture, how much is nancy pelosi to blame for this and how much is barack obama to blame for the state of the democratic party? >> you know, there's a lot of blame to go around, but the most

important thing is we've got to take responsibility for our failures and i'm really new to politics, but i was a marine platoon commander for several years and my job description was very simple. it was one sentence. you are responsible for everything your platoon does or fails to do. full stop. well, we failed in this last election. our election results have been terrible over the last four election cycles or more, and so we've got to take responsibility for that, and there aren't many party leaders who are standing up and taking responsibility and saying here's a new strategy, here's a new way forward. we've got to make some change. >> something did change. she needs a lot of people on the leadership to expand beyond those in their 70s. how come you weren't on this list? you and congressman ryan should be on the list. >> the problem is that she's added all these positions, but she just made them appointed positions, so she can still control who sits in those seats, and what the sentiment of the
