you end up getting more land that you are supposed to give that up and let your enemies get even closer to you. that's absurd. the two state solution is no solution. it's never gonna work. i know it's been our policy but it's a foolish policy. it's feckless and it'sdangerous. and the fact is the palestinians have no intention of ever coming to a peace accord. remember, in 1995, when ehud barak was basically willing to give up 95% of the israeli land and rejected it? why. they don't want peace. palestinians started as a terrorist organization in the early 1960s. jerusalem has never been the capital of any country except for the jews in israel. it's never been a palestinian capital ever. when people talk about it it's like they are ignorant. i have been going to israel 43 years. i have been there many times a year. i will be there a week from tomorrow. i'm not speaking about something i have read about. i have visited these places. and when people talk about apartheid, they are talking out of insanity.

they have no idea what they are talking about. and the israelis have provided jobs. they provided safe haven. they provide hospital care. let me just row mind you. this there are arabs who are in the israeli -- you can tell me how many jews help governor saudi arabia or yemen or the emirates? none. >> well, governor, i want to get your thoughts on this because president-elect donald trump was tweeting about this right after it happened. he is saying that things will be different when he gets in office come january 20th. and this comes as ben rhodes, the white house deputy national security advisor he said, look, at this point, president obama is in office. this is not the time and place, basically, for president-elect trump to be getting involved in these sorts of things. here is what he said on that. >> the first thing i have to say is that there is one president at a time. president obama is the president of the united states until january 20th. and, you know, we are taking this action, of course as

u.s. policy. and as i also said, this has been long standing bipartisan u.s. policy to oppose this type of settlement activity going forward. >> so there you have ben rhodes basically telling president-elect donald trump tbut out of this thing and yet is he going to take over in a couple of weeks here. >> also policy american presidents don't change a long standing four decade old policy about vetoing these kind of actions at the united nations in the waning 30 days of his tenure. this is major policy shift that happened yesterday. and we set back at the u.n. let me just tell you. the u.n., it's time for us to stop sending money down that rat hole. these are a bunch of mosquitoes pretending to be eagles and they have no business trying to determine what other countries do in their own sovereign nation. and it's become a laughing stock. when you have countries like venezuela making this

decision and putting forth? i mean, how does that make any sense to anybody whose brain has enough iq horsepower to pedal a bicycle halfway around an english pea, for heavennens sake. this is incredibly dangerous policy. it's going to make the world a much less safe place for everybody. >> governor, the change in the u.n. not the only thing that donald trump was tweeting about yesterday. he also wrote this about the recent terrorist truck attack at the christmas market. he said the tastes had killed so many people in germany said just before crime by god's will we will slaughter you pigs, i swear we will slaughter you. this is a purely religious threat which turned into reality. such hatred when will the u.s. and all countries fight back. so, the next president is really trying to make a point that members of a certain religion are being targeted by members of another religion.

do you think how big of a change is that going to be when he takes over? >> it's going to be monumental change. when christians were being slaughtered in egypt, our government said nothing. when there were christians being slaughtered among the kurdish territory of iraq, our government basically said nothing. when people were being slaughtered in aleppo, you know, we were feckless and, again, we secretary of defense there would be a red line, but there hasn't been a red line. we haven't done anything. one thing i do think donald trump will do is to say, number one, we're not going to stand by and watch people of any faith but specifically christians who are targeted more likely by radical islam. we're north going to stand by and just watch them get slaughtered. the second thing we're going to call this what it is. it is radical islamist terror. and i think it's going to be a refreshing change just to acknowledge the enemy. i bet a lot of germans wish that angela merkel had recognized that there was a real threat before she let 1.1 million unvetted

our family and traditions. at lot of people sitting down with a big family. a lot of permanents. a lot of different background and political affiliations. you say avoid it all together. how do you handle that? >> i think we have to remember number one we're adults and we should be able to have conversations with other adults. and if they disagree with us, that's an opportunity for us to learn how to handle our emotions in the face of disagreements. and also what is tomorrow? tomorrow is christmas. so for all the christians out there, that represents christ the day that christ was born. and what did jesus christ represent? he represented peace and love and caring for other people. not hostility and anger. we need to remember that. >> is it really realistic to think that people -- that part, i get. but is it realistic for people to sit down christmas dinner and not talk politics after this election? >> yeah. that's a little ambitious, i would say. >> how do you handle it then? it's going to come up. >> you will have the crazy uncle or graneld that in the

corner say i think this or that. >> you pull out what boxers do. go into the bathroom and psych yourself out in a positive way make sure i'm in control of myself. i'm not going to lose my cool. i'm an adult. it's okay if somebody disagrees with me. >> you have been doing this a long time. are there generally more arguments at christmas or thanksgiving or with your family after a democrat won or after a republican won because it seems like, you know, you go on buzz feed or these websites ten things to say to your crazy republican uncle. never see how to talk to somebody who might be a democrat. >> right. i think the outward anger or frustration that is coming is really coming more from the democrats in my opinion. i remember 8 years ago when obama won, i don't remember hearing republicans accosting people on airplanes and letting people have it. you see a lot of that now. >> peter was saying in the segment early there hasn't been a tea party party person who went after michelle obama if there had been we would still be

president obama turning his back on israel. >> that's right. the u.s. breaking decades old policy by not protecting israel, not vetoing a u.n. resolution refusing to recognize israeli settlements. >> lauren blanchard is live from washington, d.c. with more on what the decision means. good morning, lauren. >> good morning. yeah. yesterday, the obama administration abstained from a u.n. security council vote allowing what some call an anti-israel resolution to pass 14-0. the u.s. has historically used its veto power to stop the u.n. in similar resolutions against israel. their prime minister benjamin netanyahu said in a statement the obama administration not only failed to protect israel against this gang-up at the u.n. it colluded with it behind the scenes. the president's administration has become increasingly critical of israel settlements and disputed palestinian territory. the decision is getting support from some human

rights groups. u.n. ambassador samantha powers did concede the u.n. has targeted israel in the past resolutions but said abstaining from the vote was in line with the president's policy and his belief that settlements harm peace talks. >> united states has been sending the message that the settlements must stop privately and publicly for nearly five decades. one cannot champion expanding sessionments and a viable two state solution that would end the conflict. one has to make a choice between settlements and separation. >> on capitol hill, president obama he receiving backlash from republicans and some democrats. house speaker paul ryan calling the vote shameful and saying a unified republican government will work to build relations with israel. prime minister netanyahu also said he looks forward to working with president-elect donald trump. abby, ed, peter? >> thanks lauren blanchard

they are leaving a mess for the next president and you wonder how much of that was on purpose. >> you make a great point. because the question here now is what happens? and can this deal be changed? and charles krauthammer was on last night. i listen squarefully to what he says because is he so thoughtful about these moments. i don't know if we have that set up i'm going to read that to you. we do have that shot with charles krauthammer. >> he have eight years to enact his agenda. he twice wins so he has two mandates. and, yet, at the very last minute when loss of legitimacy and lame duck, he leaves last-minute land mines behind, things he could never have done when he was still an active politician in the sense that he had to protect himself or the party. he shuts down the artic of the atlantic for oil and gas drilling exploration and he stabs israel in the back just as a coda. so i give him the lump of coal. >> so he says, you know, stabbing israel in the back. huckabee saying that,

basically giving him the middle finger. what he said there that i thought was so poignant is leaving these huge land mines for the incoming administration to have to fill. >> that's what's important is what is next. donald trump immediately went on twitter and it was short and sweet and said as to the u.n. things will be different after january 20th. because you hear from the white house, the current white house. one president at a time. so i read from that tweet, fine, it's one sentence. one president at a time. but come january 20th. this is going to be turned around. >> but until then, you know, what needs to be different? until then, this could be a major security problem for israel. because, they have people all around them in the middle east who just saw that their best friend, the united states, isn't so friendly anymore. so if you are iran, and you see that the u.s. does not have israel's back on, this what are you thinking? >> sure. you have got the only democracy basically in the middle east. our key ally. meanwhile what's the u.n. doing on the other hand to stop the slaughter in syria? where is their focus on that.

that's what president-elect trump is getting at. these ridiculous shots at israel. what about actual substantive efforts to stop the carnage? what about that. >> what does the focus need to be and who do we need to rely on to help us with places like syria and terrorism right now? that's the question. >> right. you have got ted cruz saying let's defund the u.n. you have lindsey graham very reasonable republican who has not always been donald trump's best friend. but saying wait a second. maybe we have got to take money away from the u.n. i would also note the daily news, which was against donald trump at every turn, obama shafts israel. chuck schumer, the democratic senate minority leader, are all of those democrats right there. including debbie wasserman schultz. >> you have senator ron white and joe manchin and senator richard blumenthal and chris coons and debbie wasserman schultz. these are people who didn't speak out in years past when president obama was in office. like there is a new chapter starting here.

we can voice our frustration because this isn't something we want to get behind. >> remember when president obama was campaigning he needed a lot of pro-israel support so we didn't hear any of this from him. but another big part of the obama campaign, especially in 2008 was we are going to go and talk to iran and north korea and cuba. all of these enemies. look what he -- when you are spending that time much time with the enemies, what about our friends? if you are israel with friends like us, who needs enemies, man, they are by themselves at least for another couple weeks. >> and remember that scene at the democratic convention? i was there in charlotte in 2012. the fight over language in the platform about whether or not to move the u.s. embassy in israel. we have got it? >> all those delegates opposed say no. >> no. >> and the opinion of the chair two thirds have voted in the affirmative, the motion is adopted and the platform has been amended as shown on the screen.

>> i remember that was a moment where democrats were embarrassed by how all that played out. look, it has been in fairness, president obama long standing u.s. policy under republican and democratic presidents to be speaking out against these israeli settlements. however long standing veto these kind of -- u.s. -- israel's only ally before the security council. >> that's why this is so important. you made an interesting point ed on the show about how political this move might have been coming from president obama had hillary clinton been this next president coming in. you said that he wouldn't have made this move. i found that real interesting. >> because we abstained, also. it's like president obama. sort of back to the future. remember how he voted present over 100 times as a state senator in illinois. he voted to abstain. we didn't even take a real position. but by abstaining, that allowed the shot at israel to go through. if hillary clinton had been elected, do you really think president obama would have done this to israel? >> he didn't want to leave the land mines for her.

capabilities of individual systems, that's northernization, if you are expanding numbers of nuclear warheads, that's something different. we're not going to do that. we don't need to do that. russia is not going to do that. look, we have been putting patches on the elbows and sleeves of our nuclear systems. our nuclear triad for more than a generation. now it's time for a new outfit. again, even obama recognized that we need to modernize our nukes. because the paradox is as monstrous as nuclear weapons are, they have kept the peace of europe and the world for almost for more than two generations. and the more terrible they are, the less likely they are to be used. the left will never deal with that. >> western peters you did mention the disruptive nature of these trump tweets, is it really such a bad thing if america's adversaries don't know what we're going to too isn't that something trump said during the campaign i don't want anybody to know what i'm going to do. >> well, certainly an

there -- again, he's somebody who had to apologize to a lot of people for a "new york times," i believe it was -- >> "new york times" magazine piece where he said, set up this fake narrative. >> a fake narrative about the ie iran deal. >> listen what he said about trump doing all of this and how he thinks it's not right because there should just be one president at one time. >> on the president-elect, the first thing i'd just say is that there's one president at a time. president obama is the president of the united states until january 20th. and we are taking this action of course as u.s. policy. and as i also said, this has been longstanding bipartisan u.s. policy to oppose this type of settlement activity going forward. >> the talk about one president at a time, you wonder how much of that is just because the president-elect is getting all the attention for anything

domestic. he's making deals with carrier and boeing and lockheed, international tweets about nuclear arsenal -- nobody has any idea what the president is doing unless he breaks decades of diplomatic protocol. and the other thing that is so surprising is that this is what ben rhodes is getting upset about because they know that stuff is going to change. president-elect trump said that he was going to undo basically every executive order that the president has put in place. >> sure. >> what if ben rhodes was more exercised in doing something about the slaughter in syria, what about the hypocrisy. mainstream media freaked out when president-elect donald trump took a phone call from -- this is not diplomatic niceties and now president obama snubs israel and democrat senators like chuck schumer, not according to republicans and mainstream media, okay, this is fine. >> this is a tough one to criticize president-elect trump on because he's tweeting again about another victory. he talks about cutting costs and bringing more jobs back to the

u.s. in this case lockheed martin, the ceo, she's committing to driving down the cost. this is what trump tweeted yesterday -- or thursday after the meeting he had with the ceo says, based on the tremendous cost and cost overruns of the lockheed martin f-35, i've asked boeing to price out a comparable f-18 super hornet. this is a statement that was then released from the lockheed martin ceo marilynn hewson said i had a very good conversation with president-elect trump that assured him i heard his message loud and clear about reducing the cost of the f-35. i give him personal commitment to drive the cost down aggressively. this is one of those things where you think if people just had conversations, if they just meet in person and say, you know what, this doesn't make a lot of sense, we've got to bring this costs down. to which the ceo says you're probably right about that, let me see what i can do. >> well sure, but why did it take for some tweets for them to say we're going to be more careful with taxpayer money. they should have been from the

first day whether it's democratic or republican. >> you know why? because their stock tanked when the president-elect said he was going to give boeing a chance instead. boeing, who he had a very nice meeting with, boeing guy said, yeah, we're going to make air force one for cheaper and make the f-35 components for cheaper. but also the f-35 is 20% -- makes 20% of all the revenue for lockheed martin. so if that goes away, that ceo would be in really big trouble. and this is, you know, donald trump wrote a book the year i was born, "the art of the deal." it's completely different now. he's got twitter. twitter wasn't around in 1987. now all he has to do, hey, boeing, you're in trouble. >> but when it comes to taxpayer money -- >> then go to florida and okay, we're sorry. >> when it comes to taxpayer money, this is a big deal. >> this is billions of dollars. billions of billions, not chump change. >> if there's one thing mr. trump understands, it's the business world. he's saying when i come in there, it's going to be different. it's going to be a new chapter. whether it is dealing with our ally israel or if it's, you

russia, regain some of its power and influence in the world. there are many americans including president obama who said recently that ronald reagan would be rolling over in his grave to see so many republicans and so many americans now open to the idea of doing business with putin. and yesterday putin had a very intriguing response, abby. he said, you know, he thinks that democrats should realize that franklin roosevelt would be rolling over in his grave to see them suffer so many defeats in the recent election. >> on that point about democrats, juan, as a democrat, what do you think about -- abby raised that point, about giving each president a fresh start. even if there are raw feelings about the past election, you have this guy getting on a jetblue flight a couple days ago and accosting ivanka trump and her small children sitting right there. and then you have these hollywood stars saying they're going to do an alternative event. it's a free country, they can do whatever they want, but they want to try to counter donald trump's inaugural ceremony. they want to boycott anybody

all right. we are all about the family traditions. we've been watching christmas home videos with the doocy family all morning long, which has just made our day. but i went home and saw my family a few days ago because we're not able to be with our families this weekend to show just some of our traditions and the chaos that ensues in the huntsman household with dogs and seven kids. >> big family. >> yeah. >> hello! >> hey! >> home for the holidays, so nice. and it makes you think about all the years growing up and the traditions that we have. we do pajamas every christmas eve we open them up together. we stay in them the whole next day. we all kind of jump in bed early together, watch a christmas movie, make cookies. that's what the holidays are for. i have such good memories of being together.

feature these at my latest restaurant on the upper east side. so this cis last-minute dish fo someone who wants to try to do something gingerbread pudding or dumpling. bread and onions, milk and eggs. so you're making almost a bread pudding, not a sweet one. again, you could do sweet if you like, but this is eggs, milk, salt, pepper. >> what kind of bread are you using? >> this is whole wheat. >> and this is a christmas only edition -- >> or winter edition. >> wintertime edition. what is it? >> it's gingerbread men. >> the ginger snaps? >> these are ginger snaps. again, you mix them in, bake them in a rem kin just like this. they're easy, stay warm, reuse them. i like it. an easy dish and underused for -- they should be used every

time of the year, they're not. if you don't have the machine to do it, all you need to do is, you know, cut potatoes. they don't have to be paper thin. and cut french fries type of stuff. and do the same with sthing wit zuccini. again, those can be batched out for the holidays. a couple other dishes we made for breakfast the next day we do scrambled eggs ostrich egg with lobster, called the angry lobster scramble. >> got a lot of people watching college football. >> i know. this is our number one selling side dish at the blt prime in the trump hotel in d.c., which i'm on the way to tonight and tomorrow we're open for both holidays. called couch potatoes. i know it's cute, on a cedar couch by a man hand carved, he made candle holders, i said make me a couch. >> what's on top?

sometimes bitter campaign. and, you know, there's a spirit of fear and apprehension and nervousness is based upon political propaganda. once it wears off, things will begin to normalize. but americans aren't walking around hating each other and just being divided like that. you know, we're still fresh, the results -- especially with the recount and then the electoral college attention that it got. so this election is still fresh in everybody's mind and still causing some polarization, but things will begin to normalize. >> we have a lot of americans still skeptical about president-elect trump. you were one of those folks years ago you said you had an interaction with mr. trump that changed your opinion about him. tell us your story. >> well, i met mr. trump nearly six years ago. and he was requesting prayer. he was deliberating whether or not to run for president in 2012 when he asked a group of ministers to pray for him in private that god would give him wisdom and lead him in the right direction in making his decision. that's a side of donald trump that a lot of people don't see.

we just didn't get out cell phones and take videos of it and post it on social media. but he's been deliberating being president for quite a while. and i got to know him, he's a great guy, charming, gracious, humble, hospitable, not a racist, not misogynistic, i know that donald trump. so it's easy for me to support him. it's easy for me to defend him because i know him. >> so what is your message to those that haven't had the opportunity to get to know him the way you have that are skeptical, that haven't seen that side of him and feel divided right now, especially during this holiday season? what is your message to all those americans out there that are feeling a bit divided right now? >> relax, chill out, take a deep breath. after january 20th, we're going to enter into a great time in america. he's going to be a great president. he's going to work very, very hard. and he's not going to be satisfied simply being a great president or good president. donald trump is going to do everything he can to be the best president america ever had. you're going to find out your fears and worries and concerns and nervousness is unfounded,
