3:00 am
sunday, i'm abby huntsman and we been with shocking new developments as the killer has confessed to his crime and we know the man who has given his gun back weeks before that deadlyshooting spree . clayton: he'sbecome somewhat of an arch nemesis . >> if pocahontas elizabeth warren, she leads the senators that's just about to leave the united states senate in her total tenure. clayton: but dismissing elizabeth warren a.k.a.
3:01 am
pocahontas, says she doesn't get her way, trump's cabinet pick will not take the stand. >>. pete: saturday night live might be off this week but it didn't stop alec baldwin from taking a job jab and trump getting the last laugh. "fox & friends" starts right now. pete: i like long dramatic responses.clayton: i stopped because i thought we were playing saturday night live now but apparentlynot so i like the dramatic response .good morning on sunday morning. abby: on the edge of our seats as we always are. clayton: digging out from the big snowstorm yesterday.
3:02 am
abby: i had no idea it was supposed to snow. you warned usyesterday . clayton: i'm not seeing snow and then sure enough. pete: one of thebest weeks is the wildcard nfl weekend . there's so much entertaining news you have to watch all the sports but on twitter, president-elect donald trump was watching what was happening on media and you see democrats getting excited and upset about the russian packing scandal report and the report on whether or not we were going to get a cozy relationship with russia so donald trump in the snowstorm taking to twitter.
3:03 am
abby: he wasletting us know how he feels about this situation. he said having a good relationship with russia is a good thing, not a badthing. only stupid people or fools would think it is bad. we have enough problems around the worldwithout yet another one. russia will respect us far more than they do now and both countries will perhaps work together to solve many of the countries great and depressing issues of the world . he had me up until he goes with the stupid and the fools. we were talking about this in the makeup room . look, it's a package deal. that's always going to come along with it . pete: is a presidential to call people idiots and fools? when he gets the potus twitter account, will that start happening clayton: we try to rush and reset. russia came in and all the big brains said we will reset russia. that happened to be misspelled when it was had handed over to the russians and we tried that. it utterly failed but it's a
3:04 am
perspective that hillary clinton believed in 2009 could work so this is a interview hillary clinton gave in 2009 . abby: is that the button? pete: she said we're going to hit the reset button and start fresh because clearly the obama administration believes there are not a number of important opportunities that we are being vigorous in our outreach for two turning new pages and resetting buttons and were doing all kinds of efforts to create more partners in fewer adversaries and that's aligns with the trump campwhich it doesn't make sense to have more friends in the world to try to solve the world problems. look at isis . clayton: and when hillary clinton did it, it was because they wanted more friends. barack obama's premise was let's be friends with everybody so donald trump is a reflection of aserious realignment. he says sees radical islamic terrorism as a problem and is addressing that threat. it's been perfectly applied under barack obama but it's a
3:05 am
coherent approach to look at ways in which our interest intersect and not throwing them under the bus right away because they are not completely friends.we know they are not our friends . pete: democrats and republicans have this feeling that maybe that's not the course. they remember the 1980sand that hard line against the russian government and what happened there. i agree with your alignment to fight islamic terrorism but what about democracy taking hold in the world in this role back in democracy in russia is also concerning 's . clayton: it's not the 1980s and barack obama famously said they want their foreign-policy back so it is a realignment based on new sharedinterests that are different than theywere . abby: i think it's hypocrisy because we just show that hillary clinton tape where she trust that reset button. no one seemed to be complaining at this point. you don't get the opportunity to press the reset button. people are heading back for doing the exact same thing so
3:06 am
i think every incoming president deserves that opportunity to do things their way , to see things as different . pete: you mentioned democracy, his focus has definitely been on civility. he's taking a different approach. we tried the democracy project in the middle east, it hasn't worked so let's look atrealigning ourselves with nefarious characters who are going to keep their thumb on islamic terrorism . clayton: this week we got this confirmation hearing and it's not going to be an easy road forpresident-elect trump if elizabeth warren gets her way. she tweeted this yesterday. these are the cabinet hearings coming up and she said the office of government ethics wrote me with great concern about the gop's confirmation hearing. cabinet officials must put our countries interest before their own. no hearing should be held until we are certain that's the case . pete: the government office of government ethics reviews cabinet members as they go through.
3:07 am
there's an unprecedented amount of wealthy individuals without a lot of government experience going into trump's cabinet which a lot of people believe this is a big plus area but this is how the swap works.so schumer and elizabeth warren requested a letter from the government of all this takes. he's an obama donor who then gives them letters saying we are behind the curve. it's allpart of the distraction to try to discredit them .abby: on the service you read it and this is all about ethics but then you dig a little deeper and you see how political this is at the end of the day. here was trump talking about elizabeth warren . >> this pocahontas elizabeth warren, she is probably the senator that's doing just about the least in the united states senate . she's a total failure. she hasn't done anything. this elizabeth warren, she's a disaster. she's got nothing going. she's got these citizens represented by pocahontas. represented by pocahontas. she's terrible.
3:08 am
she is just a terrible person. i'll make you a deal. you can have pocahontas, i'll take tom brady and bill belichick. abby: great to have some bad blood leading up to this so no surprise to that going on. pete: he's had meetings with worstpeople and brought them into his cabinet . clayton: ms. warren telling the new york times, one of the article is senate to push trump's pics, someone vetted. how do we know who these people are? abby: but before, they were moving fast enough. tooslow. you can'twin, people . pete: it all adds up to let's make him look bad . abby: something we can agree on is theweather.
3:09 am
it's been crazy, it's been extreme. a storm turning deadly killing five people. snow and freezing rainturning roads into disaster zones, causing hundreds of crashes including a 30 car pileup in connecticut . watch as this suv goes sliding across sideways . clayton: you don't want to go sideways when you are driving. rick is tracking that storm. do we see in north carolina huge pilot too? >> we missed on this across georgia, kids in georgia thinking they were going to wait on's on saturday with a lot of snow. we had more in new york city than we thought but cold air is in place now. that means it's not melting anytime soon and tomorrow when you go to work, the roads will be very icy because what does melt a little bit due to the friction of tires is going to freeze a lot so be careful as you are heading out. this wind coming out of the north in the last 24 hours has settled across florida.
3:10 am
you are 36 degrees cooler than you were yesterday at this time. 41 degrees in tampa right now.it is very cold. that's tonight low so by tomorrow morning. go into tuesday morning, we are still cold but wednesday the warm air comes back and we see a 40 degrees temperature swing across the eastern's seaboard so the snow will be gone quickly. that's what's left of the snow storm, a little bit of lake effect snow and we will turn our attention to the west because major rain and snowcoming in across california. we've been talking about this drought outthere for years in california. there is a series of storms that might completely bust that drought. in the process, we might be watching massive flooding going on across central california . clayton: you would probably take it to get rid of this drought . abby: thank you rick. now to headlines and a fox news alert. new information coming in and out of that fort lauderdale airport attack which left five people dead.

abby: we are back with a fox news alert, breaking overnight a killer's stunning confession clayton: the man behind the airport massacre admitting to the murderous rampage. stephen harrigan is live outside florida hospital with brand-new details in this horrifying attack . good morning steve. reporter: 20 the 26-year-old shooter is cooperating with authorities, he's given several hours of interviews and we are learning more about him. he is admitting the a taxi carried out on friday at fort lauderdale international airport was deliberate.
3:34 am
he says he brought a one-way ticket from alaska to florida, checked one bag and inside that bag a nine millimeter walter semi automatic pistol. the only thing he checked he intended to come here and kill. he told authorities he was deliberately taking head shots, something the video footage taken from the airport confirms. even passersby and eyewitnesses say this was a methodical killer. he fired roughly 15 rounds, pausing to reload a second clip area and out of those 15 shots he managed to kill five people, wounded six more. some of those wounded still in the hospital behind me,
3:35 am
two of those wounded shot point-blank in the face so this was a methodical killer trying to take headshot and take down as many people as possible. many of those senior citizens here for cruises. still a mystery surrounding this case, why did he do it? what was the motivation and why in florida? officials notruling out any link to terrorism but they say the shooter operated alone. he will make his first court appearance monday. this will be the first federal case since the shooting happened at the airport and he could be facing the death penalty. back to you. clayton: thank you . abby: disturbing details there. new headlines to get to, print the president-elect will not be meeting with the taiwanese president during her upcoming visit to the us. beijing keeping a close eye on trump's team to see if he will further engage in a place that china considers its territory. tweeting this yesterday, i look forward to meeting prime minister theresa may in washington in the spring. britain, a longtime us ally, is very special.

bowl is obviously the academy awards. first up is best picture and i love the golden globes, the idea that they can split up between drama and musical comedy and "moonlight" will take home the award tonight. it's one of the most powerful tones i've seen in a while. i think this cast is so incredible that they will go on to win the sag ensemble award as well but tonight, this will take home best picture and best drama but keep an eye out for "hacksaw ridge" which is also one of the best films of last year aswell, the mel gibson film about world war ii . clayton: i haven't seen this "la la land" and you love it. best picture, musical or comedy? kevin: damien should sell will take home best director but this is a musical comedy, it's going to take home the award. in my opinion i'm hopingfor a dead pool orsing street surprise . abby: it was hilarious . kevin: my best friend

3:48 am
when americans see we are spending money on aid to mexico, we have a president-elect who said mexico will pay for the wall he's going to build, what do you say about how we can influence their ability to paper the wall? >> there is various ways. mexico is responsible for the illegal immigration problem we are having because it's their border that people are crossing. we must understand that billions of dollars that are related to mexico and other nations by illegal aliens as well as legal residence but mostly illegal aliens sending back to their country. if we put a 10 percent tax or fee on those remittances, we would be able to pay. the second thing we should do is also , the amount of foreign aid that we send to these countries, what we need to do is also curtailed that foreign aid and use that for border security, particularly in those countries like mexico where they encourage
3:49 am
illegal immigration . pete: border security, a lot of that 400 million dollars that we send is for strengthening border security and counter drug operations which up until this point unfortunately have been ineffectual but i want to talk about the remittances, the money that illegal or legal immigrants send back to their families. we got the numbers we are going to put up on the screen from 2015 and 2016, those are bignumbers. 1.6, $1.9 billion in 2015 and 2.4 billion in 2016, that's a 20 percent increase and you say that money going back is staying out of the us economy but if we put a tax on it, that's a handsome amount of money that could be added to paying for a portion of that wall . >> that's correct. there is a study that was done by a think tank that showed that all we need to do is put a 10 percent fee on those remittances going out from western union or any other medium that's utilized. if they did that, we would

have more than enough money to pay for the wall . pete: critics of mister trump say that because he's looking at potentially appropriating money upfront to pay for the wall, that he's going back on his pledge, that he's not going to have mexico pay for it. what do you save to the critics that are saying that? >> they are paying for the wall because the money that is going to mexico, these billions of dollars, that's the money that we are tracking and using to build the wall so it is their money that were going to be using. pete: not tomention the president-elect onthe campaign trailsaid we would have to spend some upfront but we will recoup it to make sure it's a value neutral proposition. thankyou for joining us this morning, i appreciate your expertise . coming up, hollywood gets emotional . >> i never tried before . >> i heard our president say climate change is the most important issue, it was

8, i'm abby huntsman and this is a fox news alert. the man behind the fort lauderdale airport massacre admitting to mark that murderous rampage and we now know the man who has voices in his head wasgiven his gun back just before thatdeadly shooting spree . clayton: celebrities cannot help themselves . >> i never cried before except election results when i was at the un, i heard our president say that climate change is the most important

issue acing not only this generation but all future generations, it was inspiring. >> when i was at the un, i cried. the hollywood elite bid farewell to president obama and one last fawning video. how would you like the inauguration withthe farm overall? wait till you receive the responses he is getting here, they are total winners . "fox & friends" part to start right now. [music] abby: now i really want to know. pete: i did notice your socks , craig is wearing a sock we got forfree yesterday because he's a very economical guy . abby: he wore them yesterday too. pete: one is insideout . clayton: i didn't know that, thanks for pointing that out on national television . reporter: i'mjust glad i got here . abby: we are glad you are wearing socks at least . reporter: the last time you

were making fun of my long ties, have you gotten any shorter? clayton: we got comments about the rent couch, people are making comments about that. he put his heal up on it and it written down. look at that. abby: i'm not even going to show you the pillow i am sitting on. clayton: the couches off-white the but the pillow is not so it looksdirty . pete: democrats upset this morning because of what's unfolding between russia and president-elect donald trump. it has been a long-standing tradition in this country that it seems like they are an adversary going back to the 1980s and then we had 2009, hillary clinton and
4:03 am
president obama and the russian reset but donald trump is getting hot under the collar on saturday, he took to twitter and unleashed a jury of tweets. abby: giving youa sense of what he really thinks, this is what we did yesterday. having a good relationship with russia is a good thing, not a bad thing. only stupid people or pool with think it is bad. we have problems around the world enough without another one. russia will respect us far more than they do now and both countries will perhaps work together to solve many of the great and pressing problems and issues of the world . clayton: mister trump saying as mister trump would and being aggressive against critics but what he's trying to say is, this isn't just a flippant thingfor him.
4:04 am
he wants a strategic realignment russia has interests that intersect with ours. he wantsmore stability as opposed to democracy promotion and his policies have signaled thatso he's saying don't tell me to be an adversary before i come into office.i really do want a real reset as opposed to the manufactured button that hillary clinton hit . pete: this is what democrats have been saying for the past five years or so. the russian reset, here was the button . abby: an actual button . pete: i guess they got it from spencer's gifts or something like that. clayton: alec baldwin's hat wasn't misspelled to . abby: what happened after they press that button? pete: here's what hillary clinton had to say about this, see if this sounds similar to what donald trump had to say. were going to hit reset and start fresh because clearly the obama administration believes there are a number of important areas to discuss
4:05 am
with the russians but also opportunities and we are being vigorous in our outreach. we are resetting buttons and doing all kindsof efforts to create more partners and fewer adversaries . clayton: when you hear reset button because you want to be friends with somebody, just because you want to be friends doesn't mean you have a strategic ability to do so dissented from there. we had the 2011 election , putin, you've got ukraine, syria, always we became adversaries because it never really was based on a strategic respect that obama or clinton had, trump is saying i really have a reason why i don't want to heat see him as an adversary . >> hehas a tall order deal with and now we have this intelligence report on friday that says they tried to influence our election. it didn't have anything to do with president trump, it was all to undermine clinton but if you are trying to be friends with someone you want
4:06 am
to make sure . clayton: keep your friends close . pete: friends close and enemies closer.abby: there are a lot of people that agree with that. when you look at how vladimir putin has handled things over the last eight years and donald trump using theword fool in histweets, he has the upper hand at this point. he's been able to get away with so much. he's the one that's winning right now! so for mister trump to say let's press that reset button again, let me try to do it my way, we should see what happens here clayton: he's playing the better hand, putin is right now. abby: more coming in, hearings set for nine of president-elect trumps cabinet members this week . pete: elizabeth warren gearing for a big fight. elizabeth is in washington dc with the latest, good morning . reporter: the hearings are beginning tuesday. senators will be questioning jeff sessions, the nominee for attorney general and john kelly, the pick for homeland security secretary along with
4:07 am
other heavy hitters . the secretary of state directs teller sin, his choice foreducation. urban development and labor secretary as well as representative mike pompeo who is picked to lead the cia. elizabeth warren are bulging at the speed at which things are moving. she says select committees have not received financial disclosures for some pics for congress. taking to twitter she wrote in part, this is ridiculous. he wrote to donald trump , nominees dragged their feet on ethics paperwork. they tried to run out the clock. the director of office of government ethics responding to senator warrenwrote in a letter calendar is of great concern to me. on the other side of the aisle the resources with reports that say clearance of ethics processes can be completed before, during or after the hearing and if you remember whenpresident obama took office in 2009, warren and half a dozen cabinet nominees went through

confirmation on hisfirst day in office and by the end of the week , obama had been. abby: thank you. pete: you're getting allyour golden globe information together. abby: not everyone is excited about this . clayton: thepress thinks donald trump may loom over the golden globes .pete: he looms over everything but we seem failed awards show where the jokes have fallen flat . clayton: and from america . abby: this coming from the associated press, the transition on the minds of hollywood is the one taking place in washington on january 20, the election of donald trump has loomed over the award season where the movie seasonscongratulatory toasting has been mixed with aforeboding sense of dread . abby: pete: that's so sad . abby: there was a big party at the white house, it was a big farewell bash , all the celebrities were there . abby: manyof them were in tears about this upcoming election .clayton: all the speeches at the golden globes, the dripping speeches about how the world is going to end . the ratings have been going

down because of that. you want to watch actors, you don't want to your politics that's my prediction. pete: this video is sort of an mlm nation if you will. i don't know ifi use it properly in this context but in putting these together, this was a look back at president obama and the way he inspired people . >> knocking on the oval office window, i would say that was probably the feet of my entireexistence. >> i never cried before from election results . >> you felt thosefirst three words of the constitution and one of those first times in my life that i felt like i was part of that we . >> the moments that we got the affordable care act and i have relatives that can't afford health insurance so it was really a great thing to know that nothing happened to get health care for them. >> when he changed all the rules on the table in regards to cuba, with the most

succinct motivation imaginable which is what we've been doing hasn't worked. which made all the sense in the world-class when i was at the un and i heard our president say that climate change is the most important issue facing not onlythis generation but future generations, it was inspiring . pete: i love that piano music. i do agree with jerry seinfeld, getting to do a comedy by knocking on the oval office window, that was pretty funny. that was good, i agree with that part . clayton: i'm not sad when celebrities are sad but we want to know what you know. how do you feel aboutthe serenading of celebrities to the obama white house . abby: we have headlines to get to and a fox news alert, brand-new information in the fort lauderdale airport attack which left five people dead, 26-year-old estaban santiago charged withmultiple felonies, facing the death penalty after confessing to

the shooting rampage . this at the former national gardens brother is blaming the fbi for letting him slip through the cracks. we now know the agency said iago his gun back despite his delusional claims the fbi was forcing him to watch isis videos. terrorism is not being ruled out. to another fox news alert, a truck renting right into a group of soldiers, killing at least three and injuring 15 in jerusalem, according to reuters. here's a live look at the scene where police are calling it a deliberate attack area there are reports
4:12 am
that soldiers opened fire on the truck driver, police sing the suspect is dead and we will continue to update this tory as more details unfold. a manhunt underway at this hour for a gunman tried to assassinate a us consular official in mexico. christopher ashcraft was leaving and jim in broad daylight when the shooter followed him. moments later that gunman opened fire, striking him in the chest before running away ashcraft, a foreign service officer on his first posting with the us state department is in stable condition. the fbi offering a $20,000 reward for information on that attacker. and dc's first snowfall of the year not stopping our nation's heroes from standing guard. a beautiful site. the old guard undaunted by the conditions at the tomb of the unknown . every tombstone decoratedwith a wreath all thinking are fox and friends viewers for helping raise those funds. joe biden, two weeks ago it is so beautiful to see, just

a wreath at every single tombstone, it is so powerful . pete: an update on that second story read in jerusalem, a friend of mine texted me as you are reading it for killed, three women apparently, one boy and 15 wounded. the truck ran into a group of soldiers in jerusalem so it appears a deliberate terrorist attack. coming up,president obama set to free more suspects from gitmo and they include the worst of the worst area we are telling you who'sleft and who's being let out . these are some seriously bad dudes. should republicans repeal obama care without a replacement? it's a battle brewing on capitol hill. kelly has ideas about it live in pittsburgh . we will see. clayton: showdown brewing over obamacare. it will it be the first thing on the chopping block for the new congress? and what is the plan to replace it?pete: joining us now is pennsylvania congressman mike kelly, a member ofthe house ways and means committee who has jurisdiction over health care reform. obamacare is a hot topic, how to repeal it, when to repeal it, what to replace it with ? what's your perspective? >> we are starting to repeal as we talk. vice president-electpens came into our congress and he was clear about this. he said we make promises and were going to eat those promises. versus repeal andreplacement of obamacare and that's the mission we are on and where you're going to see it happen very quickly .
4:18 am
pete: the argument is you have no plan and if you look at the kaiser family : obamacare, 40 percent want to see it repealed, 47 percent of americans don't want it repealedand 20 percent say congress should vote to repeal and replace later on so what is the plan when you move that gap? the big concern is the gap. you get rid of it and there's a space in between . >> first of all, do we have a plan? we've had a plan. something called the better way we've had for a long time now and anyone can take a look at it and see what our plans are but i want people to understand so this is clear. the plan you are on right now, you're not going to lose it on january 21 because mister trump was sworn into office. this idea that the rug is going to be pulled out from under you is another one of those whoppers. growing up i was told don't make promises you can't keep and number two, don't lie to people. when you like the people you
4:19 am
break that trust. we've been lied to for eight years andit was never true when the president said if you have a doctor you like you can keep them. if your premiums are going to go down, nothing could be further from the truth. republicansare going to change that. they're not going to do that for the good of republicans, they're going to do that for the american people. were going to keep that promise . abby: that cadillac tax, you want to repeal that . >> sure, because when you look at the cadillac tax, on a cadillac dealer but the cadillac tax, listen, now i'm a congressman. i was happy doing both by the way but the cadillac tax was aimed at thoseemployers who provided what the obama administration said was overly generous health care package for their associates. the cadillac tax was them , those employers who put in place that health care package as overly generous, were going to have a 40 percent excise tax on it if
4:20 am
you continue to do that. nothing is more un-american than telling people look, you are treating your employees to good. you're treating your associates too good. if the cost exceeded 10,200, 40 percent tax. for a family, 27,500 if it went beyond that. why would you take away some hard-working american people a healthcare cac package picked up by their employer, not by taxpayers. pete: the question really on capitol hill right now is the promises made to repeal obamacare on day one but the exact legislation which takes time may not be ready on day one so is there a split in the caucus? are there people saying we wait a week or two before we repeal it so we have something to replace it with right away because that gap is something people are concerned about i understand thatbut i want to go back, the gap is there because were going to do something thoughtful. it has to be affordable and accessible and it has to be sustainable.

the competition is what drives a better product in the lower price and makes it better for the american people . clayton: great to see you this morning. 1:0 5 pm, he will be watching. >> go steelers. clayton: he got it in. president obama set the free more suspects from gitmo and they include the worst of the worst, a former army officer who served it gitmo shows us who's left and who's being let out and these are some bad dudes. >> serving all your motorcycle insurance needs. now, that's progressive.

he can be cleared to go . >> but putting the first team back in the game. and all dual sorrow, he was a fanatic. he was raised in saudi arabia, has pakistani citizenship. he threatened to cut off i had and led disturbances at guantcamo. he held speeches telling prisoners to fight against infidels and kill all americans, men, women and children and babies. pete: you and i were both there. these are folks that want to kill americans and are what to go back and try to do so and were going to release as many aswe can these four, because of their skills, experience and disposition, they could successfully lead and inspire others against operations against our allies . >> which is why mister trump says we shouldn't close smoke
