confidence. clayton: they have something else going on. pete: called laziness. abby: you said we are still celebrating in new york. clayton: i just like the music. i get if there are no storms out there and you -- snow storms and can't get up on the roof. let us know what your thoughts are. you know what. pete: this is the last weekend that barack obama will be in the white house. last saturday. clayton: a lot of people are in denial, particularly democrats. they don't understand that next week is the inauguration and that there is going to be a new president. a lot of these democrats, a long list now coming out and the latest one is representative john lewis of georgia saying he considers donald trump to be an illegitimate president. listen to what he had to say. >> i believe in forgiveness. i believe in working with people. it's a little bit hard. it's going to be very

difficult. i don't see president-elect as a legitimate president: i think the russians participated in helping this man get elected. and they have destroyed the candidacy of hillary clinton. i don't plan to attend the inauguration. it will be the first one that i have missed since i have been in the congress. you cannot be at whole with something that you feel that is wrong. clayton: put some context there. he is a long storied civil rights leader. member of congress from georgia. abby: also has a track record by the way you heard this statement. this is not the first we have heard him talk like this. remember when george w. bush won in 2001. he was saying that some of us think that al gore won the election. we have heard this from him before. patty pete he was one of those testifying against jeff sessions.

not necessarily fully a partisan guy. someone who is definitely looking at the racial aspect of a lot of this and playing that heavily. this is part of what the left has done from the beginning delegitimize. profit the jill stein recount the electoral college. the russian interference. comey and the fbi. some reasons why. clayton: add this to the list. here is a list of people who are going to skip the inauguration next week. john lewis the latest there. look at this long, long list. some of these names. pete: you know what the long, long list contains. four representatives from california. two from new york and then massachusetts, oregon, illinois. you have left-wing states where they're not going to accept the legitimacy and they're trying to muddy the waters. abby: they will show up. pete: maybe the real story is they wrbility able to get tickets. abby: that could be true. clayton: i'm going to boycott it anyway. abby: neil cavuto did a great rant at the end of his show. anyone boycotting this

inauguration is not about who is stepping in next president. the inauguration is with this country. it is about the american people it is about america. be an american. you know what? regardless of whether you support all of his policies or not like, i don't know, it's frustrating. clayton: during the debate do you remember when donald trump was asked a question by chris wallace on whether or not he would accept the outcome of the election and there was outrage from the left when he said. this watch. >> i'm not saying that you are necessarily going to be the loser or the winner but the loser concedes to the winner and that the country comes together in part for the good of the country. are you saying you are not prepared now to commit to that principle? >> what i'm saying is i will tell you at the time. i will keep new suspense. >> chris, let me respond to that because that's horrifying. every time donald thinks things are not going in his direction, he claims whatever it is rigged against him. abby: how ironic what we are seeing. she used the word rigged

against him and seeing it play out in the last few weeks. it's a week away, next saturday for the inauguration. we are still hearing more excuses as to why he is illegitimate next president of the united states. pete: so prepared to indict him for not accepting her legitimacy that when he won, they are unhinged in their ability to not recognize him. they haven't gone through the stages of grief. they are stuck in denial. they are stuck in saying. clayton: that's a great way to look at it. pete: they had the time. clayton: passing the buck. i always like people to blame everybody else for their problems. they always want to point the finger, scapegoat everyone else. instead look interriblely and have a serious postmortem about what happened in this election. abby: that's a great segue way into this next point we are going to get to. you said taking the blame. we talk about hillary clinton and the emails. whose fault is it at the end of the day. so debbie wasserman schultz. and there was a meeting yesterday on capitol hill with the fbi director james comey. and it got pretty heated,

especially at one point. clayton: this was behind the scenes. clandestine meeting. classified. so, members of the house go in and sit down with james comey. he starts off this meeting. we now know, by saying i am tone deaf to politics and then he dives into. meanwhile, when he says that we learned from these reports that all the democrats in the room just started looking at each other scoffing. you are tone deaf to politics. debbie wasserman schultz at one point grandstands for five minutes. democrats are yelling at her to stop. she is complaining. she is complaining that my emails were hacked and i lost my job as a result? pete: talk to the guy on both sides james comey. he walked in russian involvement tried to give a classified briefing to what you said, clayton. there were people booing her down. she was yelling at him so adamantly people were like sit down. because it turns out, guess what, what she should be angry about is so much of what she did. there is no intraspeculation. no one wants hacking. no one wants their emails

out there. no one left or right is supportive of that. but, when you understand what debbie wasserman schultz did which was put her finger on the scales hillary clinton against bernie sanders. she could have said well i could have played this straighter. abby: these emails -- this is how this played out when the democrats walked out of this meeting yesterday. it got really uncomfortable. they explain sort of what happened. watch this. all i can say is that my confidence and ability of the fbi director to lead this agency through the troubled times that lie ahead has been shaken. glbleg we have votes now. >> how do you feel it went? great. >> congressman, can you tell us anything about the discussion in the room? >> . no it's classified and we can't tell you anything. all i can tell you is the fbi director has no

credibility. that's it. >> we know a lot yesterday from that meeting. classified and yet all the leaks from the meeting. >> surprising that happens. >> they also felt there was a double standard and one of the questions asked of james comey was is there an equal level of investigating going on as to the russian hacking or the team trump teaming up with the russians was one of the questions. we feel that there was a double standard that you wanted to undermine hillary clinton here. where's the double standard? is there equality across the board here? abby: you could make the argument because you said james comey has been hated by both sides. you could say that's all the reasons why he is not political. he said in that meeting i don't make my decisions based on the timing of it i don't think of it in terms of being a week before the election. i do what i think is right for the country. to your point, whether it's republicans or democrats at one point in the past year he has been hated. clayton: you can't be politically tone deaf. here we they're many weeks after the election and they are still blaming james

putin soon after taking office. with under a week until is he officially sworn in, what is the right approach to take with russia. here to discuss former cia officer buck sexton. how are you doing? >> good to see you, pete. pete: what is the right approach here. >> for russia and the sanctions, all of the above. pete: yes. >> isn't it amazing they have to tell us this before they come into office. when you are talking about sanctions this is a tool, right? this is supposed to get a change in behavior from vladimir putin's russia. it's not out of spite. it's not supposed to just be a punishment. putin and russia aren't supposed to be sent into the corner indefinitely. the whole idea behind this is to get russia to, in some case, change their behavior with regard to crimea, ukraine, syria. now because of what happened with the election, there is sort of a peter -- period of time where they are looking at this we need to get some agreement with russia going. the notion that donald trump would try to do something to achieve that or would change things in regard to sanctions because of a change in russian behavior

>> plane crash was tragic and the trump team loves to say merry christmas. how many times can you call in attacks against the russian ambassador. >> you don't think it's trying to put sanctions on russia for possible hacking to have the president-elect who is not even in office yet, one of his people reach out and do the exact opposite of what the united states is trying to do? that's not problematic to you? >> he can't reach out on january 21st or 22nd or 23rd? he is not the president now. pete: is this a real critique or discrediting hey he shouldn't be doing this now? >> the phone call is interesting to me because i want to know how a u.s. official knew that general flynn made this call to a russian ambassador in the first place. pete: interesting. you are saying the revelation of the phone call itself is telling? >> let's think about this for a second. you have one person calling another person. i'm assuming there is no press in the room at the time who happened to be passing by. obviously the timing of this is the one issue that seems to perhaps discredit or cast

aspersions upon general flynn. it does seem a bit strange coming from unnamed senior u.s. official that a contact from a u.s. citizen to russian ambassador on the phone was known this way. all of that said, we don't know what the content of the call was. there is nothing strange about somebody who is about to become the national security advisor reaching out to a future russian counterpart around the holidays, i might add, to speak to him. i don't know what was said there, and the media is running -- they are talking about the logan act, pete. do you know how many people have been. we are going with the big doughnut hole. the press is running with that but not going to get too far. pete: a lot of hot air. buck sexton, appreciate it. less than a week away from donald trump's inauguration. democrats still can't accept the fact that he won. >> i don't think -- i don't see the president-elect as a

encouraging russia to hack into our electoral process, cheerleading them on. and the idea that whatever information these members of congress are getting out of this classified briefing had them storm out of that room makes it very clear that the decisions that the fbi made that were unprecedented to get involved in the election against hillary clinton, pick a winner, pick a loser when they had so much information that was so damaging. what have we been talking about since this man was allegedly elected? pete: allegedly elected? you acknowledge that he achieved the necessary electoral votes and is legitimately elected president of the united states. would you not? >> well, i haven't seen the classified briefing that the members of congress did. i imagine that i would have run out myself. i don't think it's clear to people now. clayton: would you not work with him as a legitimate president? >> look, as the democratic

party's job right now is to work with the majority of the american people who have given us a mandate to build a resistance against a that donald trump is trying to put into place. and that that's our responsibility right now to build an opposition party to give the majority of the american people a voice. abby: jehmu, you look at this election up and down the ballots. this will go down as one of the biggest losses for the democratic party. you have to say going forward is that really the answer? is that going to win elections with that message? >> look, building a resistance to donald trump's administration is a part of what the democratic party needs to do. we also needs to inspire with our ideas. we need to deliver results on issues that matter. there's an opportunity here to transform the party. there is an opportunity to connect more with the young people who believe in our values and support our policies. but aren't turning out to support us. there is an opportunity.

and i think that's really important in that debate that's going to happen as the dnc elects its leadership is crucial. but we cannot as a key factor for the majority of the american people who are looking for resistance to this administration step down on that goal. pete: are the majority of the american people really looking for resistance to this administration or are they willing to give donald trump a chance even if they didn't vote for him for the betterment of this country? when they step out on day one going to oppose and try to obstruct the new president who won legitimately, doesn't that bring you down a peg? how does that make you part of the solution? and is that really what you are selling? is there no introspection at all about the fact that you lost and maybe you need to speak more truly to the aspirations of the american people? >> i think what i'm saying is absolutely speaking truth to power. and when you look at the fact that -- let's just say 200 buses have applied for permits for donald trump's

inauguration. 1200 have applied for permits for the woman's march which is taking place the next day. i think that speaks volumes about where the majority of americans think this presidency is heading and what they want to see from the opposite party. lay clay all all in favor of opposition. no one wants a one party system. obstructionist to donald trump's presidency or claiming is he illegitimate president is not helpful. when you look at what unfolded in western pennsylvania, west virginia. turning, this party does not speak for me anymore. i'm voting for donald trump. that's a huge problem for the dnc, no? >> look, we have an opportunity to invest in states where our base is growing, even if the electoral impact isn't immediate. but on the obstruction point that you mentioned, where was that conversation when

>> reporter: especially when it comes to new york. i get flynn 50% of the time. pete: deadly storm icing over the central u.s. overnight. freezing rain knocking out power. forcing the kansas chief playoff game over fears of ice conditions. that was a game everyone wanted to watch. causing hundreds of car crashes. abby: dramatic video. a semi running a plow off the highway. the plow plumbing 300 feet into a ditch. luckily that driver is expected to be okay. pete: how, i'm not sure. rick reichmuth has the latest on the icy blast. good morning, rick. rick: this is really intense storm across the central part of the country. interstate 40 and interstate 70 likely impassable through the much of the day tomorrow and monday as well. take a look at the map. let me show you what's going on. kind of this pattern not allowing this storm to move.

that's why we see this becoming a multiday event. likely areas of the panhandle of texas through oklahoma into kansas, missouri, illinois and eventually by late sunday into monday up across parts of nebraska and into iowa as well. some spots probably over an inch of ice. that is ice that accumulates on every surface. every road. every car. every tree and power line because of that, we are going to see major tree damage and a lot of power outages all across the area. this continues for a number of days. this is kind of the way this plays out. cold air is in place at the surface and then the warm air comes out on top. you end up getting it to just freeze right at the very bottom. once it makes landfall or once it lands on the ground and you see here where you have that purple that is an ice storm warning. a lot of territory there and a lot of big cities under this warning for multiday event. guys? abby: hoping everyone stays safe. thank you, rick. other headlines this morning. violent outburst causes chaos in mid-air grounding a

abby: welcome back. a government watchdog announcing an investigation into how the fbi and the justice department handled hillary clinton's email case. what is not in that probe. well, that meeting between attorney general loretta lynch and former president bill clinton at the phoenix airport back in june. we all remember that. well, hillary clinton was under investigation. clayton: former dade county circuit judge, judge pharrell joins us now. why was that left out? >> like you, i always wonder when i hear about an investigation like this maybe they know something we are not aware of. and they are not jumping to any conclusion. generally, as a rule, i like

more investigation into government. i think that any time there's smoke, it should be looked into. and in this case there are a couple things. one thing weighs in favor of the inspector general's action and one against. they are not just investigating michael comey who i think did the right thing. i think he was in an impossible position, having told congress under oath the investigation was over. i think it was incumbent upon him to deviate from the typical rule and tell congress, you know what? i told you under oath it was over. it's not over. however, they are not just investigating comey. they are also investigating peter can a zig high ranking member of the department of justice who apparently leaked nonpublic information to the clinton campaign. so it seems at least appearance wise it seems like it's a balanced investigation into whether anything went wrong. it does, however, beg the question. why aren't they looking into loretta lynch's actions because that really was a flaming impropriety. pete: of course. right in the middle of it. donald trump chimed in on this and he tweeted this

bill, what's called the reconciliation bill and why that's important, it only takes 51 votes in the senate instead of the typical 50 votes. so democrats have historically blocked bills to repeal obamacare. so with this one unique opportunity through budget reconciliation, we can actually move a bill through the house and senate to president trump's desk that ducks obamacare and, oh, by the way, we've included defunding of planned parenthood. and that bill is going to get to president trump's desk, which he will sign that finally stops and ends obamacare. >> we've been hearing in the past weeks the continuation of the obama legacy. we don't want to see obamacare go away because obama's legacy will fall apart. do you buy that argument? >> you know, what's a shame about that argument is that president obama seems more concerned with preserving this failed element of his legacy than actually fulfilling all the broken promises of obamacare. if you remember, president obama said if you like what you have, you can keep it. broken promise. he said health care plans

intermediary period? >> yeah. and that's why we've put a transition plan. there is a transition in our bill that we sent to president obama. remember, a year and a half ago we put a similar bill on barack obama's desk, of course he vetoed it. even that bill included a transition period. so nobody's going to get the rug pulled out from under them. but this starts with what we call the rescue mission. there is going to be help coming for american families who can't take all of the burdens of obamacare, the high cost, even people that are on some of these obamacare plans don't like it because in in m cases they can't find a doctor and their costs are so dramatically high and their deduct abdominals are high. that's not coverage. there is a better way. we're going to start working on that in the weeks ahead when donald trump is finally sworn in as president next week. >> so it will be a busy 100 days for sure. congressman, we appreciate you joining us this morning. thanks so much. >> great being with you. >> well, president obama continues his farewell tour by taking a parting shot at us, fox news. >> some commentators on fox news i think created an
