terms of the numbers but symbolism, we haven't seen from members of the house in a very long time, certainly not in these numbers. we are now just 31 hours till president-elect trump becomes president trump, already street closures around dc, just one of the hundreds of things on the checklist not only from a security standpoint but a crowd management standpoint. so many are descending here on dc. across the city there's no scale fencing that's been put up not only parade group but the key protestors out, you can see the finishing touches there on the capitol where the inauguration will actually happen. last night. [cheers and applause] >> there he is, mr. trump made a quick visit to dc for two dinners and dropped by the trump ohio tell for surprise. much of his inaugural address is written but he didn't give away

any hints when he tweeted a picture of himself. this from twitter account, writing my inaugural address in mar-a-lago three weeks ago, looking toward to friday, #inauguration. at least 68 democrats from congress won't be there to see the speech. >> what message would you send to democrats to better demonstrate the peaceful transfer of power in. >> with respect to the inauguration, i'm not going to comment on those issues, all i know that i'm going to be there. >> well, the vice president shall we say stuck a slightly different tone. >> he is determined to be president of all of the people of the united states, we respect the opinions of every mesh and their right to express their opinions. i hope those folks will turn to the president elect's words in

>> you know, personally if i were a member of congress, i think it's a bad move. at the end of the day, come tomorrow, 31 hours as we said at the top of the show, president-elect trump will be president trump and members of congress will still be members of congress and they are going to have to work with president trump in some way, shape or form. it's each branch of government's obligation to govern for the best interest of the people of the united states of america and, i think, it would behoove both elected officials as well as more importantly the people of the united states if democrats and republicans, president trump and members of congress focused on policy and governing rather than getting into these, you know, mud fights that is seemingly happening. heather: joe, it doesn't necessarily help when the current president of the united states says, i think we are going to be okay and says i can't speak to people not going, i can only say that i will be there. >> right, recall that he and nancy pelosi and harry peed back

in september, october were saying that we must all respect the outcome of the election as legitimate, now suddenly they are not lecturing anyone today. the best thing that donald trump could do and really members to have cabinet and republicans at large would be ignore the 66 diagram contracts that are choosing not to come to the inauguration. if they don't want to come and rain on my parade, that's even better. what they're doing is really petty and meaningless and if you need evidence of that, you have to remember that it took the media four days to even remember that john lewis himself and others did this four years ago. this is a one day where members of both parties in an entire four-year presidential cycle, members of both parties come together and put differences aside and respect the peaceful transfer of power. this is theth inauguration we are having and disgrace. heather: response from the media would be the same if republicans were doing this? >> you know, it's hard to say, i mean, i think that certainly if the tables were turned and

hillary clinton was elected president of the united states or even if this happened in some kind of a -- heather: you think they wouldn't show up? >> i think that the media would have, you know, cried bloody murder over to be honest but, you know, i think at the end of the day members of congress have a right for peaceful protest. do i think it's good for the nation, no, i do not. heather: and less important what do you think capri about all of the celebrities that aren't coming? >> well, you know, i really don't care. [laughter] >> you know, celebrities mean nothing to the government of the nation, i'm sure it'll be a wonderful event this week and i guess a bunch of celebrities during the proprotest over the weekend, they will still descend upon washington. heather: it's supposed to be about people anyway. >> donald trump really should look at this as the first day of four-year relationship with the

in tomorrow morning. i think maybe sprinkles 8:00 a.m., take note if you're coming down here. that's continuous on and off throughout the day. parade is going to be rainy. keep in mind, otherwise in other news, temperatures warmer than average across the southern u.s., we have the frontal boundary that's draped across the mid atlantic down towards texas. you can see where the temperatures are warmer than average and cooler temperatures north of that boundary. so places across the northern rockies, northwest, we are dealing with a lot of snow and ice. let's take a look at the radar the last 24 hours, the big story for the u.s. is going to be the rain and snow over the west coast. we are talking about inches of rain and feet of snow and even though they need it, it's beneficial, it'll cause problems like flash flooding and avalanche threats.

jobs to be particular here, also there's wage issue, 19 billion in lost wages every year because of obamacare. now, they looked at companies that have 20 and 99 employees, the biggest losses that we have saw as far as wage, florida, ohio, texas, pennsylvania, loss wages, but what this shows is that because of premiums and regulations it's been a dire hit on small businesses that was obamacare, of course, donald trump has promised to repeal and replace that law. abby: there are some numbers to prove it. president obama trying to squeeze a lot before he leaves office now. a un climate fund payment. cheryl: we just decided to give 500 million-dollars to that climate fund right before he left office. $500million of taxpayer money. a lot of this money goes to other countries, programs in other countries, so this is american tax money going to

other people for the issue of climate change. we should say that president obama probably did this because donald trump has said at least he said on the campaign that he was going to a, cancel paris climate agreement and money going around to global warm programs, he was going to get rid of that as well. so definitely a last-minute move by president obama with this one. heather: something else that president-elect trump said on the campaign trail, he's going to make america great again and there's a dating site that's going to make dating great again? cheryl: yes, i told you a while ago, a dating site for trump singles, obviously with the divisiveness that's come with this election, folks are having a hard time going on dates because if politics came up, date ending didn't go well. well, it was watched back in june, 24,000 members since then, but since the election it's gotten 5,000 new members and, again, the site is to deal with

our panel, welcome new york city gop councilman joe and former ohio state senate democrat capri, good morning to both of you. >> hey. abby: we all can agree that lessons the spending in washington is a great thing. the next question, though, how do you do it, how do you pay for it? >> that's the thing. this plan from donald trump is really answering a broader question of how will the new administration pay for some of donald trump's broader policy goals like building a wall, having infrastructure spending, new defense spending, he has to make cuts somewhere. any policy goals have a mathematic reality and you see that with what's happening right now. some agencies need to be treated with a scappal and others with sledge hammer. abby: of course, we should cut spending, you actually have an idea for him.

>> yeah, there's a number of things that can be done. for example, for those that are heading into retirement, you know, when you're dealing as well with applying business model for efficiency, sigma, you're looking for ways to improve efficiency rather than laying people out, the legacy cost, you know, retirement and ultimately trying to employ some of the private-sector models to the public sector to create efficiencies which, i think, might be a way to get things moving in the right direction when it comes to our administrative agencies. abby: cutting some spending joe, that's just one of the ideas he has to drain the swamp as he's been talking about for months now. question is, how much of that can actually get done and how much of the reality when he gets into this job, you know other presidents have tried this before, there's a reason why it hasn't happened. >> other presidents have tried

spending freezes, very few have actually tried making significant cuts like that. i think it's critical. you think an agency like the department of education with an 80 billion-dollar budget, very limited jurisdictional ability and very little to show for it for what they spend. i think even the new incoming secretary of education is happy that the agency is going to be making cuts. i forget which independent it was but 250 employees in an agency that hires a thousand. >> that's going to be a deal. contract negotiations that are currently in place. >> it certainly is. that's why we elected donald trump. you're someone out there who hasn't been paying attention to the news in the last 18 months. this is what people elected trump for. we are happy when he questions things like the ridiculous spending on air force one. we are happy that someone is taking a look at these things.

abby: he can get this done if he can fix some of the ways in washington. >> i certainly hope so. i think they'll be difficult hurdles when it comes to the public sector unions and the contract negotiations that i mentioned. let's all hope that in some way, shape or form we will be find a way to improve efficiencies and make government work for the taxpayers. abby: joe, capri, good to have you this morning. have a good day. heather: watching obamacare as well. weather could wash out a million people on inauguration day. janice dean live in washington, d.c. with the latest. it's dry there now, janice. janice: wash-out, i'm afraid of that term, heather, we are expecting rain as early as tomorrow morning, we are live in dc and the capitol behind me where we will have inauguration tomorrow. the temperatures are going to be warm but the story will be the radar, the fact that we are going to get the potential for

rain in the forecast starting tomorrow. there's your future radar, you can see it starting around 11:00 a.m. creeping in the dc area so hoping for a bit dryer forecast as we get into the afternoon. look at that, we could get rain here at 8:00 a.m., lasting the duration of the swearing in and perhaps starting to clear up as the parade is wrapping up. we will keep you posted on that. by the way, the average high is 41 and we are at 43 right now. the temperature during inauguration was 48-degrees, the coldest was 7-degrees back in '85. we are doing better than that, that's for sure. 43 in dc area. you can see the cooler air behind the boundary. we are getting rain down towards texas because we have frontal bound ri where we are getting areas of low pressure riding the front. that's why we have in the

youse next couple of days. ivanka trump will step into melania trump's steps as first lady stays in new york city. abby: what can we expect from melania and ivanka after the inauguration? author of the burning of the white house, james is here. good to have you here this morning. good morning. >> good morning, thanks for having me. abby: fascination with both of these women, women, talented, smart, you say, however this shakes out the country is going to be in goods hands? >> that's right. it is unusual for a president to have grown daughter out like ivanka and have a wife who is professional woman who was well established before he married her, so it's very interesting and unique in that sense that we are going to have two women that will speak on behalf of their husband and father.

heather: but there's precedent, though, i found interesting in your notes. give us a background on how this sort of happened before, not necessarily with the daughter but tell us about that. >> in our recent history we haven't had presidential daughter be of anal to step forward but thomas jefferson was a widower when he was president and relied on his daughter martha to come up with southern virginia to help events and james relied on his niece harriet and first woman to be called first lady in a magazine. harriet took the hosting duties for his uncle. we have seen it before but not in recent history. >> abby: off of the first lady will change to office of the first family. it's going to be very much a family affair. >> that's very true. the kennedys were, you know, they encircled john f kennedy,

you have seen in a similar way. how many have family-run business with all throe children were involved with the family's business become president. we will see more of the first family go around. that's good. melania has a 10-year-old son baron. i know what it's like to be the mother in their life and involved. i think it'll spread out some of those responsibilities in an efficient way for them that'll work for them. heather: not only is she a mother but immigrant and her story, inspiration to the american dream. >> she is, the american dream is to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and melania wanted that in her life and that's why she came in the united states and her story resinates for that. but the american spirit is to help others achieve the american dream and that's what melania is going to set herself up to do, is to be there for women and children and to be there for the

american people, that's what she said she wants to do, it'll be excite to go see how that unfolds. abby: we hear a lot from melania, do you think melania will do most of the public speaks in public events? >> i don't know, it'll be a little bit of both. at first we will probably see more of ivanka can melania staying in new york so baron can finish school year. we haven't had a first lady that speaks multiple languages. when it comes to diplomatic relations that's an excellent skill to have because she'll be able to speak to dip diplomats and heads of state in a language that they understand. that's a great skill. heather: one of her causes will be bullying online so i think that's good. abby: good to have you here. heather: really interesting, appreciate it. abby: i wish i spoke multiple languages.
