permanently roll back some of these regulations. i know he did a temporary freeze on new and incoming regulations that president obama put into place. look at what he has done over the past 8 years. he has really limited us. prevented a lot of potential and energy exploration. a lot of money there. a lot of jobs there. and, you know, even look at the keystone pipeline, for instance. just a lot of quick action there that donald trump. ainsley: won't be dependent on other countries. >> exactly. ainsley: what do you think should be next. >> first thing look at he is send ago very clear message. he was elected by the american people, many of which wanted to see obamacare rebeeld or at the very least changed. is he directing federal agencies to, you know, interpret as loosly as possible obamacare until it is potentially repealed. what we need to keep in mind many americans i'm from the midwest and the state of ohio. i saw businesses and people hurt by obamacare. we can't continue to let this happen. we need to interpret these regulations loosely and figure

now on the way up, he was. brian: grinning and grabbing. >> you could see how deeply he was taking about what he was about to do. it is exciting. this is a guy who is going to come in and do what has been needing to be done for years. i mean, for example, he says drain the swamp. what does that mean? well, newt was talking to a small group of us in the house. real conservatives. and he said you know what? the number one thing you could do to help him achieve his goals, drain the swamp, you have got to give him the ability to say you're fired. and because of the civil service act. steve: sure. >> that was a reform. it was a huge reform because of the spoil system. people gave jobs in washington to their friends. steve: legendary. >> civil service was a reform but now it's worse than tenure for professors. ainsley: does it worry you or anyone else in congress or senators that he would come in

and drain the swamp? and do you consider yourself part of the swamp? steve: terrifies them. >> like any wet lands. when you come in and start trying to drain it, there's going to be endangered species like fat cats up here. so snakes, they're going to be endangered and they are not going to go out without a fight but we have got to get rid of them. brian: one of the things a hiring freeze. that's going to come this week. no more. and i guess 15% are so upset that donald trump got elected they are going to quit. they are not going to be replaced. >> that is awesome. that is just fantastic. steve: et question is do you need them? >> you get that answered by the shutdown that harry reid caused. steve: he did. >> in 2013. they had only essential people come in and it was a fraction and so many of us were going so now we know who we need and who we don't really need. let's get rid of the nonessential people.

brian: union stopping them. >> civil service reform preventing that you can't just say you are fired. something trump is quite good at. steve: he is famous at that. >> we have got reform that bill, that law and give him a chance to fire people for cause without going through all these problems. and the other thing, and he talked about this. and people don't realize this doesn't just help, you know, get rid of the irs. doesn't help one little area, it helps all of our freedom and i was talking to art i would like to get rid of the irs. steve: somebody has to collect taxes. >> i was a judge and prosecutor. he said some people are going to cleat. the problem with the irs they decide who they are going to audit. they decide how thoroughly they are going to harass people when they audit. they decide if they are going to put you in jail. they want to take your home, your business. you can't have one entity. you get rid of the irs completely. you get a small, little agency of cpa's.

ultimately to donald trump. that's like a lot of american republicans and conservatives. you know, they went shopping. they wound up checking out, put donald trump in the cart ultimately. >> yes, sir. steve: you have no problem with regarding where you started and where you ended up? >> no, no, i don't. >> when the perry family picked me up and brought me in. paid attention what was going on in their world. learned a lot about politics. and backing governo governor pep because is he family. i know what a great man he is ted cruz is a good man, too. steve: rick perry will be a great energy secretary. >> he will, absolutely. brian: we have some video of the hearing. when it comes to the v.a. this is the first candidate i know made that a priority. he was horrified when it happened four years ago whens wn it was done. how little has been done. do you sense that it's going to be a priority from here on

in? >> absolutely. the cabinet members that are here now really care about. especially governor perry. it's one of those deals where it will be brought to the president's attention every single day. i would like to say. this you hear -- everyone bashing the v.a. i checked into the v.a. in three days. so i know it can be done. the doctors there are fantastic. it's when it gets out of that that everything boggles down. the senators and congressman have a great medical program. just take the veterans and put them in their program and there shouldn't be a problem anymore. ainsley: you mentioned -- >> -- or vice versa. send them down our way. brian: things get done. ainsley: you men'sed the confirmation hearings. senator mad dog mattis. he was confirmed. senator kelly. they were getting criticism for too many generals on the cabinet which i think is absurd. what do you think about it? do you like mad dog mattis for defense? >> do you know how hard it is to get a name like that in the

steve: from empty talk to empty seats 68 democratic lawmakers vowed to skip yesterday's nomination while many are still refusing to work with president trump. others know there is work that needs to be done. ainsley: texas congressman henry cuellar is a democrat who attended president trump's inauguration and he joins us now. >> good morning. >> so many congressman men and women boycotting this. how did you decide to stay? >> first of all, i don't think it matters if it's a democratic or republican president that's going to be sworn in. i think we need to respect the history, the tha tradition and constitution and need to be part of the process. there are so many other countries jealous or wish think could be like the united states. and i thought it was important to be there peaceful transfer of power. brian: you were quoted saying it's a part of my job and i thought it was too. i have to ask you one of the priorities donald trump no secret building the wall and bringing in border security. is there a way to do that and

not alienate democrats in texas, like you and arizona and in california. >> there might be some areas that you probably need some barriers that we can literally cross one side to the other. in texas, most of that property is owned by landowners. that is not the government. we believe in private property rights. first of all, can you build the biggest wall that you want to, look at the numbers, 40% of the undocumented persons who came here that are here in the united states, 40% of them came through a legal permanent visa. so you can build the biggest wall and so we have got to be smart on how we secure the border. i'm one of those law and order democrats. i don't want to see chaos or open borders. i want to make sure we do it in a smart way. steve: we will see what donald trump does propose. does your caucus realize that the people of america, whether you are democrat, republican, independent, whatever, want washington to get stuff done in the last four or five years you guys haven't been able to do anything because there has been such intense gridlock. now you have got a guy who is

a known negotiator who says, you know what? i'm going to work both sides. is your side ready to work with donald trump. >> i think some of us are ready to work with him. i will give him the benefit of the doubt. i disagree with him on some issues. steve: how many don't want to work with limb. >> well, i think we have seen this in the democratic party and on the republican side. quite honestly, if it's a democratic president there are some republicans that won't work. steve: it's a new day, going forward. how many? >> i agree. i don't know. we will find out. when the first proposal comes in, let's see how many some of us want to make sure we get more jobs created in the united states. i want to see the tax reform. i want to make sure we lower corporate taxes. brian: do you? >> yes, i do. >> there is ways that we can do. this i want to make sure our corporations are competitive with other companies across the world. steve: fantastic. all right. >> thank you so much. steve: thanks for stopping by. ainsley: glad you decided to stay and didn't boycott too. that's the right thing to do. steve: thanks for not

doubts about russia's analysis to tamper with the election process and whether or not russia is really a friend. and the difference of opinion the president has had with the intelligence community is pretty well understood. and this is a intelligence meeting to shake hands and say we have to work together. there were two executive orders signed by the president after his inauguration. one goes right to the affordable care act and say all u.s. government agencies should do their best to help constituents who have been overburdened by obamacare, which is to say there is another vehicle for republicans to begin to dismantle the affordable care act, particularly the individual mandate assuming that some constituencies have been overburdened by the fine one pays if you don't join up for obamacare. the other one was a little bit more technical. it essentially frees all regulations so that the obama administration's regulations can be reviewed. that was one of the things that candidate donald trump promised to do. to essentially do a full

review of all federal regulations and freeze the perfect pechation of anymore. there are a lot of additional executive orders expected to come on monday. and when the president on monday begins to do that, he will have only two members of his cabinet actually confirmed by the u.s. senate. last night, two pieces of his national security team were put in place. first of all, general george mattis is now the secretary of defense. he was confirmed last night after getting the waiver for having not been out of service for the required seven years. he's only been out three. so now he is. there is also general john kelly who will be running dhs. botches two men are former marines and both of them were heads of the central command in florida. lots of experience. one other left is cia, mike, the congressman, he is going to be debated on monday and likely passed. but we do expect the president to go to cia today anywhere. it was hoped that he could confirm and square isn' swear

him in today. >> carl, i heard it got kind of rough today that ron widen really did you go in and all about mike's refusal to dig himself to not revisiting our interrogation tactics. how rough was it on inauguration day? >> not that rough really. the -- for an inauguration, the democrats are still trying to hold their ground, trying to back down some of the trump administration's plans. but inauguration days are not supposed to be about this type of partisanship. democrats have tried to slow down at least two nominees. particularly betsy devos for education and possibly tom price for health and human services. both of them had hearings in the last couple of weeks and democrats have made it clear that they're sort of targeting those two in order to slow them down.

and the churchill bust was back. now, this was silly in some ways but serious because the obama white house misled the public and charles who first pointed this out a few years ago that there was a bust of winston churchill in the oval office there when george w. bush was office and i think early in the obama times, and then it was taken out. the obama white house said it was not taken out. they later had to apologize and said, yes, we took churchill out despite talk with a special nation with britain. last night a reporter noises he thinks there's no mlk bust in the oval office that barack obama brought in. this is a big story because it's four days after the hero's birthday. >> that's right. he took out mlk and put in churchill. >> he brought in churchill, the white guy, and he hates mlk so he didn't bring him in. and there are dozens of reporters retweeting this saying donald trump took the mlk bust out. >> how dare he. >> guess what?

bad trump story. there's -- maybe there's a little whisper right over there. let's run with it. let's get the facts. how about that? and, yes, zeek miller, i mentioned him. i'm not going to beat him up. he admitted it was a mistake. he tweeted that multiple times. he feels bad about it. people make mistakes. i've gotten stories wrong. i'm not perfect. but reporters on day one of a new administration when it wasn't just, you know, an -- brian: it's bad. >> on the parade route yesterday there were signs saying donald trump is a racist. check the facts. brian: very interesting at the luncheon, it looked as, though, donald trump to mention his vanquish foe and her husband. let's listen. >> i was very honored. very honored when i heard that president bill clinton and secretary hillary clinton was coming today, and i think it's appropriate to say. and i would like you to stand up. i would like you to stand up. and honestly, there's nothing more than i can say because i have a lot of respect for those two people. so thank you, all, for being here. >> classy. it's actually a classy, nice moment. i think the context is there were some democrats griping immediately after the inaugural address that the president did not mention hillary clinton who was sitting there. look, you can argue that one all day as well. do you bring more attention to the idea that you beat her and she's sitting right there. some critics would have said he's rubbing her nose in it. he did it. but i think the broader point is this is a dance that donald trump is going to be doing. he gives an inauguration address that rips off the both bars. i didn't get elected to to work with all of guys, i came here to shake things up, rip it to pieces, and go in a new

that are pro-life in this march? ainsley: what did they say? >> i didn't ask them. ainsley: i like the controversy. >> . steve: it's an inclusive march as long as you have their side. >> exactly. steve: so you're here in the nation's capitol because yesterday at high noon donald trump became the 45th president of the united states. what did you think about it? >> you know, if you look at the entire story, my take, very simple. nobody thought this man can do it. and what i admire the most about him it is he is fearless, he's courageous, he doesn't necessarily listen to everybody. but he has great instinct. why are you laughing? u. he doesn't listen you mean everybody. >> everything i've discovered is this guy is a constant negotiator. the quintessential negotiator. and to watch the people, the little snowflake super storm that we have going on in the city and people needing crayons and canals and coloring books and legos.

do you have legos on the set of fox? >> no. >> to see that he was able to overcome a republican establishment that hated him, a democratic establishment and besides fox news, a colluding news media with hillary clinton. a fantastic story. this election will be studied for hundreds of years. steve: what you said is very interesting. he doesn't listen to people. he doesn't listen to everybody. want to point out the two or three most 9-1-1 people around him. who would then? >> you have to look at his family. have a lot of influence on him. definitely no doubt steve bannon and reince priebus. i think kellyanne has a special relationship where he listens to her. but especially throughout the years with all of his business dealings, he wants great ideas. and if it's a good idea, let's go with that idea. i don't think it's who is

right but what is right. steve: sure but he also wants free press because if people write stuff in the media that are not true. >> we were at the freedom ball and it was pretty amazing. at one point he said should i keep my twitter account? ainsley: i know. we've been playing that sound byte. mainstream media is basically based in new york city. and new yorkers, californians, they still haven't gotten it. they haven't gotten that middle america want a donald trump. and finally the forgotten man is being remembered. >> it's so funny you say that because there's a painting. a guy by the name of john, who is known for his political and religious paintings. his signature work is called the forgotten man. the day after election day. and i think actually on election night, i said this was the forgotten man, forgotten woman election. and the reason i say that, and i spent an entire year every day giving out the same statistics. 95million americans out of work. 13million more americans on food stamps. 8million more in poverty.

lowest home ownership rate in four years. real americans, which donald trump touched on in his speech yesterday, real americans, real suffering, if they don't succeed, we're not succeeding. brian: cut unemployment in half and look at how many people we have gotten -- we've added jobs. however, america spoke. they saw the one stat, and they saw your stat. >> but we didn't lose jobs. we have more people -- we don't count the people that are chronically unemployed. brian: you had your stats and donald trump went with your stats. and america spoke up, and they said those are the real stats because that's what affected me most. >> agreed. brian: and those are the people that watch fox news, to be honest. >> it's more than that. just americans saw this didn't work. and in the process of bad economic plan, well, you can add to that that we obama taking on more debt than every other president before him combined. and then you look in foreign

policy. isis is not the jv team. they're not contained. iraq, afghanistan, benghazi, north africa, libya, the entire middle east, the russian reset, a relationship with china. we the country has been in a precipitous, dramatic decline. >> sure. >> what i like about his agenda and why i am very hopeful this morning where i was not before or after election day. if he does the things he's going to do, it's going to have to have originalists on the court. we need to vet these refugees. we have to build a wall. obamacare's been a disaster. lowering the corporate tax rate to 15% will incentivize corporations to bring their money here. >> right. but, you know, some -- >> energy independents. >> thank you very much. rick perry's going to help him with that. you know there have been a number of people who have said, well, his speech yesterday was like a campaign speech. but of course that's the speech that people who like donald trump. >> they wanted him to change? expect got to washington and within 15 minutes.

steve: but here's the thing. he's still in campaign mode because he needs congress to advance his agenda. he needs democrats to help him. but he needs a lot of republicans who up until now haven't liked him. >> well, i think republicans leading into this election, starting in 2010 they were put in power in the house. 2014, they got the senate. two specific promises they broke. if they break trust this time with the american people, they will be gone. steve: what do you mean this time? >> in other words, they said they would repeal and replace obamacare but they wouldn't use their constitutional authority of the press. they said they would stop executive amnesty. they didn't do that in 2014. ainsley: are you in hog heaven? because everywhere you go there are republicans everywhere. conservatives. >> my voice is shot, which isn't good for my business but this was pretty special because i got to meet all those people. brian and i were talking about. steve: they don't leave here. >> they don't leave here. i bought the painting. i bought the original. steve: oh, you did?

a great wall around jerusalem. trump started laughing at that. but it's true. and i pointed out the reasons that god blessed nehemia's efforts, so i think god has raised up another great leader. donald j. trump. brian: pastor, as much as he believes in this and has great confidence. at some point do you look at this and say how does this happen? has someone put me in this place? >> well, it's interesting, brian. exactly a year ago this weekend, i was flying around iowa with president trump. it was before the first caucus or primary, and i said to him, i believe you're going to be the next president of the united states. and if that happens, it's because god has raised you up for a great purpose, and that's exactly what has happened. steve: look at that. >> so i really believe that was god. it was a god thing. brian: does he believe it? >> yes. i believe -- i would not see he believes it in the same way i do. he would never have the hubers to say god put me here.

>> it was that kind of that thing got donald trump elected. the mainstream liberal press, conservative christians are the last speed bump that have to be eliminated before we have a godless society. so they take it out of context, they demonize us saying if you believe -- and traditional marriage you have to be a homophone. if you don't believe that women should going to g in women's restrooms, you're a bigot. if you don't believe the life of the unborn, you hate women. the american people are sick of that, and i think that's why christians related together. brian: pastor, stick around. we're going to go back out to the prayer service and are wrap things up if that's okay to you. >> oh, i would love to. brian: back in a moment with more fox and friends
