the unprecedented surge of illegal migrants from central america is hiring both mexico and the united states, and i believe the steps we will take, starting right now, will improve the safety and both of our countries. it's going to be very, very good for mexico. a nation without borders is not a nation. beginning today, the united states of america gets back control of its borders, gets back its borders. >> just as we went to eric, eric, apparently the statement from the government of mexico says that president enrique pena nieto is rethinking his trip. apparently it's coming across that he is considering canceling. i imagine he won't and that he will come. i remember during the campaign you said it was the one thing he was going to have to do right away, announce something about

the wall. he's making good on the campaign promise today. >> and my talking points going into the show was it's very interesting. enrique pena nieto is coming january 2,031st someone is going to ask him who is going to pay for the wall. someone is going to have to say he won. there is a great out for trump. he can say one of his campaign promises was to either renegotiate nafta or kill it completely great he may be able to find a way to renegotiate nafta, state and after, and have mexico pay for the wall and come out and say look, i did both of these things. may want to do that. we have a massive trade imbalance with mexico. they benefit from us being our e biggest trading partner.

he is taking money out of parts of the budget to start building something. >> but the wall come in 2006, there was language passed in legislation that said a wall could be built and there were certain sections of it and some of it has been done. this is the day that his supporters really wanted. >> he should have combined all the actions into one think he should get the syrian refugees to build a wall around chicago. do it all. chicago is a sanctuary city. you hear the wall about building a 20-foot wall, there will be 2. the old the ladders. trump just created more jobs in mexico. the latter building industry will take off. in the tunnel industry. he is making mexico great again. >> he said it was going to be good for mexico. >> i think a lot of these things, there are so many of

them. increasing i.c.e. border patrol coming getting rid of sanctuary cities is not not an impositio. these are not things that cause people heartache. they are not an imposition. they are reasonable. it probably seems overwhelming to liberals that they are happening one after the other and they are going oh, my god. make it stop. if you look at them separately, it's okay. >> this guy has given me more material into days that i had in four years. >> no wonder you are so happy. >> i love this guy. >> used to be a prosecutor. what can the federal government do to try to stop it? >> they are not in actual compliance with the federal law. if it was my decision and i was in one of these places i would say don't give the funding to the cities.

it's complicated. there's ways to get around it. they're going to try to make a political point because of their constituents in the area and set an example. you've seen a number of places in our largest cities signing on to say they will not abide by it and they do not agree with president trump. they don't get to pick and choose which laws they want to follow. to adhere to, and if you're not going to be in compliance then there has to be some kind of penalty for that. >> what money is he going to take away from the sanctuary cities? >> almost everyone of these sanctuary cities gets border control money. he can pull back, not a whole heck of a lot of money but you can tie other money to it. >> i'm willing to wager the sanctuary cities will continue to be. >> i don't know. let's listen to him. let's go to the sound bite when he talks about, get the bad ones

out fast. >> we are going to get the bad ones out, the criminals and the drug deals and gangs and gang members and cartel leaders. the day is over when they can stay in our country and wreak havoc. we are going to get them out and were going to get them out fast and john kelly is going to lead the way. >> kimberly, sean spicer was asked about the dreamers, these are the children brought to america illegally by their parents. president obama said please consider these are innocent people. the priority apparently is going to be on the criminals and trying to get them out first. >> of course. that's consistent with what he said all along. he's not trying to deport and send away people who are law-abiding. of course they are going to prioritize. you're going to say in terms of triage, what are we going to do. were going to start right away with the people that are the criminal recidivists that come

country. there's absolutely nothing wrong from a national security perspective to be able to actually determine who is coming into the country, what is their background. what is their real identity? as we know, in the middle east, they are not able to fully vet and verify the identity, let alone the age of some of the people coming over. why do we have to have an open door? >> dana, your thoughts. >> i think it's important to point out it's a moratorium, not a band. the wording is important. the moratorium allows you some time to figure out, who do we have coming in and also deal with something kimberly alluded to. the paperwork and many of these countries is suspect. it is not solid in terms of passports, birth certificates, things like that. i wonder what we would be willing to do to solve problems at home to prevent refugees from wanting to flee anyway.

i don't see anything coming forward on that but i do think you can be reasonable and responsible in this approach is that you can be both vigilant and compassionate. it's going to take some time to figure out how to do it all. >> why don't the muslim countries taken some of these refugees as well? >> overboard about using that comment about hitler and. >> cokie is not -- we should accept that tired and the weary and the poor but we don't have to accept the terrorist. that's why it's an emphasis on temporary and not permanent. we want people to come here to seek a better life but we need a better system to ferret out those who pretend to be seeking a better life who are actually trying to end our lives.

angela merkel. >> too heavy of a focus on multiculturalism. >> hillary promise, 100,000 syrian refugees, some number like that. we took in 17,000 syrian refugees. you have completely to different competing ideologies on refugee programs. >> i grew up with a family that did a lot with lutheran world relief and refugee resettlement in denver. i've got personal stories in terms of how america can change people. at that time, though, that was people leaving the soviet union and the oppression of communism. this is an added complexity because you do have this sizable sum of potential terrorists within this refugee population. my heart is very upset for the children but that's why i ask, if were not going to accept them here, what are we willing to do to help them and solve the problem? >> that is part of the thing he talked about during the

campaign. let's help address some of these issues in their own country so that you don't transport the problem here, especially when we have terrorist groups saying that one of the ways they are going to become a funnel in radical islamic terrorists, trying to infiltrate the refugees coming into the country and into europe. >> hundreds of thousands of orphaned children out there who have no place to go. we could take them and we should. >> what about the genocide of christians that's happening? >> in terms of the moratorium on syrian refugees, does that include syrian christians? they have been targeted. there is still a lot to be found out. >> it has to. it's a country of origin, not a religion. it should be called a not moratorium not a more moratorium. >> claiming millions of illegals voted.

repeated that he wants to offer federal help as it public safety. i'm going to take him up on that offer. >> you should do that. eric, let me ask you. are we going to expect the 101st airborne? >> noteworthy that rahm emanuel changing his tune from earlier in the week. what federal help will he accept? funds? will he accept, i don't know, national guard on dangerous corners, dangerous neighborhoods in chicago? probably not. i can imagine that the political campaign against rahm. can't get his own house in order, needs the national guard. >> the last time they took the national guard, it was in this is to be when they had the riots. the president can federalize the national guard. the illinois national guard in fact could go into chicago.

i worked as a prosecutor in los angeles. they have a developed program. they have people assigned to the areas, cops worked there. they work with informants. you have to have a active community policing, gang task force. in terms of working with the das office. also stop and frisk. you have to implement all of these things. i tell you want. it's not going to make rahm emanuel look good if president trump has to come in and to the dash fix the problem he has in his city. >> what mayor would not accept federal assistance? >> remember hurricane katrina? that was the mayor and the governor fighting to say they didn't need federal help, they could handle it. the law that goes back to the feds. i don't think this is going to get to the point i think rahm emanuel's thinking is not national guard troops.
