the other thing is this, most senior officials who have high clearances cannot see the names of the people in these intercepts. that's the other thing. they are redacted. >> sean: great point. sarah, i saw you shaking your head. >> yes, eli brings up several important points here, even more so, not just what happened with lieutenant general mike flynn, but think about this, they expose an operation on on the russians as well as other state actors. they said hey, we are monitoring all your phone calls, your cell phone is wiretapped. your landmines are wiretapped, what are the russians going to do? they are going to tighten their belts and find out how to fix their phone line so that we cannot monitor them. there are people within the u.s. intelligence community that i have spoken with today and yesterday but say there should be an investigation because basically, they have been burned. by their own.

a good story. i understand that, that is your responsibility to some degree. but there's also a story here, with the amount of leaks that are coming out, people that are entrusted with national security secrets, classified information are leaking it out. that is a real concern for this president. when he was talking on the phone with a world leader, when he is making key decisions in protecting this country that we have to wonder whether or not people who work for our government who are entrusted with classified information and material are leaking that information out. that i do believe it's a big story that should be reported. i also believe that the president is rightly so very, very concerned about this because it is not just plaguing the current situation but it goes back to the obama administration, bush administration, clinton administration. when we have government employees that are entrusted with this and then leak it out, that undermines our national security. >> sean: paul sperry you wrote

to "the new york post," you wrote a column that was extremely disturbing, if true, that obama is scheming to sabotage trump's presidency. do you see any connection expla. >> intel has been politicized, there's no question about that to delegitimize, undermine trump. that goes back to december. these other protests against trump and also republicans from these town hall meetings. obama and his organizers it turns out are behind those protests. they are not spontaneous, they are being organized. >> sean: do you think someone in the intelligence community could have leaked this as an obama supporter? >> quite possibly, in the case of these marches and other protests, these are being organized by groups founded by obama, organizing for action. it's a radical group, it just

i see you on media appearances and just my own thoughts, if somebody was a liberal and up woman and was treated in certain circumstances, i feel like it but been news. you feel the media has been extremely hostile towards you? >> i don't want to feel that way, we get lots of questions. tough is fine but they should be fair, actually just saying that i made no sense where it made no sense is inaccurate. in this instance. as our press secretary sean spicer said the daily briefing, i white house counsel review that information and concluded that this is not a legal matter. ultimately it was a matter of trust. it was not a legal matter that it warranted further at that moment, that's all i was trying to convey. i was answering a couple of different questions. i do find sometimes that their conclusions in search of evidence. if we don't answer it in the way

they wanted answered, look, sometimes you're asking a question that is not particularly relevant but we are patiently trying to answer it. maybe not just the way you want it answered. look, i'm not a big fan of talking about sexism and exclusion and all of that. i also think things started to shift when i was a speaker at the march for life. i saw a real change in tone and attitude among many people that i would go and speak at the march for life and of course vice president pence did as well and he made history doing that. that's all right, sean. i just want the american people to see all the action this president is taking on. just today he had a listening session, parent-teacher conference with parents and educators from private schools, public, charter, homeschools, we have a new secretary of the

department of veteran affairs. steven mnuchin last night, at the treasury. the president just today rescinded some of these awful regulations and a really remarkable -- >> sean: i think there are some truths here. i remarkable speed to, the speed of trump, he is moving very quickly. they are more focused on attacking you and attacking ivanka, jarrett, bannon, miller, orca, and even the 10-year-old son of the president. i want to know specifically about these leaks though. sam frizzell, this is not the first time leaks are coming from the intelligence community, our friend wrote a piece, about the shadow warriors. eli lake by the way wrote a piece today about the intelligence leaks. my peace to you is where are

these leaks coming from are they against the law, are they coming from people that are loyal to the former administration and when does it stop because it's a danger that's associated with these leaks and will there be an investigation? >> the president made that very clear, we are very concerned about leaks. particularly as it goes to intelligence and security information. it is extremely concerning, it is not for me to say where they are coming from or whether there would be an investigation but obviously it is taken very seriously by our commander-in-chief and president because he has said as much as recently as this week, he's right. we've seen this before, we are seeing it again this week. leaks within the intelligence security, leaks about them i should say, it should concern everyone. if people are running to the media to the lake and not to the proper authorities, that could concern all of us.

this is not -- it is not a partisan issue, it is dangerous stuff. i appreciate your opening questions to me as well. so and so got grilled, so inso struggled, contentious interviews. i guess this is great click bait but these leaks, what is being put out there. >> sean: i know you made an off-the-cuff comment, it was on fox & friends, i do believe i have friends inside at nordstrom that they believe it is political what happened with ivanka's line. you are violating the standards of conduct, they are claiming. >> i do not have a comment on any type of investigation. i've been very straightforward about that particular incident. i believe it at that.

officers, let's be very clear. most of the intel officers are great americans working very hard. there are some who are more loyal to political party. they were gaining ground during the obama administration but frankly, the obama team did not really crackdown because most of the leaks benefited them. but with the election of donald trump, this has been blown wide open. we now have politically motivated intel officers leaking information about the president's calls. look at what spun when he spoke to the australian head of state. it is really strange to have this activity going on in our intel community, the press will probably not crackdown on this because they will benefit as well. congress needs to step up and there needs to be some mature congressional representatives from both sides of the aisle to go in and crackdown and start firing people. from leaking this affirmation

about u.s. officials. >> sean: i guess the next logical question here is okay, he did not tell the whole truth to the vice president who asked him. the white house said nothing illegal was done here, a 1799 act that they were referring to, the logan act, no one had ever been prosecuted under that. nothing criminal, and then they spend a couple weeks finding out what happens with that and it results in the issue of trust. but based on leaked information. what does that mean for the trump white house? >> obviously the trump administration is dealing with a lot of bureaucrats, people that are clearly leaking and not only for political purposes but also specifically targeted at mike flynn with an effort to try to discredit him and to try to get him kicked out of the administration. that's a really huge thing.

it's important to remember -- >> sean: do agree with me, they are going after -- targeting one-on-one, around trump? >> they are doing it to themselves. that's what's being investigated here. he partly told the fbi, which is a felony. >> sean: hillary clinton lied a lot. >> obama actually did prosecute leaks more than anyone else. >> sean: the person most responsible for the biggest risk of national security was hillary and she got away with it. >> let's agree to disagree on that point. on flynn, there is an issue here on whether he lied to the fbi. to focus on the leaks is not the only issue. >> the underlying crime, what he supposedly did by violating the logan act versus what hillary clinton did after benghazi? there is no comparison.
