5:00 pm
in florida. hope you will be able to join us. we will cover president trump's rally in florida tomorrow. shanks for watching. have a great presidents' day weekend. >> jesse watters in for bill o'reilly. thanks for watching a speck edition of "the factor," president trump the first month. donald trump versus the establishment. the re-haitianship is in full meltdown following his first so low press conference yesterday. president trump took the press to task. >> look, i want to see an honest press. i started off today saying that it's so important to the public to get an honest press. the press, the public doesn't believe you people any more. maybe i had something to do with
5:01 pm
that, i don't know, but they don't believe you. >> the media was defensive and dismissive. >> i don'ts think he's mad at the media. >> you don't? >> i think he's mad at not being boss any more. >> he's entertaining, a lot of americans are addicted to him. we in the media and i don't exclude myself are getting addicted to writing about him, it's so easy to do. he has his entertainment value. >> the he saidia and other elites huper ventilated, supporters of president trump couldn't have been happier. >> this is one of the most effective press conferences i've ever seen. the press is going to hate him even more, dose misunderstand, i talk about rallying people who voted for him to stay with him. >> joining with us reaction from washington, ashleigh pratt, a conservative commentator and u.s. news and report, world report contributor. here in the studio, radio talk show host mike gallagher. mike, remember during the campaign when everyone says let
5:02 pm
trump be trump and they kind of let him do his thing. he ended up winning, that was the trump that won. that's what we saw yesterday, the campaigner trump. the media has come out and said this is not an effective donald trump. that was a trump that won. so, i still think the media is missing the boat on this guy. >> everything that got donald trump elected was on display yesterday. and if any of these elitists think that average, hard-working, normal americans give a rat's rear end about the media being tweaked by president trump, they oukt to take a long hard long in the mirror and realize they're wildly out of touch with reality. reality is that's the president trump that voters and americans expect. the best is yet to come. he has had a really good month. he has had -- he had highlights -- >> you think it gets better than this? >> we're in for a ride. we are knee for a ride.
5:03 pm
>> looks like we are. he tweeted out something i want to show the audience, we have it up for you, he says, the fake news media failtion "new york times," nbc news, abc, cbs, cnn is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the american people. so ashleigh, looks like he's trying to align himself with the american people. and really drive a wedge between the press and the rest of the country. he pretty much did that the other day during the press conference. do you agree with that or not? >> the press which has a job to report it is their responsibility to report, to get news to the american people. and, look, i believe the mainstream media, i as a conservative for many years have been critical of them, and they deserve that criticism. at the same time, it is their duty to report the news. the decorum the other day was lacking. he is no long area candidate, he is the president of the united states and he needs to act like that. the journalists were doing their job and asking questions.
5:04 pm
it wasn't combative until he made it one. that is problematic. let me finish. thomas jefferson, who is by all means regarded by the conservative movement, who has said our greatest liberty is the freedom of the press. that liberty could die without it. i think we should heed the wise words of would be one of our nation's founders. >> the only is the american people did not elect thomas jefferson. they wanted to elect a guy all about decorum they would have elected mitt romney. >> the majority of americans didn't vote for him as well. we have to realize that. >> ashleigh, let mike get in here. >> the problem ashleigh, i don't mean it personal, are you're a never-trumper. i was and he can prove me wrong but he needs to be held accountable. >> at the end of the day, you guys on posed to done trump are still anguished that he won.
5:05 pm
>> no, no! >> to a person self described conservatives or republicans critical of yesterday's epic press conference are never-trumpers. you ever been continually against him. you want him to fail. >> ashleigh do you agree with the point that maybe you have not yet accepted the fact that donald trump, this donald trump is president. and this is the way he's going to behave toward the press for the next four years, at least. eventually we will have to get used to this. >> obama won, i was not thrilled about. that but guess what. you can complain all you want you can disagree with policy and we did when conservatives were shut out or mocked during press conferences by joshenest. but we can't be hypocritical and doing the sale thing here. calling out cnn as fake news, say you're this, you're that, is just absolutely absurd. because when obama did it conservatives rald against him, i was one of them, to stand there and say this is okay is
5:06 pm
absolutely ridiculous. let me finish one more thing. as a never-trumper i was conservative and concerned because of the fact that he said many concerning things. yes, he got great talking points. and you know, i'm glad he won. he proved me wrong. but at the end of the day he has a chance to prove me wrong again by being good president. what he did the other day was very, very unpresidential. >> the thing i would say, ashleigh, comparing president obama to president trump is the way he treats the press, fox news was reporting fake news stories, then president obama would be within everyone of his rights to call it like he sees it. if we did. >> when he called out fox for asking questions we were outraged. >> i believe a lot of the other mainstream media are reporting fake news stories whether it's the mlk bust, whether it's the dossier that russia allegedly had on him, whether it's this
5:07 pm
new thing the intelligence apparatus is not telling him certain intelligence. >> what about with his own administration people leaking information. they're running stories -- >> come on, let mike finish. >> this week the president had an historic visit with the prime minister of israel. they covered, the mainstream media that you are defending, ashleigh, spent more time worrying about what he tweeted about ivanka's clothing line than that. how about the story reported that there was no collusion between the trump campaign and the russians, a little blush, they're worried ho he words a tweet. ashleigh you've been on the wrong side of it, you're still on the wrong side, you're in a bad place. >> i'm not bitter about it. i admitted that i was wrong. but at the same time -- >> you look beautiful, ashleigh but we have to go to break. and we appreciate you taking the time. we'll have to get used to it. up next. trump's crackdown on illegal

mainstream media. earlier today the associated press reported that the trump administration was considering mobilizing the national guard to round up illegal immigrants in many states. the white house fiercely denied the report stating it was 100% not true. and came from an early draft memo ever in seriously considered. despite that immigration activists are reacting, claiming illegal immigrants without criminal records are being targeted. joining us now with reaction from washington, mark krekorian from center for immigration studies and ali norani author of
5:12 pm
the upcoming back "there goes the neighborhood". was this another case of fake news, mark? on the surface, it looks like the a.p. comes out with a splashy headline, then the white house press secretary denies it. is there any truth to this, mobilizing the national guard to undertake raids? >> no. this was as i understand it, it was a discussion memo at the staff level offering possibilities. it didn't even mention raids. what it was, was suggesting the possibility of giving an existing law enforcement authority, 287-g authority, to national guard that were interested in it, states interested. that wasn't even seriously considered, it was just thrown out -- >> jesse: the national guard could be deputized to undertake not raid but assistance with local law enforcement? >> exactly, the kind of stuff
5:13 pm
cops in all jurisdictions do now. and to emphasize, this was just a staff discussion paper not anything that was considered at the white house level. it's the a.p. that turned it into fake news. this really, there's a word for, this fake news is a new term. the old term was yellow journalist. this was jello journalism. >> jesse: ali, there's a saying elections have consequences. president trump when he was a candidate ran on a deportation force of some sort. we all know he wants to go after the bad hombres, i don't think there's anything wrong with that. if donald trump does start deporting people who crossed the border illegally but have not committed any other crime since then, is that a huge problem? >> well i think what we saw in this draft memo that was leaked today and reported on by the associated press, it's a summation of the trump administration's executive orders over the last month. this lays out how they may want to implement the three executive
5:14 pm
orders, the border wall, interior enforcement or travel ban. massive increase in border patrol, the port authorities. this was a campaign promise for deportation force, the removal 161 million people. and, you know -- 11 million people. and spending tense of billions of dollars. i think the backlash will be severe, the majority of americans do not want to see our country go, have the national guard going door-to-door. and even half the trump primary voters are opposed to the immigration plan. >> jesse: mark, if trump does the border wall and he does the sanctuary city deunder funding and goes after the bad hombres, the criminal and the cartel guys and gets them out of there, but does not go after regular people that cross the border illegally or overstay their visas but
5:15 pm
haven't committed a crime since. is the base going to get extremely angry with that, yes or no? >> no, i don't think so. because the key issue here is not whether under this return to normal immigration enforcement, they're going knocking people's doors down and say where's your green card. what happened under obama, they went after the bad hombres. but they said in writing that regular illegal immigrants are immune from law enforcement. they will not have to face the consequences of their actions. what we're seeing now, is a return to normal prehe have obama law enforcement -- preobama enforcement where the priority is the worst actors. but that -- worst acters. but regular folks don'ts have a path if they're illegal immigrants. the analogy under obama was like the irs saying we're going to target money launderers and cartel people, job one for us. but if you're a regular person
5:16 pm
who chooses not pay your taxes, we're going to ignore you. that's what obama said. that's what has changed now. we've gone back to normal enforcement. >> jesse: and normal enforcement is enforcing the law of the land, aly. if some one isn't paying taxes or some one is living in a trap house, or some one is just drinking and driving, moving violations to get caught up with some small beef like that, they have to face the sequences. that's not draconian, right? >> we are completely in support of smart law endorsement, smart prioritization of valuable resources. those valuable law enforcement resources should be focusing on, quote, the bad hombres. that second executive order expanded the enforcement priority. when saying return to normal enforcement, you're saying that that second enforcement order leads to massive deportation up to 8 million people.
5:17 pm
>> jesse: they have normalized this, was talking to illegal immigrants and they don't fear trump at all. coming up next, critics of president trump claim things in the white house are in total chaos. but reports of turmoil are they overblown? back with that debate. fun in art class. come close, come close. i like that. 5:22 pm
to could not believe that what they were watching and witnessing. it did go on for 76 minutes. >> jesse: the reporters couldn't believe what they watched and with itted on election night either so they don't have the best judgment. >> true. >> jesse: larry, to be fair, judy said it was like a tricycle with the wheels falling off. the guy has done a lot so far. in terms of deregulation, the mining announcement, he's staffing up the cabinet, got a supreme court deal done, sanctions on iran, the border wall is being expedited, pipelines are being expedited, hiring freeze on the federal level. they've had jobs being saved, companies are staying here, the stop market is ripping. it's not like he's just flailing. maybe these stories that i just mentioned are being underreported. >> jesse, that is all boring policy stuff. you know that. that's why you should reach -- shouldn't reach any judgment 29 days into a presidency. we're not even one-third of the way through the artificial and i think entirely ridiculous first 1900 days. -- first 100 days a loflt conclusions go of the the window as time goes on. a lot has been accomplished. were there things they would have done differently, they've already said they would have a different rollout for the executive order on immigration. i don't think they would have had general flynn call the russian ambassador. there are other things they would do differently. >> jesse: the flynn deal and the judge robar and ninth circuit slowed down his momentum. it's outside of his hands but you have to say it did slow down the momentum. but he changed the narrative. if you look at the first 100 days of blin clinton, you had -- bill clinton, you had waco. kind of a big problem, waco, texas, a lot of innocent people died, up in flames.
5:24 pm
president obama first 100 days you had the aig bonus scandal when they bailed this company out after they tanked the economy, then all of these fat cat execives got big bonuses from main street taxpayers. to have a flynn situation, pop up, yeah, maybe, that's kind of a big deal. but i think in the grand scheme of things you look back at history, maybe not that huge. >> well, jesse, the differences that -- the other thing that happened on to other presidents tended to be things external to your own white house. here you have a problem, a set of problems that seem to be related to the white house's inability to kind of function effectively. when you have a general flynn who is not telling the vice president of the country the truth about what he said to the russians, that's not something, a terrorist attack outside, that is something internal.
5:25 pm

>> personal story segment, the fight against islamic extremism. yesterday president trump promised to press ahead with the travel ban against seven muslim majority countries. >> let me tell you about the travel ban. we had a very smooth rollout of the travel ban. but we had a bad court, a bad decision. a court that's been overturned, i think, 80% of the time. a lot. we had a bad decision. we'll keep going with that decision, put in a new executive order next week? time. but we had a bad decision. >> jesse: while the white house prepares its revised executive order, a pro muslim rally called "i am a muslim too" will be held in manhattan's time square. joining us now is a co-host of the rally. i have a question. why are muslims protesting

she's open for business to the general public. she cannot discriminate against people based on their religion. washington state protects against discrimination from lgbt. and familial status. so you can't go down this road. >> jesse: i understand. i understand it's a slippery slope. sandy, limit's hit you with something, if you're a christian baker and you believe that it's a sin, gay marriage, and gay weddings, and you don't want to align yourself with that, does that mean that every customer that comes in that wants a cake that may be a liar, or may be adullterror, or a cheater, -- adulter, cheepter, a thief. do you have to look into their background to fire up the offen? >> the answer is you have no customers and you yourself could never bake a cake or do floral. >> jesse: we're all sinners.

if you look at it, a lot of these athletes have grown up in these types of neighborhoods where they come from the bottom. they relate more to the average person. >> jesse: to make its case to bill o'reilly. >> might be for athletes and movie stars getting involved with politics is that i think there should be a baseline of information they should know enough about what they are talking about. do you agree with that. >> yeah, the topics they are disseminating but at the same time, he had to be able to be honest in what you're saying and to be truthful. >> calling copper neck is the best example. >> i thought that was foolish, he did not go on any shows.

president obama. >> i feel -- >> that is more accessible. he should have done the same thing. if you're going to be fair, with all due respect, anyone who says i am voting for who you are voting for, you are an adult. come on. but kids here this stuff and i think these athletes and celebrities owe it to the kids to explain it as best they can. >> at the end of the day i believe that athletes and not just athletes but anyone should have the accessibility to be able to explain these things, they have that platform for that reason. >> so you and i agree. right on! that is an old '60s expression
