2:00 pm
the conservatives have spoken. focusing on the job performance and policy questions. grading the president on his first month in office after the annual conference this afternoon. they been voted onwhether or not they wanted to continue to treat . i am eric sean >> welcome to a brand-new hour inside america's headquarters. those results are showing the majority of conservatives at the annual meeting approve of the reform so far. also disapproving with how he is being treated by republicans
2:01 pm
in congress. live at the seatac conference ã elizabeth ãthe results are you seeing for the 2017 this afternoon. >> hello. it's so funny when we talk about the results. we are talking about a person, right? in this case, it's much more on policy. first and foremost ãwould you say things that the united states are doing in the right direction or have they gotten on the wrong track? 44 percent say right direction and 47 percent say wrong direction. the next one i want to bring to yourattention ãdo you approve or disapprove of the job that donald trump is doing ? it's 86 percent. they combine strongly and somewhat approved. it's combined strongly in disapprove. the third one is, do you approve or disapprove of the appointment to the supreme court.
2:02 pm
it's a hot topic. astonishingly, 94 percent combined and approved in only two percent disapprove all four percent are uninsured. other issues include tax reform and one of them include sanctuary and even the use of twitter. there were some big names toda . we did hear from the representatives north carolina. they are the chairman of the study committee. it's a big topic on obamacare here. we also heard from sheriff clark just moments ago. he really wrapped up the seatac. we did hear from the new head of the epa, scott pruitt. he took the stage for 10 minutes before he took a question-and-answer session. he is really focused on federalism and rolling back unnecessary regulations. >> the ministration was so focused on climate change and so focused on co2 that the priorities were left behind.
2:03 pm
>> how to clean themup? we , as republicans, don't have anything to be apologetic about coming to the environment. we have always believed that you can grow jobs and an economy while also doing and being a good steward to the environment. >> he said at one point there could be additional regulations rolling back. it's a little bit of a teaser for more things to come. >> it's been a very busy afternoon. good to see you. >> it was busy on the democratic side because they now have a new leader. his former labor secretary, tom perez was chosen as the new head of the democratic national committee.it took two rounds of voting for him to emerge the winner over keith ellison. the new leader pledges to turn his party around after the trouncing of last year's selections. jonathan is there and live with the latest on what some are saying . it was kind of an upset. >> indeed.
2:04 pm
what it shows is the dnc leaders are really comfortable with a more establishment candidate. they went with mr. perez who served as a labor secretary under president obama. he enjoyed the support of the party establishment while he was running for the post. when the posts were announced, the group of keith ellison supporters started shouting in protest. perez seemed to bring the room back together in cheers when he made this announcement the motion i would like to make to the body is the motion suspending the rule if i may to appoint keith ellison, the deputy chair of the democratic national committee.>> keith ellison enjoyed strong support from a liberal base. younger supporters will need to
2:05 pm
rally these people so they are not just protesting in the streets but also going to the polls and not just in presidential elections but midterm, state and local elections he explained the importance of party unity . >> we don't have the luxury to walk out of this room divided. we don't have that luxury. >> president obama issued a statement congratulating perez on his election and also congratulating him on his choice of ellison as his deputy. back to you, eric. >> obama versus standard and sanders endorsed ellison. thank you. >> governors across the country coming together in washington. the national association meeting with mike pence yesterday asking about the presidents promised to repeal and replace obamacare.
2:06 pm
it comes as the leak draft showing a possible gop replacement plan. it could weaken the coverage for many americans. garrett joins us live in washington with more. >> what can you tell us. >> one of the biggest concerns is the issue of medicaid how any plan will affect it . under the affordable care act, 31 states and the district expanded medicaid to make more people eligible and since then ithas added up to about 11 million more people on medicaid . governors from those states are growing concerned about the obamacare replacement plans that scale back the funding that they have received. one of those is john kasich from ohio who met with the president yesterday to discuss the concerns. >> the president was responsive to my concerns about the affordable care act, medicaid expansion. he said he was intrigued with the idea. i don't know where it will all go but i will tell you that the
2:07 pm
president was listening very carefully to what i had to say and he had a very positive response. >> he is one of them number of governments that met with tom price to discuss the concerns and share ideas for how the government could allow the state to have more flexibility in choosing medicaid dollars. there's a lot of concern over congress moving too fast to repeal obama care before a replacement plan is ready. >> the affordable care act was a big cumbersome bill. almost everyone would say that it could be approved. it would be significantly improved but to say we will do that down the road and repeal it without having an idea ofthe replacement , i think in congress we would love to do push on the state. >> you bet there will be a lot more discussion on this issue
2:08 pm
throughout the week with republicans with the repeal and replace plan on monday . >> and q, garrett. we have this alert for you. it's a big question. i will not be attending the white house correspondents association. please wish everyone well and have a great evening. >> that is the official word from the president. there's been a lot of controversy over this with some organizations saying they would not attend if the president was planning to speak. >> we see the attentions in the white house press corps and the president attacking other free press calling them the enemies. bloomberg cancels his after party and benefit vanity fair canceling their party and saying they would not attend. the white house correspondents by the corporations and it goes
2:09 pm
to scholarships so there's a lot of speculation that the media companies could buy the tables and that means they are still doing good with the scholarships but not some. >> what impact will have overall with the intentions that continue? >> we will talk about that in the next hour. the tensions are certainly liking to continue but it will be quite and treating and the man who is honored at the same time during the dinner. president nixon did not attend. >> i think this reshuffles the deck . >> we will continue with it in the next two hours. >> republican law music makers experience a town hall meeting across the country. >> they have been challenging
2:10 pm
legislators and everything from the paris plan to repeal and replace. presidents about their relationship with the russians. some seeing some intense that lawmakers now pull out of attending the meetings and that is causing constituents to be angry. brian is live with more details on this intriguing subject. >> hi, eric. out right now with a rowdy confrontation right here together. it has been going on now for weeks. louis gomer sites public safety concerns posed by violent strains of the left ideology. others like rodney are choosing to have a telephone town hall instead. mary palmer hosted a town hall at the city hall and in hoover. he spoke to the crowd overflowing to the outside there. popular topics that the townhomes have obama care,
2:11 pm
immigration and climate change. some constituents host them themselves and inviting them to attend like and las vegas were an empty suit stood in as a replacement for dean eller and a cardboard cutout stood in as a replacement for bob portman in ohio. still, others like leonard lance of new jersey are embracing meeting with constituents who did not vote for them in fact, he knocked on the idea that these townhomes are being filled with paid protesters. >> i don't think it was true the other night. >> they are organizing the activists to go to townhomes. even publishing a handbook on the web giving step-by-step instructions on how to resist the agenda advising folks to be
2:12 pm
polite but persistent. kim tim murphy did not hold the town hall meeting this week citing the very guide. >> if you look at the guy they don't even have issues. it's orchestrated where they said and they boo when the congressman talks and they are told not to give up the microphones. >> it's not just republicans ã the most vulnerable democrats like claire mccaskill are up for reelection in 2018. avoiding the town hall meetings. >> thanks, ryan. >> meanwhile it's springtime in february and it's supposed to be winter. whether records are set in many cities like boston at 71 degrees there. new york and new jersey at 74. conditions will change drastically.live in the fox extreme weather center ãnamed for the extreme warm temperatures this winter. >> there's a boundary right
2:13 pm
there and you start to see the temperatures drastically as they tried to shove this direction. it's the 24 hour temperature change.43 degrees cooler right now in cleveland than it was yesterday. the cold air interacts with the warm air and we start to see thunderstorms. it's inching towards the east. you could bring on this one just a little bit and what are we looking at? we see large areas where there is severe thunderstorm watches. we've seen the warnings. this is now just beginning to creep up into philadelphia towards new york. you could type it out the rest of the day. it's just through the evening hours and that's where the
2:14 pm
severe threat will continue from now until the evening hours there. it's really by this time tomorrow. we look at more winter like weather conditions settling in. the merging murder of the dictator with concerns on the nation. what it's capable of. growing dangers of the region. >> the white house press corps has been fighting back after the members were banned by sean spicer. it's the breaking news. president trump has decided not to attend that gala.

the cold-blooded assassination for kim jonathan's half-brother. he is now pushing for north korea to be back on the terrorism list.after reportedly use of a highly difficult chemical agent it's allegedly by these two young girls. bringing it to the attention of the threat that continues to pose. it's the international community. it's uncharacteristically
2:19 pm
lashing out against china. some say it's a troubling new development. joining us is lieutenant colonel with the special forces officer of the u.s. army china is now a target . beginning to bite the hand of the longtime protector ãdoes that mean north korea is more unpredictable? >> it does. it also shows the growing disrespect that they have for china. it's really their only ally in the world. it's the trading partner for coal and cash. it's very uncharacteristic of you could use that word to describe north korea. publicly insulting china through the state media. it's very troubling. >> kim jong ãthe regime has assassinated some of its supporters. they have used antiaircraft guns ãflamethrowers and now , this assassination. tell us about it. what is it.

the x2 ãthese are components to use and when put together like what happened here causing the deadly effect. >> eric ãlike anyone paying attention, it's the most deadly out there. in the military we start training in basic training the drop can kill the entire family. it's kind of like an oily substance. it can be delivered through multiple means. it kills you and minutes. the x2 is a binary agent. two compounds that won't kill you separately but were mixed together create be asked to and will kill you. i am paying close attention to the investigation in the airport. seeing if these women each had a separate binary agent. on their face causing the chemical reaction to kill him. >> that seems to explain it exactly.they don't die ãthe
2:21 pm
one reportedly started throwing up. this assassination ãdo you think it's enough to put north korea back on the state-sponsored terrorist list? it was in 2008 with george bush. it's the hopes that the regime changes.>> yes, eric. taking off the list is like trying to rationalize with a drunk person. they have launched dozens of missiles since 2008. they conducted a cyber attack against sony for a perceived impact to their leader. the vx to assassination attempt. they spent agents in another country training for it and rehearsing for it. if that's not international terrorism ãone quick thing about the female they got sick ãshe could've been having a reaction to the antidote to vx which she could've self administered before the attack or right after.
2:22 pm
one of the side effects is nausea and vomiting. >> one of the international james bond mysteries. that's what they wanted. it's trying to have this type of target and the public place. it's staying in power ãhe is threatening south korea. it's much bigger than they realize. the international stage is showing that he has multiple means to attack you and fight back if you decide to attack me in my regime. >> apparently, it's getting the vx from north korea down into the airport. it's potentially how? it can't be searched.
2:23 pm
north koreans have an officer and an ambassador to the united nations.it's a 1976 with a car bomb in washington d.c.. the ambassador ãis it possible? diplomatic pouches to a single vx around the globe and we could potentially have a targeted northkorean attack ? >> sadly, yes. it's much easier than that and we cannot defend against someone traveling to one third country and mailing a binary agent through the mail. having the agent in this country receive it. it's much worse than different diplomatic pouches ãit's just regular international freight with a separate binary agent mixed by the country. it's one of the worst-case scenarios that we are prepared
2:24 pm
for. >> is it really possible? many types of substances or drugsare sent through the mail . a lot of stuff comes into the country and in less we would be doing an analysis for bx binary components it's definitely a scary possibility. >> it's certainly something we will file upon and we could certainly keep an eye on in terms of the terrorist threats that we have in the nation with mitch back. good to see you ãthank you despite the chilling analysis. >> so many on the chemical that they said was used in the attack with the nerve gas agent. it was developed in the 1950s during research to pesticides. it is a band chemical weapon.
2:25 pm
it is known as the most toxic nerve agent in the globe. it is tasteless and odorless and it affects the nervous system when it's placed on your skin. the chemical causes paralysis and suffocation. just 10 milligrams is enough to kill a person and as we saw ã he died in 15 minutes or so. he walked over to officials at the airport and went into the ambulance and was declared dead. >> they work swiftly. >> iraqi troops meeting stiff resistance. they continue to advance into the western half. hundreds of thousands of people were trapped in the area. john is standing by live in the newsroom with the latest. >> this is a vicious fight. itcontinues right now as we speak . several thousand isis militants remain entrenched and western muscle using car bombs, snipers, suicide bombing and even armed drones to attack

when someone told me i had colon cancer. we had the follow up, cat scan which showed that it had gone to her liver. it was pretty intense and we needed to move pretty quickly. we needed a second opinion. that's when our journey began with cancer treatment centers of america. one of our questions was, how are we going to address my liver. so my doctor said i think we can do both surgeries together. i loved that. to find out more about our treatment options, go to cancercenter.com our teams of physicians and clinicians are experienced and compassionate, bringing you a level of care you won't find anywhere else. my health is good. cancer treatment centers of america, you have people that really care. they are my family now. these people are saints. ha, they're saints.

more optimistic. on the party front, they just tweeted they could hold the correspondents dinner without him.he has decided not to attend that epic roast. christianfisher is live at the white house . i guess the president decides to back out of the reshuffling the event coming up >> it's a historic move. maybe even unprecedented. there's a lot going on here. president trump met with governors about repealing obama care. he is preparing for his first big speech to obama care. getting all the attention right now is what president trump just postedon twitter . the big announcement. he will not be attending the white house correspondents association dinner this year. please wish everyone well and have a great weekend. in doing this, he is really
2:33 pm
breaking with a long-standing tradition and not attending this year's dinner and it really just cements the level of hostility between this whit house and the press corps that covers it. it comes after just yesterday , civil news organizations were excluded from an off-camera briefing with sean spicer. many called the move unprecedented and un-american president trump is only intensifying his attacks on the media . listen what he said just yesterday. >> i want you all to know that we are fighting the fake news. it is fake and phony. fake. [cheering] a few days ago i called the fake news the enemy of the people. they are. they are the enemy of the people. they have no sources. they just make them up when there are none. >> one other tweet from president trump is our ãhe said congratulations to thomas

perez who is just been named the chairman of the dnc. perez, the former secretary was widely viewed as the establishment pick in this race. it's at a time when the washington establishment is very unpopular with voters. republican and democratic voters. just a note to the viewers ãit had been before.president nixon back in 1972 set out to dinner and jimmy carter in 1978 ãdid not go and ronald reagan after he was shot by hinckley. he was unable to attend. it has happened but it's pretty rare. with a victory and they went with conservative values.
2:35 pm
our victory was a win for everyone. to stand up for the american worker andstand up for the american flag . a large group of conservatives wrapping up a conference in maryland today. it's the approval rating it's in sharp contrast. the latest news poll last week. that shows the country remains divided down the middle of trump's overall proposal. before i get to that i see donald trump is backing out of the correspondents dinner.
2:36 pm
not a surprise of some knowing there is a contentious relationship between trump and members of the media. some others roasted him. >> i was at that dinner. like many people in the room, i was training for a glimpse of mr. trump. he did not look like he was taking the roasting well. he might want to run for president that very night or next day. he does have some history of being thin-skinned and not liking these ratings. maybe it's just a situation that will benefit both sides. hopefully, many people in my business will with corporate leaders by the tables and play for the scholarship. it helps support for upcoming journalist.
2:37 pm
it's a great public service and calling. it's one of the highest calling that there is under the constitutional system. hopefully will be able to pay to bring new journalists up even though they won't be there. >> let's hope that's what happens. moving along, i want to talk about the fact that there was a high approval rating for mr. trump in the first month in office. with the recent poll shows that 48 percent of us are approving his performance and 47 disapproving. it is divided. you have polls like what you're doing at fox news ãwhat happened at the seatac. >> it's not betweenthe cpap
2:38 pm
number in the national disapproval that we showed there . the conservative movement views the president very difficult different than how it did a year ago when it did not show up. he was a late scratch by his own like this correspondent thing. he decided late in the scheduling process to not attend. he knew he would not be that popular. cpap convention goers did not view him like a leader.
2:39 pm
it does seem that the conference event that the folks there are embracing what seems to be more of a national populist movement. what you think about this? the whole approach is in line with where the conservatives have been. clearly the culture war and things the president has been talking about it state rights ahead of civil rights when it comes to transgender protection. the audience would've like that . but, what's different is that the president campaigned as a big government republican.
2:40 pm
he campaigned for protecting social security, medicare, medicaid on public works. these are not traditional republican things. saying that conservatism is being a defender of the working person ãthat is a very different definition of of conservatism. >> really quickly ãdo you think they have hijacked the conference overall this year? you think that's what happened? >> hi jack sounds pejorative. he is the president. he is the leader of the party. he gets to say what conservatism is. he is the leader of the republican party. it is his party. it seems like at the moment, the conservatives are willing to go along for the ride. >> david, good to see you. give for joining us. >> thank you. >> the horrible opioid epidemic with one state trying to curb it. how doctors regulate medications but for some, it's raising questions about who should be making medical decisions.

[music] people dying from cocaine overdoses. it nearly doubled since the year 2000. researchers say it's because more people are using cocaine and the opiates at the same time. some people may not even be aware of that. it's an effort to prevent the horrible opioid epidemic spread across the country. legislation puts constraints on what doctors prescribe. doctor manny alvarez is here. the editor for foxnews. doctor manny , this causes such pain. such a tragic loss of life across the country.in new jersey with chris christie signing legislation that puts a five day limit on the prescription of opioids. what about this question what do you think it will help?
2:46 pm
>> it's a good idea because we have a huge epidemic here in the united states. people are dying left and right. communities that you would never expect it in new jersey, for instance at 1600 deaths from drug overdose in 2015. it's astronomical. this is a compounding problem. yes, 10 or 12 years ago doctors were forced to pay attention and get prescriptions for pain and that's excessive. it created havoc among doctors and patients to rely on the drugs for pain relief. and, once you become addicted, you can't blame the patient. they don't know what to do. they are shopping for one doctor to the next.the legislation limits the number of days you can receive it's
2:47 pm
the most stringent policy. it's a good idea and there was a lot of complaints use the practical surgical patient for five days is enough. they can come to new york to use prescriptions and go to pennsylvania to get prescriptions. i don't think it will be the solution to the epidemic. >> it's a drug being used from the outside and if you look, for instance, the use of her can. some patients are looking for
2:48 pm
relief.we still have an influx of drugscoming into the country and it has to be stopped . yes, more drug treatment centers and more legislation to make sure we have the monitoring of prescriptions overused by patients and doctors. hopefully it brings down the epidemic. don't call 1-800 heroin? it is not a real number. >> it's the widespread availability also of the opioids. is there an answer beyond the five day three other states with new york, maine and massachusetts. it's unlimited. >> one of the problems with illicit drugs is that they are not pure. people buy a lot of times looking at cocaine for instance, which in itself is a bad drug. with sentinel all of a sudden,
2:49 pm
people think they are doing something that they think is safe. all of a sudden, it's being contaminated with another kind of narcotic and they stop breathing. this is also why every police department right now across the country has to have this injection which is the antidote. again, it's right now where we have to save lives because we have an epidemic. >> bottom line, you think the best way is five days, perhaps? >> i don't think it will be the panacea that everyone expects but it's a good beginning. given a+ for effort to governor christie. >> good to see you.our heart certainly go out to the victims of this horrible epidemic. hopefully there will be some answers. >> and oscar-nominated filmmaker won't be able to attend the big star-studded award ceremony. why he is barred from entering the us. standby. >> a syrian filmmaker is in the

i'm doing all i can to keep from having another one. and i'm taking brilinta. for people who've been hospitalized for a heart attack. i take brilinta with a baby aspirin. no more than one hundred milligrams as it affects how well it works. brilinta helps keep my platelets from sticking together and forming a clot. brilinta reduced the chance of another heart attack. or dying from one. it worked better than plavix. don't stop taking brilinta without talking to your doctor since stopping it too soon increases your risk of clots in your stent, heart attack, stroke, and even death. brilinta may cause bruising or bleeding more easily, or serious, sometimes fatal bleeding. don't take brilinta if you have bleeding, like stomach ulcers, a history of bleeding in the brain, or severe liver problems. tell your doctor about bleeding, new or unexpected shortness of breath, any planned surgery, and all medicines you take. talk to your doctor about brilinta. i'm doing all i can. that includes brilinta. if you can't afford your medication, astra zeneca may be able to help.

3:03 pm
>> a united democratic party is not only our best hope, it is donald trump's worst nightmare. this evening, president trump took to twitter to weigh in on the dnc race. mr. trump tweeted, congratulations to thomas perez who has just been named chairman of the d&c. i could could not be happier for him or the republican party thank you so much. >> on the republican side, results are in from the cpap poll and it shows republicans are warming up to president trump. they decided that they approve of the job they are doing but they are not too happy with republicans in congress. elizabeth is joining us live at the c pack. good to see you. >> typically when we talk about the straw poll results we talk about a name who conservatives want to see in office.

they claim they weakened coverage for medicare patients. what are the governors concerned about exactly with the repeal and replace plan they have for obamacare. >> there are a lot of replace and repeal plans out there but republicans are set to introduce their proposal of choice when they get back in town on monday. a leaked draft was released this last week and it includes significant cuts to medicaid spending and that is one of the biggest concerns for governors. under obama care, 31 states in the district of columbia chose to expand coverage and added an additional 11 million people to their role. under the affordable care act, the government has been covering those cost but that could change. governors both democrats and republicans are now working with congress to ensure that issue is addressed. >> we have over 450,000 people

amounts to a crime and then there was specifics about welfare fraud in fraud against the federal agencies, but again, one thing that kind of went unreported to a great extent is that the doctor program for dreamers is largely unaffected. people have to know that. president obama started that in 2012. thousands of people have been protected by that. it will continue. it's good and bad. again, everybody should take it a little bit easier. i was mentioning to you, and institution i'm associated with says we are going to protect everybody and then it behooves them to throw in, but nobody has been affected by this and i thought that exemplify the fact that the hot button rhetoric and the political discussions are getting a little out of control. >> under the new law also, it's it's interesting that dhs says it will no longer protects, have privacy protections for those

a developing story to tell you about, president trump deciding not to attend the white house correspondents dinner this year. this comes the day after several news organizations were excluded from a briefing with white house press secretary sean spicer. kristin is joining us live. how big of a deal is it that president trump will not attend this years dinner with the correspondence. >> to the average american, probably not that big of a deal, but to the white house press corps, this is corps, this is a huge deal. it really cements the level of hostility between the white house and the press corps that cover it. here's the tweet that started it all from president trump at he said i will not be attending the white house correspondents association dinner this year. please wish everyone well and have a great evening. while this is a big deal, is not unprecedented. nixon and carter didn't go and
3:29 pm
reagan didn't go because he was recovering from assassination attempt. this is the first time in about 36 years that a president has not attended. >> what else is the president up to today. >> he met with two governors, really to talk about their strategy to repeal and replace obamacare. he was also preparing for his first big speech to congress which is take place tuesday night. if his speech yesterday was any indication, he will likely stressed the early achievements of his administration and his ongoing attempts to secure our borders. >> we will not be deterred from this course. in a matter of days, we will be taking brand-new action to protect our people and keep america safe. you will see the action.
3:30 pm
i will never ever apologize for protecting the safety and security of the american people. i won't do it. >> that new action is a revived version of the original travel ban. to his original immigration order and he will likely sign on wednesday which is just one day after his big address to congress. >> thank you. >> we cannot have somebody, i have a friend of mine who was on the campaign and an appointee. jeff session. you will have to use this special prosecutor's statute in office, not just to recuse, you can't just give a tiered deputy, you deputy, you do have to do that. >> that's dial darrell i thought that testified for benghazi, will now he is calling for a special prosecutor to investigate the alleged russian interference of a presidential election and any any possible

3:32 pm
emails, wasn't more than that, where their conversations between the russians and trump administration? so far there is no evidence that there was conversation between, a nefarious relationship between the trump administration and the russians. democrats on capitol hill are having press conferences every day and getting out there on twitter and television talking about this connection. it's reflected in the polls. republicans are feeling the heat and they are saying they be we should just take a look at this and it should be done by a trump appointee. >> that's the point. if they are feeling the heat, do you think the republicans would appoint a special prosecutor. >> i think republicans would love them to appoint a special prosecutor because of trying to make the connection between trump and watergate even though the fbi said there's absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing at all all of the leaks that have come out of the white house have,
3:33 pm
people believe they're coming from former obama appointees who are motivated to make trump look as bad as possible. >> then again you have the reports with repeated contacts and reports all over the place. >> but -- >> it's not intelligence agent, it's russians and their denying wrongdoing. >> those reports also said, in the 18th paragraph, that there was nothing about these contacts that was necessarily wrong. there is nothing out of the ordinary about these contacts and they're not even sure what was going on. you have the senate and house both looking into this. the senate more closely. they look a lot more sensitive to whether trump was connected to this at all. the house intelligence chair doesn't really think there's any connection between the trump administration and the russians. he's looking at it to.
3:34 pm
you right, there are a lot of investigations into this. i can't see as special prosecutor being appointed at this point. there's not a lot of evidence that there's anything going on. a lot of this is really politically motivated. there isn't really any hard evidence. when you talk about that -- >> doesn't merit some investigation. >> and its getting investigated. absolutely, but you are asking if they would appoint a special prosecutor at this point. i don't see it happening. >> a key guy name is felix sauter. he was russian born. he's in the media. he says he's in the media all the time as a russian businessman. he said i came here when i was seven years old. now let's show you what he said to me about this when i asked him pretty sad, i was absolutely not a link between the trump campaign in the russian government. i have no contact with anyone in the government.
3:35 pm
i have no interest in russia or business interest in the ukraine. he was part of that push that supposedly ukrainian police and he has been a business partner with the president when he was a developer here in new york. here you have a guy, they keep on calling me a russian and it's just not the case. is this something the fbi will look into. >> i think the fbi has already been looking into this and they haven't found anything worth pursuing. you do have the house and senate looking into this and they're looking for all the documents and evidence to not be surprised so they can see what's really going on. i think that will help clarify this because it is bipartisan. the american people can have faith in the results of whatever
3:36 pm
they find. i think we will hear from them pretty soon. i think they're taking it seriously. there are questions about what was going on here. the fact is we don't know. a lot of the connections that people are making are politically motivated at this point. we don't have the true facts. there already is a bipartisan investigation happening. if nobody in congress is willing to look at it, there might be more pressure to do that. of course darrell i saw is smart to say that. he says we need somebody independent looking at that. >> there was some breaking news, the white house correspondents dinner and the president saying he's not attending. at the tension field time with the white house and the situation with the attacks on our free and fair media of our country, the very basis. what you think about the president who won't be there.
3:37 pm
>> they count on this dinner to raise money. that's a shame. a lot of people think the dinner should be canceled year after year. it's something about the press rubbing elbows on the rest of the america can quite figure out what it means. i think it has lowered trust in the media because they see the connection and they wonder how honest the relationship is. it's clearly not getting better. he probably felt he would end up being the butt of many jokes at this dinner and he wouldn't get the respect he feels he deserves. i imagine that's the reason he's not doing it. i don't know what message it sends, it widens the gulf between the two sides. it's a pretty dysfunctional relationship.

joining us once again, doctor elevated king, the niece of martin luther king jr. i apologize for the technical difficulty a few minutes ago but we are back up and running. what i wanted to ask you is the fact that even though donald trump is doing a very public outreach to let people know that he believes very deeply about concerns about racism and efforts to end bigotry in this country, there are people in different groups who believe that he is not going far enough. many people didn't vote for him, and even even though he's been very public about this and talking about his museum and why it's important to spend some time there, they feel that it's not sincere. where does that come from? >> when we operate on our feelings rather than facts, our imagination can go in many directions. however, i believe the points
