8:00 pm
and i'll see you on fox news channel for special coverage with bret baier and martha maccallum. that's it for today, have a great week, and we'll see you next "fox news sunday." ♪ another item to look for to this week. we'll cover cover it all on fox news channel. i will see you tomorrow one college honoring white privilege month. what does that actually mean? so you are not white? >> i my telling, i'm american. >> so is it better to have america privilege than white privilege? >> waters world begins right
8:01 pm
now. welcome to waters world from d.c. i'm jesse waters. fake news media thought they had president trump on the ropes. the ministration was a chaos with leaks everywhere until the commander-in-chief call the press conference the flew down to florida despite the football and then double down and cpac. >> we are fighting the fake news. it is fake, phony, fake. a few days ago i called the fake news the enemy of the people, and they are. the have no sources, they just make them up when there are done. the dishonest media did not explain that i called the fake news the enemy of the people. the fake news. they dropped off the word fake. all of a sudden the story became the media is the enemy. they
8:02 pm
take the word fake out. i am not am not against the media, i'm not against the press come i don't mind bad stories if i deserve them. but i am only against the fake news media or press. they shouldn't be allowed to use sources unless the you somebody's name. but there may be put out there. a source says that donald trump is a horrible human being. let them say to my face, i love the the first amendment, nobody loves it better than me. the first amendment gives it to all of us, you, me, me, all americans the right to speak our minds freely. it gives you the right and me the right to criticize fake dues. >> so this is throwing the press into a complete tailspin. >> he's trying to undermine the media make up his own facts and it could be that while unemployment in the economy
8:03 pm
worsens he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think. that is our job. >> did you hear that, she just resealed revealed how the root look at the public. instead of the fox news model, we, we report you to say, the fake news media model is, we control what you think. that's because the media does not trust average americans. if they do, they wouldn't have to lie. but they realize the fake news could not stop donald trump so they kicked it up a notch. >> fake quotes. here is april ryan. [inaudible] when he was chair he said things like. [inaudible] >> why would you say that.
8:04 pm
don't you think of donald trump actually said white americans built this country we have heard that before. because he didn't. here's what he actually said. >> we are people that built this country made this country great. we are all together and we want to get along with everybody. >> so here you have the media concocting fake racist quotes. but it gets worse. abundance and capable and capable of grasping his best appeal resort to -- >> when he said today america first it was not just a racial background to but it was the message. >> when he says the media is the enemy of the people where he sounds more like mussolini or lennon which obviously causes concern, that phrase there makes him sound more like a dictator and training.
8:05 pm
nbc news hitting the trifecta. congratulations. hitler, mussolini, pathetic. trump has been in office a month these dictators have killed millions of people. the only thing trump has killed our regulations. it is front front and center on the ends of many journalists predicting he will incite violence inane than homicide. >> someone who is durational here the language and take action against a journalist either at a rally or in a private setting. somebody's going to get hurt. just like in every other dynamic of my 50 you take someone who has a legitimate reason to be upset and you pump them up and it starts to become a call to action somebody will get hurt. >> the last time i checked it was the democrats causing violence against the election. democrats in berkeley and black lives matter inspired maniac
8:06 pm
shooting inspired police officers in dallas. so now we reached the boy who cried wolf stage. they're destroying whatever little credibility they have left when trump undertakes action and deserves criticism. nobody will listen to them anymore. that's what's dangerous. not trumps quips on the stump. here's how steve bannon assessed the situation. >> just like there are wrong on the campaign just like they were wrong on the transition, they're wrong about what's going on today. there globalist media that are opposed to an economic nationalist agenda like donald trump has. as i could sputter there gonna continue to fight. where is this headed? here's fox news so you have
8:07 pm
white house correspondence making up a fake donald trump quotes. you have to understand why he's angry with these people. >> i can't speak to her he got the quote from. >> from nowhere because it wasn't true. >> let's talk about this. for the past two years donald trump is run for president. he has had falsehoods and made things up like the bowling green massacre or the terrorist attack in sweden. >> wait a minute. he same things are crazy in sweden you would have to admit that. even though it is lower in sweden now than it was before let me make my point. the .. is this. he says these things everything he can agree is newsworthy it doesn't put out falsehoods that
8:08 pm
is false. the synonym for false is fake. so this white this white house traffics in fake news. you can't criticize it if you traffic in it and benefited from it. >> so what he seems to be saying is that he can exaggerate that gives the mainstream media the right to exaggerate as well. is that how you think of this? >> richard, why will you denounce what april ryan said. why is that she criticize by anybody in the media? i don't know where she got the quote from and i think she should source the quote. this has less to do with april ryan and more to do about the cpac. he said you need to release their names. this president has tweeted information that was leaked and said sources are saying or journalists are saying they depend upon confidential sources
8:09 pm
to reveal information. i want to get back to that. then go ahead. in these cases here's the problem. april ryan is wrong. she cannot produce a quote. she will not apologize. she will not retract. her publications will not reprimand her. these mistakes mistakes will keep happening over and over unless there is accountability and unless the media as a whole says you are representing us poorly, your allowing donald trump to use a broad brush to say everything is fake because of mistakes like that. or when the press said the press was going to deploy 100,000 national guard troops to round up illegal aliens. it was completely wrong. when this keep happening it gives them the excuse to use the brush and say fake news all over the place. they're not calling out these people for getting it wrong.
8:10 pm
it's not just creating flight", some of the commentary and we placed it at the top. when you have journalist on major networks same trump is like hitler or mussolini or like lenin, you think that's responsible journalism? >> my point joe is not a journalist, he's a republican operative that turns into -- >> so you would approve of fox news commentator calling president obama hitler. >> it was done. >> wait a second. what fox news commentator called obama hitler it is a job of us pundits to make opinions. we say our opinion i never said that president trump was muslim, hitler hitler or stalin.
8:11 pm
but i think pundits can say that. if you say crazy stuff you can't really stand the air. i'll give you the last word. >> there are five examples after the inauguration speech of reporters including abc news who refer to the president in terms who called it dark and went personal. this is the last word he said american carnage, look it up in the dictionary. so that gives the reporter the right to calm hitler? it's not true. he's talking about things in chicago others cream right. >> thick cream right there is lower than it has been. >> a seven people shot in chicago the other day. >> i'm not saying. [inaudible] crime rate in the united states is down. that's not true. >> it's down across the country.
