don't miss "hannity," he is up next. >> sean: welcome to "hannity," newt gingrich will join us in just a minute. "portraits of courage," president george w. bush's new book. hollywood elites spewing hate and attacking the president at the oscars in a pretty disgusting display. that is tonight's opening monologue. yes, another self-congratulatory award show as if they are not enough. so-called tolerant liberal celebrities gathered last night at the oscars all patting themselves on the back and predictably bashing donald trump. it did not take long for host

[laughter] >> we are at the oscars, the academy awards. you are nominated. you got to come, where families are nominated. some of you will get to come up on this stage tonight and give a speech that the president of the united states will tweet about in all caps during his 5:00 a.m. ball movement. >> sean: imagine if we talked about president obama's 5:00 a.m. bowel movement? where are the awards for firemen, policemen, doctors, and
7:02 pm
people who save other people's lives? we have here holier than thou hollywood elites, they are just huge hypocrites. they destroys everything the president says or does but they stand by in complete silence when president obama said things divisive like this. take a look. >> guns or religion, i need you to go out and talk to your friends and your neighbors. i want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are republican. i want you to argue with them and get in their face. middle-class families up in front, look at that. we can't -- we do not mind the republicans joining us, but they have to sit in the back if they are going to come along for the ride. if you accept the support of
7:03 pm
clan sympathizers before your president, you will accept their support after your president. >> sean: he tore the country apart with that type of rhetoric and instead of calling it out and actually practicing what they preached, the hollywood left stood by president obama every single step of the way. hollywood did not care about obama's failed leftist economic policies and how it led to this country's precipitous decline. heard millions and millions of americans in the process. you know why? you have overpaid hollywood elites, they were not impacted by this. they were not a part of the 95 million americans out of the labor force, the lower's labor participation rate since the '70s. nearly 14 million more americans on food stamps while obama was president or 8 million more americans in poverty. their families weren't struggling like the rest of america to find these jobs, suffering and poverty on food stamps. they did not carry at all that

going the way you are going. the more you continue to undermine the president and country and defend a guy that lectures us when he lives in the number one state sponsor of terror and will not dare take them on -- it means more of the american people will discover how irrelevant you all are. joining us now with reaction, former speaker of the house newt gingrich. how are you? >> i'm doing great. that was white and it will pinning. >> sean: can you give me one award show for nurses, surgeons that save people lives, policemen, garbage, construction workers -- where are there award shows? >> i think that is right but i t shows you what phony to be jimmy kimmel's reasoning was. those folks in hollywood make a

compassion for these groups? apparently not. >> you have to start by saying almost nobody in that room is a serious person. they are all actors that act and they all have a vague unrealistic sense of the world. you should not take them seriously. it is like having a cousin or a brother-in-law who you know it's a doofus and you would not loan him your car. but he comes by and watch as a ball game with you and you go yeah, i understand herbie. these folks are not serious people. they are often great actors and actresses, they produce entertaining products. i love movies. i have loved them my whole life but you should not take them as though they were serious people because nothing they do about the real world is serious except they love money. >> sean: good point and they are not making as much as they used to. you had a great comment about fake news.
7:10 pm
morning what is a new threat. i love the president in his press conference, one of the greatest beat downs i ever witnessed a president give to the press. i wanted to get your reaction to it. why is it so dangerous? >> i think fake news which is only based on fake education is extraordinarily dangerous. it teaches people things that are not true. what president trump said because all the way back to ronald reagan. in his nationwide speech, when he said it is not what liberals do not know that is so dangerous. it's what they know that isn't true that is so dangerous. we have now had 50 years of liberals getting more and more out of touch with reality. we have professors who will bully students to force them to learn things that are false, entire courses in college that are idiotic. and we have reporters who come up through that system and they have as much fake education behind their fake news. it is dangerous for a country.
7:11 pm
you saw this last night. how do you have a serious conversation in a country where you are elites think that iran is okay while the iranians actually put death to israel on the missiles they are testing? is it the level of nonsense. i'm proud of president trump for having the courage to boil down ronald reagan's critique into a very simple phrase. yet fake news based on fake education, this time we take it to head on. >> sean: well said, we will have more with the speaker. we have a new segment, it is called holding washington accountable. earlier today, they asked president trump about the white house correspondents dinner. yesterday we traveled to dallas, texas to talk and sit with george w. bush. we asked about his brand-new book, "portraits of courage" and defeatingrt isis. data and more on this busy

during my recent sit down in my interview with paul ryan, he told me president trump's agenda will be enacted in 200 days legislatively. watch this. >> you are in full agreement with what donald trump ran on. number two, and 200 days from the legislative side, you are going to be implementing every aspect of that agenda that we talked about. >> yep. we have cushioned in our schedule, if anything slips because it's really because of senate issues, we have time to accommodate. i have cushions built into the schedule to make sure this all gets done in 2017, in case something happens and goes sideway in the senate. >> sean: i'm pretty sure that will stimulate the economy and get people back to work. see you in 200 days. >> may be before then. >> sean: we continue with newt gingrich. i gave a pretty hard-hitting
7:18 pm
monologue on this program about how the president is moving at the speed of trump, the speed of light. congress, they said they would have a plan in the first week. then it became the spring, the summer, even something by the end of the year. i went and the speaker said no, it will be legislatively done in 200 days. the health care bill was being scored by the cbo. then on my radio show, i interviewed three people. they all said they had never even seen the bill. that is being scored. i am like, what's going on here? i'm getting nervous. does that concern you? >> no, i think it is a process of people trying to get things done. the legislating process. i think there will be a lot of turmoil, i think paul ryan thinks that. that's why he said i am some cushion. these are huge, huge issues and people can legitimately disagree
7:19 pm
about different parts of it. the leadership is going to have a bill to repeal obamacare and replace it. the leadership is also going to have a tax bill sometime this summer. these are enormous bills. >> sean: how is it possible that they have not shared the bill with the house but it is being scored by cbo and these republicans do not know what is in it? >> because frankly, they will have to keep playing with the bill in terms of legislative drafting until they can get it scored right. i personally would abolish the congressional office, to allow them to be the arbiters. they were totally wrong on obamacare. they're dishonest. they frankly were wrong by such a huge margin. it's absurd to let them be responsible. i understand what ryan is trying to do. he wants to find a bill at the baseline, bring it to the conference and say look, this is a core document. this argue about amendments, a variety of steps. he's not going to get a single
7:20 pm
bill through on that scale without amendments. he knows that. he knows that for example, the freedom caucus, the conservative wing of the party is going to be fighting over a couple of issues. he's also going to raise the question, will they get a single democratic vote? if yes to carry the whole thing on the republican side, he is a relatively narrow margin for error. >> sean: i am impatient by nature. i've had a sense of urgency since i came out of the womb. i like to get things done faster. am i being too impatient and expecting? i'm a little upset that they didn't have a replacement bill already done after election day. it seems like it's going a little too slow for me. is 200 days about it right legislatively? you got a lot done in 100 days. >> we got a lot done in the house in 100 days. but i suspect to go back and look how long it took us working with the senate. these are very different institutions. the challenge that mitch mcconnell has as majority leader with 52 votes in the
7:21 pm
senate is radically different than the challenges speaker ryan has. i like his job better because you have a lot more power and a lot more control. you need to remember, sean, you and i were very convinced that donald trump would win. that it mattered for american history that donald trump would win. but, there were a lot of people that were throwing their hearts into the election. they were not thinking about the stuff. they were thinking about how they would beat hillary clinton. i think this is very different than either reagan -- reagan had 16 years from the time he gave his first goldwater speech to the time he got to be the president. i had ironically 16 years from the time i arrived as a freshman until we became a majority and i was speaker. we need to speak it through, work with people like the heritage foundation, it is totally different with this new president. i can tell you, trump is so different from any president
7:22 pm
i've ever seen. we have to go back in many ways to answer jackson, to have a real feel for him. theodore roosevelt. this guy is different. now you have ryan, at one point there was a real tension. you had ryan and trump like thi this. reince priebus is doing a great job because as paul ryan's closest friend, he is donald trump's chief of staff too. they are gradually coming together. that's a big deal. >> sean: 200 days you think is a real possibility in terms of the time frame. listen, i am willing to take the speaker at his word but i was surprised that a fellow congressman, republicans, i will keep an eye on it. i will hold them accountable. >> no, no. we should. let me say this. mcconnell and ryan are both strong, mature personalities. they centralize things more than i would but that is their style.
7:23 pm
they are now working with trump and they are getting to know each other better and better. these are three really determined people. i suspect that 200 days fits exactly within where the trump team wants to be and you know me, this stuff breaks down, i will be on the show saying it is breaking down. i am not going to cover for them. but i am moderately optimistic. >> sean: i was more optimistic than when i talk to him than after. newt gingrich, he will be back with us tomorrow night. we will be in d.c. at 11:00 p.m. eastern. we will be reacting to president trump's address. the fox & friends team interviewed president trump at the white house today. ainsley air ainsley earhardt wi. i travel down to dallas, texas to interview president george w. bush about his new book, "portraits of courage" and

he seemed to take the oscars issue pretty well. i was on the other side, i was thinking maybe he should not tweet. i think it works. i like it. >> he says the people that do not like his tweeting, those are the enemies. we asked him specifically. many people are wanting to stop attacking your enemies. the people that want him to stop attacking, he says, they are the enemy. >> sean: set your alarm, wake up early. watch ainsley earhardt's interview tomorrow morning, 6- 6-9:00 eastern. i traveled down to dallas to talk with president george w. bush about his book and isis. later tonight, sheriff david clarke in studio. and relieve foot, knee or lower back pain from being on your feet. dr. scholl's.

you've only been painting for five years. less than five. how did you pick it up? >> well, i was a little antsy. then all of a sudden, you are not the president. i spent a lot of time here at the bush center come up putting programs in place that will make a difference in people's lives. i wrote two books. i'm staying fit, i am mountain biking. using the elliptical. i played a fair amount of golf but it was not enough. i read winston churchill's essay "painting as a pastime." >> sean: you started painting pets? >> i did bob the cat. i was a pet portrait painter. kind of hard to say. >> sean: [laughs] >> the good thing about painting pets, they really do not react when they see their painting. >> sean: so they can't say it's good or bad.

>> then i started getting into landscapes and then my first instructor at smu came and said you ought to paint the leaders with whom you served. and i did. we had an exhibition here, putin and blair, the dalai lama, angela merkel. they were okay paintings. the most important part of it was i had gotten to know them so well during the presidency i felt comfortable painting them. we had a personal diplomacy exhibit here which i think it's really important in life, i know it is important for a president to know the leaders from other countries. i had two new instructors, one is a young guy that paints really fine portraits. he said you ought to paint people nobody knows. and it just dawned on me -- boom, warriors i had gotten to know. so i painted all these warriors, i know everyone of them. i know their stories.
7:39 pm
i have written mountain bikes and played golf with them and i admire them greatly. >> sean: in the course of the year, i think the 60 some odd warrior paintings here -- >> on the montage, there are another 30 some. about 98 warriors in one year. >> sean: that's a lot of painting. how long would it take you to paint one person? i saw the pictures of them. i know in the book you call yourself a novice -- this is not the work of a novice. >> i think it is but thank you, that is flattering. he just paint until you finish. that's one of the many questions for any artist. i would be painting milo and look at his painting and i would say i would paint on him some more. it was a process. even when i look at them now, i kind of wish i had my paint and it would touch up a few things but it never really ends.
