>> here is the assumption, period. whether you are using your personal email or not for government work, just make the assumption that the whole world did see it because, guess what? they can. so, the fact of the matter is it's not the best idea to use your personal email, special if yoespecially if you have encryption at work. steve: he had account. what he did by law is absolutely safe. big difference with hillary clinton she had top secret stuff on hers. he did have sensitive stuff brian. ainsley: she had a private server. steve: she had a private server as well. people are saying it's exactly the same thing. it's not. >> it's not the same thing but at the same time, again, i just don't see the smoke from any fire here. i just don't. steve: regarding hillary, did you have a problem with her with private email server and then. >> you're not going to like my answer and reason is because, you know, honestly, the state

weekend. even when he golfs is he with somebody that is going to help him with business. or a staff. donald trump on television he understands optics. he evidently got off the plane and was wearing a suit. he looked around and gave him a jacket. bomber jacket. he said i'm going to put it on and he wore the hat. how great does that look standing in front of the troops with the hat and the jacket on. steve: they just made it for him to take home. he said i'm going to put it on right now. brian: great instinct. ainsley: love that he did that. brian: let's talk about what happened yesterday. i'm sure this would have been the number one story him going to christen the u.s.s. gerald where ford. attorney general and what he said during confirmation hearings when it came to his relationship with russia. he wasn't clear that he did have relations with the ambassador. just they met a couple of times but it was about his duties as a member of the armed services committee. ainsley: he denied misleading the senate and denied having

conversations tying the president's campaign to return shah. listen. >> i don't think what was said about that meeting i had with the russian ambassador was legitimate. i think it was behind beyond reason. and i think it was unfair. and i was glad to be able to address it today. we had started, when i got confirmed, i told the senate during that process that i would review issues before me to determine whether or not i should recuse myself. recusal is not an admission of any wrongdoing. it is simply that whether or not you can be perceived as fairly deciding a case or evaluating a case. steve: okay. so he has recused himself. he said look, i worked on the campaign. so if there is a campaign investigation, i'm not going to be part of it, the democrats were calling for a recusal. they got it now some are calling for him to resign or. ainsley: that's not going to happen. steve: perjury which clearly was not perjury.

we had dr. charles krauthammer on this show yesterday. and he was talking about how, you know, there is a lot of smoke here but no real fire. plus, we also had somebody else on who is in the congress who said, look, one way or another, people misstate things all the time in front of congress. it's not a crime. and jeff sessions did say later that he was going to write a letter to the jewish committee explaining what he meant. brian: just to paraphrase real quick the things that senator mccaskill underlined everything wrong with this process and looked for scandal. if i'm on the armed services committee and i don't meet with ambassadors really? they went back to twitter feed and sorry a picture of our meeting with the russian ambassador. you not telling the truth leading into that? she said well it was because i couldn't finish out of my tweet never met one-on-one. ainsley: if you read what she tweeted out in 2013. off to meeting with russian ambassador. upset about the arbitrary cruel decision to end all u.s. adoptions. even those in process.

then in august of 2015, she tweeted. this today called with british, russian, and jerry plan ambassadors regarding iran deal. doing my homework. brian: good job. steve: there is clearly a double standard with the democrats. nancy pelosi was asked yesterday so, why, exactly, is this different than, for instance, when loretta lynch met with bill clinton? and she goes oh, well, it's completely different. it's as different as night and day. it's not. because she was actually through the fbi she headed up was investigating the clinton foundation. and then just look at the former attorney general holder. keep in mind. he lied about selling guns to people in mexico. and then he was found in criminal contempt of congress. and never reciewsed himself. stayed on the case. brian: no interest in john koskinen and those illegal moves when he was investigating only conservative groups. remember that as head of the irs. just on your thing.

that tweet, nancy pelosi was asked by own chad pergram about why isn't this like loretta lynch meeting with bill clinton. she said that was serendipity. started talking about grandchildren. i don't know that loretta lynch has grandchildren. was it a one-sided conversation? steve: jeff sessions says i don't really remember much about the conversation but i think we talked about our grand kids. that would have been hilarious. ainsley: would they have given him a pass? steve: he said what he remembered they talked about you corroborate. they talked about terrorism. and it was kind of gossipy. meanwhile we had jay christian adams, former department of justice official on this program just about an hour ago. he said, look, the democrats, this is all they've got. they are trying to distract and this is all part of their plan. right now, folks, we are in phase one. >> this is part of a pattern. first they came for steve bannon. then they came for general flynn. now it's sessions. this is how the democrats are

going to behave to delegitimize the president to make jeff sessions worry about this instead of the corruption that obama and holder left in his justice department. it's part of a governing strategy by the democrats. they personalize and polarize people and attack them. doesn't have to do with policy. they don't like the election in november. that's why they are attacking sessions. ainsley: that's right. they are trying to sabotage president trump. yesterday, there was a fox news poll came out. said the majority of you, the voters, are saying move on from protesting donald trump. give him a chance. brian: all voters. i think it's time for everybody in the trump organization and the campaign. have you to come clean and think about what you might have done and what you might have said and get it out now because it's going to come out. part of the reason gave a formal announcement that jared curbnekushner did meet with genl flynn. can you stop investigating that. that's been exposed. everything else has been exposed. i wouldn't blame the president for being really upset about

this. i think it totally caught him by surprise. ainsley: if you are senator you meet with ambassadors. search on certain committees you meet with certain ambassadors. brian: say it. ainsley: as big as the bible. everyone does that. brian: everybody in the trump organization and campaign has to come clean on anything they did with the russians because if they have nothing to hide, you could stop every investigation in its tracks. steve: here's the problem. a lot of people in washington meet with the russian ambassador. everybody heastles met with the russian ambassador. he is a very social guy. he goes to all sorts of things around town. in fact, he was at barack obama's white house at least 22 times according to the visitors log. where is the outrage about that? going forward though, keep in mind, here's how you get in trouble. okay, i met with the russian ambassador and we talked about the campaign when i was working on the campaign. that's much different than when i was a u.s. senator on the armed services committee and we talked about the ukraine, that's okay. and that is what jeff sessions said he did. it's not like they sat together in the one-on-one

meeting and the russian guy hands him a big envelope full of 50's and microfilm. that never happened. talked about terrorism and gossipy stuff. ainsley: anything you talk with the campaign. someone from the campaign met with russia, of course think are going to talk about the campaign in some capacity and say how are the elections going over there? steve: the way washington is set up it is against the law to be in your office and talk your campaign. it's called the hatch act. if he had been doing that it would have been in violation of the law anyway. brian: no one can pay for your meal. i am wondering where the voices were when loretta lynch sat on the tarmac and had a conversation with bill clinton during fbi investigations against his. why. ainsley: searching for anything they can get their hands on and use whatever rhetoric they can find to disrupt donald trump and his administration. their motives are not pure and not for the country but for themselves. steve: dave is tweeting the president of the united states

before the movie starts and, steve, you're going to love this if you see it i know you and i have very similar taste in certain films. steve: fantastic. you give the new movie before i fall three out of five. tell us about that. >> a lot of critics are saying this is a very similar to groundhog day meets mean girls. the idea that zoey deutsche's character. she is reliving the same day over and over again. and something tragic happens at the end of the day. the film itself is actually very well done. she is fantastic in the movie. i thought it was a little flat at times. and i found some of the characters to be over the top. i gave it a 3 out of 5. worthy of matinee. ainsley: i know the christian community is so excited about the next movie the shack. what did you think. >> i loved the message of this film. about forgiveness and overcoming tragedy. sam's character in the film deals with the death of his daughter and returns to the scene of the crime where he spends a weekend with god and jesus in the shack. it's a really powerful film about a father questioning his

problem when the president told all three of you a few days ago about the messaging being a c that here is another example where they said in the morning he doesn't need to recuse himself. there is nothing to recuse here and a few hours later jeff sessions is recusing. he had opened the door himself in the morning when he told reporters in there isin is something to recuse here i will do that. they know he is not going to resign over. this and the democrats are just going full bore over that the recusal is probably the smart thing to do. because you try to push this aside and say, look, he was -- putting aside what he said before the senate judiciary committee he was one of the most important surrogates. he endorsed donald trump early on when everyone else was going it rubio or cruz. brian: he should have known better. >> get on the sidelines here. you can't possibly be the chief law enforcement officer overseeing what is now a serious fbi investigation of what happened. and in the end, maybe nothing will be there. let's not forget the big "new york times" story a couple weeks ago everyone keeps

forgetting that really opened the door to a lot of this said in the middle of the story not at the top there may not have been anything improper about these contacts between the russian government, russian officials and the trump campaign. people seem to forget that when they do these hysterical stories. brian: you know what they don't want? they don't want a special prosecutor. they don't want a ken starr. that's what democrats want. >> democrats want that because once the door is open with a special prosecutor it's going to become ken starr looking at other things. what else happened in the campaign? look, no campaign, no administration wants that. because once they start going through they will find other stuff. ainsley: rush limbaugh agrees with you. the writing is on the wall. these are democrats trying to sabotage donald trump and his campaign. listen to this and get your reaction. >> this story is not about jeff sessions. this story is not about illegal talks between trump and his campaign people and the russians. this story is barack obama and

the democrat party attempting to sabotage the trump presidency and do everything they can to either render it meaningless and ineffective or to get him impeached or force him to resign. that's what the story is. and that is what has to be attacked. not defended. we have no reason to be on defense all the time. we won the election. these people are barely hanging on. this is all they've got. and there's no evidence, despite a year and a half of allegations of illegal contact between trump, his campaign, and the russians. there is no evidence. >> there is a lot there. i agree with his broad point that this is not about the russians. this is not about sessions. rush limbaugh is exactly right. this is the democrats trying to explain the last election and now moving forward trying to undermine donald trump every turn. that part is true.

here is the part that i think he failed to mention that republicans need to think about. the trump administration needs to stop giving democrats god iron that then. look at michael flynn. it's not that he lied to the democrats about his contacts. he mislead the vice president. the man on his team. that was where mike flynn tripsd up. and with jeff sessions, look, i heard what he said earlier, he didn't commit perjury. it's clear how he answered the question. but did he answer the question perfectly? should very cleaned that up? probably so. and the president acknowledged that so, my point is, rush limbaugh is right. however, the trump administration itself needs to stop stepping on this. brian: jared kushner stepped up yesterday and said i did meet once. >> there is an another example. brian: example of proactive kind of. >> go back to what lanny davis did in the clinton days. okay, let's get a piece of paper. everyone who met with a russian official get it on this piece of paper today and put it out friday afternoon.

because every time the "new york times" calls and said jared kushner met two times. to rush limbaugh's point you know there are people inside the fbi and elsewhere who have this information. they are dribbling it out. and donald trump is right about the president is right about that. ainsley: waited until after his successful speech to say all right, now's the time. >> sure. what do you do about it? number one, you get the information out there yourself and level with the american people and say here is every person who met with a russian official there is no there there. we didn't give them anything. ainsley: what about the vice president? when he was governor of indiana he used his private email account to discuss state business. >> there is a scandal here. we learned the vice president is still using aol.
