enough in terms of sparks to get to the bottom of this, trump administration should want an investigation, if they do in the believe there is wrong doing, that would clear the air on this. and you know, if you have nothing to hide, why not be supportive of the investigation. arthel: there is a growing list of contacts between trump associates and russian officials, emerging in recent weeks, as today we're reporting. can this be sloughed off as a political witch-hunt or is there something underlying that could have intelligence community itching to get to bottom of? >> i don't think it is a political witch-hunt, you had republicans and democrats looking at classify information and senators from both sides saying there were still more questions, mccain said the investigation needs to run its course, it is unclear what might be the issue, i am not saying there is a collusion of russian hacking on the election, but perhaps other problem, maybe compromising information with

heller or financial dealing that were problematic. against all speculation without seeing classified information that is part of the investigation and without talking to individuals, there are a view different scenarios of different leveling of gravity, to rule them out, an investigation does need to run its course. arthel: talk about something else, federal officials reportedly opened a criminal investigation into leaked trophies of classified documents describing cia cyber operations for everybody to see, what do you think that attorney generallial jeff sessions and trouble trouble to do any -- trump administration should do about assange the founder of wikileaks? >> sure, sean spicer and president made statements about this, you go they did not come out condemning assange and wikileaks be they caulked aboutt

if it was a disgruntled insider who acted on their own. it is too early to say, what happened here. i have no bought that fbi and the cia in coordination with the investigation will get to the bottom. arthel: back to some something you touched on a little bit. saying that you feel that president trump should want to get to the bottom of all of these leaks. trump administration has said, they don't like it either, and they are saying, it -- that hold over from previous administration. what is it that in terms of information that the president had, president trump, has at his finger tips. where would you recommend he go to pinpoint what is happening? >> there are two issues, on the russia scenario, everything going on with campaign associates and meetings, the trump administration could get out ahead of this, by releasing

timelines, and information on meetings and contacts their campaign officials had, that could stop a lot of the questions and serve to make it less of a distraction for their other issues on their agenda. in terms of leaks coming out of intelligence community, potentially, that problematic. if a person is going to commit a crime and do this, they are going to commit a crime and do this. but if an insider turns, it is difficult to prevent. the administration become out with strong condemnation for them, also overtime if you build trust that is helpful in terms of leaks. >> what are americans to think? we're supposed to trust everyone in intel community? >> yeah, i do think that this is hurtful in terms of how it makes the intelligence community look. they have lost some very classified information.

so the question, how do you get that to happen. u.s., and china will have to find a way to talk to each other, and cooperate. neither of them want north korea to go crazy, and develop nuclear weapon, that works again chinese self interest. the question, is that china and u.s. have a lot of problem right new in our relationship. the question is with can we work around them. i think that it should be agenda item number one. arthel: and north korea looks like they will have nukes pointed at japan and china, or whatever they want. >> right. arthel:? what direction could new leadership in south korea go with north korea? and china that could be beneficial in some way to south korea? >> i think from the get g just at one level, it is important that south korea have a president.

they had a domestic crisis. south korea has been missing in action on the bench when the important things are happening. it is great that south korea will finally have all leader and government that can stand in and deal with the process of dealing with this. polls suggest that maybe liberal candidate in south korea politics may win after 9 years of conservative rule. unfortunately u.s.-koran relation we have a -- korean relations, we have south korea leaning one way and u.s. leaning another way. but i don't think that president trump set his policy yet. they are having a policy review, they -- there are some things that have been linked. but i think that anything is possible, imglad they are taking their time, and thinking it through. arthel: where of the political and security landmines in this?
