i think it's significant that he appears to have had somewhat of a ramshackle plan. he tried to grab the gun of the soldier. i heard that there was a lighter found in his backpack. i haven't been able to verify that yet. this sounds like an individual who was acting with some individual intent, maybe an isis-inspired rather than isis directed but definitely he's following the path of the behavior of most terrorists from radical islam. that's what it seems like. sandra: and doctor, when you look back at the terror attacks that france has seen over just the last two years, the shooting and nies -- nice terror attack, the length -- list is getting lengthy. how is france and the officials there, how are they going to

change their way about going about protecting from these types of attacks specially after this one? >> i think it's important to say that the french authorities did an incredible job apprehending him in minutes. we knew when he had an attack like this, public areas and airports are becoming increasingly lethal for passengers because screening cannot be performed there. within 80 seconds in ft. lauderdale were lost and they saved a lot of lives. they are going to need to engage more human intelligence, more policemen inside airports, we knew this person was back and forth with the authorities, radicalization going on in french prisons as well so multiprong approach. it's something that the authorities cannot do, citizens have to get involved. he also texted family members on the way during this attack, i

an explosive device. man pulls up says he has a bomb in the car and police arrest him and now police are going through the car to see if there is in fact, explosives. sandra: we don't have any other details. he's not been released yet. that was a secret service checkpoint at the white house that that car pulled up and said, i have an explosive device on board at which time they immediately deem -- >> deem it a suspicious vehicle. ten hours after there was another individual who attempted to jump a bike rack over to deliver a document. >> we want to bring former secret service agent under president bush and obama, dan, dan, you made headlines last week on the show when you said that you don't believe that the president is safe at the white house. i guess this adds further tinder on your fire. >> yeah, you know, ironically the security plan seems to have worked pretty well the last few days. they had the fence jumper who

the students requested a pace inside the public school to pray and the school afforded it, what do you think of that decision? >> a prayer room and that exists everywhere across the united states, big employers provide and in airports we have a chapel where people can go pray. it's not necessarily just for muslim students, it's for anybody, anybody of faith that wants to use a room to communicate with their creator. so i think this is hyperbolic in trying to make it about muslim and creating controversy where one doesn't really exist. >> the district say that is students of all faiths can use it but used it mostly exclusively by muslim at 30 minutes a day at 2:00 o'clock. this religious liberty or do you feel that there's a double standard and muslim students are afforded in public schools where christians long ago were not? >> i'm going to surprise you by my answer, i believe that as long as students had equal access to this room it's not a first amendment issue and i

think we really as conservatives need to be careful that we don't pervert the first amendment like liberals do to use it for their own agenda. the first amendment simply says that congress cannot accomplish a state church and coerce people to worship in it. it has nothing to say about nativity scenes or prayer in the public schools and the liberal judges have used the first amendment to try to ban all religious expression, conservatives should have no part of that whatsoever. let me just say -- >> i have to press you on that. of course, it's freedom of religion but for christians, the bible, prayer, any activity during school time or school resources, ten commandants, crosses anything they have been pushed out of the public scare. don't you feel like this is a double standard, they are opening the door to muslim students when christians have been pushed out? >> well, i agree with you

wholeheartedly, we as christians don't have to push down somebody else's religion. we need to fight for the religious freedom of all christians. that's why we are grateful that we have a president like donald trump who is going to appoint judges and justices who interpret the law according to what the constitution actually says and not according to what liberals wish it said and the constitution does not prohibit religious expression in public or in the school. >> of course, i want to end with you, when i was in high school in late 90's, i was part of fellowship of christian athletes, we tried to have access, you can't have access to anything during school, it has to be after school, if you want to have any religion observance, do you acknowledge that there's fear if they don't give a prayer room to muslims when christians long ago had not been afterred the same opportunity? >> well, look, i worked in the george bush administration when they were putting the faith-based initiative from the white house. there was an effort to try to

is detained right now, he was immediately taken away and he is being questioned, but the second incident in a week here. clayton: the third incident in the week. part of the reason this is so significant because earlier in the day another person tried to jump the bike rack and get in on pennsylvania avenue claiming to go on and get a document to the president. of course as we've talked about quite a bit is the other guy that jumped the fence was inside the white house grounds for 16 minutes. that becomes a pretty big store. pete: kristen fisher is down at mar-a-lago. have we heard anything from the white house yet on these security scares? >> no response from the white house just yet. typically in the events like they they just like to refer us over to the secret service and that's exactly what's happened in this case. this is a big deal because now we're talking about the third big security scare at the white house in just one week, and this is latest one happened around 11 o'clock last night. someone driving a vehicle pulled up to a secret service security

checkpoint and then, according to a law enforcement official, told the secret service officers that were there that he had a bomb, that he had some kind of explosive device inside that vehicle. well, of course, that person was taken into custody, the vehicle was then searched and declared suspicious, and really the only official comment that we've gotten is from the secret service, and i want to show it to you guys right now. it reads "in accordance with proper protocols, secret service personnel increased the posture of readiness due to the fact that this is an ongoing criminal investigation, the secret service will not provide any further details at this time." if you look at the big picture here and take it all into context yesterday before this car incident somebody jumped the bike racks and then tried to get to the fence and these are the smaller bike racks before the fence. nobody was hurt. no big deal there. but then exactly one week ago you had somebody actually jump the white house fence and was on white house grounds for about 16 minutes, made it all the way to

his son, barron trump's birthd y birthday. happy birthday to him. clayton: it's gonna be a very busy week for the president and the vice president because they're trying to get support right now from the house members who were "no" votes on the repeal and replacement of obamacare. call it ryancare, call it trum trumpcare and so the vice president is out and the president now cracking the whip trying to get these guys from "no" to "yes." pete: they're anticipating a vote late this week maybe thursday, so you've got until thursday to get a majority in the house to pass this bill. you've got all democrats against it. that's a given at this point in time. they're not gonna vote for it. you've gotta get this freedom caucus members. a meeting the president had on friday in the white house, two freedom caucus may have come over in support of the bill because of some modifications, so a little bit of give-and-take going on. mike pence was in florida at the club for growth in palm beach. here's a guy very conservative trying to get them on board. sandra: as we know the president has thrown his full support behind this.

he's been out there selling it, and, as we know, he was up for negotiations. he went on with jesse watters last night in an interview and said this. >> well, i think it's going to be never easy. you know, health care is a very complex subject. i've been saying that for a long time. now people are agreeing with me, they understand. and not complex for the ordinary reason, jesse. it's complex because you take this group and you have to make them happy and they become unhappy. now you make them happy and they become -- so it's back and for h forth. the answer is yes, we're gonna get something done. i think it's gonna be terrific, and it's gonna be so much better than obamacare, which really doesn't exist because if you allow it to exist for another year, it's gonna implode. but if i put together a perfect democrat bill on health care or anything else for them to sign, you wouldn't get one vote. pete: this is arm twisting, the art of the deal, this is the moment, right? you've got camps entrenched that want changes. you can only make some changes that will make other people unhappy. this is what he sort of came to

>> there's some arm twisting but also some caving that's going n on. remember there was this phrase " "binary choice" that house speaker ryan kept using, meaning in effect you're gonna either take our bill or you're gonna have to live with obamacare as it exists and as it is falling apart. that didn't work. they're gonna have to make changes. what you're gonna see this week is a manager's amendment which is several caves by the house republican leaders particularly on medicaid. there's talk now about a work requirement. any able-bodied person receiving medicaid would have to work in return for getting those benefits to try to pick up some conservative votes. if they get enough votes, this is gonna go to the house floor and we'll get a vote on thursday maybe into friday morning to pass it and send it off to the senate where there will have to be more changes. >> do you think they're gonna get the votes, chris? >> i don't know. i will say this. they are not gonna bring it up for a vote unless they sure they

disney's had so much discuss with these live action remakes. i loved the jungle book remake, i loved cinderella, and i'm gonna get to what i didn't like about this film shortly, but what i loved about this movie is dan stevens as the beast. he is absolutely brilliant. and here's why. when you're watching the film, the beast is done through computer graphics, but there's actually a person behind that g cgi character doing the work. so on set when emma watson's crossing the beat, he's standing there on 10-inch stilts with a 40-pound body suit with dots all over his body and then they recreate the character from that performance. they also do facial capture. but even more impressive is he actually drops his voice to become the beast. there are some effects there, but watch how he changes his voice and his facial expressio s expressions. watch this. >> what would a guy who's very vain who is suddenly being cursed with this look and given like these hideous teeth. if you try and hide them, your mouth ends up going quite down.

on top of which he's a very, very grumpy character so your mouth gets longer, the larynx gets stretched, this voice comes out that's very much deeper and he's sort of speaking from the bottom of his body. he's also a big guy. you know, there's a lot of resonance there. >> it's amazing how he does th t that. it really is. and also this is very similar to how andy circus did gollum in lord of the rings and king kong, planet of the apes, he's guessing. i love luke evans in the film. he's born to play gaston. gad is great at le fou. emma watson was fantastic in the harry potter films. i don't think she's a strong enough singer for this part. these songs are amazing. and i think that every actor has the right to play any role they want, but there are certain songs that just don't do well, and i think that they're amazing lyrics and amazing moments in this film that could have been

better with a possible stronger singer, so just overall that to me led to the idea that i didn't feel the connection between the best and belle. i was more focused on the supporting mcgregor, emma thompson is mrs. potts, that stuff is amazing. i gave the film a 3 out of 5. to me it's not as great as the original. it still works, it's beautiful to look at. i just hoped for a stronger performer in that role. and, by the way, to show you how much is movie's meant to me over the years, sandra, this movie has meant so much to me as well because my mom and i danced to "beauty and the beast" at my wedding back in october so a couple of weeks ago i sat down with the composer who wrote the music for that film, alan mankin and an hour beforehand i was told he had a piano, told my mom to be by her phone, she had no idea, and then this moment happened. watch this. ♪ as old as time

♪ >> unfortunately, chicago crime continues to soar. so far this year more than 100 murders and more than 600 shootings. so how are faith leaders in the community trying to fight this rise in crime? here to share his story is the senior pastor of harvest chicago west, john kelly. john, thank you very much for joining us this morning. you've got your own personal story. you were involved in some crime, turned your life around, went into the community. as a pastor in some of the most dangerous neighborhoods of chicago, what are you doing right now to try to address this problem? . clayton: you know, first, thanks so much for having me on this morning. >> absolutely. >> one of the things i'm try to do personally and you will say a aour church is being intentional about being on the ground with the people. you know, you can provide resources in the community which we desperately need, but, you know, you have a lot of fathe

fatherless homes, you have a lot of young men who have no guidance, so even right now our church currently meets at michelle clark high school in austin. we went to reach the young men and women there. we also partner with the police department, the 15th district in our community, and they also give us the worst street corners in our neighborhood. and in the summertime we take those corners over with other churches, we go out there and pray, we talk to the young lady, we connect with people in the community. one of the things we're trying to do now is really be aggressive of being on the streets, being on ground level in the front line with the young men who are actually on the corner, caught up in this violence. >> jonathan, obviously you were once convicted of third-degree murder, turned your life over as you said, so you've got the personal experience, "hey, i turned my life around. you can too." what i love about your story you're out there on the streets. you're finding the five most dangerous street corners. what happens on that wednesday

nights and you're panders with the police and on those street corners that are normally violent? >> yeah, you know, i think people are shocked. i think a lot of time people don't expect the pastor to be on the corner or people be on the corner actually on the ground, but, you know, we don't get any push-back in any way. we get a ton of support from other churches, other businesses men and women on the streets. a lot of people, even law enforcement have been very supportive of us and it's been a good way of try to help people get connected into the church, get connected to resources, and also understanding that there are people out there like them, you know, been through the same thing, to have change and turn their life around. so it's been a very impactful in a massive way. >> jonathan, president trump talks a lot about the forgotten men and women of this country and sometimes the assumption in the media is he's talking about white working-class voters only. i think part of what you're talking about is that forgotten man and woman in the inner city of chicago who just wants a safe street and a good school and opportunities for their kids. what you're talking about is creating that environment. what more can or should be done by, say, leaders in chicago or

others to foster this -- you're doing your part but what more to foster so that opportunities are equal for at-risk kids and others? >> yes, i would say first off only the gospel of jesus christ can take a dark heart that thinks it's okay to take another life and change it. and i think i'm a testimony of that. but also at the same time, austin, the neighborhood we're in, here's another fact, the neighbor of austin that we're in the unemployment rate last year was 21%. and so, i mean, that's some of the numbers near the great depression. and so you have people who have a lack of resources, a lack of economic opportunities, massive fatherlessness, and so all the things that would allow them to flourish are not available. yet there's a liquor store on every single corner. a young kid can get an assault rifle with ease. everything that would destroy them is right at their fingertips. and so there needs to be resources provided into the neighborhood, jobs and economic
