never used, tested in 2003, the m.o. ap is a bond that is pushed out of the back of a c-130 aircraft. its blast radius is 1 mile wide, the top general in afghanistan didn't need to ask permission to conduct the strike, the target of the explosion was a series of tunnels near a province, mega heart and american greenbrae was killed by small arms fire, green beret. part of an ices clearing operation, the u.s. military said the strike today was not in risk allocation for the green beret's death. after meeting with nato secretary at the white house, national security advisor is leaving soon for afghanistan and the top commander in afghanista afghanistan, john nicholson, testified recently that he needs

send to north korea and syria, let alone isis? >> first of all, the decision to use the largest nonnuclear bomb we have was a symbol of strengt strength. and it's also a reminder both to the russians and to the north koreans. though we have enormous assets if we want to use them. i think it's very interesting. you now have with general mattis and with general mcmaster, real professionals that are giving the president serious civil advice. something that president obama always rejected. when the president turns and says what are my options? there are a lot more options than obama ever thought they were. >> kimberly: it's very interesting you bring this up, a markedly different approach to foreign policy, to military intervention -- we have seen in less than the first 100 days of

the president being in office. >> i wrote a newsletter last week pointing out that there are a lot of parallels between president trump succeeding the weakness of obama and president reagan succeeding the weakness of jimmy carter. they both had decisive moments. in reagan's case it was shooting down two libyan aircraft and in the president's case, it was firing tomahawk missiles while at dinner with the chinese president. >> kimberly: subtle. >> somebody made a comment to me that which is fascinating. if you have video of the russian president meeting with rex tillerson, hillary clinton, it shows you how much power tillerson carries because he is different than the other people and i thought that it was a fascinating commentary on what

a great job second tillerson has been doing for america. >> kimberly: you see a lot of feedback, i thought it was very strong and decisive. he showed no hesitation in bringing up directly to putin and the individuals there all of the issues and problems that the united states has with russia while this must've been quite a surprise for the people who thought the president was going to be chummy with putin. >> he would like to be friends with russia. he doesn't have any great interest in going out of the way to start a fight but he's not going to give an inch on things like gassing children which i think really got to the president emotionally. and the fact is, rex tillerson -- when he was the head of exxonmobil had negotiated several multibillion dollar deals with the russians. he knows how to deal with them, he's not afraid of them, he's not confused by them and without

being hostile, he was very direct. >> kimberly: absolutely. you have to be firm and now we are getting to see exactly what kind of president mr. trump is and he's being very true it seems to me to his campaign promises in being decisive and using the strength of the american military which he has already shown a great respect for. north korea, new reports said that north korea could be repairing a new nuclear test and if they do, how should president trump respond? >> the more pressing question is what are the chinese going to do? they have moved 150,000 troops to the north korean border and changed their purchases of coal and tightened up on sanctions against north korea. they have said publicly that the north koreans had better not engage in this nuclear test. if it's an underground facility, what we just proved in afghanistan was we have weapons without going nuclear -- we have

huge nonnuclear conventional weapons that could take out these kind of facilities. i think the chinese are trying to say to him but you've got it take winston trump seriously, this is not like the good old days. we've got to look at the chinese, who did abstain at the u.n. president trump was right to say this is a major step in the right direction. they abstained, leaving the russians at the only country voting no. >> kimberly: can we have this kind of confidence in terms of the relationship with china and trump working together cooperatively? i think people are concerned because nobody seems to be able to control north korea and kim jong own. >> i don't think you can wave a magic wand but president trump recommended that they go off by

themselves and get away from the staff. they had a two hour meeting the first day and another one hour meeting the second day. apparently the chemistry was very good. you do remember that reagan did the same thing with gorbachev when they first met. he said let's go for a walk, let's get out of here my you and me and the interpreter. that doesn't lead to a different attitude, a different willingness to work. i think that's with president trump hoped he could do with putin and putin has simply been too difficult to deal with, to have that kind of personal conversation. i think that we are on the edge of some serious progress with china. >> kimberly: i think you bring up a great point. establishing that bond, here is president trump doing that successfully. he can pick up the phone, work cooperatively with open lines of communication. that's real leadership and someone who is used to being an executive and making the decisions and establishing those relationships, i think we see if

>> kimberly: welcome back to "hannity," the united states sent a big message to our enemies around the world, after deploying what was called the mother of all bombs. why is this one bomb getting so much attention? joining us now with reaction is the author of the siege, tony tata a and michael waltz. thank you for being with us tonight on such an important news day. why was the mother of all bombs developed in the first place? give us a little bit of flavor about this bomb? >> kimberly, great to be with you. the mother of all bombs replaces the clear landing zone for helicopters, this bomb explodes about 6 feet off the ground and it sends all his energy and 300-meter radius around but

what's really happening here is that the bigger strategic picture, kimberly, it's almost as if for the last eight years, the lights have been off -- the trump administration has come and turn the lights on. at their cockroaches everywhere. we have to do some sort of damage control to clean this up so our vital interests are not threatened the way they have been, the way we apologize to our enemies and ignore the threats that are out there. i know general nicholson very well. we work together in afghanistan and make is dropping a moab on a known ratline to kill isis fighters, i know it was a valid target. one we needed to drop on and clothes some cave mouth and drop some tunnels on some enemies. and this is a very effective weapon because all its energy goes out and kills the personnel you are trying to kill. it doesn't go into the ground and get dissipated into the

ground. >> kimberly: apparently we will be able to get -- hopefully one save declassified, the video of that. what you think about this in terms of the presence of isis and afghanistan and disseminate long years of hard fought there in an area that is still so troubled and problematic? >> just to add to the general tata's point, over the last eight years, all anyone in the region has heard his withdrawal, withdrawal, withdrawal. that has caused everybody including our enemies to wait us out. what we see here is a completely different method. i'm sure a lot of viewers and people are saying wait, this is not what he campaigned on. we will be stuck in this forever more. i think we've learned now and i'm sure he is listening to his key advisors, general madison and general mcmaster, we cannot turn our back on the region like we did on iraq.

we cannot have another iraq. isis, al qaeda, the taliban will be resurgent in this region but it will be ten times , worse exr pakistan has ten times the population. if we are not sent in the moab, it would have taken thousands of soldiers to clear those caves. and we had just lost a green beret this week. just having the generals make the authority to make those decisions. >> kimberly: it's one of those things president trump promised to the american people that he was going to be a strong leader, he was going to use the mighty weight of the u.s. military to really improve national security throughout the area because it's just been a big problem, eight years of retreat. >> dating all the way back to

the make it crystal issue if you remember that seven years ago, obama had such thin skin that he politicized every branch of government, we see it with the fbi today, you see it with the military and dod. it was so politicized, you can move outside of your box and now it president trump has done, he says look, you guys execute on the ground and i promise you, if make nicholson a saying i've got a problem here, this is the same ratline that open usama bin laden used to get into pakistan and i can tell you it's a real issue that we've got isie pakistan because that tells youe and pakistan is complicit here f

predators in the pakistan military wave in al qaeda's and others through to attack our bases and we know that that happened. if they are allied with isis, that's a huge problem on our flank in afghanistan again, the mission in afghanistan is to deny terrorists. >> kimberly: i'm glad you brought that up. they have to do a lot more to get the respect and support of the united states in terms of assets and money we have provided to them and my goodness, when you see this thing going on, michael, they need to get in line. >> that's right. general mcmaster is heading out to kabul as we speak. they are in the midst of a strategy review. the big thing we're going to see is a much tougher line on pakistan for its support of the taliban and others.

there's another aspect to this and another message being said that's not being discussed and that is russia. it ties into the meetings we just had in the sense that russia has now started meddling in afghanistan again and it started working with the taliban -- under the kind of guys of wealth, isis is coming up and the taliban and isis aren't getg along. what they are really trying to do is undermine nato and the united states in yet another theater. that not only send them a message but north korea a message as they start to prepare for another nuclear test. i will tell you as a military leader, i am proud of our president, i am proud of our commander-in-chief. he gets it and he understands the people in that part of the world respect strength and we are showing it and our diplomats are going to the table now with the weight of the united states military behind them. >> kimberly: now they know. make no mistake about it. thank you so much for your service and for being here with

border patrol agent as well as his history. a mexican police task force captured the suspect at a ranch. it involved the dea and the u.s. -- very seeking extradition. he is a mexican national. we have learned he was apprehended seven times by the border patrol and arrested once for a dui before joining the rib crew that killed brian terry in december of 2010. he was part of the border patrol special ops unit that took a bullet beneath his vest and died at the scene. his death exposed the obama administration's operation fast and furious after agents found to assault style weapons at the scene, sold under the u.s. program.

in all, the justice department approved the sale of some 2,000 weapons to the mexican cartel. now i am told that he is tied to the scene by according to five others who are already in prison, he fired the shot that killed agent terry. kimberly, back to you. >> kimberly: william, thank you. it joining us now with reaction from the fox business network, lou dobbs. you covered the story extensively. how big of a disaster was this fast and furious operation? >> a disaster for the obama it administration, the family of brian terry, for all americans who care about our border security and law and order. this was a disaster for the obama administration in retrospect now because what happens after two months of president trump being in office? another one of brian terry's killers has been released in mexico. under president obama, for nothing to happen -- now

suddenly they are producing the killers of brian terry, justice is moving forward and by the way, the one suspect still at large -- i would wager would be caught very, very soon. >> kimberly: you think there is a direct link to president trump being in and these accomplishments? one of the biggest things he talked about with candidate trump was border security, protecting them so they would not be penalized or prosecuted like they were under previous administrations. >> at this time, the president of the united states is supporting those who keep our borders secure and demands of mexico that it be a responsible, mature partner in policing that border and securing it. the mexican government is responding. this is one example of it. i think you are going to see more positives like this as we go forward. remember, how big is this? we are talking about it has

taken almost seven years since eric holder at the attorney general of the united states lied to congress -- lied in contempt of congress. the only cabinet member in our history to ever be found in contempt of congress and we are now seeing -- we hope it -- a change that will mean partnership rather than opposition between the governments of mexico and the united states. and justice for the brian terry family, all border patrol agents and all americans who care about this country and law and order. >> kimberly: absolutely. it's almost as shocking and appalling that former prosecutors -- it took them this long to get these arrests and make it happen but let let's talk a little bit about the president's immigration policy. we are already seeing a deterrent effect and at the numbers really dramatically different and they were under president obama in terms of people saying wait, maybe i better not come in here.

>> 70% fewer over each of the past two months. we are also seeing a president who is not afraid even as paul ryan says we won't be able to get funding for that, the president reminds ryan who is president, we are wondering hundred 100% certain there will be a wall. jeff sessions says this is the era of trump and we will prosecute document fraud as felonies. we will prosecute illegal aliens and we will send them and deport them to wherever they come com. >> kimberly: great point about jeff sessions is he is very strong on this issue, steadfast and already making developments and really improving the level of prosecution, upholding the laws that are actually on the books. it's a sort of shocking. unbelievable. >> the great thing too is

panel yesterday and anthony scaramucci. thank you for being here tonigh tonight. i will start with you, ari, what you think about those claims that the media is tougher on democrats? >> the press largely comes from the left, but the notion of that that means they are harder on the left is nonsensical. have you ever seen more tougher coverage on donald trump right now? i think the press gets credit for being tough on hillary for her email scandal, that was a scandal that was hard to overlook. they were tough on her husband for his monica scandal. another scandal to overlook but when it comes to day in day out coverage, the process so much harder on republicans and democrats and tripoli as hard on donald trump than they are on everybody else. they were soft on barack obama. >> kimberly: anthony, you have been on side, part of the transition team.

you experienced it, felt it up close and personal. >> what ari is saying is there's a lot of personal assassination because they don't like the policies of the rights of what they try to do is identify who is a weak link or to my crew to be sitting in favor and do a massive pile on to try to knock that person out. unbelievably talented guy, all of that was political rigmarole, they characterized him in a certain way and he such a gentleman that he stepped out of the process so that it wouldn't detract from the president of the united states. they are effective at this unfortunately and they do it all the time. >> kimberly: ari, what you think in terms of the commune occasion and how that is going in terms of the trump administration -- the process after him every single day, looking for any kind of thing that can blow up. >> i keep a file, a bulging file that gets bigger every day of

examples that i think illustrates the bias. "washington post" had a article about jeff sessions being down at the border, cracking down on criminals and it conflated illegal immigration with immigration and it quoted not one or two or three but for people who are against what sessions did. it didn't have one quote of any expert or republican supporting what the attorney general did. but at the post catches the stuff. that's the bias in the newsroom that bothers me so much. >> kimberly: it's tough to experience, it's up close and personal even for our viewers to see. >> it is a blood sport. you have to have a really thick skin. give her some credit for what she said, she did admit to the bias, a very big bias but i think it republicans have to take a "no" whining approach on this and just hit as hard as we can on the policies, i think
