macedonian the dash "the five" is next. see you tomorrow. >> greg: no we are not. >> dana: i am dana perino along with kimberly guilfoyle, one williams, greg gutfeld, jesse watters. it is 9:00 in new york city and this is "the five." president trump fulfilled a controversial and major campaign promise by pulling the united states out of the landmarked paris i met agreemen agreement. it imposes far too heavy a burden on america's economy and that it's unfair to american workers. >> as of today, the
12:01 am
united states will cease all implementation of the nonbiting paris accord and the draconian financial and economic burdens the agreement imposes on our country. they don't put america first. i do. and i always will. i was elected to represent the citizens of pittsburgh, not paris. our withdrawal from the agreement is a reassertion of american sovereignty. >> dana: president trump did say they would potentially reenter the agreement if they can get a better deal. jesse, this is a big deal today. kyoto all rolled into one. >> jesse: kaboom is right if you listen to television today.
12:02 am
we went from leading from behind to america first today. this deal was initiated by barack obama, not the best dealmaker. i don't know if he wanted to knock america down or we got hoodwinked. it cost $3 trillion, it cost 6 million jobs. to what, hypothetically bring the temperature down a fraction of a percent in 100 years? they can continue to push coal, receive taxpayer money, and we can't do any of that. it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. spreading the wealth doesn't work. if it did, venezuela would be a paradise. president trump love the american worker. there's nothing wrong with that. i think democrats used to understand that, they don't
12:03 am
anymore. he is beholden to the constitution. if obama wanted this done, he would've sent it to the senate for ratification. the democrats can't control their emotions, let alone the temperature in 100 years. at the same people that were saying hillary would be elected in november are telling us what the weather's going be like? i don't think so >> dana: something happened, greg, a bunch of cities and states, mayors and governors and big corporations saying well, we are going to take it upon ourselves to rocket down our emissions anyway. if they are going to do that, maybe you don't need the federal government to push. >> greg: if the government isn't going to enforce us, we will enforce ourselves. that's called conservatism, everybody. free market. this is an interesting decision, what he did. he didn't actually have to do this. this might be the bravest thing he's done.
12:04 am
he's already spent a lot of political capital. he's got a strange new respect from the left by letting this go. it's a nonbinding agreement. it really is useless and also it's a bad deal. as jesse pointed out, is so absurdly expensive for a negligible increase. up to $200 trillion over a century will cut 1% of the carbon target. so in order to reach their ideal, you would need to multiply 200 trillion debt whie don't even have. it's a farce. the impact of this deal is negligible but it will destroy economies. what he did with actually brave in the sense that he didn't have to do it, he could've just not followed through. you are watching everybody crazy over this.
12:05 am
all he said was it's a bad deal. if it becomes better, i will go in. it's like the guy who walked into the show room, he looked at the cars and said that's too expensive. give me a call, i will come back. that's exactly what he did. another metaphor, he went to a party -- realized the party socks, socks, and said maybe i'll go to a better party. if you are going to lose your over this, you are a liar. >> dana: some proponent said, just stay in because you don't have to abide by it. is it better to sit at the table and fake it -- for example governor schwarzenegger told president bush sir, you don't actually have to believe in climate change. you just have to say that you do and then everybody will like you. oh, really, is that how that works? >> kimberly: i think
12:06 am
president trump would be very consistent with this campaign promise. i don't think this is a deal that anyone could be crying about. it's nonbinding. the united states is already a clean energy, oil and gas leader. he can keep doing what he's doing. why would we in fact put ourselves at an economic disadvantage, giving a windfall to other countries, a climate redistribution of wealth? it makes no sense to me. i think he did the brave and courageous thing. i told him that this morning. when he called. i spoke to him about it. >> greg: wait a second, who called you? >> kimberly: the president. climate change, taxes.
