citizens of pittsburgh, not paris. pete: that was president trump on wednesday. while pledging loyalty to the american workers rather than the global community? what's wrong with that? clayton: congressman mike kelly represents the heart of coal country outside of pittsburgh and he joins us now. congressman great to see you this morning. >> thank you for having me on. clayton: front page of the "new york times" small business owners make up 99% of businesses in this country. it's not just the exxons and not just the disneys and fords that have a big say in this. what does this mean for small business in your region? >> well, look, we know the accord, the paris climate accord, it should have been a treaty. president obama didn't want to put it through the regular process which would have involved the senate getting involved with advice and consent. never would have passed he did a middle end run on it. what it does mean for every day hard working american people, why would you want to raise the cost of the products

of everything that's on the shelf? why would you want to reduce their wages and what in the world benefit would this have other than to make some kind of statement about an aspirational accord that doesn't really -- it can't be enforced. it's truly voluntary and doesn't do anything to really address the situation of actually lowering the temperature of the planet. i think when we look at this, folks, look, it's not good for america. it's not good for american workers, it's not good for american consumers. it's just not good for america. the president has every right, president trump, this is a guy who understands how business works, article 28 in the agreement gives us the ability to withdraw from the agreement. he is only doing what's stated in the agreement. we want to protect jobs. we want to protect american jobs. we want to protect american consumers. why would america give up its ability to develop its own energy policy and turn it over to a world that looks assess if we dumb it down and make it harder for america to succeed we win.

peek. morgan and former deputy secretary of state joel. you have more titles than that but that's all they put on the teleprompter. good morning. as we. >> the world needs american hard power. i'm reminded of when obama invaded libya in 2013. -- 2011, rather, and the europeans were supposed to lead the effort and they couldn't actually do it without american help. so reluctantly they had to drag us in and drag the obama administration into a bad war simply because they couldn't carry out their own policies. the world needs us. pete: joel, you know, for the other side here, what do you make of this? is there a way to lead without having to be tied to this accord? >> well, if you believe that america's word matters, then this decision was devastating. and very counter productive to american economy. the jobs in particular. it's baffling to me.

right now more jobs in clean energy and renewable energy than in traditional fossil fuel extraction in the united states and the trends are only headed in that direction. i'm from pittsburgh originally as well. a and for pittsburgh, this sounds like the president was calling for return to the 1950s. not to 2017. so it's very concerning. pete: you talk about america's word. didn't the president run on getting us out of this accord, win the election and then keep his word? >> well, he ran on moving the embassy to jerusalem and he didn't do that. pete: that's when not if. >> he still chose not to move and it ran on getting out of nafta and he didn't do that he said i'm going to renegotiate nafta, not necessarily get out and that worked. yet, with the paris deal, he said i'm getting out. now let's renegotiate and that's not going to work. and it's a problem for our security. it's a problem for our jobs. pete: morgan, your take on this? >> i think there is a false left and the right. people on the left saying if you believe in global warming you have to be for this deal

and if you are against this deal then you don't believe in global warming and you want the earth to be swallowed up by the sun. i think there is common sense americans in the middle saying i want to protect the environment. i want to protect the planet that god gave us i am concerned that we may have had standards in this deal that aren't good for american business. that's what we should be focusing on. pete: good point. this week while everyone else is screaming russia, russia, russia, the president tweeted out do you know what the big story is. this is the tweet right here. the big story is unmasking and surveillance of people that took place during the obama administration well senator lindsey graham was on our panel comedy and talked about this. take a listen. >> i have reason to believe that a conversation that i had was picked up with some foreign leader or some foreign person and somebody requested that my conversation be unmasked. i have been told that by people in the intelligence community. pete: andrew is, this a big story? >> absolutely.

i'm a transition official. i worked with the state department. if i was unmasked for political reasons i want to know about it. most intriguing deal from the house intelligence committee subsubpoenas is they are asking for sam powers involvement u.n. ambassador under obama which is bizarre because she is not an intelligence official. she is barely a national security official. her job is to represent america at the u.n. so why is she asking for the raw intelligence data from the cia and their reasons for unmasking americans? pete: joel, i have a feeling you may want to utter the word russia. setting this aside, is this not an issue leaking of information for political purposes potentially? >> unmasking is a challenge that needs done done in a way that is very much protected and certainly the leaking for political purposes, that would be a problem. but the big question here is why are americans meeting with russians who are doing illicit activity in the united states. pete: every transition does. >> that's the question. the intelligence community should be surveying the

>> yeah, i have been trying to figure out what they actually meant. i started looking at research last night to see if the people in poor neighborhoods or black neighborhoods use different air as other americans? i think we all breathe in the same air. but, i just don't understand what their motivation is behind it. i think americans are quite frankly sick of these type of tactics. abby: here is what they tweeted black and brown people are more likely to live near coal plants and have higher asthma rates than other americans do. what do you say to that? >> that's factually incorrect that they live closer to coal plants. secondly, as it relate to asthma, i don't see the scientific data that says that it's because of, you know, the co 2 that a lot of these asthma attacks and, you know, diagnoses are happening. i was looking all night trying to figure out the comparisons. there is no comparison i can't give you a comparison though. when you talk about black

coffee and develop those rip relationships. >> network is net worth as i have been taught. people think the bank is the only answer. to me that's unfortunately not the case. clayton: something near and dear to my heart is real estate investing. ken mche will i have rae advisor on this team. what is the number one mistake you see with businesses when it comes to real estate, real estate investing? >> so what i see is that they don't use debt properly. there is good debt and bad debt. of course, bad debt is like credit card debt. that's what a lot of people do. it's very expensive. good debt is actually using debt to buy assets. so, so the banks are set up very interestingly. they take people's deposits. and that's actually what the poor does. the poor puts money into a bank. the rich borrow it. that's the system. if people understood that. they would borrow more money and try to stay ahead of inflation. inflation is killing people. they have to -- if you are making 1% in a savings account. and your inflation is at 4. you are going backwards. s it's just that simple.

circumscribe himself and be less effective as a leader. so there's broad latitude to invoke privilege. and i think in this case the president could prevent the former fbi director james comey from testifying why? because it would reveal their private conversations, a. and b, it could imperil or compromise the legal case being investigated by the department of justice and robert muller, the former fbi director and now the special counsel. so a good argument could be made. what we're hearing, however, is the -- and i don't know it to be fact because i haven't corroborated it with anyone on the president's staff or his cabinet. they are saying now that the president will let it go. he will let comey testify and let the chips fall where they may. here's the problem with that: during the reagan administration, our colleague now was called to testify before the united states congress, and he did under a grant of immunity, and he told

what he knew about the iran scandal. later he was criminally prosecuted for his involvement and guess what? the convictions were overturned? why? because he was forced to give testimony if before congress, therefore incriminating himself for a criminal case, and that's constitutional to the criminal conviction of oliver north was overthrown by the appellate court. so you can't muck around politics and law. you have to be very, very careful. >> sure. but for the president to say he welcomes the testimony because nothing comey can say is going to hurt him and ultimately going to light the fact the fact that there's a whole lot of smoke and a whole lot of nothing. >> i like that, although as a lawyer, i caution, caution when it comes to those kinds of things because you never know where it's going to go, and you never know what comey's going to say. >> that sounds like a man who doesn't have a guilty conscious. who sounds like, hey, -- >> that's what the president is saying. but you also have a situation

read on the teleprompter to record-breaking closes and the unemployment rate reaching a 16-year low. so why are they skipping all of these developments? >> let's ask fox business trish regan. love having you go here, trish. abby: you look at the numbers and look at how it has been reported, it doesn't matter. trish: it was a good report. i mean, granted you would have liked to have seen more jobs added, but i have to tell you, economists, they always get this wrong. i mean, i've covered so many jobs reports, and they never get it right. so jobs added. that's one way they'll revise it. don't worry about it. the important thing here is unemployment if he will 4.3%. more importantly, and this is something nobody talks about many mainstream media. i'm convinced because it's intimidating, but i'm going to tell you about it anyway. it's called the u6 rate, and that basically looks at real unemployment. it factors in everybody out there who has been working part-time but really wants the full-time job and guess what?

that fell two cents of a percent, and that's the lowest it has been at since 2007, so that's even more encouraging. wages also went up 2.5%. very good news. >> yeah. we've seen housing starting, you know, for the first time home buyer market, builders starting to build first time homes for the first time in a while. we've seen manufacturing up. abby: millennials moving out of their parent's basements. >> finally. one thing i want to get to this week were the interest rumbling that we may see a interest rate hike because of the booming economy. what will that do? >> i have to tell you, that's a good sign. if the federal reserve think so the economy is strong enough that wages are growing and unemployment is low enough to move on interest rates, then that's probably a sign that we can all feel pretty good about. besides the markets reaching a record high. as for what affect it's going to have, you know, look, i don't think it's going to have a massive affect on interest

rates at all or mortgage rates because i'm going to get really wonky on you. look at the ten-year yield. interest rates are low. if you want to borrow money in treasuries right now, you can -- the u.s. can do so at a really, really low rate still. so it's not as though these things are spiking overnight. i'm not too worried about interest rates going on. >> and it feels under the obama administration, we saw the unemployment rate fell, but we saw people fall. we saw people leaving the job market, though. so you talk about this u6 rate. the people who have been out of the market or employed are out of full-time jobs. >> yeah. so part-time people who wanted the full-time jobs, they're starting to get them. that's encouraging. you're also looking at labor force participation rates that, you know, it could be better. but it's getting there. and these things are going to take time. i think the biggest thing we should all take heart in, though, is that wages are starting to increase a little bit. people are getting back to work. companies are hiring.
